Chapter 9: Bent right to your wind

Lily stirred in her sleep, bothered by an annoying sound in the background insistently pounding on her head. She turned around in bed, bringing her left arm to cross her head and cover her ears. Distant grunting noises reached her before the shrill hum came to a halt. She turned around again, pleased with the restoration of silence, but after a few minutes it became clear that she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep.

She moved to lay on her back, blinking her eyes sluggishly open, feeling huffy with the nuisance before remembering what day it was.

It was Hogsmeade Saturday.

The first time she would go together with James to the village, in an official, public date.

She jumped to sit in the bed, swirling her head to find the clock, which was the source of the annoying sound, now her most important possession. It was a little past eight. She had agreed to meet James in the Common Room around ten o'clock, right after his Quidditch practice, so they could wander around in Hogsmeade before settling somewhere for lunch. That way they'd have a few hours in the village, coming back to the castle in time for their patrol and the curfew of the students' return to Hogwarts.

She sprung out of her four-poster, putting on the first piece of clothing she found, and rushed to the Great Hall. She saw a couple of friendly faces on the way, waving her hand to them en passant, as she reached the Gryffindor table to steal four croissants, an entire chunk of cheese and a pumpkin juice jug. The Marauders were nowhere to be found, for which Lily was currently grateful. She returned to her dorm to find Elizabeth and Cassandra already awake. Marlene, the recipient of her fourth stolen croissant, was not around.

- Ah, my hero – quipped Cassandra, taking notice of the food Lily balanced in her arms.

Lily set it on the small nightstand close to the door, bringing it to the middle of the room where the girls could reach while they got ready for the day.

Lily needed to find the perfect outfit and she would not settle for anything less. This time no matter what their friends told her about comfort or the goddamned cold weather.

Elizabeth and Cassandra joined her in her pursuit of a pair of trousers that would make her arse look immaculately grabbable and a top that would squeeze her tits just the right amount. After going through Lily's entire wardrobe and half of Cassandra's, they recapitulated and decided to rise to the occasion. They opened Elizabeth's.

Elizabeth was much thinner and taller than Lily, having a tip-top model body. Her clothes were meant for someone slim, delicate, and not exactly for Lily's thick thighs and short height. The girls were out of options, nonetheless, so drastic measures were in order. They eventually ran into something that fit Lily, a dark green top, with long sleeves and a cleavage that looked chic on Elizabeth but almost showed too much on Lily, and a high-waisted black jeans that Elizabeth had purchased in the summer, somewhere in muggle France. They paired it with dark ankle boots.

Elizabeth set to work on Lily's make-up while Cassandra charmed Lily's hair to fall straight and heavy, adding extra volume with a twist of her wand. By the time they were done, it was skirting ten o'clock and Lily looked like a very, very fit version of herself.

Perfect.

Telling her friends she would meet them in the Three Broomsticks later, Lily willed the familiar butterflies in her stomach to calm the fuck down while she made her way to the Common Room. James stood in the middle of the room, with his back to her, chatting lively with Remus and Pettigrew. Licking her lips in anticipation, Lily stepped down the last few feet and closed their distance.

Remus saw her first, indicating with his brows for James to turn around, which he did, immediately locking his eyes on Lily's cleavage. Slowly, he looked up, just for a second, before lingering all the way down again, hands shooting to tug his hair as he inspected every curve she had. Lily smirked, smug.

- See something you like, Potter?

He returned the smirk, making no effort to hide the way his eyes kept dropping to check out her tits.

- I see everything I like.

Lily blushed, pleased, coming to his side. She threw her hands around his neck, giving him a peck instead of the full kiss she wanted.

- You look nice too – she said, eyeing his bright red sweater and dark trousers approvingly. He apparently tried to tame his wild locks, which looked less messy than usual that day. She liked it either way. He looked handsome no matter what he did.

- You look really good together – declared Remus, smiling at them. - The Head Boy and Girl. What a power couple.

- People will lose their shit in Hogsmeade – added Pettigrew. - No one believed James would ever convince Evans to actually go with him.

They all cackled at this, but Lily frowned, untangling herself from James.

- Why not?

- Well, because everyone doubted you'd ever say yes – James replied, redundantly.

- Yeah, I got that. But why would everyone think that, like you say? It's not like I told you no before. And even if I had, I didn't think people actually take that to heart. I mean, I've rejected Akins' asks close to one hundred times, the bloody annoying prat, and there were still rumours flying around that I was going with him.

Lily rolled her eyes with the memory of the Hufflepuff chasing her through the castle for a whole week. She couldn't be grateful enough that blokes had stopped coming after her since she kissed James the Tuesday before in the Great Hall. She looked back at him, mouth opening to mention it, when she noticed the odd looks he exchanged with Pettigrew and Remus.

- What? I did tell you Akins was after me sometime ago.

- Eh, yeah, I know. It's not that.

- What is it then?

James looked strangely uncomfortable. He glanced at Remus again, who just shrugged.

- Ehm, you did say no, Lily.

- What?

He cleared his throat.

- I asked you to Hogsmeade before, remember? And you said no. Very firmly, if I may add.

Lily tilted her head, confused. What was he talking about? He never said anything to her in their last visit to the village. And before that, in sixth year, he never even glanced her way, much less talk to her to ask her out. As a matter of fact, the last time they spoke was during that disastrous day on the lake, after -

Ah, yeah.

Lily sighed, feeling her shoulders drop.

Since her conversation with Black, Lily's brain had been working double shifts to fit in all the new information she got. The events of the end of fifth year, and of the following year, finally made sense to her, just like the strange behaviour of the Marauders and Severus afterwards.

She was still finding it hard to wrap her head around the fact that Black had really done such an unthinkable thing as to send a student to be harmed by one of his best friends, while in his transformed nature. He had been right then when he had said she didn't know him. She had pegged him for many things but never for a cold, heartless boy who didn't care for human lives. Even if it was Severus'. Lily supposed there was a darkness inside him, which he wrangled with and, that day, lost to. Lily knew that darkness was still there, maybe would always be as long as he carried Black as his last name.

