Strawberry Shortcake ran after the book. She ran as fast as she could. She wasn't going to let that book be lost to the wind. She got closer and closer to it. Once she got close enough to the book, she leaped in the air and snatched the book from the wind. When she hit the ground, she saw the girl with blue hair looking at her. She didn't just have blue hair. Her eyes were blue too, the color of blueberries. Her dark blue newsboy cap had a blueberry clip on it. She stared at Strawberry with her jaw dropped. Strawberry Shortcake handed the book back to her. She took the book and smiled at Strawberry.

"Thank you so much," the girl said.

"You're berry welcome!" Strawberry replied.

"Say, what's your name?"

"I'm Strawberry Shortcake! What's yours?"

"I'm Blueberry Muffin. It's berry nice to meet you!"

"It's berry nice to meet you too!"

Strawberry Shortcake and Blueberry Muffin shook hands and giggled.

"That book was super important," Blueberry said, "I owe you one, Strawberry!"

"Oh, you owe me nothing at all!" Strawberry smiled.

Suddenly, the two heard a shout. They looked towards Strawberry's wagon and saw Custard scowling at them. Strawberry giggled.

"Don't worry Blueberry," Strawberry said, "that's just Custard. She's my pet cat."

"Wait, your cat made that noise?" Blueberry asked.

"She sure did! She's berry talkative."

"Your cat can talk?!" Blueberry's eyes lit up.

"I can!" Custard added, "now come on Strawberry, we need to get going!"

"Just a minute, Custard!" Strawberry called.

Strawberry Shortcake walked over to her wagon. Blueberry Muffin followed her. Custard put her paw on her cheek and looked at her owner and her new friend. Blueberry began to pet Custard. Custard raised her other paw, as if she was going to say something, but she decided not to. She couldn't resist being pet. She started purring and laid down in the wagon.

"So," Blueberry began, "what are you doing here in Strawberry Stream?"

"Custard and I are planning to move here," Strawberry said, "but we don't know where our house is."

"Oh, welcome to Strawberry Stream!" Blueberry exclaimed.

"Thank you!" Strawberry smiled.

"Anyways, do you have a map with you, Strawberry?"

"I did, but the wind tried taking my hat earlier, and when I went to fix it, I let go of my map, and the wind carried it away!"

"Yikes! I guess it's happening to everyone today."

"Do you have a map we could use?" Custard asked.

"I might have one at my house," Blueberry answered. "Wanna come over?"

"Oh, we'd love to! Thank you berry much, Blueberry Muffin!"

"No problem! It's the least I could do for you."

Blueberry Muffin began walking on the path, motioning for Strawberry to follow her. Strawberry Shortcake got back to walking, pulling the wagon behind her. They walked and walked until they reached a muffin-shaped house. Custard looked up and saw the house.

"Hey," she said, "this one looks like the one from the map!"

"It does!" Strawberry noticed that just as Custard said it.

Blueberry Muffin opened her door and went inside. Strawberry Shortcake picked up Custard and took her inside. They looked around Blueberry's house. The first thing that both of them noticed is that there were books everywhere. There were books in bookshelves, books on bookshelves, and books on the floor. There was a small brown chest against one of the shelves. Strawberry sat down in a blue armchair, holding Custard in her lap. She began petting her. Blueberry Muffin walked into the room, carrying a tray with two muffins on it. She sat down in an armchair across from Strawberry, and set the tray on a coffee table.

"Would you like a muffin?" Blueberry asked.

Strawberry Shortcake picked up one of the muffins. It had a sweet aroma, and was filled with blueberries. She took a bite. The muffin tasted sweet and fruity. It was a sensation in Strawberry's mouth. When she swallowed, she smiled at Blueberry.

"Did you like it?" Blueberry asked.

"I loved it!" Strawberry exclaimed, "you're a great baker!"

"Aww, thank you! I saw you had baking supplies in your wagon, I assume you like baking too?"

"Oh, absolutely!"

"Well, you're going to fit right in here! Strawberry Stream is full of people who like to bake."

"How wonderful!"

Strawberry and Blueberry giggled. Custard, however, was starting to get impatient.

"Um, excuse me," Custard said, trying not to sound upset, "but didn't you say you had a map we could use?"

"Oh, right!" Blueberry exclaimed, "I totally forgot! Sorry about that. I'll go look for one!"

Blueberry Muffin got up and began looking for a map. She searched in her bookshelves, on top of her bookshelves, inside the many books lying about. She opened up the little brown chest, and began digging inside it. Custard moved her head to get a closer look, and she saw a bunch of presents inside the chest. They had colorful wrapping paper, ribbons, and bows.

"Hey," Custard asked, "whatcha got in there?"

Blueberry Muffin panicked. She slammed the chest shut and put on her largest fake grin. Sweat rolled down her face.

"Nothing!" She said with a nervous laugh.

"Really?" Custard asked, "I could've sworn I saw stuff in there."

"Custard!" Strawberry scolded, "don't make our new friend uncomfortable! This our first time meeting her!"

"No," Blueberry said, "I can explain."

Custard leaned closer to Blueberry. She was hesitating for a bit.

"Somebody else is moving into Strawberry Stream today," she said, "and we're throwing them a party. If we knew you were moving in today too, we would've done something for you too, Strawberry. Sorry."

"Oh, no worries, Blueberry!" Strawberry said.

Custard wasn't impressed with Blueberry Muffin's excuse, but she decided to let it slide. Blueberry Muffin left the room to keep looking for the map. Strawberry Shortcake and Custard looked at each other.

"I don't believe it," Custard said.

"I mean, it's entirely possible," Strawberry replied, "two people can move into a town on the same day."

"But don't you think it's a little odd?" Custard asked, "why was she hiding the presents?"

"I don't know Custard, but there has to be a good reason for it."

"You're way too trusting, Strawberry."

"Maybe, but I don't want to be rude, especially with how nice she's been to us so far."

Custard thought about how she acted towards Blueberry Muffin earlier, and realized that maybe she overstepped her boundaries a little. She couldn't help her curiosity, but she certainly could've been nicer. She started getting tense, but then Strawberry began petting her, which eased her nerves a little. Blueberry came back into the room, looking a little bummed out.

"Sorry Strawberry, sorry Custard, but I couldn't find a map anywhere!" she said.

"That's OK Blueberry!" Strawberry smiled. "I guess we'd better get going."

Strawberry Shortcake picked up Custard and stepped back outside with Blueberry Muffin. Strawberry put Custard in the wagon.

"I may not have a map," Blueberry said, "but I can give you directions!"

"Oh, how wonderful!" Strawberry clapped and giggled.

"Just keep walking straight down the path for a bit," Blueberry explained, "and you'll make it to Orange Blossom's house. She's my closest neighbor, and I'm sure she can help you. She's much more organized and not as forgetful as I am."

"Oh, thank you berry much Blueberry Muffin! You were berry friendly to us!"

"My pleasure! Goodbye Strawberry Shortcake, goodbye Custard! Stay safe!"

"Goodbye Blueberry Muffin!"

The two girls waved goodbye, and Strawberry Shortcake went on her way, pulling Custard behind her. Their next stop was Orange Blossom's house. They knew nothing about her, but Strawberry had no worries. Strawberry Shortcake liked Strawberry Stream already.
