Riding atop Fenris as they approached, too enraptured with what they were hearing to notice, neither Sarina nor her Grimm Wolf paid much attention to where they were walking. This was simply an oversight on their part. An oversight in the form of a simple twig, giving away the pair's position, alerting Midoriya and the man he was with of their presence. Now the four unlikely acquaintances were staring blankly at each other and in all honesty, Sarina couldn't think of anything to say to make the situation better so she just said the first thing that came to mind.
"Uhhhh… Hi."
The older man's mouth burst into a torrent of falling blood. Both Midoriya and Sarina screamed at the sight before the blood ceased, going just as quickly as it came. Coughing up a storm, the man made to address Sarina but was beaten to the punch by Izuku.
"All Might!" Midoriya screamed, consequences be damned.
"Ghrr." The man flinched, more blood falling. "You're not supposed to say that." He reprimanded.
Izuku's eyes widened, "Oh, oh no, oh no, oh no no no no no. I just revealed All Might's identity." he began to bumble and rant, "The secret's out, there's no taking it back. He'll have to go into hiding. If people know they'll go after him. He won't be safe ever again, not that he wasn't safe but now people will look for him 24/7. And with his time limit, he won't be able to protect himself all the time. Hero society itself will collapse. With no symbol of peace, the villains will run uncontested."
"Damn it kid, you're only making it worse!" All Might yelled, shutting the teen up.
"Ahh, I'm so, so sorry. I don't know what's come over me." Midoriya bowed rapidly in apology as All Might was trying to get the kid to stop talking before the situation could get any worse, his attention fully on the younger.
Sarina and Fenris both stood there, shocked and confused as to the exact relationship between this green haired boy, the number 1 hero and what on Earth was going on. Both boys in question completely forgot of the girl's presence as they continued their back and forth fit.
A moment more passed before Sarina wearily spoke again, "Uhh, do you two need a minute?" She asked, redirecting the two's attention back onto her.
"I-uhh-how much of that did you actually hear, young lady?" All Might strained with a defeated sigh.
"Everything from 'I deem you worthy of my power.'" Sarina answered truthfully. This seemed to make him deflate even more as the gravity of the situation became clear. Were the situation not so weird, Sarina would take pity on him. A simple sorry was all the reassurance she could give.
Fenris instead snorted, flicking her ears about to try and communicate how they heard them. Which, to her smug satisfaction, was taken notice of.
"This is what I get for doing this in public." All Might berated himself before turning back to Sarina, tone becoming serious and undisputable, "Young lady, what you just heard can not, under any circumstances, be told to anyone else, let alone the public. If they knew this was how I was, like this young man said, it would be the end of our society as we know it."
This gave Sarina some pause. She had made her decision to approach the pair and accepted whatever that entailed but now she was seeing the consequences already. It felt like she was walking into Oz's little shadow war. Luckily for her, that was only an internet show.
"I promise I won't tell another soul." Sarina finally replied, a small smirk growing, "And Fenris here will make sure it doesn't happen again.
"Good. I just hope that this'll- wait a minute." All Might paused as he suddenly remembered why Sarina looked so familiar to him, "Fenris? I'm sorry, but is there perhaps a chance that you were at the villain incident earlier?"
Sarina shrunk in on herself yet again, fearful of the consequences she could face, "Uhh yeah, I was there."
There was a moment's break before a laugh, "HA! Here I am talking about being a true hero and moving to help others without thinking like this young man did and you did the very same thing. As soon as he was off, I saw you leap in as well" All Might laughed. "I met this young man earlier so I was focused on him. Because of this I completely missed you until all was said and done."
"That explains that 'One for All' transfer thing then." Sarina realized before looking to the still muttering Midoriya. "Midoriya, you in there?" She asked as Fenris gave him a lick.
"Huh? Sarina... SARINA! W-What are you doing here?" Izuku stuttered. To Sarina it looked like he didn't even realize it was her at first.
"Going on a walk with Fenris, caught your conversation when she led me here." Sarina explained, gesturing to her Grimm. Both Izuku and All Might sweet dropped over the fact a wolf had been able to uncover their secret.