Lily was also trying to digest the news that James saved Severus' life. Neither boy had ever given her any clue as to that. Severus still looked at James like he was a cockroach, spreading filth around the castle, while James never even acknowledged the Slytherin. Nor treated him like he owed him something. James could've easily held what happened over Severus' head. He didn't. He kept it to himself, only changing his own attitude.

He stopped bullying Severus in sixth year. He distanced himself from Black and his toxicity. He stood by Remus, at all times.

Lily was so proud of him. Of the man he chose to be that day when his best friend made a bad decision. And again, when his best friend had nowhere to go, choosing to forgive him and give him a home.

Despite the overwhelmingness of the new, shocking information, Lily felt glad to know it all. She didn't know if James had any more secrets - my God, if he had. She wondered how he could even walk around so carefree carrying hidden that many life-changing facts. But even if he had, which she doubted, she now knew the most important ones. The ones that shaped his character more than anything else. His strong, formidable character.

Black had been just as right when he said he wasn't as good as James. No one was. James' magnetic force stemmed from his deeply ingrained goodness, something of which she was sure Black was aware.

After two days of non-stop reflection, Lily felt more at ease with was she had learned. She knew the Marauders more than she ever did before. And more than anyone else, she dared say. What she didn't feel easy about was how Black evidenced shortcomings she didn't even know she had.

Of course she felt embarrassed that she'd been friends with a Death-Eater wannabe for so long. But Black didn't know how much Severus had meant to her, how precious her bond was with the person who told her first she was a witch. With the person who introduced her to the world she belonged to. With the person that helped her become the woman she was today, even if through the opposition to the anthology of his own wrong choices.

But Black also said her friends and her didn't stand up for the right thing. And that she made James feel unworthy. That prickled her painfully, making rounds in her mind every time she had a break from focusing on classes and her responsibilities. His words would come back to her each moment of leisure and yet she still didn't know how to construe them. She needed more time, and it didn't help that she was being reminded that James had asked her out and she had openly rejected him in front of the entire school.

She had always thought he didn't mean it. That it was just another bullshit demonstration of his intolerable need for attention at the time, and a horrible desire to provoke Severus. She convinced herself he didn't fancy her, propelling her to shut him down rather harshly. After that, they spent a year without barely any contact, James not even acknowledging her, which only assured her that he never had feelings for her in the first place.

Lily, I want to date you. Not casually, not like a hook-up. Really date you. Seriously.

Fifty-fifty, James? Don't be a rascal. Everyone knows you always wanted to date Lily, I'd say the chances were ninety-ten.

I've liked you for as long as I can remember.

After the disaster of that day on the lake, James was devastated. He already liked you too much.

James is in love with you.

Lily felt incredibly dumb. Suddenly it became obvious that James had always wanted her. And, thinking back to it, his mates and him never really tried to hide it. At least not lately. She couldn't understand how she had convinced herself that he didn't like her as much as she liked him, during the whole Nuur debacle. How could she be insecure when James was hers before she even wanted to be his?

She looked at him now, with a heavy heart for the pain she had caused him. Naturally, she wouldn't have accepted his invitation that day on the lake, but she could've been nicer about it. And every day after that too.

She stretched her hands forward, clasping James', and bringing him close to her again.

- I'm sorry for that. At the time, I really thought you didn't mean it.

- What?

- I thought you were just putting up a show, I didn't know you fancied me.

His jaw dropped.

- You're joking, Lily.

She moved closer, rubbing her body against him.

- I'm sorry, baby. I was stupid. I'm not anymore, I can't wait to take you to Hogsmeade today.

James' shoulders stiffened instantly, his eyes dropping to her lips as she said the words. She saw want burning behind his irises, making her burn too.

Remus cleared his throat unnecessarily loud.

- I can't tell you how glad I am you two solved that puzzle. But I'd say it's time for you to go along with the day and start acting appropriately in public, as the Head Boy and Girl that you are.

Lily chuckled, stepping away from James, who still stared intensely at her. She bit her lips, trying to get a hold of herself but it was bloody hard when he looked at her like that. If this start was any forecast for the day they had ahead, Lily knew it would be a damn long one.

Lily was only half right.

The start of the day was a good summary of how they would spend their next hours in Hogsmeade, walking a proper distance from each other, hands intertwined as they crossed the cobblestones of the High Street, occasionally stopping to greet friends and acquaintances, entering Tomes and Scrolls, Honeydukes and Zonko's, browsing casually and sporadically buying something. It was a perfectly appropriate conduct from the Head students, just as Remus had urged from them.

All the while, James looked at her like he couldn't wait to devour her. His hazel eyes sparkled behind their frames, getting caught in her cleavage and arse too often to be a coincidence. Lily couldn't complain, she did choose that outfit with that exact purpose. Still, it was throwing her off balance the way he seemed to be on the edge of his self-control, a small budge faintly visible in his trousers the whole time.

He was avoiding touching her, though, she noticed. When they finally entered the Three Broomsticks around lunchtime, he had spent the previous two hours firmly clasping her hand, while her waist laid forgotten. Lily knew James was a waist grabber. That he hadn't even touched that part of her body yet told her that he was holding himself back. As they got inside the shop, he did a quick sweep of the room, looking for empty tables, before he guided Lily forward. He waved to the barkeep, Madame Rosmerta, receiving a friendly greeting back.

- Here, make yourself comfortable. I'll get us a couple of Butterbeers – he beckoned her, taking her to the last table on the left corner, still miraculously vacant despite the busy afternoon. Lily imagined it had something to do with the cramped space where the table and the two tiny chairs were placed. Most patrons were standing in groups, which naturally wouldn't fit there. Couples normally preferred somewhere more quiet, more romantic. Lily was happy they had chosen to go there.

James came back a few minutes later, bringing the drinks and a mini bowl with crisps. He sat next to Lily, so close she could feel his body heat. It sent a shiver through her spine.

- Cheers – he said, clinking his glass against hers while his eyes sparkled madly.

Lily drank her beverage slowly, letting her eyes linger around the establishment, observing the small and large groups of students from different houses, raucous laughter dominating the environment. None of their friends was there. The boys had told them they would be there after lunch, Marlene sticking with them for the day, and Cassandra and Elizabeth were taking their time at Madame Maud's Beauty Parlour. Lily took notice of one particular group of Hufflepuffs to her right before she sighed.

