Author's Note: I figured that it was about time for Walker to get out of jail. He's been in there long enough. I like some of the parts that I wrote in there. It was a bit of a struggle to add more parts before I wrapped up the halo. But here we are. I added enough to keep you entertained. Like I said before, I have the rest of this month plotted out for this fic. I already have ideas for January too. I can't wait for next week. The Christmas specials are one-third complete. (Misery Index is finished. Now, I am working on Tea Leaves and Black Lipstick's Christmas special.) For now, I will shut up and let you enjoy this week's halo.
Halo Nineteen: Walker:
Morikawa Kita sat in an interrogation room. She's been there since midnight. The woman refused to talk.
"Put me in the mother fucking jail already!" she snapped. "I want my lawyer." The police can't get her to say a word other than that.
"We are sending the police to search your place as we speak," one of the police said. She didn't say anything. Kita just folded her arms across her chest and looked away. This woman was being more difficult than they imagined. She ended up in a holding cell.
While one person is going into jail, another is about to make a break for it.
Walker leaped to his feet.
"It's time to get out of here," he said. The otaku had a game plan worked out. The guards were going to have to check on the prisoners since Dan's death. One of them was going to have to come down here by the cell block. Based on his memory of how things will play out, one of the inmates will attack the guard on duty. Then the guard will radio for backup. That's when Walker would grab the keys and unlock his door. He would unlock Aoko's door too. However, there was one problem.
His phone was still locked up. Maybe he could take a guard hostage and walk him down to where his phone was being kept. From there, Walker would be a fugitive. Fine by him. Not like they were going to look for little old him. Not with the infamous Morikawa-san in jail.
The escape plan was just about to start… now.
The doors to the cellblock opened. Walker started to tell the prisoner break story in his head.
The guards come in to do their rounds. All is quiet. They don't suspect a thing. But little do they know that a prison break is unfolding.
One guard went to the left and the other went to the right. Walker stood watching and waiting. Earlier in the day, Erika managed to slip him a small book of matches. The otaku took care to hide the matches deep in another pocket. The guards found the empty book.
"What did you do with the matches?" one of them asked. Walker just smiled and shrugged. One was itching to grab him and search his body. The other guard held out his arm.
"Leave him," he said. The first guard stared blankly.
"But…" he said. His superior shook his head.
"There's something wrong with him," he said. "I just know it." They turned to Walker's back.
"He's plotting something," he whispered. Walker heard every word too.
Slowly. Slowly, they make their rounds. Two inmates are waiting to make their move. The Tanuki has his good old firepower on hand. His fellow catgirl, Erika, had slipped them in just hours earlier. The guards slowly come closer.
Just three more cells before they reached Walker's. The otaku counted down in his head.
Four… Three… Two…
"One," Walker said to himself.
The guard was about to approach his cell when he heard a loud scream.
"Huh?" he asked. Walker pulled out a match and struck it. The guard ran over to his partner.
"What's going on? What happened?!" he asked.
"My ankle!" the other guard shouted. "The bastard got me in the ankle!"
"Your what?" the first guard asked. He looked down and saw the problem. A prisoner had stabbed his partner in the Achilles' heel.
"It hurts!" he yelled.
"Hang on!" the guard shouted. He reached for his radio. When clicked on the radio, Walker saw that as his cue.
As the guards call for back-up, the Tanuki's fire powers reawaken.
As the guard tended to his injured partner, he paused when he smelt smoke. He turned his head towards Walker's cell.
"Don't tell me…" he said. He ran to the cell. Walker's sheet had caught on fire. He held it up laughing.
"Yes! Burn it all down!" the otaku shouted. Walker set fire to the pillow with another match.
"What the hell are you doing?!" the guard asked. "Are you out of your mind?! You'll burn this place down! What are you stupid?!" He unlocked the door and rushed inside. Walker smirked to himself. When the guard got close enough, the otaku headbutted him. The guard fell to the ground, screaming in pain.
"Ow! What the fuck?!" he shouted. He rolled around on the guard, rubbing his nose. Walker grinned.
Oh, and there should be a kickass anime soundtrack here. "Pushing the Sky" by the Seatbelts would be perfect for this.
The otaku leaned down and grabbed the keys. He stepped over the guard and walked out of his cell.
Oh yeah, I should get the maiden out of here.
Walker walked over to Aoko's cell.
"Come with me if you want to save your sister," he said. The otaku unlocked her cell and held out his hand. Aoko blinked as she looked stunned.