"Young Sarina is it? You're taking this much better than I expected." All Might now asked skeptically.
"Heh, after learning about my own Quirk, it sort of desensitized me to most weirdness." She explained.
"Your Quirk?" All Might asked.
"Fenris, right?" Izuku guessed.
"Yeah, my Quirk, or more accurately, it's power. It's the same power as something in a pre-Quirk era show. I can summon and control the creatures of Grimm." Sarina continued, flicking a Grimm pool from her hands to the ground, creating a medium sized Boarbatusk.
"Wow. That's even better than I thought." Izuku said, somehow already having a notebook open and writing, the mumbling now starting, "If you can create whatever you want, you could do just about everything. But so far all you've shown is living creatures. Is she limited to that or has she not needed to create anything else yet? If only I could-"
"You're fanboying again." All Might deadpanned, halting Midoriya's spiral.
"Sorry." He apologized.
"Don't be, people have analyzed it for centuries, although not as much in these last few decades." Sarina shrugged, disintegrating the Boarbatusk with a wave of her hand. The other two took notice of the act with wide eyes. "Heh, I can do that too..."
"Well then, as much as I'd like to keep talking," All might clapped his hands and turned to his future successor, "Young Midoriya, you've got training to do. Meet me at Dagoba beach, Saturday morning, 5 AM and we'll get to work."
Midoriya resolutely responded, "Right."
Two days later and Saturday had finally arrived. Given Sarina's extensive knowledge of One for All compared to the common man, she was invited to train as well. After telling her mom and dad she'd be going on her normal, early morning run, the girl quickly deviated from her normal route and headed to the beach on the back of Fenris.
Arriving at the beach fifteen minutes later, Sarina was greeted to the sight of All Might in his full, buffed up state sitting atop a rusty old fridge that was trying to be pulled by Izuku. The strained grunts that were audible even from the entrance to the shoreline told just how far he was pushing himself already.
"Hey, hey, hey. It's pretty comfy up on this fridge, how are you doing down there?" All Might sarcastically asked as Izuku fell to the ground. "People move these everyday you know, and most of them don't even have any super strength."
Izuku groaned as he picked himself up, "Well yeah, but, there's an extra six hundred pounds with you sitting on top of it."
"Nah, I've lost weight so I'm down to five sixty these days, in this form at least." All Might dismissed.
Making their entrance known by leaping down the numerous piles of trash, the girl/Grimm duo landed just in front of Izuku and All Might. "Hey guys."
"Ahh, young Yoru. Good on you for joining us. I just had young Midoriya here building up some much needed muscle mass." He said aloud before appearing beside the girl and whispering in her ear, "He's nowhere near ready for my power yet."
Sarina couldn't help but giggle at that as Izuku wailed in despair at what he heard, "But I thought you said I was worthy!? AHHHH!"
"I'm talking about your weak body." Said All Might to Midoriya's confusion. "My Quirk, One for All, is a whole lot to handle. The combined physical abilities of everyone who's ever used it creates a hurricane of pure force. An unprepared body can't fully inherit it. Your arms and legs would shoot off if you tried to." He explained.
That didn't do any good for Izuku however, "Seriously! Okay..." He blurbed, trying to shake the thought, "So this whole trash thing is really some kind of hardcore gym workout. And you're my trainer?"
"You got it! The both of you actually." All Might replied.
Sarina was about to write it off until she heard the last part. "Heh, wait what?!"
The number one just ignored her outcry for now and continued his scripted speech. "But there's another reason for the both of you too. I did a little online research yesterday." He said walking towards the fridge, "Turns out that this part of the beach used to be beautiful but has been a total mess for the last few years."
"That's right," Midoriya musingly remembered, "Because of the ocean currents, anything that's dropped in the water ends up here. People take advantage of that when they're illegally dumping their trash. Now all the locals avoid this place."
"Yeah, I never came down this far on my runs." Sarina noted with Fenris nodding her head in agreement. "The outskirts do make a nice obstacle course though. But back to what you said before, what?"
