"Are we really calling them Spirit Rangers?" Casey asked, furrowing his brow at Kali.

Kali shrugged. "Why not?" she asked. "They're Power Rangers that use the Spirit animals of Bat, Elephant, and Shark. Last I checked, Masters Finn, Phant, and Swoop weren't Rangers."

"True. All right, fair enough, Spirit Rangers it is," said Casey. "What I'm still stumbling on, however, is how Dai Shi managed to get our own masters to turn against us."

"I don't think he has, exactly," said RJ. "I think they're being controlled. Manipulated, if you want."

"But how?" Casey asked.

"Could he have brain washed them?" Lily asked.

"He could be using magic," said Xander. "He is part of the Mystic Realm."

Kali shook her head. "If it were magic, I'd sense it," she said. "What about the Crystal Eyes?" she suggested, glancing at RJ and Rylie.

"That's a possibility," said Rylie, nodding. "The Crystal Eyes aren't just a storage place for Phantom Beast Generals. They can also be used as conduits between magical creatures and with Rinzin powers, the Generals would be more than powerful to control the master's through the conduits."

"But how is the Rinzin able to do that?" Theo asked.

"Well, it's like a mental connection," said Rylie. "The Rinzin controls the Animal spirit through the eyes, and projects it into a corporeal being in real time."

Dom cleared his throat. "You've lost me totally," he admitted. "Just tell me how to destroy them."

"Destroy them?" RJ asked, blinking. "I have no idea. Right now, I'm just hoping to slow them down."

"What?" Theo gasped.

Kali frowned and glanced his way. He was reading a note that Fran had just passed him, before silently excusing himself and walking over to the phone beside RJ's chair.

"So, tell me, how is that thing going to slow the Spirit Rangers down?" Casey asked, eyeing the device that RJ had created.

RJ lifted the device - a large metal blaster-like device with an aerial prod sticking out of the tip. "It can detect a signal," he explained, pointing the device at the monitors, "and then, if my maths is correct," he flipped a switch and the monitor fizzled out, "it will jam the radio waves."

"Great," Casey grinned.

"Yeah, not so great," said RJ, sighing. "Until we rescue the Masters, the Spirit Rangers are going to keep coming back."

"Then what do we do?" Lily asked.

RJ shrugged and wandered away.

Kali shared a look with Lily, and both turned to follow him, along with Casey and Dom, before stopping as Theo's phone conversation caught their attention.

"I'm sorry, Luan, but I'm wait to busy. Call me. Don't just show up. Bye." Theo put the phone down and turned around.

"Who is Luan?" Lily asked.

Theo sighed and held up the note. "My brother," he said. "He wants to visit."

"I didn't know you had a brother," said Lily, excitedly. She grasped Theo's arm, stopping him from walking away. "What's he like? Older? Younger? Is he cute?"

Kali sniggered at the flicker of jealousy in Theo's face. It was gone before anyone else could notice.

"Nothing like me," said Theo. He deflated and heaved a sigh. "We're day and night."

"Is he going to scold me for putting toppings on a pizza before the cheese?" Kali asked.

Theo shook his head. "No, he'd probably help you do it," he said.

"I like him already," Kali replied, clapping Theo on the shoulder and walking away.

"Do you think RJ's way will work?"

Eithne shrugged and looked up from the Xenotome. "It sounds like it will," she said. "But…"

"There's a but?" Kali asked, confused. Why was there always a 'but'?

"Well, consider this for a second," said Eithne with a sigh. "You severe the link between the master's and the Crystal Eyes, what damage will that do to them? Does RJ know if this plan is harmful or harmless?"

Kali shook her head. "He doesn't," she answered. "But it's the only plan we have. Like I told Xander, if he were using magic then I would sense it, and if I could sense it then we'd have a chance of fighting it. But I couldn't sense anything coming from the Spirit Rangers."

"You wouldn't if they were using Rinzin," said Eithne. "It's an undetectable magic that not even the Hellhound can sense."

"Well, that sucks," Kali muttered.

Eithne nodded. "Our ancestor - Gregory Dale - he was the Ancestor 10,000 years ago," she explained. "He struggled to fight the Phantom Beast Generals, and very nearly lost the war."

"But he only had one head, right?"

"Yes."

Kali looked down at her hands. "You know, I don't fully understand the whole concept of Hellhound Heads," she admitted. "Leanbow has tried explaining it to me, but…" she trailed off, shaking her head.

"Well, you know the legends of a Hellhound, right?" Eithne asked. "How they had three heads?"

"Yeah."

"Well, each legend has a different meaning," said Eithne. "One says that the three heads are link to the Past, Present, and Future. Another says that they are linked to Good, Neutral, and Evil, and another says that they linked to spirits - Natural, Malevolent, and Benevolent."

