Champions Of Fire: Chapter One
Twenty years. Twenty years after the Battle of Olympus occurred. Many of the heroes have moved past their demigod/demigoddess questing days. Luckily for the 7, no major quest has been launched, no goddess/primordial/titan has decided to ruin the peace.
Many of the demigods have thoroughly loved living this new life of peace. No war, no great prophecy looming over children. As many love this peace, many also become restless. You know, having a bunch of demigod children in one place, especially with most having at best severe ADHD, may bring some the want to do SOMETHING.
Enough said, as you may know, peace is never long lasting, especially for children of the Gods…

(3rd Person POV)
Three boys were walking around their neighborhood. All of them the age 11, as they all just got back from their birthday party! They walked, talking, laughing, and enjoying their ignorant bliss to the world.
The boy on the left, a cut blond haired boy with electric blue eyes, walked proudly. He was the strongest out of their entire middle school class, and that day was very interesting at school! He beat everybody in an arm wrestling contest. Which made his friends proud, but also elicited a trip to the nurse's office, and a talk with the principle for doing something so stupid. Dylan Luster was his name, as everybody knew him within the building of school. He was loud, proud, and often times seen as the star, for he could make his voice boom. His skill in video games was insane! He always seems to master any electronic that he put his hands on, and he never failed, but never stuck with it for too long. His smile was legendary to most, and he never struggled achieving his goals, no matter how big or small. Except for one.
The boy on the right, a shaggy dark brown haired boy, much taller than his fellow companions, also with multicolored eyes, but mostly gold. He was a lot quieter, seemed much more mellowed and level-headed. He spoke with conviction in his voice, and when a subject was on something of his interest, he never failed to open his mouth. Being the largest, he was also a 'punching bag'. Not in literal terms, luckily, but thoroughly enjoyed taking the blows and using them, with his own custom flare, and launching them back. He was a legend as well in school, for being one of the tallest in school, but also for being a comedian. Avery Lily was his name, as many tried and failed to make fun of his name.
The boy in the middle, the hardest to describe. He had brown hair that was cut along the side, but long on the top, sometimes covering his forehead and other times waved up along the top. As they walked, they continued to laugh as this boy struggled with hair, but enjoying it nonetheless. He was a legend in his own right. He had blue eyes, but blue eyes of royal, with white and green streaks swirling within his pools of eyes. Many a person would complement this boy on his eyes, as his eyes would reflect his emotions by how bright or dark they were. His eyes currently were lit up in pure excitement, and drawn out happiness from their bliss. His eyes, however, showed a hidden wisdom. Almost as if he has seen things many didn't know, many didn't hear, and sure as hell didn't speak about. He walked in between both boys, enticing the conversation and contributing within things they both knew, and cracking jokes along with them. They enjoyed themselves as they walked out of their neighborhood. His name was CJ, CJ Mead. CJ wasn't the boys real name, but saying his name was more cursed then breaking an oath on the Styx.
These boys were walking to a field at the edge of their neighborhood, which they called the baseball field. It had a major dip in the ground, a small river, and a tall rock at the top of the hill, in which they would play capture the flag, dodgeball, baseball, and other games as children may play. On the way to each position, Avery in the dip, Dylan on the rock, and CJ at the river, they watched as a puppy walked into the clearing from the woods.
"Yo guys, do you see that thing in the middle?" shouted Dylan from his hilltop toward the other two. He hopped off his rock with grace and ease and began getting closer to his friends.
Avery, unsure of his question, shouted back, "You mean the puppy?" and he too walked towards the river. Where his friends were residing by.
"Is that a puppy? It keeps, flickering? What is THAT?" said CJ, enticing all three to look at the puppy. The puppy sniffed into the air and howled, but it was no ordinary puppy.
The three watched as it seemed as mist seem to clear from their eyes, and the puppy was no longer a puppy. It was a large dog that looked like it crawled out of hell. It was pitch black with glowing red eyes. As it ended its howl, it turned towards the boys, snarling as drool fell out of its mouth. It slowly crept towards them, with a look almost similar to a homeless man winning the jackpot, like a god.