- James, stop looking at me like that.

She didn't turn her head but she didn't need to. She could sense he had his neck craned to look at her, his eyes dwelling on her exposed throat, collarbone, breasts.

- I can't help it – he replied, voice gruff as he twitched even closer. His breath tickled her earlobe, making the hair of her neck bristle.

She closed her eyes briefly, trying to keep calm.

- We are in public. Act appropriately and all that shit Remus said, remember?

James hummed, eyes still running every spot of flesh she had uncovered. She felt, with a start, his left hand climbing her back, reaching her waist for the first time of the day. It lodged there, swiftly finding its way under the hem of her shirt, touching her bare skin, and making her shiver again.

This was not going as it was supposed to. Regardless of how randy she was for him, not having had the chance to give him more than a few pecks since they had sex in the Heads' office, with all the drama that was going on between Elizabeth, Black and Marlene, she still wanted to enjoy their date like it was meant to be. Walking around hand in hand, meeting their friends, shopping in Hogsmeade's lovely stores, having lunch and drinking Butterbeer until it was time to get back.

Well, she supposed they had done all of that but it felt different. Her previous Hogsmeade's dates had gone in a completely distinct direction. The boy was usually trying to impress her, telling her about his prospects and ambitions in life while they roamed the village. She'd spend the whole afternoon estimating if he was worth it and if she wanted to end the date with a kiss. They would sit in a restaurant, feeling the familiar mix of awkwardness and giddiness, trying to get a measure of each other. It was nice and standard.

Nothing in this day resembled that. On their walk past the shops, James and her barely spoke. They appeared to have an implicit agreement of where to go, entering the shops with no further ado, James buying her without a prompt a new inkwell she had mentioned she needed, Lily getting their favourite sweets at Honeydukes without needing to ask. He told her in hush tones about the truth behind the ghost tales of the Shrieking Shack, when they passed nearby, explaining in succinct words how the Headmaster had had it built for Remus' transformation. Lily remembered what Black had told her about the Whomping Willow, making the connection that one probably led to the other. She didn't say anything during the story because she hadn't told James yet what Black and her talked about that night. She hadn't had the chance yet.

They weren't trying to impress each other or to convince the other they were worth it. They were already together. There was no awkwardness or giddiness. Only sexual tension. The entire bloody way. Lily's lower stomach had been tightened for the past two hours, her muscles exhausted of the forcibly restraining of her lust. And James was not making it any easier with his roving hand and predatory gaze.

- James, please – she tried.

It was the wrong thing to say.

His hand taunted in her hip, his breath coming out harder.

- Are you going to beg for me now, Evans? - he whispered dangerously in her ear.

Morgana help her.

Lily needed a distraction urgently. She racked her brain for something to say or to do, anything to get her desire under control. She forced her eyes open to look at the patrons of the Three Broomsticks, immediately finding Nuur's. That was enough to jolt her out of the lustful fog she'd been. She straightened herself out of James' hold, pushing him away with a gentle hand as she reached for the crisps with the other, sticking four in her mouth in one go, and then proceeding to instantly choke on them.

James let out a laugh, giving her healthy slaps on the back. She coughed the crisps out, grabbing her Butterbeer and draining it with one gulp.

- Alright, alright. I'll behave – James said, good-humouredly. - I want you to survive this date.

Lily sent him an annoyed look, finishing her beverage and standing up to get a new one. She fended off his insistence in doing that himself, gifting him a quick kiss on the lips before she crossed the saloon to the bar counter. She flagged Rosmerta, giving on her order, and rummaged through her bag to fish some galleons.

- Hi, Lily.

Lily stifled a sigh. She knew this was coming. She absently wondered if it hadn't been that the reason behind her readiness to disentangle herself from James for a beat.

She turned around, smiling softly at the pretty, kind girl in front of her.

- Hi, Shaffy.

Nuur stepped forward, placing herself next to Lily at the bar. She had her usual sweet smile but her eyes expressed a different emotion today. Curiosity.

- So, you and James?

- Yeah, me and James – Lily replied, busying herself with the coins in her hand, setting them nervously on top of the counter. In all of her musings, she never really reserved enough time to reflect on the Hufflepuff's feelings. Did she still like James? Had she hoped to resume their summer romance?

- That's nice. Just... unexpected.

Lily chuckled.

- Tell me about it. I literally never saw it coming.

Nuur chuckled too. Lily was relieved to see there was no grudge or resentment in her face. But Lily still owed her something. She stretched her hand to squeeze the girl's forearm.

- I had no idea of your, eh, involvement in the summer until we were already together – Lily said, hoping to transmit her honesty through her eyes. - You know I never participate in those events or trips, I had no contact with anyone during the whole time, actually. And when we were back to Hogwarts, nothing seemed different between you two, nobody said anything. So when James and I started seeing each other, a few weeks later, I had no idea.

The brown-eyed girl smiled, nodding her understanding.

- I figured you didn't.

- I only found out last week, honestly. - Lily hesitated, not wanting to get into the details of her breakdown of jealousy. - But I haven't had the chance yet to talk to you, to check if you're alright with the whole, eh, thing.

She immediately understood what Lily was saying. Lily needed to know Nuur didn't have feelings for James and that she wasn't upset that Lily was dating him now.

- I like James – Nuur said, making Lily's heart stop beating for a moment. - He's a great bloke. We had a good time in the summer. But that was it. I mean, – she threw Lily a perky look – I won't lie and pretend I didn't sometimes hope that we would pick it back up. But there's nothing between us. Like you said, since Hogwarts started again there was nothing there. He didn't seem interested. I guess his attention was caught somewhere else.

Lily didn't reply, a bit surprised with her frankness. Nuur laughed.

- I guess I should've known. Everyone knew you've always been James' soft spot. And this year working together as Head students, of course it would only get worse for him. Everyone sees the way he looks at you. The unexpected part was for you to reciprocate the feelings. No one saw it coming.

Lily felt a pang in her heart with yet another reminder that everyone knew how James felt about her except herself, but ignored it for the moment, to give her friend the answer she waited for.

