Is there anything all of you are looking for with this story? Would love to hear :)
Months flew by after the Quicksand incident and trouble had died down in the city. The local heroes had taken to small jobs to occupy their time while Misa and Bakugou hung out in their office killing time.
"Well Mina is officially moving in with Kirishima." Misa sighed, throwing a bundled up paper ball into the trash can. Bakugou smirked and tossed one as well, arching his eyebrow in challenge. "Is everything a competition to you?" She asked him incredulously.
"Yes. Yeah, Kiri told me he asked her the other day. I wonder if it had anything to do with catching us having sex." He laughed as Misa's cheeks blushed. "He didn't tell me to move out but I think it's time for me to move on." Bakugou sighed, rubbing his hands through his hair. He stole a glance at Misa and tossed a paper ball at her to gain her attention.
"What was that for?" She asked him, tossing the ball back.
"Move in with me." He stated, a smirk still on his lips. Misa chuckled and shook her head in response. "Why not?"
"Ask me." She replied, rolling her chair closer to his.
"Like you asked me on a date?" Bakugou challenged, remembering the command.
"Ask me like a gentleman would ask a lady." Misa told him, trying to contain her laughing. Bakugou took on the challenge and pulled Misa's chair closer to him.
"Hmm, a lady huh?" Misa nodded, not daring to break eye contact with the confident man in front of her. "Misa? Love of my life...light of my world...would you...move in with me?" He asked her, biting his lip to stop the laughter.
"The sarcasm was a nice touch...light of your world huh?" Misa asked, seeing Bakugou nod. They were both close to bursting with laughter so Misa relented. "Yes. I'd love to move in with you. As long as we can have sex in every room on every surface."
"Of course." Bakugou agreed, kissing Misa's lips hungrily. "Come over tonight and we can look for some places."
"Shira, Dynamight. There's trouble in the lower city. Apartment fire." Todoroki called over the intercom.
"About time there was some excitement." Bakugou smiled, pulling on his gauntlets.
"You are a sadist." Misa rolled her eyes, situating her own outfit.
The building was ablaze by the time the three heroes made it on scene. "My god. Did everyone make it out?" Misa asked the police officer.
"We're not sure. The firemen rescued everyone stuck on floors one to five, but the roof began to collapse before they could search the last floor." He explained, gathering the saved people.
"I don't like not knowing who is still in there." Misa said to Bakugou and Todoroki. "A water Quirk would be so useful right now. Where's Kaiya?"
"On the outer side of the city. Massive earthquake covered a town." Todoroki answered her, looking up at the large flames.
"Can't you melt your ice, Shoto?" Bakugou asked the Icy Hot hero who glared up at the fire. "Shoto?"
"Sorry, yes. I can but it'll take some time to be of any use here. The most important thing right now is to rescue people."
"I agree. You and I can go inside. We are more tolerant of heat than anyone else because of our Quirks." Misa offered, itching to get to work.
"That sounds insanely dangerous." Bakugou interjected, seeing Misa's eyes turn angry. "I'm saying this as a hero. Not your boyfriend. There has to be a better way to get those people out."
"There are ten people unaccounted for." The fire chief interrupted the heroes, showing the pictures of the missing people. "All on level six." Misa burned the faces in her memory and shared a look with Todoroki.
"I'll create an ice bridge for us to bring everyone down. Bakugou, you'll join us and scout for people outside the building we can't locate from inside." Todoroki explained, activating his ice side as he spoke. "We have to be quick though. The ice will melt the longer it's beside the burning building."
"Let's go. We're wasting time." Bakugou growled, running up the bridge with Misa.
"I can hear screaming inside. Hold on everyone! We're coming!" Misa called out, jumping through the broken window. Inside, she felt the raging heat from the blaze creeping through her fire-proof outfit. "Call out please so we can find you!"
"Anything Shira?" Todoroki's voice sounded over their earpiece. He took on the south side of the building while Misa took over the northside.
"I hear shuffling but I don't hear people." She answered, venturing deeper into the building. "Maybe we're too late." She mumbled before feeling the floor shake. "Oh shit." The tile gave way under her feet as Misa scrambled to the edge of the hole, clawing her way back up to the sixth floor.
"Are you okay?" Bakugou's voice sounded.
"The floor gave way. But yeah, I'm fine." She replied, catching her breath.
"I found four people. They said their co-workers tried to make their way to the stairwell before the fire took over." Todoroki said. "I'll lead these people out and then I'll come find you."
"No, just focus on them. I'll let you know if I need help." Misa argued, trying to locate the stairwell. "I found the door." She said, kicking down the door. "Is there anyone here?" She called out.
"We're here! Down the stairs!" A muffled voice sounded, alerting Misa to his location.
"Thank god." She whispered, carefully going down the stairs to find half of the flooring had given away, blocking the civilians exit. "Shit." She cursed, jumping over the hole. "It's okay everyone...I'm here to help."
"Shira?" A familiar voice sounded over the roaring destruction. Misa's heart froze as she made eye contact at the man that tormented her for years.
"Ayami? What are you doing here?" Misa asked the cowering man.
"Looking for a job! This is the unemployment office." He said loudly before a young girl pushed him away.
"Please help us. Our friend here hit her head pretty hard, and Haro broke his leg when that floor gave out." A scared young woman explained, pointing at her co-workers. Misa's heart dropped at the sight. The unconscious woman did not look good if the amount of blood oozing out of her head was anything to go by and Misa did not know how they were going to escape.
