Merry was sitting happily on his head up top Ace's hat that adorned his head. Makino was playing in the garden behind him while he was working on picking the tangerines off the tree in front of him. He had left the island a couple years ago and picked up some of the trees from a newly growing orchid on Nami's home island. That adventure unfortunately ended in Wyvern getting kicked out of every restaurant in the area. Wyvern was acting calm but he was anything but that.
A few weeks before now Wyvern received a very flamboyant letter from his father about his friend, even though he tries to deny it, was being executed. Garp wasn't happy but understood the boundaries that his choices in life presented him with. A pirate was a pirate. Wyvern was simply waiting for one of the villagers to come and pick Makino up then he was going straight to log town and having a very nice talk with the pirate king before his time.
Wyvern had wanted on multiple occasions to leave the island and go meet said pirate but pulled back to let the man be free for the rest of his days. "WYVERN!" Finally, standing up he wiped the sweat that was forming on his forehead and turned to Maya. She was going to be watching over Makino while he was gone.
Chuckling Wyvern called back, "hey Maya! Thanks again for taking care of Makino for me."
Unknown to Wyvern he was the number one bachelor for the younger girls in town. At 16 Wyvern was taller and darker skinned than he was before. A nice tan and bright brown eyes. He had filled out more than had been as well without the downside of his devil fruit enabling him to become more toned and defined. And of course the bad habit he got from being out at sea he always wore his shirt open and always wore shorts to match. Dark brown hair tied back into a small ponytail and Ace's bright orange sitting on his head. All these added up along with being nice and very out there most of the younger girls in the village had fallen for him. And so he had become a favorite watching pastime for the girls. Along with Makino but she only liked watching him be completely oblivious to his surroundings and consistently turning the girls down without even knowing.
"It's no problem." Maya walked over to Makino patting her on the head, "you go have fun now."
"Thanks!"
Quickly running inside and grabbing his bag and Merry with him, he ran past them, "Have fun!" Making his way to the docks and grabbing a boat. Time for some fun.

He took it. What, you may be asking, did he take. Well that was simple, he and his new found friend, brother in arms, and past inspiration Shanks, have just stolen Gol D. Roger's corpse from the Marines to give a proper burial. Now how did we get here? Great question actually. It started three days earlier.
—
Wyvern bloody loved the sea, but because of certain happenings he never really got to leave his little rock from the middle of nowhere. So he was taking every piece of this trip apart, down to every drop of water that splashed into the boat from the waves lapping at the side of the boat.
It was so freeing, feeling the air go through his hair, hat sat around his neck blowing a little back and forth, merry sitting on his shoulder holding on for dear life. Chuckled gently as he tilted his head back down and picked up the soft rabbit. "Almost there."

Log Town was as shitty as he remembered. Just a lot more busy. People were everywhere, stall lines were filled with people getting food and talking animatedly about what was to come for the late pirate king. You would have never thought that today was the day of one's execution. Something that Wyvern noticed though was the lingering people in the darkness of the shadows created by the sweltering sun. Wary looks of defeat and sadness. Some of Rogers' crew.
Making his way through the crowds of people, Wyvern put his hat on to block the overbearing sun and walked into the Marine base located on the island. Walking in he noticed how bust everyone was. People talking loudly over others. Trying to get as much paper stacked as possible to try to get filed in the rooms down the longer hallways.
People running around and speaking into snails, citizens lined up trying to get a word in with the Marines. If Wyvern didn't know better he would've thought that this was the inside of a pirate ship with how crazy and busy everyone was.
With that thought Wyvern locked onto his father's presence further back into the building. Walking around like he knew where he was going and pretending to be a Marine was awful 0/10 would not try again. Though he did find it funny how easy it was for him to walk in. Shoulders back and head up, and no one noticed the strange orange hat and rabbit guy they had never seen before.
Easily making his way to his Sengoku's office he kicked the door down and walked in, arms out ready for a hug, "DAD!" A bright ass grin made itself home on his face.
"VERNIE! BWAHAHAHA!"
—
He and Sengoku were talking about how the protection for the walk down the streets would be handled when Wyvern burst through the door startling both Garp and Senny. "VERNIE!" He easily picked his favorite son up and spun him around. "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU'D BE HERE!"
Wyvern laughed, both ignoring the other people in the room, "I came to kill some time."
"WONDERFUL HOW BOUT I GIVE YAH A TOUR!"
"NO!" Both Monkeys turned to Sengoku who was clearly angry at want was happening. "We have work that needs to be done, Garp save the tour for later!"
Garp retreated with a frown marring his face, grumbling under his breath, "So you must be the great Senny I have heard so smooch about!"
An irritated look showed up on the man's face. "Yes. of course, and you must be the enigmatic Vernie I have heard so much about." Holding his hand out to shake.
Taking his hand, Wyvern and Sengoku shook hands before Garp moved right in between them, "Why can't I show him around!"
Sengoku equally yelled back, "WE'VE GOT WORK TO DO!"
While the two bickered like old men Wyvern called out while leaving, "see yah later Dad!"
Quickly calling back Garp responded, "Yah! Love yah kid!" And returned to his fight with the other man, neither really acknowledging Wyvern's departure.

