No reviews this time, so please give me some, it's the only way this story can get better. Things should be getting out much sooner now.
"Only 3 more sunrises til we get apprenticed!" Lemonkit squealed.
"Yes, we know," sighed Robinkit for the tenth time.
"I can't wait for it to happen." Glowingkit meowed, smiled shyly.
"So, who do you want to be your mentors!" Lemonkit continued. The 8 of them were sitting in the nursery, as Rowankit's cheerful yellow and white sister had brought them there. Lemonkit was determined to make the biggest deal out of every occasion, and this time was no exception. It was nice to have someone cheerful, but sometimes she was a bit annoying. Like right then.
"Well I hope it's Nettlecloud," Sunkit boasted. "Then I would be the deputy's apprentice!"
"Well, well," blustered Maplekit, trying to top Sunkit's claim, "I want to be be Flashstar's apprentice!"
"StarClan," sighed Larkkit. "You know that Flashstar doesn't take apprentices. And stop trying to top each other!" She turned and shared an annoyed look with Rowankit.
Rowankit was thankful for Larkkit's intervention. She had a really bad headache. The little voice in her head kept whispering all of her suspicions, making her furious at it but terrified, and Larkkit was not only able to keep peace within the littermates but also had a way of making everything calmer.
"What about you, Glowingkit?" Lemonkit asked her, leaning in.
"Oh, I don't know," she said uncertainly. "I mean, Fishleap is really cool, and so is Mistystorm and… I don't know who else. But I'm thinking that I'd like to be a medicine cat, maybe."
Lemonkit was aghast. "It's only a few days and you haven't told Bristlefern? You need to go now, or else you might lose the opportunity!"
"Fine fine, I'll tell her later." Glowingkit scrambled around and started licking her messed up fur, as Lemonkit had been trying to push her out the large den. Glowingkit was named well, Rowankit had always thought, because her pelt was a gentle glowing golden. No wonder she feels like a medicine cat, she looks just like the stars that they would communicate with.
"Well I want Flowerpool to mentor me," Robinkit announced, bringing them back to the conversation. Met with blank faces, she stared at her littermates. "Really? You don't know who she is?!"
The rest of them shook their heads, with their russet and brown sister staring in disbelief. Realizing that she had to explain, she took a big breath. "Flowerpool is the prettiest and most perfect warrior in the entire Clan. She's absolutely awesome and passed her apprenticeship test better than any cat to come so far, not that it matters because she was already so great."
"If she's so great, then why doesn't she already have an apprentice," Rowankit meowed snarkily.
"Well, she's a fairly new warrior!" Protested Robinkit.
"That's a lot of praise for such a young cat." Rowankit rolled her eyes. Why was Robinkit so obsessed with being perfect again? It would be so much easier if LightClan could just live being the best warriors they could.
Of course they knew that, the voice sang again. But they'd rather do this, they enjoy laughing at your misery.
Shut up! She told the voice. I'll talk with you later.
"I want a cat like that to be my mate," Maplekit mused.
"Quit it, you mousebrain!" Larkkit snapped (again) as she slapped her brother. "You're way too young to even be thinking about a mate." Leafkit followed the black she-cat and slapped Maplekit too.
"Hey!" he cried out. "What was that about?"
Leafkit smiled obnoxiously. "For fun?"
Maplekit got up and started chasing around Leafkit, and Rowankit sighed. This whole talk of mentors disturbed her. Everyone was begging for the most perfect mentor. Then again, it was a perfect Clan. That was the way that life went.
Rowankit padded up to Roseflower, who was lying lazily in the clearing. Their russet pelts blended in with the light of the sunset. Both hunting patrols were back, and Nettlecloud was just gathering the warriors to do a dusk patrol on the StormClan border.
"Mama?" She asked.
"What, Rowankit," Roseflower responded, as she looked up to see her daughter.
"Just… Do you ever think I'm not good enough?"
"What do you mean?"
"Am I perfect enough?"
Roseflower was baffled. "Of course you are! Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't perfect."
"Really? You do think so?" Hope sparkled in Rowankit's yellow eyes.
"Of course I do," Her mother replied warmly.
Rowankit skipped away, more happy than she had been in a while. It didn't matter what a grumpy old elder said. It didn't matter that her siblings were less grumpy, looked better, or acted more formal than she did. She would always still be perfect.
Thank you all so much for reading! Please, review, and I need warrior name suggestions for Elmpaw, Aspenpaw, and Skypaw. I have a few ideas in mind but I want to hear what you all think! I hope to get my next bit out much sooner!
