Chapter Three:

"I need to leave the Bed and Breakfast," Hope told Klaus. "If you want me to live with you then I need to pack up and leave the place."

"I'll help," Klaus told her as Rebekah and Elena were in the car and gossiping about how to get back at Stefan for his pretty shoddy phone breakup. "It beats sitting in here with listening to their revenge plans."

"You do not dump someone over the phone," Elena told him with a snarl. "It's not polite. You do it face to face!"

"He's found your bestie Caroline to be his mate," Rebekah said. "How long has he known her and didn't go after her?"

"Since he's started junior year again," Elena said with a sigh. "He met her and showed no interest yet now he's suddenly interested?"

Klaus pushed Hope out of the car and walked with her inside of the bed and breakfast where she led him to her room. He had a look of distaste at the frills and overabundance of the color pink.

"I get my things and you get the cooler," she told him. "I don't have much so it should be easy."

Once they were back in the car with the cooler and Hope's things, Elena was laughing with Rebekah, making Klaus smile.

As soon as Klaus led the three women into his new home (which Hope recognized as the Mikaelson Mansion in Mystic Falls) when Rebekah led Elena upstairs though she did refused, stating she needed to be home.

"I left my little brother home alone," she began to say when Hope crushed that.

"Is Jeremy Gilbert your brother?" At Elena's nod, Hope grinned. "He's not home alone."

"Great," Elena looked at Klaus, "I have my little brother home alone with someone. I need to make sure the house is still standing."

"I'll go with her and bring whoever they are here," Rebekah offered. "I'd like a friend." She winked at Elena who smirked at her. "Besides-she can help me design my room and I can give her tips on how to make a man fall to their knees."

"Caroline's tip was to wear something very revealing," Elena said with a shrug. "I'm unsure if I want to go that route."

"That's only for boys," Rebekah reminded her as the two walked out of the house. "To get a man to his knees, show your confidence and flaunt it."

The second they were out Hope looked at her father who glowered at the door.

"Dad," she began. "Dad you need to undagger Uncle Elijah." She was reminding him of the deal he had made and Klaus winced.

"We can do it in a few hours-or days," he said, as he wanted to put it off for as long as he could. "It's best to let him be."

"If you won't undagger him I will," she told him. "I didn't come into the past to watch it fall! I came back in time to stop my existence from happening!" Klaus walked over to her and grabbed her arms.

"You can't change the past but you can change the future," he told her. "Your existence will still happen in some way."

"Even though it's my fault you both are without your mates," she cried as she placed her face in her hands as she fell to the ground on her knees. "You both lost the loves of your lives!"

He seemed taken aback as he realized she was talking about him and Elijah. It must have been his brother's wife who he had made godmother of Hope.

"Tell me Hope what your Uncle's wife say if she were to see you like this?" He asked her.

Hope smiled sadly.

"That those who we lost aren't really lost," she was whispering, "but they're in our hearts. Always and forever."

"You think I'm dark," Elena whispered, as the drive to Elena's house was silent. "That I don't care about what I did."

Rebekah wanted to open her mouth and speak but she didn't as Elena continued.

"I'm tired of being sidelined," the brunette closed her eyes and Rebekah noticed the bags under her eyes. "I'm just tired of being sidelined, of having my decisions questioned and mocked, of being treated like I can't do anything except be a damsel in bleeding distress."

"Have you tried speaking up?" Rebekah asked, once she found her voice and Elena snorted.

"I did and Damon broke my arm when I questioned his plan," she murmured. "No one knew what he did because he played it off like I had fallen down the stairs and broke it then." She closed her eyes again as she remembered how the carpet burned her as she scraped against it, how each wooden step felt against her ribs and how she screamed when she landed on her broken arm. "I say what happened and offered to show them the memory but they believe what Damon says and I feel like I'm being suffocated by their overprotective eagerness."

"Would you mind showing me the memory?" The blonde didn't want to barge in and look at all of her memories. "I promise that this would be the only memory I see."

"I trust you in my mind more than my own friends," Elena whispered. "Isn't that sad? I trust you-a vampire I just met-over the people who I've known my entire childhood. I trust you in my memories."

Enzo couldn't help but have Jeremy-his little mate-sit between his legs as the man was running a hand through his hair. He had tasted his little mate's blood, which was divine and made him purr with simple touches along his sides before he began to tickle him.

He had to stop as his little mate began to wheeze and he didn't want that. Once he had his Daylight ring thanks to the girl ("Call me Kaylee!" she said as she ran out of the house) he was finally feeling free.

All he wanted though was to make Damon Salvatore forget about his existence and make him deader than he already was.

Jeremy looked up and while he was blushing he stood up and as he began to walk into the kitchen he yelped as a hand grabbed him around the waist.

