The Boy In Rags II
He was numb and cold, the feeling was strange yet felt somewhat familiar, although, he can't tell exactly when or why because to him it was only that, a feeling.
Then, he heard the loud pattering sound it was the sound of downpouring rain hitting the unforgiving land, now that he thought about it the raining noise sounded muffled as if he was somewhere indoor. Another question formed his mind: where was here?
He wasn't left to wonder any further as his eye fluttered open and was welcomed by an unfamiliar ceiling. Little did he know he'll be seeing more unfamiliar sights than he could handle.
And, just as he was starting to concern himself of his whereabouts, the bushy, raven-head man popped another question, one that made the issue of him awaken in an unfamiliar ground seemed minute.
Who was he again?
The next morning Harry visits the Pantheon with a heavy heart, the yesterday's incident as the sole reason for his somber mood.
After a whole night of thinking on his bed, Harry concluded his action as overdone and that he believes he should have handled the situation better instead of overreacting after a moment of panic.
Despite the fact that the spell he used towards the werewolf adventurer caused no harm or any effects, it baffles the bushy-haired teen a bit that he resorted to the way he act almost immediately as if he has done countless times. Whatsmore, he has done not once, or twice but thrice.
Ever since he discovered the terrifying power behind such a spell of altering minds, suspicions and doubts began to develop in his mind if the spell is ever related to the loss of his own memories. Until now, doubts are left hanging, and questions are still answered.
Eventually, Harry learned to dislike using the spell despite his frequent use of it.
He himself knows what it feels like to have the void feeling of having your own past memories lost, and yet, there he was forcing unto someone else's mind and yet he admittedly used said spell three times since his awakening. Being flustered at that time is not enough to excuse his actions.
Once Harry enters the building, he hurries his steps and walks past the busy crowds, and heads to the reception table where some of the staff usually gather.
The buzzing whispers from the crowd do not help his mood either. By no means does Harry know better than to get affected by them since most of the rumors about him are total bollocks, other times he'll simply cast his latest discovered spell on himself which makes him go unnoticed and practically invisible to the crowd. Harry, at the moment, isn't having any of it.
Harry in his overused-looking clothes, becomes bare to the crowds' gossip and with his vulnerable mind of state he almost lets the whispers get the better of him, then he suddenly hears his name being called.
Harry-san?" a pitched voice snaps him slightly from his thoughts.
"Are you alright?"
Harry tilts his head and meets the green bespectacled eyes of the female half-elf, he can see the worried look on her face. Unrelenting, Harry has somehow able to swallow the panic back and clears his throat before he gives his reply.
He answers, "I'm fine, Tulle- san I'm usually still not up so early," he says to her as he smiles sheepishly.
For a moment, she narrows her eyes in disbelief then sighs in defeat.
"If you say so," she says, Harry notices her shoulder sagging in relief.
"What about you, is everything alright?" Harry questions back.
Eina nods, "I'm doing fine as well. Now that I see you I am..." At her words, Harry peers curiously at the elf when a light shade of blush covers her face in realization,
" I-I mean, there was an emergency report from the Loki Familia of minotaurs fleeing from the middle floors to the lower. I know you usually hang out at the fifth floor so when I heard a minotaur got so far to the fifth..." Eina trailed at her words but then shakes her head as if she's shaking away a bad thought.
" All that matters is you're fine and unharmed," she says with much resolve, her smile lighter than before which adds another guilt to the bushy- hair teen.
"Now that's done, before you go to the dungeon, how about we talk more a bit about yesterday with a cup of tea." Eina offers to Harry which earned her a genuine smile from him. A tea sounds lovely.
"That would be wonderful."
One brief story-telling later, Harry, to his relief accepted his side of the edited version of the story which purposefully left out any information of him single-handedly defeating a what is considered a monster not meant for rookie adventurers to fight against or it will not end well for them.
Harry ends up telling her the edited version from the Minotaur incident, leaving out the details that mainly involves him single-handled (wandedly, budumpt tss~)
Harry and Eina have occupied a seat and are sat across each other at the small area of the guild typically used for private conversation, but for a good measure, Harry discreetly casts a static-like but harmless kind of barrier around them that inteferes the channel of the sound which gives channel noises outide the little barrier.
No matter how loud the people gets inside the barrier the outsiders/eavesdroppers can hear nothing but buzzing noises.