"Uh… Okay," she said. She took his hand and Walker ran down the hall. The otaku kicked the keys to a random nearby cell. Let the guards deal with this little mess. He knew where to go next.
By now, backup was on the way. Three more police officers charged in armed into the cellblock.
"What the hell?!" one of the cops yelled. One of the prisoners had grabbed the keys and unlocked the door. Pretty soon, the prisoners were out fighting the guards. It was then Walker saw his way out.
"You!" the otaku shouted. The police officer froze. He put his hand to his gun. Walker drew out another match.
What is this? A guard has his gun drawn? How are the tanuki and the maiden going to get out of this?
"Don't move!" the cop snapped. Walker and Aoko stood still. The otaku weighed his options.
"We need our phones," he said. "You're going to help us get them." Aoko stared at him with big eyes.
"What?!" she and the cop asked. Walker grinned.
"I will burn us all down!" he shouted. The otaku lit the match and tossed it at the cop's ankle. He yelped and jumped backward. The gun hit the ground. Walker drew out another match and struck it. That match went on the cop's ankle too. That was three matches down. Only five more to go. Better make them last. Walker reached for another match in his pocket.
"Wait!" the cop yelled. He held up his hands. Walker raised his eyebrow. The cop started shaking. Sweat covered his forehead.
"Okay! Okay!" he said. "I'll help you get your phones."
"Give me your gun," Walker said.
"Right," the cop said, nodding. "Right." He bent down and slid the gun over to Walker.
"Nice," the otaku said. He picked up the gun off the floor. The whole time Aoko stood with her mouth agape. Who was this man saving her? Instinct would tell any sane person to run. But something inside of her told her that she was going to need him to get back to her sister and bring her home.
"Turn around," Walker ordered with the gun. The guard gulped as he turned around.
"You have any other weapons on you?" the otaku asked. The guard slowly nodded.
"Hand them over," Walker said. The cop did so without question. The other cops were too busy fighting and subduing the other prisoners on the loose. Meanwhile, the cop handed over a taser and handcuffs. Walker grabbed both items. He handed Aoko the teaser.
"Here," he said. "You are going to need this." The woman took the weapon without saying a word.
With weapons and a guide obtained, the tanuki and the maiden make their way down to the evidence locker to obtain two more items to complete the escape. Meanwhile, the chaos erupts behind them. Other prisoners fight the guards for their freedom. However, the tanuki and the maiden can't focus on that now. They have to get away.
"Walk," the otaku commanded. The guard whimpered as he started walking.
"Could you kindly take us to where you have our phones locked up?" Walker asked in a calm tone. The guard quickly nodded again. They all walked out of the cellblock.
Moments later, Walker and Aoko stood outside the police station.
"How did you manage to do all of that?" she asked. Walker smiled and shrugged in reply. The last few minutes were wild.
The guard reluctantly unlocked the boxes to get the phones and belongings.
"Thank you so much," Walker said. He took the phones out of the trembling man's hand. The otaku handed Aoko back her phone. Almost perfect. There was still one more thing to do.
"Hold out your wrists," Walker said. The cop looked like he was about to cry now. The otaku pulled out the handcuffs and cuffed him to a pole near the doorway.
"Is that necessary?" Aoko asked. Walker said nothing as he shrugged. She didn't ask him any more questions until they left the precinct.
"Now what?" Aoko asked once they were outside. The otaku already had that part planned. He couldn't go to his van friends just yet. Walker was a fugitive now. He couldn't risk the heat just yet. The otaku had some idea of where he was to go. That just left what to do with Aoko.
Walker turned to face her.
"Go to this address here," he said. Walker pulled out his phone and showed her an address in his address book.
"K-sensei and his girlfriend will help you out," he said. Aoko copied the address on her phone.
"You got it?" Walker asked.
"Yes," Aoko said.
"You just need to tell them everything you told me and they will help you," he said.
"What about you?" she asked. Walker pounded his fist to his chest.
"I'm off to my own hideout!" he said.
"But—" Aoko said. Walker put up his hand.
"I'll be fine," he said. "You just go to K-sensei." Walker turned and walked away. Aoko was about to speak, but the otaku waved her off.
The tanuki walks off into the sunset. He's let the maiden directions to the doctor and his girlfriend to help rescue her sister. As for the tanuki, well, he's off to another secret hideaway that he remembered from a past loop.
Walker shoved his hands into his pockets and disappeared down a nearby alley. And that was the end of the Ikebukuro Jail Uprising.