"Yes, heroes these days are all about showing off and capturing flashy villains." All Might continued as he clamped down on the fridge, crushing it. "Things were different before Quirks, Young Yoru can probably attest to that if what she said is true, I'm sure. Service is what matters. Back then heroes were those who helped the community, even if it was kinda boring!" He smashed the ground. The force of the final crunch blew away the trash behind him to reveal the rising sun. "You will restore the coastline, young Midoriya, for this entire section of the beach. That is the first step on your path young man towards being a hero."
Both Sarina and Izuku were taken aback by how much work the number one was wanting from the boy. He could only gulp in response, "All this? But… There's so much. That's impossible!"
"Young Midoriya, you want to go to UA, right? You too young Yoru?" All Might asked.
"Well yeah, of course, you went there so it must be the best school around right?" Izuku said.
"Right, but, how did you know?" Sarina also said, puzzled as to how he was able to figure that out and had given up on understanding what he meant earlier.
"No one just jumps into a villain attack without an ounce of a desire to become a hero, young Yoru." All Might explained, "You two are bursting with a heroic drive that I can't help but assist in growing."
"I know it's a long shot, but still." Midoriya resolved, "I'm gonna shoot for the moon, UA."
"Ha, you've got a lot of spirit fanboy." All Might said with a laugh before turning serious, "But, as I mentioned before, heroing isn't easy to do without a Quirk. And even one that hasn't been trained to its full potential isn't much better. It's not fair but that's the reality, and UA is the hardest hero course to get into… So that means…"
"That I have to prepare my body for your Quirk really fast." Izuku said in realization but also determination.
"And I need to train even harder." Sarina slowly matched his determination. Just like the initiation. For Fenris, she showed her teeth in a way of accepting that challenge too.
"UA's exam is in 10 months, that's basically no time at all."
"Not to worry kids, I've got you covered with the help of my handy 'Aim to Pass: American Dream Plan!'. You two follow these to the letter and you'll both be ready just in time." All Might declared while pulling out two stacks of paper from nowhere much to the pair's wonderment and Sarina's realization. "I also detailed every other aspect of your lives while I was at it."
Handing the bundles off to their two users, All Might leaned over to Sarina. "Although there are some blanks that need filling out once I get a better idea of your Quirk, young Yoru." He said with her then leaned over to Midoriya once the teen realized even his sleep was scheduled. "If I'm being honest, this is gonna be super hard." He whispered then addressed the both of them, "Think you're both up to it?"
The two teens looked at each other, each seeing the determination in the others. One to learn to wield a power immemorial, passed down through the generations. And the other to learn to wield another power immemorial, created through fiction and used for great evil. No matter the cost, Sarina Yoru and Izuku Midoriya would become heroes. They both gave each other the confidence to see this through.
"We are." Izuku proclaimed, "I have to work harder than anyone else to get in, so what choice do I have, right?"
"And my Grimm aren't gonna train themselves." Sarina added as All Might nodded in the background.
Soon Midoriya was hauling trash to and fro and Sarina began working with All Might to flesh out her AtP: ADP. First she would help Midoriya with the trash clean up to help build up her own musculature. While her stamina was off the charts for someone her age because of all her runs/races with Fenris, her strength left much to be desired.
For the first month and a half of training, that's what she did. Both of them even had a few competitions against Fenris when she was hooked up to pull an especially large appliance to see just who was stronger. The wolf always won those but did push the teens harder. Like with Midoriya, All Might had scheduled Sarina's entire year. Eating at the right time, sleeping at the right time and studying at the right time. Sarina's mom was skeptical at the change and drive she put into her train but fulfilled her daughter's requests and soon was training 24/7.
Next Sarina began training with a weapon. After explaining to All Might about RWBY and her powers in it. The two of them decided that this Huntsmen training was something desirable and could be incorporated into her plan. A weapon was at the top of that list. Given that her Quirk was the Grimm and she didn't have the magic Salem had, if for some reason her Grimm was completely neutralized, she would be left utterly defenseless.