"What are mine?" Kali asked.

"You are a mixture of Good, Neutral, and Evil," said Eithne, "as well as Natural, Malevolent, and Benevolent. Since becoming the Hellhound, you have encountered spirits from all walks of life, and experienced both good, evil, and neutral magic."

Kali furrowed her brow. "I don't remember encountering neutral magic," she said, curiously.

"The Dark Wish," said Eithne. "You retained magic during the Dark Wish because the Hellhound is a neutral party in the fight against Evil. You, are a guardian of good magic, and all good magic was wiped out during the Dark Wish, but you still had the Hellhound abilities."

"Which is how I could still do magic," said Kali, realising what her mother meant.

Eithne nodded.

"What head did Gregory Dale have 10,000 years ago?" Kali asked, "and what happened to the other two?"

"Dale had the neutral head," said Eithne. "The other two were unknown back then. It wasn't until a few years later that we actually learned that there were three guardians, each with a head infused within them. When we learned that, we made sure that the Mystic Realm was aware of them and prepared to train them."

"So, not all Hellhound head guardians are born in the Mystic Realm?" Kali asked, stunned.

Eithne shook her head. "Our family line originated from the Human world," she said. "One of our ancestors married into the Mystic Realm, and that is how we became a magical line."

"Whoa," said Kali. "That's not in any of the History books."

"No, it's not," said Eithne. "A few years ago, the History books were rewritten, to make it seem that the Hellhound had always been a part of the Mystic Realm. Not everyone in our family tree is happy about our bloodline being diluted with human blood."

Kali rolled her eyes. "They'd love me, then," she said. "I have a human family."

"But not biologically."

"Whatever. Anyway, back to the subject of the Masters," said Kali. "How can I severe the link between them and the Crystal Eyes if I can't stop Rinzin magic?"

Eithne sighed and shook her head. "You don't," she said.

"What, but, there has to be a way!" Kali argued. "We can't just do nothing! We're the Mystic Force! It's our duty to protect the Magical World and those within it, we can't forsake Finn, Swoop, and Phant, not after everything they've done for us."

"I'm sorry, Kali, but without the proper tools this isn't a battle you can win," said Eithne.

Kali sighed and pushed away from the table. "You're wrong," she said, shaking her head. "There is a way to save them, I know there is."

"Kali," Eithne called. But Kali ignored her and quickly left Root core.

RJ smiled lightly as Kali joined him and Theo in the courtyard of JKP. "You okay?" he asked, noting the angry disappointment in her eyes. "You look… annoyed."

"You can say that," said Kali, nodding. She heaved a sigh and run a hand through her hair. "I just blew up at my mother and stormed out of Root core."

Theo and RJ shared a look.

"What happened?" Theo asked.

"I asked her for a way to save the master's using magic," Kali explained. "And she said there wasn't one. Apparently, without the proper equipment, I'm supposed to sit back and do nothing."

"But you can't do that," said RJ.

Kali nodded. "It's not fair," she said. "In the last two years, I have been told that there is nothing I can't do. That the Mystic Realm can do anything and is always there for its own. But now, suddenly, we aren't meant to be?"

"It doesn't sound like we aren't meant to be there for the Masters," said Theo. "It seems that there isn't a way to be there for them right now. But that doesn't mean there won't be a way in the future. Not everything has a magical solution to it, you know, and you shouldn't always rely on magic to help you."

"When did you get so wise?" Kali asked, frowning at him,

Theo smiled and shrugged. "I guess you're rubbing off on me," he said.

Kali smiled lightly. "What have you two been up to?" she asked, eyeing the signal jammer in RJ's hands.

"We've been testing it out," said RJ.

"It works on television waves, radio waves, and light waves," said Theo. "But," he added, turning to RJ, "will it work on the Spirit Rangers?"

RJ shrugged. "I guess we'll find out," he sighed.

Light music echoed through the cracked window of the pizza parlour. Kali frowned and glanced at her two companions. "When did you get live entertainment?" she asked RJ.

"I haven't," RJ replied. He led the way into the parlour, pausing and raising an eyebrow as he spotted the entertainer sitting on the table of a booth, strumming a guitar between his fingers.

Kali stopped short as she peered through the small crowd, her head snapped to Theo and then back again. "Um… I've heard that everyone has a doppelgänger in the world, but this is…" she said.

"Luan," said Theo.

"As in your brother Luan?" Kali asked.

Theo nodded.

"Oh. When you said you had a brother, I thought you meant and older/younger one," said Kali. "I never would've guessed twin. Although, now I think about it, you didn't actually say if he was older or younger than you."

Theo sighed as the music ended.

"The-oh!" Luan chimed, jumping down from the table, and pushing through the crowd. He wrapped his brother in a hug and then stepped back. "Your friends are great! They thought I was you. After you got an extreme makeover, guitar lessons, and fashion sense." He chuckled.

