Champions of Fire: Chapter Two

(3rd Person POV)

Many days later, after the incident with the dogs, a new person moved into their neighborhood. As the boys normally with tradition, would bring a gift basket to the new house and see if they had any kids to come play and join them!

People have come and gone from the neighborhood, which hurt them but never stopped their kindness to the new neighbors.

As Dylan was knocking on the door, he looked back towards his two friends. "I make a bet that they don't have any kids."

"Nah, I could've sworn that I saw at least one kid our age." Said Avery. Living in a house on one of the highest hills in the neighborhood gave him almost an overview of the rest of the neighborhood.

CJ shifted, holding the container with all their gifts. Inside this gift container, they had many spring themed foods and items. "It doesn't matter if they have a kid or not, just as long they are friendly, I don't want another crazy lady incident."

The boys laughed at the incident that happened many months ago, one that was scary but now hilarious. But that seemed as that was a story for another day when they heard the door creak open.

Another boy, who looked as if he was a similar age to us, opened the door. He had long blonde bushy hair, that covered most of his forehead. He was wearing long blue jeans, even though the weather had started getting warmer.

"Hi, what can I do for you guys?" said the figure.

"Welcome to the neighborhood!" said Dylan, he figured the boy was similar to their age, so he started being extremely friendly.

"Here is a gift basket, a welcoming gift!" said CJ, happy another boy their age moved in.

The boy stood aback, unsure of what to do. He seemed to be brought out of his stupor when a voice inside the house, "who is it David?"

The boy, now known as David smiled, "my new friends! Can I go outside to play?"

(TIME SKIP NERD)

The boys, now all four having been in the same grade, same school, same bus ride, same neighborhood, and same friends, got along fantastically! As time had passed, they are now in summer, which meant more time to play and they can stay up later, and have more sleepovers!

Still, however, the original trio had never seen their friend's legs, and he had a slight limp in both of his legs. The boys never thought too much of it, but decided that one night, over in CJ's basement, they would reveal the story of their powers to their new friend.

All the boys gathered on the couch next to the bed. The room was all white walled, with a desk in one corner, with a game system and a monitor. In the middle of said wall was a couch, a chair, and a bed. The bed was positioned in the corner of the room, and further away was the bathroom, opposite of the bed. The closet, which was small in comparison to the rest of the room, lay in the corner next to the bathroom. In the middle of the room was a small table, and in front of the couch and table was a very large stand holding a TV. Avery, jumped over the couch and started the conversation lightly, "Hey David, if you had any magical powers, what powers would you choose?"

David, smiled and new his answer immediately, "I would want powers over pollution! I want to take it all away from my –sorry- from nature in general!"

Dylan, laughed slightly and said, "not powers over wind?"

"or earth in general?" said the golden eyed boy.

"what about water?" said CJ.

David seemed to laugh but behind his eyes, almost imperceptible, was fear. "so you guys figured out part of your powers! That is fantastic, but we are behind schedule here." Then he started muttering to himself.

The boys were terrified; how did he know about our powers? They thought almost in sync. David starting speaking again, no longer just to himself but was almost impossible to hear because of the music playing in the room. Dylan, being closest to their friend, asked, "what are you talking about?"

David laughed, and said something that should have never been said, "You guys don't know your real fathers, right?"

The boys were stunned, but subtly nodded each of their heads, looking at the ground. CJ almost had tears in his eyes.

David continued, "so that means its time, pack your stuff," He was stern, standing up as he spoke, and started towards the stairs.

"What do you mean? I can't just leave, none of us can." Said CJ. "I can't just leave my mom either as well, you know that?"

Avery spoke next, "yeah, and where would we go? Why do we have to leave?" Before Dylan could pipe up, David cut him off, "To somewhere safe, your no longer safe and no longer protected by the Mist.

Fear set in, as it had not been much more than a month since they had run away from the beasts.

"What about our families? What do we say or do?" asked Dylan. He, along with the others, were very confused on what was happening or what to do with the fact that they were having to leave.

"I already had that handled, thanks to Perseus' wishes, which you will find out later, we must go, NOW!" David then grabbed the boys, and ran out the back door of CJ's basement, which led to them tripping up the stairs and towards David's house.