"Enzo!" Jeremy gasped. "Don't do that!" He was flushed red from what they had done earlier-the way the man had made him whimper for simple touches and kisses, he had to avert his eyes from the way he looked at him.

"You little mate," Enzo was humming, "are a temptation and I am not letting you leave my line of sight and my arms." His fingers ran up and down his sides before he began to tickle them and he giggled with his head thrown back. "You are mine little mate."

"Well there is a sight," Jeremy managed to look up at his sister who was with a blonde in fashionable clothes that would make Caroline weep with envy. "While you two have your tickle sessions I'll go and pack as we're living with Klaus." Elena had given him a smirk and walked up the stairs while Enzo and Jeremy eyed the blonde who smirked.

"I'm Rebekah," she said sweetly. "Klaus is my big brother and Tyler is dead." She then pretended to have a look of fake shock on her face. "He just ripped out his own heart! It's so horrible." She walked into the living room and sat on the overstuffed armchair while Jeremy patted Enzo's arm.

"I need to pack," he whispered softly. "You can hold me afterwards okay?" Enzo nodded and as he walked upstairs, he saw Elena sitting on her bed and staring at nothing. "Is what Rebekah said true?" Elena moved her gaze to look at him.

"I know what happened three days after the funeral for John," Elena told him softly and Jeremy sat beside her. "I know what happened and what he said." She wrapped an arm around him and hugged him close. "I offered Klaus my services-be his spy-if he undaggers Elijah and kills Tyler." Jeremy stiffened and she ran a hand through his hair. "I can't see you hurt the way he hurt you. I wanted him to suffer." He turned so that his face was in her collarbone and tears fell down his face. "I'd do anything to protect you."

"I know sis," he whispered. "I know and I'm glad that we're leaving this place."

The second the dagger slid from his chest Hope watched as he was slowly being revived. Beside her was the cooler she had found in Whitmore House. She knew that her father was out on the town getting syringes and blood bags and other medical supplies.

She was honoring the deal by undaggering her Uncle Elijah herself and as she sat, she closed her eyes while she began to figure out how much of the future was being changed.

First of all her Aunt Elena was firmly on her father's side (or her Aunt Rebekah and Uncle Elijah's side anyway), Bonnie and Elena's friendship is strained to the point that it could go either way and Stefan is with Caroline years before it should happen.

She's making good changes as well as bad changes-the only bad change she has made wasn't even her fault!

How was she supposed to know that Tyler Lockwood was going to die mere minutes after becoming a hybrid?

He was supposed to be a hybrid until days before she was born!

So lost in her thoughts she didn't hear the gasp and someone grabbing her arm, forcing her eyes to that of her Uncle Elijah's gaze.

"I have blood for you," she said as she pushed the cooler closer to him. "Take a bag and drink it before I tell you what I know."

He nodded and opened the cooler where he grabbed a blood bag that held her Aunt's blood. The second she saw him drink it she saw the color slowly returning to his face though his outfit needed work.

She might not like the scruffy look but her aunt did from time to time and since her aunt was actually coming to live here at the moment…

"Who are you?" She blinked and looked at him, his eyebrows furrowed.

"You might not believe me," she began. "I'm your niece from the future." He blinked and nodded. "Klaus is my dad and I'm here to fix my mistakes."

"Anything else?" He asked her with a curious expression on his face by what she said.

"You're not shocked?" She was puzzled by his stance-slightly relaxed yet tense from being in a box for a long time.

"We live in a world where magic exists," he explained. "Magic, vampires, werewolves and many more supernatural creatures. I believe that nothing shocks me anymore."

She had to give him credit-he was right. What could possibly shock the Old One who cannot possibly be shocked?

She had tried watching horror flicks with him a month before the deaths and he kept trying to add logic to them ('how is a serial killer doll holding that butcher knife? Wouldn't it be too heavy for him?', 'How does this ghost demon girl know how to use a phone if she had been in a well for centuries?').

Her family came up with a new rule-never watch horror films with Uncle Elijah, as he will try to apply logic to the illogical.

"Well I'm trying to find a way to fix my mistakes and make sure that I don't exist," she said as she looked away from his face. "I killed my mother and Aunt-your wife."

"Might I ask how?" He seemed curious and as he sat in front of her, she could see the wheels in his head turning.

"Does it matter?" She replied. "I did it. The witches and the wolves in New Orleans all said that I did it."

"I do not believe that you did it," he said instantly as he pulled her into his arms. "I highly doubt that you caused their deaths."

She wanted to say something-anything really-when the front door slammed opened and she could hear Rebekah shouting for Nik as well as hear Aunt Elena and Uncle Jeremy's human heartbeats.

"No one else knows what I am except for dad-Klaus," she said as she tried to remember her father's name. "Everyone believes that I'm a distant relative so you all are Aunts and Uncles."