As such, her training shifted so that she started using whatever she could find in all the trash Izuku was hauling for practice weapons and going through some basic motions with them. This continued to grow her muscles further as she tried anything from what could be a sword to a spear, an axe to dagger and anything in between. An unforeseen result in this was improved hand-eye coordination that would definitely come in handy if she was to use a weapon in the future.
Once she found what felt natural to her, a scythe like object ironically enough, she began sparing against her Grimm. The irony wasn't lost on Sarina either given it was a certain red reaper's weapon of choice. But to her, it just felt right. Now she could neither confirm nor deny that she might have foolishly started out by trying to replicate some of said red reaper's special moves that may or may not have led to some not so minor injuries. All Might, should he be needed in this regard, was quick to reprimand and correct her when he wasn't dealing with his own successor. Five months after that, Sarina was proficient enough that she wouldn't hit herself over the head whenever she swung the metal pole she used around and was even able to take down some of her weaker Grimm who were allowed to fight her with lethal force.
Now it was the fall, three months before the entrance exam and where they were now, Midoriya was carrying a safe on his shoulders while jogging, All Might was on a Segway and Sarina was racing Fenris around the park the other two were going through.
When the Grimm and the girl were about to pass the One for All pair again, Midoriya suddenly collapsed to the ground. While still a ways away, Sarina sped up when she noticed that Izuku fell in a very unnatural way.
"Midoriya!" She called in concern.
That got All Might's attention who turned to see his successor with a face full of dirt. "Hey hey kid, look alive now!" He commanded, "You've only got three months left. What, are you gonna give up after all this work? Wanna flush it all down the toilet and take it easy?"
It was then that Izuku tried to move but was unable to do so. It was also this point when Sarina and Fenris caught up and slid to his side. For All Might, he could see just how much stress his successor was under.
"You're overworked." He realized. "The Aim to Pass: American Dream Plan was created with your body in mind. It was fine tuned to ensure your progress was swift but manageable." He continued, a worrying deduction rising, "Which means you haven't been sticking to it. You're overdoing things, that's gonna have the opposite effect of what we want!"
"I… I have to work harder or I won't stand a chance against the other applicants." Izuku struggled, painfully lifting his head off the ground, "Sarina's far better still! I don't just want into UA, I want to excel. I want… To be like you!" He cried out, forcing an unrelenting determination into his voice, "I want to be the greatest Hero in the world, so I'll keep on trying, until I've got what it takes to do that!"
Both Sarina and All Might stood in silence. Midoriya's drive to be a hero was something praiseworthy, it actually inspired Sarina to work even harder than before. She was surprised by what he said about her but she couldn't let that go unreciprocated.
"Izuku, I have more raw power but you are far more than me. Even at a disadvantage, you're trying harder than anyone else to succeed. But you can't do that if you've beaten yourself into the ground." Sarina said as Fenris got under the green haired teen and tried to bring him back to his feet.
"That fighting spirit's what I like about you fanboy, It serves you well." All Might praised as he buffed up, his understanding coming through in his voice, "I do get your concerns, but young Yoru's right, now's not the time to go and rush progress." He said, lifting up and placing the exhausted boy onto Fenris' back. "Fear not! I can get you back on track. Leave it to this old man to adjust your plan!"
"You're not an old man, All Might..." While things were looking up now, Izuku still had a way to get a laugh out of them.
As she knew it, this will be the day. The day where she'd finally start her journey to becoming a hero. The remaining few months had passed by in a flash and it was now the day that she'd been preparing for for her entire life and training for for nearly a whole year. The UA entrance exams.
"Oh you've grown up so fast, where did all the years go?" Eisig asked as she nearly suffocated Sarina in a hug that was so tight in ways only a mother could.
"Mom… Can't… Breath." The girl was able to squeak out.
"But I'm so proud of you." Her mom squeezed tighter before releasing her, "You'll be going to UA! How can I not be proud?!"
"I still have to pass the exams, you know." Sarina noted.
