"KIRBY
VERSUS
FOX!"
The puffball descended in his star, crashing towards the big airship that would be his battlefield. Upon closer inspection he saw that it was a big airship. It reminded him of his rival Meta Knight's aircraft, the Halberd. Although the Halberd was definitely bigger. Speaking of aircrafts, wasn't that a small airplane right above of him…?
It was. And out of it, dropped a strange creature. It bore a certain resemblance to a fox, but could walk in two legs, which is something more akin to other creatures. He was also wearing some sort of uniform, which did actually look like one that a pilot would wear. In his left eye there was a weird lens machine, which Kirby didn't think could serve a purpose. He also noticed that he was carrying a gun, and something else which he did not identify. The creature tapped a switch in his lens, and then the silence of the environment was broken:
"Fox McCloud, reporting to duty. Landing upon the Great Fox was successful. The atmosphere is breathable, which is surprising since we're in outer space. I have found the foe which I am supposed to face. It's a pink ball, who wears red shoes and has nothing but a face and two tiny, round arms. I cannot confirm its gender, but it doesn't seem hostile. I'll try approaching it."
Kirby stood still as the fox came closer to inspect him. He didn't seem like a bad guy at all, but he needed to be careful. Give him a beating if it's necessary. "OK, it isn't a hostile creature. Despite my personal regret, I will smash him out so I can go forward. Fox McCloud out." Only then Kirby realized the fox's name.
"Poyo?(Fox?)" "Poyo poyo POYO?!(Your name is FOX?!)" Kirby burst into laughter at this statement. The fox's name was Fox. Fox raised an eyebrow. This creature seemed to have fun with something. He once again turned on his communicator and began: "Fox reporting once again. It seems the creature speaks some kind of forgotten language. Fortunately, I possess basic knowledge of said language. I'll attempt communication." Fox then kneeled down and began saying: "Poyo poyo poyo poyo poyo Poyo poyo, poyo poyo poyo poyo? (My name is Fox, what is your name?)"
Kirby, still in his laugh attack, said: "Poyo poyo POYO poyo! Poyo poyo poyo poyo, POYO?! (You're called FOX! What's your father called, FOXER?!" Fox then reported back: "Alright, it's a sentient creature. And quite a disrespectful one. I already feel angry because of it. He—he offended my father! I can't help but get angry at that! I want to punch him. Can I punch him? Oh, of course I can. And I won't regret it. Fox McCloud out."
The voice began speaking and explained the rules. Kirby already knew most of what the voice was saying. But to Fox, this was entirely new. A fighter that already had won one battle was quite an exciting challenge for him, especially in this damned event. He did a few stretches and then stood in a fighting position.
"Ready… GO!"

Hit after hit, Mario could feel all of his efforts breaking down. He was completely overpowered by Fox's attacks. There was no way that he could win normally, he knew it. He would have to call upon a miracle if he wanted to be an inch—no, a particle closer to Fox's power. Too fast, too strong, too effective, and way too little effort is exactly how the plumber would describe Fox's fighting style, consisted of quick kicks, an effective use of his blaster, and an attack where he enveloped himself in fire and shouted "FAIYAAAAA" while going across the field and knocking him away. Worst of all, his fireballs didn't work, because he had a reflecting machine that sent them back.
At this point, Mario was more than DONE.
Kirby was having the time of his life, never having fought an opponent that was at his range. He was glad to go on toe-to-toe with someone who could match his speed and even overwhelm him. Fox's kicks were really quick, but he managed to parry and counterattack at the right timing. Inhaling him to spit him outside the spaceship, he was amused and excited to see him come back doing his fire attack. Fox wasn't growing any more tired, either. Their combination of strong attacks and blocks would've been a pleasure for anyone watching. However, Kirby couldn't forget his objective. He was going to do his best to survive and bring everyone he knew and loved back to the surface. Then, almost like he knew what he was thinking, Fox said:
"Hey, Kirby…what's your reason for fighting?"
