His eyes burned like a fire. Passion building over time into something no one else could have imagined. Well, yes, and no. Dragon's passion was like a small cottage in the woods. Peaceful and quiet. But something happened that changed that, the sweet innocent beliefs he had started to burn. The cottage set fire and it kept burning and burning. And the thing about fires in the woods is that they can keep burning and burning. And only the rain can try to even stop the spread.
That is what Dragon's passion is like, thought Wyvern. He'd seen it grow worse and worse. Dragon is the type to see the fire and try to put it out. So far he hasn't yet seen it. He is still stuck on the island wasting away as the cottage fire keeps on burning even so brightly. Wyvern's already started his dream of a family he can protect, but Dragon still stays and waits. In all honesty it completely pisses Wyvern off.
Sometimes when Dragon goes out on a trip to Goa and he's left home alone he'll go up to the beginnings of what will be the Dadan bandits of mt. Colubo, get drunk, and yell about it with equally drunk bandits. They never really cared about him being a kid as long as he was safe and he brought the booze.
"AND THEN I WAS JUST LIKE, 'JUST FUCKING LEAVE ALREADY, I *hic* AIN'T A KID DAMMIT!"
"YEEEAAAHH! YOU TELL EM KID!"
"HEY MORE JUICE FOR THE KID-"
"I AIN'T A KID!"
"TO HIM NOT BEING A KID!"
"AYE!"
Good times. But yeah, he loves his brother don't get him wrong, but he needs to just fucking leave already. He always comes up with excuses like, you're too young to be left alone, you can't even feed yourself without eating the food before it's made, which are very valid but Wyvern is very close to knocking him out with haki and leaving him in the middle of the east blue.
So what did he do? Well he went to his only grown up "friends" and asked for help.
Dadan was chugging the bottle of sake Wyvern brought, "so you want your wild ass brother to finally fly the nest."
See wild ass was an understatement really. His brother may seem cool and collected but my good he's about as insane as any other member of the Monkey family. He just has a better control over it. One time when he broke after a group of pirates came and made a mess leading to Wyvern getting a couple cuts. A few days later when Dragon found out he left for the next couple of days and came back with the whole pirate ship and crew. The pirates all now live in town and are very hard working. Apparently they 'had a change of hearts'. Whenever someone talks about sandwiches by the man for some reason they flinch and cover their butts. Weird.
Anyway, "yeah, it's real annoying when I know the only reason he's still here is to protect me."
One of the bandits choked on their booze, "protect you, kid you are probably more dangerous to this island than the island is to you."
Wyvern threw his hands up, "that's what I was saying! But then he said he's protecting me from myself." Wyvern started pouting. It's at moments like this that the kid just seems like that, a kid. When the Dadan family first met the kid he saved them from a giant bear. The kid had this cool and commanding presence, like a king looking at their subjects. She would have bet her life's fortune that she really did see another figure behind the boy when he turned to ask them if they were okay.
"Yeah that would make sense, you'd probably come down with food poisoning after the second day."
"I ain't that bad."
"Sure you ain't, and I'm the king of the world."
"Really?!"
"NO!"
"Oh."
"Huff, whatever so you have any ideas for getting your brother to leave."
Wyvern came here to plan and bounce ideas with Dadan, he had already come up with something he was sure would work but he wanted to ask for help on the finer details. It was a great plan. A wonderful plan. A wide Cheshire smile full of predatory danger grew on his face.
Fuck. Was the last thing Dadan thought at the sight before the most genius thing she ever heard spilled from his mouth. Which was then soon replaced with, hell yeah.
Truly illiterate.
Only one week later Dragon was on the sea far from home and starting on his dream.
Scars are things that stay for the rest of your life. They never leave and when you least expect it they remind you of the ways they came to be. What was once X'd out pink skin, scrapes that didn't get the help they needed leaving a fresh littering of scars on the body, and a crescent lined scar covering the underside of his eyelid, proof of strong will and fearlessness, was now just pearly white discolorations of the skin. Set forever without anyone but himself knowing what they meant.
Wyvern stared at the marking on his chest. Fingers brushing across the skin. Pressing into the skin tracing the edges over and over again. Chest rising and falling with the air circulating. Memories of a brother long lost.
Memories of his crew finally seeing the scar and the sadness and grief they felt looking at it. Because of the one time they weren't there for their captain. Wyvern sighed as he got up from his bed. Toes curling into the shaggy sun carpet on the floor. Floorboards creaked under his weight. His brother, Dragon, had left a couple of days ago and the memories of his past before now came back in full force.
To make sure that he would be safe, Dragon didn't tell him anything about where he was going.
It was really funny to see Garp's reaction to the fact that Dragon was gone. No one talked about the proud look that crossed his face when he found out though.
Wyvern walked down the streets of Foosha coming up to the party bar where Makino was staying.
'Well,' Wyvern thought, yes he can think, 'I guess all I can do is have fun while waiting.'
Yes! Finally got to the part where Dragon left the nest. There will be some bigger time skips but will still have little moments from growing up here and there. Sorry for the wait. And see you next time.