"I know, but I also know you'll do great." Eisig said with a caring, motherly smile.
"She's right," Her dad finally said, "You've been training for an entire year, don't sell yourself short but know that we believe in you."
"Thanks dad, thanks mom." Sarina thanked before noticing the time. "Well I've got to go."
"Are you sure you don't want us to drive you?" Eisig asked.
"I'm okay. I'll have Fenris with me." Responded Sarina. A grimm pool in her hand.
"Okay… You've got everything you need?"
"Yep. Pen, pencil, notebook, scythe, eraser, water bottle, track clo-"
"Sarina… why do you have your scythe?" Eisig asked with suspicion. "I'm pretty sure that's not allowed."
"Actually it is. My trainer found some obscure rule for the exams that says any non-combative Quirk users are allowed to bring a non-lethal weapon if so desired. He got in contact with the school's help desk and got me all the necessary forms." Sarina explained. "They approved it despite my Grimm so who knows why they did it."
A sigh came from her mom and a slight chuckle from her dad. "This is what you get for showing her RWBY." He teased.
"Don't remind me, it's brought nothing but trouble." Eisig likewise joked at the expense of her daughter who just stuck her tongue out making the two parents laugh. "But if I didn't know any better, that would seem like something Ozpin would do."
"I thought so too… Well, see you in a few hours." Sarina said, about to open the door.
She was however caught by her mom, "One last hug." The matriarch whispered in her ear.
Separating a moment later, the three said their goodbyes and went their separate ways. Out the door, Sarina tossed the pool in her hand to the ground and summoned Fenris from wherever she waited. It was a mystery to the girl where her Grimm came from. In RWBY, they were Darkness' creations so they had a divine explanation. All the while she knew nothing of the sort. The grimm, if she wished, retained their memories when killed and created again which brought many headaches and mutter sprees from Izuku whenever he tried to reason it out. Now however, Sarina mounted her companion's back and raced off towards her future, UA high.
As the Sarina/Fenris duo was walking through the city, more and more teens began migrating with the pair. Most were either weirded out seeing a ginormous black wolf of one and a half meters tall, covered in bone plated armor, piercing red eyes and carrying a girl their age on its back. Or they just ignored the absurdity of it all entirely, themselves more concerned with the coming exams than an eccentric girl and her pet.
Soon the two saw the glass kingdom on a hill, UA's main campus. The place where all twenty thousand hero course applicants would come to try their hand at being noticed and accepted into the prestigious school.
"Well Fenris, this is it." Sarina said, the nervousness in her voice now clear.
While the two felt nervous, they marched on. Approaching the main gates, Sarina noticed a familiar head of green hair ahead of her. Motioning to Fenris, the pair quickly caught up with him.
"Midoriya!" She called, "Good to see you."
Turning back, said teen quickly realized who called out to him. "Sarina, Fenris." He said as the girl dismounted and the wolf trotted up to Izuku who in turn gave her some pettings. "Good to see you too."
"So you got you-know-what?" She asked.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Just this morning but I don't feel anything great happening to me yet." He answered in a low mumble that was just barely audible.
Just before the two could catch up, a familiar voice that sounded just as disinterested in them as they were in it. "Stupid Deku, damn wolf girl. Get out of my way now, before I set the two of you on fire."
"Bakugo./Kachaan!" They said at the same time, Sarina in a low growl, mirrored by Fenris and scarred surprise from Midoriya.
"OH HEY GOOD MORNING! UH LET'S ALL DO OUR BEST OUT THERE, OKAY GOOD LUCK!" Midoiya rapidly said through his hysterics.
Even as Izuku rambled, the three let the explosive Pomeranian pass without any headache inducing rants. Sarina continually held back the urge to sicc Fenris on him while said Grimm wolf fiercely growled as he went.
A sigh came from the girl who looked with disappointment at Izuku once Bakugo was out of sight. "I still don't see how you two were friends." Sarina rhetorically said, shaking her head to rid herself of the encounter. "We should probably be going now." She motioned as she and Fenris started their walk.