Kali shook her head and followed RJ into the kitchen.

"What's up?" Kali as RJ and Casey entered the loft later that afternoon. They both looked nervous.

"Dominic was supposed to deliver a pizza over an hour ago and he hasn't done it yet," said RJ. "He also hasn't returned."

"He probably ate it," said Kali.

"That's what Fran said, too," said Casey. "But, what if he didn't? What if he didn't get around to delivering it because something has happened to him?"

Kali furrowed her brow. "You're thinking the Spirit Rangers or the Phantom Beasts?" she asked.

"Either," said Casey.

"Well, the monitors would've picked up activity if there was Rinshi in the city," said Chip. "Right?"

"Yeah, but the Phantom Beast aren't regular Rinshi," said Kali, folding her arms. She reached out and took the slip of paper from RJ and inspected the scrawled handwriting of Fran's. "This address is in the warehouse district," she turned her attention to Casey. "It's the same place you took one when you were attacked by Porker, remember?"

Casey nodded. He remembered the Pig Rinshi, but not the exact address.

"Who orders pizza to the warehouse district?" Maddie asked.

"Factory workers on a lunch break?" Xander asked.

"Or Phantom Beasts trying to lure unsuspecting Rangers into a trap," said Casey. He met Kali's gaze. "We should check it out."

Kali nodded and turned to the other Mystics. "Stay here," she said. "We'll call if we need backup."

"What about Theo?" Vida asked.

"His brother's in town," said Kali, shaking her head. "We can't risk him coming with us and Luan following."

Vida nodded.

"Hey," said Nick, separating from the group and following Kali towards the door. Casey and RJ shared a look and stepped away from the couple, knowing full well that Kali would catch up. "You be careful, alright?"

Kali smiled and kissed him gently. "I'll see you later," she said. She squeezed his hand and took off after the others.

Nick sighed as he watched her go.

RJ turned to Kali and Casey as they found the JKP scooter abandoned in the warehouse district. The back had been opened and the pizza was missing, but so was Dominic.

"Don't tell me he actually did eat the pizza," said Kali, rolling her eyes.

"The engine is cold," said Casey, wandering over. "It's been sitting here a while."

"Uh-oh," said RJ. The signal jammer bleeped, and the trio glanced at it as RJ elevated it into the air in front of them. "That's not good."

"Neither is that," said Kali, nodding at the sky where dark clouds were rolling in. Thunder rumbled and lightning clashed against the greyness. A streak of lightning hit the ground, and the Spirit Rangers appeared before them.

Casey sighed and glanced at Kali. "Ready?" he asked.

"Do we have a choice?" Kali asked. She turned to RJ. "You sure that thing is going to work?"

"Guess we're about to find out," said RJ, readying the device.

With a growl, the Spirit Rangers charged.

Splitting away from the others, Kali deflected a blow from the Bat Ranger. She ducked under his punch and spun around, raising her leg, and kneeing him in the side. He stumbled but regained his footing quickly, before grabbing her arm as she swung a punch at him; he twisted her wrist and she pivoted to the left, following it through as she flipped over.

With Kali's arm still caught in his grasp, the Bat Ranger uppercut with his free hand and collided his fist into her stomach. She groaned and hunched over, leaving her chest exposed for his knee. Kali coughed as she stumbled away.

Chuckling, the Bat Ranger strode towards Kali, without hesitating or waiting for her to catch her breath.

"Alright," said Kali, taking a deep breath. She reached into her pocket and withdrew her sunglasses. "Jungle Beast, Spirit Unleashed!"

Reaching Kali, the Bat Ranger stretched out his arms and grabbed her shoulders. He hauled her into the air with unimaginable strength and threw her over his head.

"Whoa!" Kali squeaked, rolling across the gravel. She stumbled back to her feet and raised her arm, blocking a second attack as the Bat Ranger struck down at her. "NICK!" she cried, as the Bat Ranger lifted her up a second time and threw her into the side of a building.

"Kali, are you okay?"

Kali coughed. "Nick…" she croaked, her whole-body aching. She peered through her visor as the Bat Ranger shoved aside tin barrels and wooden pallets, in his bid to get at her again.

"Kali, can you hear me? Hang on! I'm coming!"

Reaching across her chest, Kali clutched her left arm to her side and struggled back to her feet. Despite her body's loud protest to stop, she forced herself to face the Spirit Ranger, her hands clenching into fists as she shoved away from the wall.

"Claw Booster!" Kali called, holding up her weapon as it materialised in her hand. "Jungle Master Mode! Firing Jets!" She launched herself into the air, hovering just above the Spirit Ranger before dropping, raising her claw booster above her head, and striking down with it.