- It was unexpected, indeed. But not so surprising. Like you said, James is a great bloke, I just needed to see it. And working together made it happen.

- So, you've been together for...

- About a month.

Lily wasn't going to count the short week they had spent apart. Much less the two weeks previous to their first official date when James had already made her come before they were even a couple. Better to avoid those small details.

- I'm happy for you, Lily. For both of you. But especially for you. You are an amazing person, you deserve somebody who looks at you like James does, and treats you like he does. - She lifted one beautifully drawn eyebrow. - I've never seen him acting like this. He's not usually that affectionate in public. I guess he was waiting for you to come along.

She winked at Lily and left.

Lily turned around to the counter, grabbing the beverages Rosmerta had placed in front of her without her noticing, and walked back to her table with James. He looked at her expectantly.

- Alright, Evans?

Lily smiled with the familiar words, having missed them since James mostly stopped using his catchphrase since they started dating. It sounded good in his voice.

- Alright, James. Just dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

James waited for her to elaborate, but she didn't. She just took her place next to him, getting close enough to rest her head on his shoulder, happy to be his.

They talked idly for a while, eating the crisps and finishing their beers. Lily was just thinking if she should broach the topic that was swirling inside her head for the past forty-eight hours when James spoke.

- Do you want to tell me what you talked with Sirius that night?

Lily still had her head leaning back on him. She craned her neck to give him a lingering peck on the throat.

- He told me everything.

James lowered his mouth to kiss her temple.

- Everything what?

Lily kissed him higher on the neck.

- About fifth year.

James brought his hands up her back to tug her hair.

- Oh, did he?

Lily looked at him, biting her lower lip.

- He did. It was very enlightening.

One would think that the seriousness of the topic would keep them grounded. One would be wrong.

James stared at her mouth, swallowing tickly when she licked it in anticipation.

- Lily.

- Yes, James?

- I need to be inside of you again.

Morgana really help her.

- Okay.

She barely had time to blink and James was standing up, grabbing her hand and navigating them to the exit of the shop. Lily distractedly noticed faces turning to look at them, which made her think that she should probably be polite and say goodbye to her acquaintances, and then she was out of the Three Broomsticks, head turned to mush with the perspective of being with James again.

He walked fast in the High Street, going past stores, housemates and teammates without much more than a brief nod of acknowledgment. Lily trailed behind him, trying to keep up with his pace. They reached the carriages shortly after, James lifting Lily with one strong arm, perching her on his lap instead of the vacant seat beside him.

- My dorm is empty. The lads are still in the village, they won't get back until late afternoon – he said, and Lily's entire body trembled. He captured her lips, kissing her hard and searingly. Lily could feel his erection was not just faint anymore, it was at full force. She couldn't help lowering her fingers to touch it lightly, making James groan. She really hoped there wasn't anyone on the road they were strolling by. She couldn't tell because her eyes were closed the entire way, too busy tasting James' tongue, but she still hoped nobody was witnessing their demonstration.

The carriage halted not long after. James was out of it in a flash, again dragging Lily behind him. They rushed through the grounds, out of breath as they reached the Entrance Hall. The castle was unusually quiet, but that was to be expected in a Hogsmeade Saturday. Only first and second-years stayed inside that day and they normally didn't cause many problems.

The Common Room was similarly silent, only a couple of young Gryffindors lounging in front of the fireplace, making the most out of it while the seventh-years who mandatorily congregated every day there were not around. Lily thought about making a joke about it to James but he was already ascending the stairs to the boys' dormitory, two steps at a time, and Lily's mind focused on her feet carrying her up.

She had never gone up that staircase. She had never been to the Marauders' dorm.

It looked exactly like hers, except it was completely chaotic and dirty. All beds were unmade, sheets rumpled on the floor or at the foot of the four-posters. There was barely a spot left on the ground that wasn't covered in clothes, shoes or books. The night cabinets were filled with empty bottles and leftover of food. Lily made a face when she tripped on a piece of something she preferred not to know, ready to complain before she was recklessly thrown on James' messy but comfy bed. He towered over her, his torso swung around as he closed the curtains, casting nonverbal spells before tossing his wand away and turning to Lily.

If she thought he looked predatory in Hogsmeade, it was nothing compared to the way he looked when he stared at her laying on his bed. He took his time to look her up and down, like he was trying to memorize the image in front of him. The sparkle of his eyes was back but this time it glowed furiously, without restraints. He inhaled and exhaled deeply, removing his spectacles, and in the next minute he was on top of her.

They had never been in that position before, Lily under him. He covered her body with his, long legs interlacing with hers, one forearm bracing the bed, supporting his weight, while his other hand locked behind her neck to guide her face to him. He kissed her slowly, letting his tongue get acquainted again with her mouth, soft lips tasting her fully. She flung her arms around his waist, grabbing the sweater on his back in an attempt to bring him closer to her.

After what could've been twenty seconds or twenty years, James set his arms on each side of Lily's head, drawing himself back just enough to look at her.

- Let me know if you don't want to go all the way, okay? I know it might still hurt for you.

His eyes always seemed a bit hazed when he didn't have his frames on, and they seemed even more now. But his voice was sweet and Lily wanted nothing more than to go all the way. She couldn't imagine wanting anything less than everything with him.

She propelled herself forward to kiss him again, not wanting to spend any second of their time talking. He kissed her back, giving her lips all his attention before he descended to her throat and clavicle, leaving a trail of wet heat. His mouth kept going until he found her cleavage, licking the exposed curves of her breasts.

- Merlin, this top drove me crazy today. Your tits look so fucking delicious, all squeezed.

Lily grinned, thoroughly pleased that her plan had worked. The outfit had been perfect.

- But I'd say it has done its part. Thank you very much, now off. - He wasted no time to pull at the hem of the shirt, peeling it off Lily with no difficulties, bringing her bra together with it. His mouth instantly closed around a breast, sucking it loudly, tongue rolling around the nipple. He passed on to the other breast, hands already opening the zipper of her jeans, pulling it down. He lifted his head again, focusing on taking her trousers off, also bringing her knickers down with the movement.