Following the pair absentmindedly, Izuku's inner monologue turned out to be his Achilles heel as somehow he managed the near impossible task of tripping himself not two steps in. His fall however was halted when he expected to hit the ground. Hearing someone next to him gave Izuku panic. A panic Sarina took note of. For her, when she looked back she saw Midoriya in the air with a girl off to the side.
"Are you okay?" The girl asked with a small giggle. She brought Izuku back to the ground and began explaining, "I stopped you with my Quirk, I'm sorry I didn't ask first. But I figured you wouldn't mind me catching you." She said as Sarina finally returned.
"You probably shouldn't have said that. Midoriya here overanalyzes any Quirks he sees…" Sarina commented, coming back to the pair with a quick glance to Izuku, noticing his current state of being. That of a stuttering mess of incoherent words. "Assuming he can actually learn of your Quirk."
"Oh, you two know each other." The girl asked.
"Yeah, we're going to the same middle school." Sarina responded. "I'm Sarina by the way."
"I'm Uraraka. Isn't this all like, way nerve wracking?" The girl said, getting a nod from Sarina and a continued, incoherent flow of words and sounds from Midoriya, "Well, guess I'll see you two inside. Bye." She then quickly and nervously left.
With that, Uraraka made her way inside, leaving both Izuku and Sarina outside. As the blonde turned to Midoriya to talk to him, she could see he was unresponsive. It took a snap in front of him to get him out of whatever funk he was in. Although she wished she hadn't as Izuku began laughing hysterically, worrying her and those around.
"Uhhh Midoriya… we need to go." Sarina worryingly said.
Seemingly back to himself, Izuku looked at the girl, "Huh?" Then his watch, "AHH!" and back to Sarnia, "We need to go!" And with that he dashed inside.
Sarina chuckled at her friend's personality. Leave it to Midoriya to be consistently concerned about missing something while unknowingly missing it. "Well Fenris. See you in a bit." Sarina said, letting her Grimm wolf turn to dust in the wind. She began following after the boy at a more normal pace, looking up to the hero academia.
About fifteen minutes later, in one of the academy's many auditoriums, this group of potential students sat waiting in the dark for their exam orientation to begin. Sarina found herself sitting next to Midoriya who in turn was sitting next to Bakugo. Looking around, similar uniforms were grouped together in the lines of students. As the feeling of boredom began to roll in, the lights at the front of the stage turned back everyone's attention.
Standing at the podium, a man with spiky yellow hair with a leather outfit and shaded glasses. He spoke with pure extraversion as he addressed the teens before him. "What's up UA candidates. Thanks for tuning in to me, your school DJ. COME ON AND LET ME HEAR YA!" The man exclaimed to try and gain some hype from the kids.
The kids however weren't so keen on such a blatant declaration of the excitement the man was looking for.
The man rolled with it well when no one spoke up, "Keeping it mellow, huh. That's fine, I'll skip straight to the main show. Let's talk about how this practical exam's gonna go down, okay. ARE YOU READY!"
Once again, silence. Well, almost silence as Midoriya's fanboy mutterings kicked in again.
"Oh my goodness, it's the voice hero, Present Mic. So cool!" Midoriya squeaked in awe "I listen to his radio show every day of the week! It's so crazy nuts that all the UA teachers are pro heroes!"
"Would you shut up." Bakugo demanded to which he ignored the glare he was getting from Sarina.
"Like your application said, today you rocking boys and girls will be out there conducting ten minute mock battles in super hip urban settings!" Present Mic continued as the screen behind him began showing helpful visuals. "Gird your loins my friends. After I drop the mic here, you'll head to your specified battle centers. Sounds good?... OKAY!"
Silence again. Although in this bout, Bakugo made quite the discovery for the three Aldera students. "I see, they're splitting us up so we can't work with any of our friends."
Taking a moment, both Izuku and Sarina noticed it as well along with any others that overheard it. Midoriya even commenting, "Yeah, you're right. All our examinee numbers are one after the other but we're assigned to different battle centers."