David them slammed open the door, and pushed the boys inside, slamming and locking the door behind him. "Kayden, I have the boys, we move out NOW!" He yelled as something slammed into the front door. Everybody turned and saw the door almost rupturing, splinters falling off the edge of the door frame. The boys paled and looked towards their saviors.

The person David was yelling for, Kayden, stomped down the stairs and stepped with elegance. She looked no older than 12, and was shorter than all the boys. She had long wavy hair, auburn in color. Her eyes were also similar, a deep dark brown looking similar to pools of honey. She was wearing a bright orange t-shirt that had the words –CAMP HALF-BLOOD- written on the front. She was also wearing dark black pants, that looked like it had more secret pockets than any pair of pants that the boys had.

"Okay, we move, David. You follow behind, last man." Said Kayden, ushering themselves towards what would be the family room, but actually was far different.

In the family room was a waterfall looking device, with many different lights in different places associated with it. It was stone in color and water cascaded down the front, into a small pool below it and flowed behind the stone covering. It seemed almost built into the wall and was rockier than expected, looking almost natural except for the lights.

Kayden stepped forward in front of the group, still hearing the banging on the door. Many creaks and cracks were heard, indicating the door did not have much left to give.

With a flick of a switch off to the side, all the lights turned on, and a massive rainbow was formed. With a coin of unknown origin to the boys, Kayden flipped the coin into the rainbow and started, "Oh Iris, Goddess of rainbows, show me Camp Half-Blood."

The rainbow shimmered, and the coin did not hit the ground, dully noted by CJ. The rainbow then changed, and showed a camp, almost like a summer camp. It had many details that the boys subtly noticed, but the cracking of the door, almost shattering, brought them all out of their stupor.

"Walk into the rainbow, now, we don't have time." Said Kayden, sweat forming on her brow. She was holding both her arms in place and seemed to be struggling.

The boys seamlessly shrugged at each other and walked towards the rainbow, Dylan first, Avery second, and CJ hesitated as he heard the final crush of the door. He turned back to look at Kayden and David.

Kayden was brought to her knees struggling, and David was standing looking at the door in a mix of terror and confidence. David looked at his new friend with fear, and started running towards the rainbow, stopping and picking up Kayden almost seamlessly in his arms. She was so focused on holding the door it seemed as if she didn't even notice she was moving.

CJ, noticing it was time to go, turned towards the house in one last look, and saw fire starting to creep on the floorboards, burning and burning with no end in sight.

The boy with a certain affinity for water, stepped through the door and appeared in the camp, not very far in front of him was his friends, Dylan and Avery, and behind him was David, and a passed out Kayden in his arms.

(LINEBREAK GO GET SOMETHING TO EAT LINEBREAK)

The boys entered the camp, with awe in their eyes, any traces of fear gone without a trace. To their right, was the houses, which had 13 major houses, or bunk houses with the looks of them, and hundreds of tiny houses behind each of them. In front of them was a massive stage, later to be known as an amphitheater by David. Behind this stage, was a hill with a massive rock in the shape of a fist. It seemed as though they were surrounded by woods, but not a scary forest.

They proceeded to walk to their left, which had a large building to the path's left. To their right, was another split in the path, which led to an arena, which had many kids from their age to almost adults spending time within. CJ looked around in awe, Dylan with pride, and Avery was confused, jaw almost on the floor.

"This place is so COOL!" said CJ, he looked at all the swords, bows, spears, and other assorted weapons around the place!

Dylan nodded in agreement, and Avery piped up, "what about our moms? I'm sure my mom won't like me disappearing through a rainbow without me asking."

David only chuckled, "Don't worry, all of your questions will be answered shortly." Then he pushed open the door, with a bit of a struggle with Kayden still in his arms, and kicked it all the way opened.

Inside of the big house was a man in a wheel chair, sitting at a wooden desk facing the door, seamlessly talking through a rainbow on the desk, "-yes ma'am, I assure you that Dylan will call at least once a week. Do not worry, he will be perfectly fine." He then looked up and noticed the five of them at the door. "It seems they have arrived now! Have a wonderful evening Ms. Luster," and swiped through the rainbow.

Dylan then stammered, obviously flustered about having to call his mom, "uhm sir, this is one big house, and one question; where are we?"

The man chuckled for a minute, "son, this is called the Big house, and you are currently at Camp Half-blood!" He threw his arms out and continued, "where children of the gods reside with safety, and train to become heroes."

"Gods sir? What do you mean?" said CJ.