It was almost too easy. Finding the cell in which the Pirate King was held in. Briskly walking around and avoiding the Marines scattered around and the recording snails alike he stood in front of the door leading to the cells. Quickly grabbing a lantern and going in.
Darkness swallowed Wyvern from all sides, only retreating a little due to the lantern that he was holding. No light came through into the cell room, all windows either covered up or filled in. The sounds of his front steps echoed throughout the room. Matching in tune to the little song being whistled in one of the farther cells.
His feet scraped at the ground in front of the cell signifying his stop. The weary and sick man looked up. His eyes were dull but full of life deep in the depths of the irises, he spoke, "come to gawk at the caged animal?"
Wyvern smirked meeting the man's eyes, laughing, "we both know you'd be far more interesting in the light of day and out causing chaos."
Roger laughed, he threw his head back and laughed as hard as his weakened body could, the chains adorning his wrists clicked with the melody of his laugh. Once again meeting each other's eyes Roger spoke again, "oh? And to whom do I owe the pleasure for this wonderful little talk?"
Wyvern plunked himself down, "Monkey D. Wyvern, Garps' second son. And second of the free. Nice to meet you Gol sir."
Roger's eyes barred into him, the larger than life man who gave him a dream, a place to start was sitting right in front of Wyvern, they could touch if they wanted. "Ohh? A Marine are yah?"
"Hell no this is the first time I have ever gone into a Marine base of my own choice."
Roger smiled his cheshire smile, reaching his eyes. "Do you mind if I ask what you are here for, boy?"
"I am here to tell you some things that are very important, sir, Ace will be fine-"
Roger's energy broke down onto Wyvern like a boulder on a snake, "who told you that-"
"I already knew, no one told me," the pressure released, if only a little. "I will swear on my life, your son will never be put into harm's way as long as I am alive." A fire blazed in his eyes," and lastly sir, I'll make sure to give you a proper burial."
"And how will you manage that?"
"I'll just steal your dead body from the Marines of course."
They both laughed, the sounds jumping around the closed room.
Wyvern only stopped because of the feeling of Marines closing in on the doors. Standing Wyvern leaned forward, "you were right by the way, it was a hell of a lot of fun."
Roger subconsciously knew what the other meant but didn't comprehend the feeling he was getting in his gut of the words spoken to him. He had forgotten something, what was it?
The younger man walked towards one of the windows that was only just covered, about to break out and leave, but stopped when he heard Roger speak one last time, "why do you hide it, your presence I mean."
"Wyvern punched a hole through the window and its cover, the Marines must've heard the sound because the presences were coming faster, "why would I need to release it if everyone already knows who I am?" A king was left unspoken but resounded in Wyvern's head when he dashed through the window the moment the Marines opened the door slamming it into the other wall.
"WHOS THERE?!"
He was gone.
Roger, though, unknown to Wyvern, when the light from the sun reflected in the others eyes he saw it. His home, his life, his freedom The sea.