For the three of them, Bakugo, Midoriya and Sarina, each had their own exam ticket. They were numbered 2233, 2234 and 2235 respectively and were to go to battle centers A through C.
"Get your eyes off my card." Bakugo barked as Izuku flinched away. "Damn, I was really looking forward to crushing you." He grumbled.
"You'll do great, Midoriya." Sarina encouraged with a pat on his back.
Back on track, Present Mic continued his presentation. "Okay okay, let's check out your targets. There are three types of faux villains in every battle center." He explained as corresponding visuals appeared on screen. "You'll earn points based on their level of difficulty so better choose wisely. Your goal in this trial is to use your Quirk to raise your score by shredding these faux villains like a mid song GUITAR SOLO! But check it, make sure you're keeping things heroic. Attacking other examinees is a UA no-no, ya dig?"
Present Mic's chilled attitude was soon cut off by one of the other examinees standing for a question. "Excuse me sir, but I have a question."
"HIT ME!"
A light shone down on the blue haired boy that was standing with his arm raised. "On the print out, you've listed four types of villains, not three. With all respect, if this is an error on official UA materials, it is shameful." He berated, "We are exemplary students, we expect the best from Japan's most notable school. A mistake such as this won't do!" He elaborated before turning back to the Aldera trio. "Additionally, you with the unkempt hair. You have been muttering this entire time. Stop that. If you can't bother to take this seriously, leave. You're distracting the rest of us."
Izuku could only apologize shamefully, Bakugo snickered and Sarina. Sarina was furious. She knew just how worried Midoriya could get when under stressful situations and his mumbling was his way of coping. Right as she was about to stand and give the blue haired boy a piece of her mind, Present Mic stepped in as mediator.
"Alright, alright. Examinee number 7111. Thanks for calling in with your request." Mic placated, "The fourth villain type is worth zero points. That guy's just an obstacle we'll be throwing in your way. There's one in every battle center. Think of it as a hurdle you should try to avoid. It's not that it can't be beaten but there's… kinda no point." Now he was back to addressing the entire auditorium in full. "I recommend my listeners try to ignore it and focus on the ones topping the charts!"
"Thank you very much." The boy bowed in gratitude. "Please continue."
Some discussion began to sprout up on the nature of the exam and how it was like a video game. To Sarina, she could liken it to the Emerald Forest initiation. Get in, get your objective, run and live. An idea she could get behind.
"That's all I got for you today. I'll sign off with a little present, a sample of our school motto. As general Napoleon Bonaparte once laid down, a true hero is one who overcomes life's misfortunes." Present Mic quoted, "Mhmm, now that's a tasty sound bite. Ya ready to go beyond… Let's hear a PLUS ULTRA! Good luck! Hope you practiced hitting more than just books."
And with that, Present Mic left the stage. The full auditorium lights came back on and students began exiting the building. Saying goodbyes and good luck, Sarina boarded her bus to battle center C. Once the bus was packed, it was a ten minute drive to where her exam was taking place. When she got there, she could see the walled city that spanned over a mile in length, maybe more. Now changed into the appropriate athletic wear with everyone else and her blunt scythe folded in on her back, she was ready for whatever would come her way.
And that's another one in the books. Today's chapter was mostly a 'following the anime' type chapter. There'll be more of these as things progress but still with some original plot points scattered throughout to keep things interesting. So here we see the consequence of choice and Sarina's training with All Might and Izuku. I hope I gave a good enough description of the training as this again mostly followed the anime. I also hope the inclusion of a scythe wasn't too groan inducing. There were hints of consequences so I feel that gave me some wiggle room. Also it will be good for visualizations further down the road. i.e. the next chapter. I won't spoil to much but as you can guess, it's the entrance exam. Now I must ask, what happens when what looked like dozen of kids, if not hundred more, go into a live battle situation with the kind of firepower that would peak the US military's interest and the only visible failsafe against death is an old lady coming around after all the action is done an dusted? At least one's once beloved had the decency to say they could and will die. Now though, it's just a matter of finding out what these consequences are. Until next time.