"Oh my boy, let me guess, all three of you are restless in class, see things that others don't, and don't know your fathers?"

All three nodded solemnly, and the man then leaned back and gestured towards the chairs in front of him. "Take a seat boys, this will be long. David, take Kayden to the room in the back, and leave some ambrosia on the nightstand, thank you for your service."

David only nodded, and walked into the room unseen from the boy's spots, and walked back out not a moment later, and the boys finally noticed a few things.

Firstly, part of David's pants had burned from the fire, and they now showed that he was no ordinary boy. He had very hairy legs, and feet that didn't seem to make sense. He also had little horns poking through the top of his head, just slightly bigger than his mass of curly hair.

"Is she going to be okay?" said by Avery, worry ever present in his voice, looking up at David.

"This is normal, she just overused her powers with all five of us having to walk through the rainbow, she will be fine by tomorrow." Stated David, and he bid his goodbye's and left the boys very lost.

"First off, my name is Chiron, and I am the director of this camp." Stated the man, and the boys properly introduced themselves.

"As I was saying, do any of you know the gods from the Greek Pantheon?" Avery shook his head no, CJ yes, and Dylan only looked confused and raise his hand, "What's a Parthenon?"

Chiron chuckled, "a Pantheon, my boy, is the belief system to the gods. The gods in our world are Greek, so each god has their respective powers. Each god has their domains, or powers, and is to be respected. The thirteen Olympians are in power, Hestia, goddess of the hearth and family, Hades, god of the Underworld and Dead, Poseidon, god of the Ocean, and Zeus, lord of the gods and god of Lightning and the skies, are just a few examples." He stopped and waited for any questions, then continued

"The gods have always existed, and live here in America. They mate with mortals, such as your parents, and here you are." He finished.

The boys sat in awe, and confusion, "Do you know who our dads are?" asked the boy with Electric blue eyes.

"Not exactly, we have to wait for you to be claimed by your respective parent. It's simple, you will have a floating symbol above your head and will stay there until it is noticed. But my boys, you must be hungry, and dinner is in five minutes, so please, follow me."

The man in the wheelchair proceeded to stand up, in which surprised the boys, for two reasons.

Firstly, the man was in a wheelchair, and as far as they knew, you couldn't stand if you sat in a wheelchair.

But secondly, the man was not a man, but his lower half expanded to the size of a horse.

"Oh, why I almost forgot, I am a centaur, half man half horse." Said the centaur.

The boys only nodded and followed Chiron out of the Big house, towards the tables in front of each of the bunk houses arranged in a horseshoe. They walked to one of the tables and the half horse gestured towards the table, "please, sit and the plates will be out in one moment. After we eat, go towards the amphitheater and find a place to sit and everything else will be answered.

Each of the other tables slowly filled up with other kids, except the table the boys were sitting at, which remained themselves.

"This is so wicked guys!" said Dylan, "I love it here already, so many weapons and people, this is sick!"

Avery then spoke, "this place is really cool, but I wonder when we're going to get food, I'm hungry."

CJ then chuckled, "dude you are always hungry." This comment enticed a laugh from both the boys, and at that moment plates suddenly appeared in front of them.

The boys then looked at the other tables, seeing people dig in right at the moment, and all wondered how do I get food?

With a slight gust of wind, a note seamlessly floated onto the table, in which Avery grabbed and read out loud, "to summon food, just imagine any food or drink on the plate and it will appear."

Each boy then attempted to do so, and each had pizza and different drinks. Dylan and Avery had water, and CJ had Dr. Pepper.

When both boys stared at CJ, he smiled, "Mom's not here to tell me no, I wanted Dr. Pepper!"

All of the boys laughed heartedly, and talked to each other like they were at home. Soon, they all realized that all other conversation and everybody was staring above their heads.

Everybody else stood from their table, and bowed deeply. The boys in confusion looked up and saw a black helmet, a lightning bolt, and a trident.

Chiron, walked forward, in between all the tables and announced, "All hail, Dylan Luster, son of Zeus, Avery Lily, son of Hades, and CJ Mead, son of Poseidon.

Hi guys! I hope you liked the chapter! I will start introducing my other characters soon, so don't worry. But I also am going back to work in a few days, so I can't write and post everyday like I have for the past chapters. But I will try my best!

Have a great day! Luv. -Echo