Meanwhile, the police were scrambling with more than one object on their plate. Kota rubbed his forehead. He had a guess who the next target was going to be in the Dante Killer case. However…
He looked up when he heard a knock on his door.
"Yeah?" the detective asked.
"I'm coming in," a woman's voice said. Kota sat up to see Hisakawa standing in the doorway.
"Can I come in?" she asked. The other detective waved her off.
"Whatever," he muttered.
"I'm coming in," Hisakawa said. She walked into the office area. The detective looked over his shoulder.
"Still stuck?" she asked.
"Yeah," Kota said. He turned and looked up.
"And how is your case doing?" he asked. Hisakawa sighed.
"I'm stuck too," she said. "May I?" Kota sighed.
"Sure," he said. The other detective pulled out a chair and sat down next to him. She looked down at the crime scene photos on the table.
"Who's next in the circles of Hell?" Hisakawa asked.
"Heresy," Kota said. "We've covered Limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, and wrath." The other detective counted up on her fingers.
"That's five circles already," she said.
"Yeah," he said. "And I think I know who the next victim would be." The detective pulled out his phone and pulled up the video. Hisakawa leaned in and raised her eyebrow.
"This guy?" she asked.
"Yeah," Kota said. "I mean, Murata seems like the perfect target for heresy. What could be more ideal than a cult leader?" Hisakawa wrinkled her nose.
"He looks so cheesy," she said. Kota shrugged.
"That may be so," he said. "But he's got a presence online. Look at this." He brought up Asahara's Facebook page. Hisakawa whistled at the numbers.
"Wow," was all she said.
"You should see their Twitter and Instagram pages," Kota said. The other detective tilted her head.
"Wait a minute," she said.
"What is it, Hisakawa?" he asked. She narrowed her eyes.
"I think I've seen him before," she said. "Hang on." Hisakawa walked over to his computer.
"What are you doing?" Kota asked.
"Come type your password," she said. The detective walked over to the computer.
"What are you looking for?" he asked.
"Type in the password," Hisakawa said. Kota rolled his eyes.
"Okay, okay," he said. "Move." She stepped back and let him type up the password. The screen came up to the desktop.
"What am I looking at?" Kota asked.
"Go to the database," Hisakawa said. The other detective opened up the database.
"Allow me," she said. She leaned forward and typed in Murata Kichizo. The profile popped up on the screen. Both detectives took a read.
"Murata Kichizo. Age 49. Crimes range from petty larceny, check bouncing, several counts of fraud. Wow, he even ripped off the yakuza?"
"Uh-huh," Hisakawa said. "There's a warrant for his arrest in Okinawa." Kota turned his head.
"Do you think this is another scam of his?" he asked. The other detective shrugged.
"I don't know, but I think you have a way to try and stop him from being murdered," she said. Kota didn't have to think about what she was saying.
"It could take days for everything to go through," he said. Hisakawa shrugged.
"Hey, anything to protect him from the killer," she said. "Just a thought." Kota turned back to the screen. Murata's mugshot stared back at him.
Aoko made it up to Celty and Shinra's apartment. She did her best to blend in with the crowd. Her mind still reeled from everything that happened up to this point. Who was that strange man who helped her break out of jail? She hoped that he was going to be okay. Aoko was going to have to thank him when she ran into him again after she recused her sister.
She walked up to the door and knocked. The woman took a breath and waited. Aoko looked up when the door opened. Shinra poked his head outside.
"Yes?" he asked. Aoko lifted her chin.
"Uh… I was told to come here by Yumasaki Walker," she said. The doctor gave her a strange look.
"Who are you exactly?" he asked.
"Oh, my name is Jimbo Aoko," Aoko said. "I am trying to save my sister from the Church of Light. Can you please help me?" Shinra stared at her for a moment. Something inside of him told him to give her help. Still, Shinra had his own questions for her. There was only one way for them to be answered.
"Okay sure," the doctor said. "Come inside." A wave of hope washed over the woman.
"Thank you so much," she said. Aoko bowed and followed him into the apartment. Shinra looked around outside before closing the door behind her.
Meanwhile, Walker knocked on the door of an apartment across town. He paced around as he waited. He's been here before. If everything that he remembered was correct, the person at this apartment would remember things that have happened by now too.
Walker looked up when the door opened. The otaku quickly stood up straight.
"Oh good, you're here," he said. "I thought I was going to have to use a rock to break the window. Anyway, can I come in?"