"What the heck is that guys?" said the boy of the river, feeling the fear of his friends near him. The hell dog was getting closer.
"I don't know, and don't care, RUN!" said Dylan.
The boys turned and ran alongside of the small river, running with the fear of their lives in their hand. Dylan was running in the front, being the fastest, with Avery being behind him, and CJ pulling up the rear. CJ was faster than Avery, but didn't seem as scared for his life, what had that boy seen?
Dylan tripped on a snake hole and fell into one of the ditches on the rough path. The boys heard many more howls in the distance, and the thundering of feet not too far away. Avery fearing for his friend's life, lifted his friend as fast as he could to save one of his two best friends. The ground seemed to rise as he lifted his friend, but he chose to ignore it.
Dylan also felt the ground rising, but in this situation as a child, also chose to ignore it. Dylan also felt much lighter, almost launching himself out of the hole with Avery's help and next to Avery.
The boys continued running, but could hear the howls coming from their left, continuing to ruin their only escape path to the safety of their neighborhood, turned harshly right to be met with the river, cornering them between a river, and almost certain mauling.
CJ, having stopped and all the boys being out of breath next to the river, turned to face the dogs. He was terrified, but also calm. The boys behind them could feel the water rising behind them, and turned to their closest friend in their lives, in awe but in fear.
The boy stood tall, and also noticed the water at his feet. Weird, when did I step in the river? He thought. He took in his surroundings with his eyes, very quickly staring at the dogs with an unseen fury.
Many of the dogs were snarling, closing in on the boys all grouped up together. fearing for their lives.
It didn't make sense to the boy, why he was always in danger, and why the ones he cares about the most always get brought into said danger. He could never feel safe and he was terrified of it, but was absolutely done.
"FUCK. OFF!" roared the boy of the river, and that statement was true. He was the river, or at least the river responded to him. The water shot out as tendrils of condensed water, almost ice but not, and stabbed each of the dogs in front of him, with precision unknown to him. Every beast that came into contact with the water disintegrated with the precision water spear blowing through the center of their eyes.
Each dog turned into a fluff of gold powder, which dispersed onto the ground and the winds, which had been whipped up for unknown reasons, spread the gold very thin, until it was gone, every trace of the dogs disappeared with the water slowly flowing back into the river. The only memoir of the hellish hounds was stained memories of the boys.
Currently however, the boys were not worried at all about the dogs being gone, but more so worried about what. Just. Happened?
"CJ?" asked Avery, his voice very shaky and the fear for his friends had turned slightly into the fear of his friend.
"What did you just do?" Asked Dylan. "How did you do that, why, what the heck just happened to the RIVER?"
CJ, having heard his friends and turned to them, both with awe and fear and many other emotions far out of their vocabulary staining their faces, answers with a lop-sided grin, his signature one, "uhm, I believed I just dealt with our problem?" he sighed, his facing going serious and turning to his friends and looking them in the eyes, "I think we should go home, or at least to one of our houses, I don't know what just happened. I do not feel safe out here, not after those things came out here."
The other two boys nodded their heads in silence, and they ran home, to CJ's room in the basement, but not after saying hi and giving CJ's mom a quick hug and ran to his room in silence and fear.
It was truly hard for them to understand what just happened to them, but everything was adding up. Between Avery seemingly moving the Earth, Dylan almost flying, and CJ's rage turning to water spears.
Each shared their own power, after retelling each portion of their tale, understanding which power associated with each person, but caused Dylan to think he could control the earth, and could super jump, which was a silly conversation for them to figure out. They all had something similar to their experience, a small pull of their gut, but what they did with it makes all the difference.
They ended the night, sharing CJ's room, as they were already planning to spend the night at CJ's that night. With many questions left unanswered, but many also understood. They fell asleep with symbols floating in their dreams. One a black helmet, with an almost gold power floating in the realm of the dreams. Another being a lightning bolt, a true feeling in the Dream world. Lastly, a trident, reacting and moving within the emotions in the dreams, or better known as the realm of Morpheus.