Lily could only think how unfair it was that when she had finally taken her time to choose a nice, sexy lingerie James didn't even see it. The matching red lace laid depressively unseen and untouched on the messy floor of the seventh-year Gryffindors. She would huff in indignation if James hadn't chosen that exact moment to spread her legs wide open and position his head right where it belonged, between them.

His tongue found her and Lily screamed.

- Fuck, James, I love your mouth. It's God's gift to the world, I swear to you.

James laughed but didn't stop his work. Whenever he decided to do down on Lily, he was always very serious in getting the job done. Lily was grateful for his determination. As usual, she came on his face in less than five minutes.

He gave her light kisses until her orgasm subsided, coming back up on her body, swiping his chin on his shoulder on the way. Lily pulled him down, wanting to taste herself on his mouth and moaning satisfied when she did. He smiled inside the kiss, letting her tongue clean his.

- How did your god's gift perform this time, love?

- As wonderfully as always – Lily replied, eyes closed in content peace.

James hummed, elated, starting to kiss the rest of her body as he liked to. Her neck, collarbone, bellybutton, hips, inside her thighs. Lily laid comfortably, letting him worship her, enjoying the aftermath of the absolute fulfilling bliss.

Easily enough, Lily recognized when James' attention became more frantic, his kisses harsher and his trousers too tight. She forced herself to open her eyes, raising her head and searching for him. She let his eyes lock with hers before she lowered her hands to his belt, opening it with efficient fingers. He followed her progress, chest raving up and down. After taking off his trousers and pants, she lifted his sweater, anxious to feel his skin against hers.

When they were both at the same state of undress, she sunk back down in his pillow, bringing him together with her, his naked chest crushing her naked breasts delightfully. She felt his erection against her stomach, warm and slick.

- I need you inside me, James – she said, lest he started getting any ideas again about going slow or whatever.

He grunted at her words, dunking his head on the crook of her neck, while his hands grabbed her thighs to open her for him.

- You're the best thing that ever happened to me – he breathed on her ear as he thrusted inside her. Lily yelped, still unused to the pressure of having something so big filling her. James groaned when his cock was fully buried on her, his hips twisting unsteadily.

- Fuck, baby, fuck. You feel so good. Does this hurt? Shit, this feels good. Please, tell me if you're hurting. I can stop, just tell me if -

Lily shut him up with her mouth, nudging him with her hips to move. He obeyed, slipping in and out of her rapidly, thrusts shallow and erratic. He looked stripped from any self-control.

- Fuck – he said over and over. - Shit. Good fucking Godric. Fuck, baby.

He was unravelling as quickly as she did when his mouth was on her. She smirked against his shoulder, proud of herself, even though she was literally not doing anything, just lying there, letting him do his thing. Sometimes being a woman had its perks, she thought amusedly.

She knew when he got close. His rambling got worse and his pace faster. The hands grabbing her thighs were bruising, probably leaving marks behind. Lily stood on her elbows, raising her upper body, lacing her hand behind the nape of his neck to get her lips against his ear.

- I'm on the potion, baby. Come inside me.

She didn't need to say anything else. James growled the loudest so far, hips spasming as he orgasmed. He kept moving, each thrust deeper than the previous. When he was done, he let his body drop, burying Lily under him. She stood there, happy as a clam, being crushed by him.

Soon enough she became uncomfortable. James was very heavy, and her ribs were starting to hurt. She also felt the unpleasant sticky sensation of his cum dripping out of her. She wiggled, trying to get him off of her, which he did lazily, sinking to the side of the bed like a shipwreck. She chuckled at the sight of his undoing, reaching for her jeans and the wand on the back pocket. She cleaned herself quickly, feeling much better. Even though she was protected now, having begun with the contraceptive potion the same day she lost her virginity, she wasn't sure she liked the mess it was when James came inside of her. But, again, maybe she would get used to it as well. This time, it barely hurt when he thrusted into her.

She had enjoyed it. She liked giving James so much pleasure. Which she knew she did, taking from his destroyed state in the aftermath. She laid back down in bed, coming close to him to caress his black hair, now completely wild again.

- You should tell your father his hair potion doesn't endure afternoon sex.

A beat.

Then the sound of James' laughter filled the four-poster. He was probably struggling to make sense of words right now, but that seemed to have helped recovering him because in the next moment he turned around to face Lily, with a big grin.

- It's a good point but I don't think I'm going to be telling him that. I prefer to avoid talking about sex with my parents, you see.

Lily chuckled, resting on the shoulder that just became available to her, hand falling to caress his sweaty chest instead. He lifted his right arm to enlace her waist, his other falling on the pillow on top of his head.

- This was brilliant, Lily.

- It was – she agreed, giving him a peck.

He returned the peck, tenderly, before snorting.

- What?

- It's just that it's not even two o'clock.

- Hm?

- And we're already back to Hogwarts. We can barely call what we had in Hogsmeade a date.

Lily knew that. When the day started, she had imagined it would be a long one, given the fact that they were so randy for each other and yet they had to spend their hours in the village before they needed to act like Head students and coordinate the return of the students. She'd been only half right. It had been indeed very difficult to get a hold of their horniness, but it hadn't been that long. They gave up rather easily.

- You're right. We sucked at that.

James chortled, his chest movement making Lily's head wobble.

- Well, fuck. I have dreamed about this moment for years and now that I finally managed to take you out on a public date, I didn't do anything I had planned to. - He shook his head, almost appearing disappointed with himself. - I told you, I really can't think straight when I'm around you.

Lily smiled, turning her head to look at him.

- That's okay, I can't think straight when I'm around you either. At least we are out of control together.

They kissed slowly, fully spent.

Lily knew she should feel embarrassed of their little display of randiness in the village but she couldn't make herself care. They could always have another date there. Not only school-sanctioned, somewhere next February, but also by themselves, using the many secret passages James knew. They were together now, they had all the time in the world.

- Will you tell me about your chat with Sirius?

Lily sighed.

- Yeah, I guess. Though...

- What?

She moved, putting her knees up in a more comfortable position.

- I haven't digested everything yet. The boy really knows how to overwhelm someone with information.

James stayed quiet, waiting for her to continue. Lily inhaled deeply.