"I see, Loga-san arrived just in time and defeated the monster before you can do anything...is that all?" Eina summarizes as she glances at him for his, Harry gives her a nod.
" Hmm, that's strange. I thought I heard a report about Loga-san acting odd yesterday. " Eina starts, her tone dubious, it never sound good. She continues as Harry gulps in fear of a possible error at his casting and facing Eina's wrath.
"R-really. How so?"
" According to one of the members of Familia, when Loga-san was asked about the minotaur he answered cluelessly and only remembered one minotaur that Wallenstein-san defeated" So it wasn't about malcasting.
" A concussion, maybe? Sound pretty serious."
"Harry."
" Yes, ma'am!" He blurts out instictively. At his reaction, Eina's eyes soften.
" I was requested by our guild head himself to guide you and not to ask further questions of what you do and I will respect your wishes with or without your order.
Maybe its a bit too early for us to earn trust from each other, but I hope you'll rely on me, Harry-san as your concerned advisor"
Listening to her words, the wizard has his head hang low in guilt and shame.
" My apologies, Tulle-san I didn't mean to cause you worry. I still can't tell you about some things yet, frankly, I don't even know myself well either ever since I woke up only to found out I lost most of my memories, but I am grateful for what you and your familia done for me. For that I Thank you!"
Harry bows at Eina causing the half-elf to fluster at her seat, meanwhile surprise himself when he didn't knock off his glasses at the amount force as he bows.
"I-I'm just doing my job, Harry-san really, no need to bow for me please get up, its embarassing."
To Eina, seeing that no one was seriously harmed from yestarday's incident the half-elf reluctantly accepted at the mere fact that she may never know, not a single clue on what really transpired during the Minotaur incident.
An awkward moment later, silence engulfed the atmosphere for a while that Harry can faintly hear the static sound from his barrier.
Feeling responisble at the cause for the awkwardness Harry iniated a new topic.
"Sooo, by the way I think need a new weapon. " Eina's head perk at his words as another smile starting to form her lips for many time now in such a short time. Harry can sense her relief at the normalcy of the said topic.
Meanwhile, Eina is more than glad to help him out in giving the boy tips and advice.
" Really? That's great to hear then. I was worried you're not going to ask me about that. I understand you are a mage and you can use magic but carrying a weapon for offense too shouldn't hurt."
"And I agree with you, beside I think its about time I test my physical capabilities if I were to travel further down the mid floors"
The female advisor nods unsuspectingly before she pauses processing what he said. Once she realizes her ears twitch alarmingly
," Uhm, Harry-san did I hear you right, you didn't say you're going to the upper-middle floors right?"
"Er- yes? Is it a problem?" Harry answers obliviously and Eina looks like she's about to combust, her brows begins pinchcloser together as she slams her hands on the table between them.
"Harry!" the bespectacled boy flinches in reaction.
Needless to say the teen wizard has little regret ever mentioning his future exploration as he experiences the longest lecture of his short life about the dangers of monster the lower the level of the floors and he was completely and utterly unprepared for the monsters in lower floors.
"You're clothes, no offense Harry, stands no chance against a swing of a high tier goblin, you've only learned how to use magic for less than a month and without falna I can't clearly tell you chances in lower floors!" Harry winces as her volume peak.
You reap what you sow, Harry thought soberly in his mind.
Although, it does makes him curious how much will the half-elf woman react if she is to find out that he has had explored dungeon floor further than the 5th floor alone.
Knowing Eina-san temparement, its probably for the better not to tell her or it won't bode well. For him thst is.
Harry arrived at the guild around early in the morning but leaves the establishment by noon with a weapon in hand as well as Eina's reluctant approval for lower-mid floors exploration if he agrees to her conditions.
One, is to let him buy a sturdier clothing to wear with light armor as well and lastly, Harry is to hire a supporter, or even better, join a party.
A fair request/advice from Eina and it would be stupid of him if he try to ignore her her words. The wizard sees the reason behind of it all so he'll try to fulfill it.
As he walk along the busy street his eyes happen to catch sight of a small botique hanging on its signboard shows a decorated symbols of a clothwear. Then his eyes drags at the front and spot a bold writting plastered behind the window glass.
The writting wrote a promise of sale.
That completely grasp the boy in rags his attention.
"A few clothes shouldn't cost that much right?" he reason out to no one and walks toward the store.