"Ok. Everyone, follow me. The only way out is up. Shoto and Dynamight are waiting to evacuate us." Misa ordered, pulling the unconscious woman to her. The rest of the workers followed her dutifully until they reached the gaping hole in the floor.
"How can we jump that?" A scared older man cried. "That's why we got trapped here."
"I'm going to jump with you in my arms okay? One by one." Misa told him. "Shoto? Ready for evacuation. I found the rest of the missing people."
"Understood. Hurry though, this building is becoming more unstable by the minute."
"Okay, I'll take her first then I'll come back for you all. Stay here." MIsa lunged over the hole with the unconscious woman in tow and saw Todoroki running to the stairwell. "Take her. She's barely alive."
"Hurry Misa." The sound of her given name on her boss's tongue brought a new sense of urgency to the feline hero. "Bakugou, we need help with evac."
"I thought so. I'm here." His voice sounded behind Todoroki.
"Help me." Misa told him, running back to the stairwell. "Everyone left is on the other side of this hole but I can only carry one person at a time over this distance."
"I can clear the hole." Bakugou said, flashing his palms before Misa swiped at him. "What?"
"This place is so unstable a cough could bring this building down. No explosions. Just carry these people when I bring them over." With that order, Misa jumped over the hole and pulled the scared young girl into her arms. "It's okay, Dynamight will take care of you." She said, leaping over the hole.
"I can take two people at a time. Go again." Bakuogu yelled over the strengthening flames. Misa jumped over again and pulled the broken legged man onto her back and lunged over the hole. "Okay. I'll be back."
Misa tried to catch her breath as Bakugou took off to the exit window to safety. "It's getting harder to breathe." She whispered, jumping over to the last remaining people. "Okay, who's next?" Ayami let the younger lady go first as the floor shook again. "I'll be right back." She promised, jumping over the hole again to see Bakugou reach for the young lady. "One more." But as Misa said those words, the ground gave out and Ayami fell to the next floor.
"Are you okay sir!?" Bakugou asked loudly, hoping to hear a semblance of life. "Sir?"
"I'm okay, just stuck. Go on without me! It's what I deserve."
"No." Misa said, jumping down to the debris pile. "Come on, I'm not leaving anyone."
"You're crazy."
"Good thing for the both of us or we'll both die." She mumbled, wrapping the man over her shoulder. "Dynamight! I'm going to throw him up to you okay?"
"Hurry!" The building shook as Bakugou called out.
"I need you both out of here. Now! The bridge is melting." Todoroki's voice roared over their earpiece.
"Reach up. He'll catch you. He always catches you." Misa smiled, crouching down to throw the man up to Bakugou. Through the dust and ash, she could see Bakugou pull the man up to safety.
"Your turn Shira!" Bakugou called out as Misa jumped and clawed her way up the broken flooring.
"Go! I'm coming." She cried out, pulling herself through the debris and smoke. "Go Dynamight!" She growled until she saw her boyfriend reluctantly escape with the civilians. "Okay...my turn." She whispered, feeling her arms strain from pain the closer she got to the exit. Pulling herself up to safety, every bone in her body ached as she ran through the shaking building.
"Shira!" Todoroki yelled again.
"I'm coming now, just go!" She yelled back, jumping through the window to land on the ice bridge to see Todoroki and Bakugou waiting for her. "Let's go!" She said, lighting her claws on fire to coast her way down to the ground.
As soon as their feet landed on the ground, the building crumbled in on itself. The three heroes stood in awe as the cloud of ash and debris coated the surrounding area. "That was too close." Misa whispered, catching her breath. Expecting anger from her two co-workers, she braced herself for a lecture. However, both men surprised her with hugs.
"You did good." Todoroki said, checking her for injuries. "You're okay?"
"Just a bit burned but yes, I'm okay." She winced, showing her burned palms. "That's how close I was to the flames. Even tolerable, it still hurts." Bakugou noticed the burns and took a deep breath to calm himself. He was Dynamight right now; not Bakugou.
"We all did good. Saved everyone." He said, keeping his voice professional.
"Well, almost. That lady with the head injury didn't make it." Todoroki informed him, nodding at the body bag near the paramedic tent.
"Shit. I didn't think she looked good when I saw her." She said sadly, trying to find Ayami in the crowd of people.
"Shira." The voice sounded again. The plump man stood with ash over his face, garnering an oxygen mask on. "Thank you for coming back for me. I did not deserve that."
"Everyone deserves saving. I'm not in the position to decide who lives and dies." Misa shook her head. "I'm a good hero. I just wanted you to accept that and use me as such."
"I can see now that I wasted you. It won't mean anything; but I am sorry for what I put you through. I owe you my life."
"And a lot of money." Bakugou added, causing Misa to stifle a giggle.
"That too. I am sorry Shira."
"I accept your apology. That is all though. I do not forgive you." She said before turning back to her co-workers.
"Somehow that was more badass than the whole rescue." Bakugou whispered, sharing a fist bump with Todoroki.
"The rescue was pretty badass too though. I jumped through literal fire." Misa laughed, wrapping her arms around boy men.
"Do you still want to look for places tonight?" Bakugou asked as the trio made their way back to the office.
"Maybe tomorrow. But I do have one requirement. Can we live on the first floor? Stairwells scare me now." Misa groaned, earning a laugh from the men.