- He told me all about fifth year. What happened between you lads and Severus. How he fucked up and Severus almost died, and would have if it weren't for you. How that cracked your friendship. And how shitty is his relationship with his family. He told me you are his family now.

Lily pursed her lips. This was the part she knew how to construe. It was shocking but easy to grasp – Black had made a terrible mistake and James had fixed it, they fell apart until they found each other again. It explained everything she had always wondered the year before. All their strange behaviour and new-brand attitudes.

The difficult part was what she was still trying to work out.

- He also told me how he never liked me. Because I never stood up for the right thing and I always made you feel unworthy.

James instantly sat up in bed, bringing Lily with him.

- That's not true, Lily. He was talking shit.

Lily shrugged.

- I'm not completely sure, James.

- Well, you should be. That's a load of bullshit if I ever heard it before. - He put a finger under her chin to raise her face and make her look at him. - You never stood up for the right thing? What the fuck. You're literally the Head Girl because you've spent your entire school life fighting bullies. Sirius is just bitter because he was one of them. We were one of them, and you fought all of us indiscriminately. Just because we are better now doesn't mean we weren't the worse back then.

He lifted his hand to nuzzle her straight, thick hair.

- And you never made me feel unworthy. I was unworthy. I was stupid and immature, thinking that being popular and playing pranks were all there was in the world. And it actually scares the shit out of me to wonder if I would still be the same if Sirius hadn't gone too far. I guess that's one of the reasons I needed to relent and let it go. - He shrugged, looking away for the first time. - He might have fucked up badly but I wasn't that far behind in the arsehole scale.

It was Lily's turn to bring his face back to her.

- Yeah, but when it really mattered, you did what was right. And don't you see that this is what makes all the difference? Were you also a prat? Yeah, sure, you were, but when you needed to make a choice, you chose to be the better man. And you have been choosing that every day ever since.

His hazel eyes were so liquid now Lily didn't want anything more than submerge in them. He stared at her deeply, roving her face, taking in her words.

- Thank you for saying that, Lily. You have no idea how much it means to me to hear these words from you. - He kissed her, once, on the lips. - I'm glad he told you everything, though. I'm done keeping secrets from you.

Lily's heart did a somersault. She was done with it too.

- I think you know basically everything now. - He paused, brows furrowing. - Wait.

He stood up, opening the curtains of the four-poster in a swift move, grabbing a pair of shorts that was decorating the floor of the dorm. He put them on before he knelt to reach for a suitcase under his bed. Lily had no idea what he was looking for. She came forward, fishing the sweater he was wearing not long ago. It was long enough to cover her thighs and soft enough to make her feel as comfortable as if she was wearing her pyjamas. She most definitely didn't want to put her tight jeans and top on again.

James resurfaced holding an odd-looking cloak and a piece of old parchment. He hesitated, turning his head around until he located the trousers he wore for Hogsmeade, removing a small mirror from the back pocket. He sat back in bed, closing the curtains again, and placed the three strange objects between them in the sheets.

- This is how the lads and I go everywhere undetected, sneaking out of the castle anytime we want. And, well, carrying out all the shite we did when we were younger.

Lily eyed the objects curiously.

- What are those?

James picked up the square mirror first.

- This is the two-way mirror. Sirius has the other pair. We can communicate with each other wherever we are through them, they are magically connected. That's how we always managed to alert the other one if there was any trouble, or just, you know, chat our way through detention.

Lily chuckled, entertained with the notion of the two lads having a blast in their respective detentions, learning absolutely nothing, because they could pass their time by talking with each other the whole time.

- This is a family heirdom. - He grabbed the cloak next, handing it to Lily. - My dad gave it to me when I started Hogwarts, though I'm not sure that was a very wise move from him. He's had better ideas, I'll confess.

Lily laughed, touching the silky fabric, impressed with how soft and light it felt.

- What does it do, exactly?

James made a face, looking a bit guilty.

- Eh, it kinda is a, eh... Like a, uh, you know, an invisibility cloak.

What?

Lily's jaw dropped.

James had an invisibility cloak. Since he was eleven years old. As a family heirdom.

- It does explain a lot, doesn't it? - James said, grabbing the hair at the back of his head. He was nervous.

- Fuck, James! This is crazy. They are so rare.

- Yeah, I know. I can tell you more later about how the Potters came to own it, if you want.

She smiled. She definitely wanted to hear it. She had always dreaded Pureblood tales but James' stories were fascinating. He was the best kind of Pureblood.

- Alright. How about the parchment?

If James looked guilty before, now it was off the charts. Lily worried he'd pluck out a mop of black hair off.

- Ehm, this one is complicated to explain. And I know you won't approve of it. But, yeah, - he shrugged - I want to tell you either way.

Lily was highly curious now. What could that parchment possibly do to make James look so apprehensive to show her?

He sighed, squaring his shoulders as if gathering courage, and picked up his wand to point at the centre of the object.

- I solemnly swear I am up to no good – James said and Lily snorted.

- James, what the -

She stopped talking when she noticed the parchment wasn't blank anymore but filled with drawings and words. She squinted to read what it said, realizing it looked like -

- It's a map of Hogwarts. It shows every floor, classroom and corridor in the castle. Also the secret passages most people don't know about, that we found during our strolls as Animagi, and the grounds. We used the Homonculous charm to track the people inside, so it also shows everyone in Hogwarts. That's how we know where Filch is at all times.

Lily stared at the old parchment in front of her. It was a damn thorough map if she ever saw one. Her eyes travelled through the name of the students, teachers, even ghosts, to the tiny delineated boxes that represented the rooms of the castle. She saw the Headmaster's office and a spot behind the mirror in the fourth-floor, where they had crossed to sneak out for their first date.

- Ehm, it took a while to create it, of course – James rambled, still nervous. - We finished it in fourth year, using it just to keep track of Filch and the other teachers. We wanted to make sure we could get away with the pranks. But then we began transforming the next year, and it became really handy in the full moons. It helped us a lot with Remus, you know? I mean, we used it for other things too, eh, not always with good intentions, though lately, I mean, you know, we haven't been that bad -

Lily finally looked away from the map and locked her eyes with the uncomfortable boy in front of her. She couldn't even begin to fathom how much work and skill creating such a tool took. And they did it in fourth year. By themselves. Without any help, or telling anyone. Discovering secret passageways of which not even Filch was aware.