The Spirit Ranger stepped back, narrowly missing the attack. He then spun around and kicked out with his left leg, smacking the bridge of his foot into Kali's side. She sucked in a breath as she stumbled sideways, falling into a forward roll and landing on back. She rolled over onto her side as Casey and RJ landed beside her.

"This is not going to plan," Casey said, breathing hard.

"Where's the signal jammer?" Kali asked, noticing that RJ was empty handed.

RJ nodded toward the vicinity of the warehouse. "The Phantom Beast knocked it somewhere over there," he answered. "Without it, we can't stop them."

"Guys!" Theo called, arriving on the edge of the battle. He was too far away to be of any real help, though.

Dynamere roared as he landed between the trio of Rangers and Theo. His hand glowed as he raised it until it was level with his shoulder, he then threw it out at the trio, palm up and fingers extended. Three glowing discs soared through the air, each one hitting RJ, Casey, and Kali square in the chest.

The last thing Kali saw, before everything went dark, was Nick and the other Mystic's appearing behind Theo. She met Nick's gaze, and then he was gone.

"No!" Nick yelled.

Dynamere laughed as he stooped down to pick up the three discs. "Ha! My mirrors are six for six," he grunted. "Not bad."

"Six for six?" Maddie asked, glancing at Theo. "How can he have all six if you're still here?"

Theo furrowed his brow. It was a valid question. How could the Phantom Beast have captured him if he -?

"Luan!" Theo gasped.

"It makes sense," said Chip. "You are twins, after all. It would've been an easy mistake to make."

Theo clenched his fists and looked around. He needed a way to save his brother and the other Rangers.

"Hey, that's RJ's jammer," said Xander. He bypassed the others and headed for the JKP scooter, in the shadows of which lay the signal disruptor. He picked it up carefully, watching as the lights blinked and it chirped in his hands. "It still works."

"Excellent," said Theo, taking the disruptor from him. He turned his attention to Dynamere. "Hey! Over here."

Dynamere stopped and turned, his eyes widening as he took in Theo. "What? Impossible!" he grunted. "I've already captured you in my mirrors!"

"You got the wrong brother," said Theo, "and you'll pay for it."

"Get him!" Dynamere ordered.

Stepping in front of Theo, the Mystics snapped open their morphers.

"Ready?" Nick asked.

"Ready!"

"Legendary Source, Mystic Force!"

Fully equipped and ready for anything, the others surged forwards while Nick turned to Theo. "We'll deal with the spirit Rangers," he said, holding his hands out for the signal disruptor. "You get your brother and the others."

"Okay!" said Theo, handing over the device and running off toward Dynamere. He slipped his sunglasses from his pocket and onto his face, tapping the side as he kicked off from the ground. "Jungle Beast, Spirit Unleashed! Jungle Master Mode!"

He landed, striking down with his Claw Booster.

At the end of the week, Kali entered the loft to find Luan packing away his things and Theo attempting to play a guitar. "I go away for a few days and you guys decide to swap identities," she teased, tossing a pair of balled up socks at Theo's head.

Luan chuckled as Theo threw Kali a glare. "I was wondering how this place was a Ranger short," he said. "How was your days off? Spend them doing anything daring?"

"If you call being mystic training daring, then yeah," Kali said, picking up her book and settling herself on the couch in the kitchen. She kicked off her shoes and lay back against the plumped-up pillows, her feet planted on the cushions, and her book resting against her thighs.

Luna folded his sweater and placed it inside his suitcase.

"Hey, Luan, your taxi is here," said Dom, sticking his head around the doorframe.

"I'll be right down," said Luan, smiling.

Dom winked and disappeared.

"How do you get your fingers to sat in the right place?" Theo asked, his fingers slipping for the fourth time along the guitar strings. He sighed and turned to his brother.

"Years of practice," Luan answered. "When you guys fly through the air, kind of flip around and hit that warrior? How did you do that?"

"Practice," said Theo, setting the guitar back in its case. "For years."

Kali smirked. "Wow. Do you guys actually have something in common?" she asked.

Luan smiled and grabbed his suitcase. "Look, Theo, I'm sorry I called your Kung Fu a waste of time," he apologised. "I couldn't have been more wrong."

"Are you saying that because you mean it, or because the Kung Fu lead to your brother being a Power Ranger?" Kali asked. "Because, if it's the second one, that's kind of shady."

"Ignore her," said Theo. "She's always cranky after Mystic training."

"I am not," Kali gasped.

Theo shot her a look; his eyebrow raised slightly.

"Geeze. Way to call a girl out," Kali whined, hiding behind her book again.

Luan chuckled.

"I'm also sorry that I dissed on your adventures," said Theo, turning back to his brother. "Truth is, I've always been proud of you."

Kali hid a smile as the pair hugged it out.