Fuck.

Lily tossed the parchment away, throwing the mirror and the cloak out of bed before jumping James. She crashed her lips on his, moving to straddle him as her mouth encapsulated him. She never felt more aroused in her entire life. He was so fucking talented it made her want to climb up the walls.

She kissed him hard, taking hold of his head between her hands. She grinded her centre on his lap, wanting to get him as hot for her as she was for him. It didn't take long.

He reclined back in the bed, making quick way of the shorts he had just put on, while she moved to get herself naked again.

- No, leave it on – James said, stopping her movement of taking out the shirt she wore. - I want you to ride me while wearing my sweater.

She let out a whimper, feeling her body burn with desire.

He raised from the pillow to kiss her, and guided her until she was sitting on him, his cock easily sliding back in.

- Fuck, James – she cried. The position was much better than when he was on top. It angled perfectly inside of her.

She had never ridden anyone before, obviously, therefore she didn't know for sure what she was supposed to do. She let her instincts take over her. She started rocking her body back and forth, relishing in the way her clit rubbed on James, tiny sparks of bliss shooting across her skin, which was only doubled when James brought his own fingers to press harder on her pleasure point. She closed her eyes forcefully, feeling herself lose the battle against the noises she was trying to suppress.

- Merlin, you look so good on top of me – James panted and Lily moaned recklessly.

It felt too good. Lily was quickly losing it.

She felt James' other hand touch her face, holding her chin. She opened her eyes to see him looking ravenous at her, breathing hard as if he was the one doing all the moving. He stared at her lips for a beat, his thumb caressing her lower one before he stuck it inside her mouth. Lily gasped in surprise, widening her eyes.

- Suck it, baby.

She did. She sucked the thumb on her mouth, while his other thumb did miracles on her clitoris. She kept moving her body, riding him the only way it made sense to her. She had no idea if she was doing it right but she had no mind to decipher it now. Her body was on fire and her head was blank.

In a crescendo that suddenly exploded, an orgasm erupted through her body, making her scream in shock, biting hard on James' thumb in the process. She immediately tasted blood on her tongue, from where she had closed her teeth on him. She opened her eyes, still coming, to check if he was alright. She tried to apologize for hurting him but before she had time to say anything, he took both of his hands from where they were on her, moving to cross them on her lower back instead and bringing her abruptly forward to lay flatly on top of him. She braced her arms on the pillow above James' head, while he hooked his face on her neck.

His hands clasped on each side of her arse, where he took a strong hold of her. He began to move her hips up and down, so roughly and fast Lily quivered in reaction. He paid her no mind, clashing her hips violently against his, with a loud slapping sound. Lily tried to reposition herself on top of him, supporting her weight through her forearms, but she couldn't move. He noticed her effort and brought one hand back up, to grab her hair and keep her still, while the lower part of his body completely ravaged her.

Then, without a warning, Lily orgasmed again. Spectacularly. Her entire body bucked, arms losing the fight with gravity and dropping on James' chest, while he kept pounding her hips against him, impossibly increasing the rhythm. Lily tried to control her breathing, feeling out of air, head swirling. James was wrecking her. She absently wondered if she should ask him to slow down and let her rest when her core tightened once more. She yelped, biting James' shoulder but he just maintained the rugged up-and-down movement. She came again ten seconds later, her limbs convulsing uncontrollable. This time she was sure she screamed.

Her entire body was trembling, the four orgasms of the day making her so weak she couldn't even raise her head. Finally, James groaned in her ear and came inside her, filling her with warm cum that she almost didn't notice. The moment he stopped moving her hips, Lily collapsed into unconsciousness.

- Prongs?

Lily budged, a spasm crossing her body unpleasantly. She grunted and turned her head to go back to sleep.

- Ha, I fucking knew it!

The sounds around her were getting louder, annoying her. She focused on the darkness still in reach.

- Merlin, you don't even need to open the curtains to know what they're doing, the whole dorm reeks of sex. Oi, Prongs! You should add a freshening spell to the silencing ones you use, it would be much more effective.

The noise of strident laughter prickled Lily awake.

She lifted her head, detaching it from the sticky chest she laid on. She blinked heavily, trying to make sense of what was happening. Footsteps and guffawing confused her fogged mind.

- Far from me to try to tell you what to do, but don't you two have patrol now?

Patrol.

It all came together in one split second. Lily jumped out of bed, screeching.

- James!

James's head shot up from his horizontal position, eyes comically opening in startlement. He looked like he had been hit by a truck.

- What?

- We slept in! We have patrol now!

Ignoring the mess between her legs, Lily rushed to put on her knickers and tight jeans, struggling to bring the latter up. She almost lost balance several times, legs wobbling like jelly. Looking for her wand, she came onto James' trousers, quickly throwing them at the boy who still sat flabbergasted on the bed, hair a natural disaster, face covered in sleep marks.

- James! - Lily screeched again, making him jolt and finally spring into action. He put on his trousers and searched the floor for his sweater.

- I can't find my shirt – he said, with a confused frown.

Lily also stared at the floor to try and help him. She turned around in place, screening the ground, but couldn't see it. She looked under the bed, finding her own top instead.

Wait.

- Oh – she said, straightening up and looking down on herself. - I forgot I was wearing it.

She took the piece of clothing out, handing it to James, who just looked at her with blank eyes before he fell back in bed, laughing hysterically.

Lily huffed, putting her top on and blasting the curtains open to find Black, Remus and Pettigrew staring at her, mouths gaping at the sight. The next second, they joined James in hysterical laugh.

Lily ignored them, hurriedly making her way out of James' four-poster and through the dorm. She was about to reach the door when Remus stopped giggling long enough to say -

- Lily, wait. You can't go down like this. You look, eh, you don't look like, I mean, uh, just check for yourself.

Lily spun on her heels to the round mirror hanging from the right wall behind her, and gasped at the image staring back at her. She looked like she had just come back from a war zone. Her hair was still voluminous but no longer straight, instead ruffled up like a bird nest. Her make-up had long lost its endurance, staining around her eyes and leaving smudges on her cheeks and lips. And her entire neck had purple marks, though Lily did not remember James doing such a thing to her.

She turned around to James, horrified. His face was still full of mirth but he slipped into his sweater and walked to her, bringing his invisibility cloak with him. His hair was as ruffled as Lily's but he looked less war-torn.

- I look like a harlot – she wailed. He chuckled, giving her a peck before raising his wand and performing a couple of simple beauty charms. Looking back to the mirror, she saw her dark panda eyes were gone, leaving her face washed-up but clean, neck free of bruises, and hair falling down in smooth waves. She returned the peck, as a thank you.

- Come on, let's use the cloak. The rumours will go through the roof if they see you coming down from the boys' dorm.

Grateful for James' quick thinking, now that he finally seemed to be back to his usual wit, Lily got under the silky fabric, lacing her arms around James' waist as they went down the stairs. She heard Black shout something from inside the dormitory but she couldn't catch his meaning. The Common Room was busy with students again, which alarmingly reminded Lily that the Hogsmeade's visit was over and James and her were not there to ensure the students' return to the castle.

- Ah, shit, James. We fucked up – she whispered, as they got close to the portrait hole, feeling the guilt spread through her body.

James waited for them to step outside before he removed the cloak, holding Lily's wrist to bring her close to him.

- It's alright, love. We will fix it – he said, catching her lips and kissing her deeply. She felt herself melt under his touch again.

They rushed down the castle, arriving at the Entrance Hall a little bit before five o'clock. Most students were back from Hogsmeade already, but they decided to wait by the gates anyway, to survey the last ones and guarantee that everyone had returned safely. After there was no more movement in the entryway, they got back inside to start their routine patrol. By the time they were done, Lily's legs were about to give out and her stomach was raging wildly. James didn't fare much better.

They entered the Great Hall, slowly moving towards the Gryffindor table, not even bothering to react to their friends' cackles and wolf whistles. Lily wasn't sitting for three seconds and her mouth was already stuffed with bread.

- Fuck, I'm starving – grunted James, cutting a piece of meat for him and another for Lily. She accepted gladly, searching the table eagerly for fried beans, with no luck.

- Well, if you sex maniacs had persisted and stayed a little while longer in Hogsmeade, you could've had a nice lunch and not be so famished right now – said Marlene, with a teasing sneer.

Lily was so tired she didn't even blush.

James shrugged next to her, grabbing the water jug to fill his glass, finishing it in one single gulp. Black tittered.

- Thirsty, Prongs?

- Fuck off, the lot of you – James barked, filling his mouth with potatoes next. - I don't want to hear any of your shit tonight.

- Why are you in such a bad mood? For what I remember, you seemed rather sated when I found you in our dorm earlier today, reeking of sex.

Now Lily blushed.

- Stop saying that, Sirius – Lily hissed at him. - People can hear you.

- Oh, my dear, that ship has long sailed – he replied, with a grin.

- What does that even mean?

- It means that the entire castle is talking about how our esteemed Head students didn't last half an hour in the Three Broomsticks, looking the whole time ready to jump each other's bones, before they all but ran away back to Hogwarts, where they disappeared for hours.

Lily's mouth gaped.

- Fuck – cursed James, appropriately.

Lily let her head fall against her palms, puffing. Her entire being was razed. The afternoon had been so insane she couldn't even begin to understand how it all happened. She had come four times. In a space of half an hour. One after the other. She could barely walk now. Their patrol had been a nightmare, having to ascend all those staircases to the Astronomy Tower and go back down, in a round, floor after floor. It certainly didn't make things better that, somewhere around the fourth floor, James recovered some of his stamina and took her again against the wall in a hidden alcove. She hadn't come this time, but her legs once more forgot how to work. James seemed to had finally reached his limit, his body sagging with tiredness and his stomach growling loudly.

Now they were learning that everyone noticed their little escapade. Of course they would. The Head Boy and Girl were not discreet.

In the whirling shame spiral, Lily again reflected on how her behaviour this year would have shocked her past self. Fifth and sixth-year Lily would never skive off her responsibilities to be with a boy. She would have never risked being late to a prefect duty just to hook up. Seventh-year Lily didn't even think twice before she followed James to his dorm, where they proceeded to have unbelievable sex.

It had been so fucking good, though. Lily felt like her body was finally doing what it was supposed to do, give her endless pleasure. Her shame spiral took a sharp turn and she started remembering the sound of James' hips pounding against hers, the way he had lifted her and moved her up and down like she weighted nothing, using her in anyway he wanted until he ripped their orgasms out.

Lily sighed. She had already accepted that James had come to wreck her life. It was pointless to be getting back inside the rabbit hole of how she lost control when she was with him. Nothing new under the sun, here.

He made her absurdly happy and that was all that mattered. She would make up for her forgotten responsibilities later.

- Lily, are you alright?

Marlene's voice pulled Lily back to the Gryffindor table. Lily smiled to her, nodding lightly, going back to her plate.

- You look strange - her friend insisted, eyeing Lily suspiciously. Black let out a booming laugh at that.

- That's how a thoroughly satisfied girl looks like, McKinnon.

- Not that you would know how to recognize it, Sirius, since you never managed to accomplish it – snarled James, still in a foul mood. - Now shut the fuck up and stop talking about our sex life.

Lily wasn't used to seeing James be so stern, especially with his friends. Her lower stomach twisted at the sound of his harsh voice, making her randy again.

She needed help.

A/N: This chapter didn't get away from me, it galloped in the opposite direction never to be seen again lol

My plan, since the beginning, was to make this story twelve chapters long, but now I will have to add one to the count because when I got to the end of this, I realized I was only half way through what I needed to write. My options were to make it one huge chapter or divide it in two. I made up my mind when I remembered Taylor's lucky number is 13, so it does make sense that this story has 13 chapters in the end, doesn't it?

So, yeah, this chapter didn't have much to it except smut and fluff, which I'm not complaining, I loved writing it. Now to the second part of it, chapter 10 and all that it'll bring ;)