He nodded and as he stood up, he helped her up and they left the room.

The anteroom was gorgeous in Jeremy's eyes as Enzo was holding his things as well as his hand. Rebekah had sauntered into it and shouted for Klaus only for Hope to appear with a scruffy and rough looking Elijah who seemed to have just been undaggered.

Jeremy caught his sister's expression as she stared at him, her cheeks flushing red and her eyes sparkling with lust. He knew that his sister had a thing for men with accents and suits.

He just hoped that Elijah really did like his sister otherwise he would have to deal with a broken heart and possibly making Elijah himself wish he had never met them.

Elijah wasn't sure why it was Elena that was making his baser animal-his beast-inside feel a need to claim her when Hope told him that he had a wife in the future who he adored.

Something in his head made him connect Elena to his future wife as he saw Hope embrace the young woman as though she hadn't seen her in years.

"Maybe I can show you all to your room and get myself ready for when Niklaus comes home?" Elijah suggested to the group. "Sister, hello." He added as he smiled at Rebekah who flung herself into his arms and he hugged her back. "It's good to be back."

The second Klaus entered the house later that night when their guests were sleeping; Elijah made his presence known to him.

"Hello Niklaus," Klaus sighed as he rubbed his temples. "My niece undaggered me."

"I was going to wait a few days before doing it and making sure that no one was in the house," he explained. "I-" they stopped when they heard a scream and ran up the stairs to Hope's room.

Both brothers realized that they had to go into her mind to see what has happened to make her want to die.

To erase her entire existence because she believed she was a curse on her family.

The second they entered Hope's mind they noticed that they were in the bayou. They saw her standing behind a clearly vampire Elena and a brunette woman that had to be a hybrid.

"Hope I want you to run," the hybrid told her. "I want you to run as fast as you possibly can."

"Mom I can't leave you alone with that sociopath," Hope denied. "He will kill you and Aunt Elena. I can't leave you both."

"Hope honey you need to run," Elena told her as she ran a hand through her hair. "We will hold him off but he wants you. He wants to use you." She smiled sadly. "Your mom and I can hold him off."

Hope shook her head and Elena kissed her forehead.

"Please Hope run," the hybrid pleaded. "Please."

Hope bit her lip and as she ran, she could feel her leg muscles start to tighten due to the strain of running with a twisted ankle. She had to stop and when she turned she saw Lucien Castle rip into Elena's chest, pulling her heart out.

The sounds of strained screaming came from Hope, Hope's mother and Elijah himself as he saw himself.

"Why?" Klaus could hear his own voice. "Why are you doing this?"

"You took away my love, I take yours away," Lucien said before he ripped out Hope's mother's heart out. "Two hearts and soon enough I'll have hers." Klaus saw Lucien lunge at Hope only for Elijah to block Lucien and Klaus ripped out his heart.

When they slipped from her mind, Elijah was reeling as he watched his wife-Elena-get her heart ripped out.

He turned to Klaus who was looking horrified by the thought of his daughter watching that and he understood why she was feeling the depression and why she was suicidal to this extreme.

Survivor's guilt.

She survived that ordeal only to lose her mother and aunt in such a way that it was heartbreaking.

"I want to kill Lucien," Elijah whispered. "I want him dead."

"Once I find his location I'll send you to him," Klaus promised as he closed his eyes. "I won't harm her." He opened his eyes as he stared at Elijah. "She is safe and family. No one harms our family and gets away with it."

Over the course of three days the Mikaelson Mansion became more homey then what Klaus was expecting as Rebekah and Elena were bonding, Jeremy was embracing his mate Enzo (thankfully the vampire was respectful of Jeremy's mind set as he wasn't ready for all that) and Hope seemed to be doing better then she had been.

She was not trying to find ways of making her existence become totally erased as she was more focused on making sure that those who lived in the mansion had someone or something to occupy their time.

There was one sore note-Homecoming.

Rebekah had a gorgeous strapless red dress that fell to her knees she wanted to wear and she wanted to go with Matt until Bonnie Bennett literally grabbed her dagger and stabbed her in the back.

Elena, appalled by what happened (as she had a blood donation that night) undaggered Rebekah and get into an argument with Bonnie.

However besides that, Klaus had asked a witch and got a location on Lucien Castle as well as Aurora de Martel and Elijah had gone to 'exterminate' some insolent vampires.

"Well Lucien and Aurora won't be a problem and Tristan has been detained," Elijah called with an update. "He's going to find himself trapped at the bottom of the ocean, unable to escape."

"Good and you should be home in time for a dinner party that Damon Salvatore wanted us to have."

Rebekah was grinning as she had Elena's arm in her hand, showing her the finer clothing options that were now available to the brunette.

"Pick anything out," she said smiling and Elena fingered a dark blue suit that reminded her of the casual suit Elijah wore when they were at the Lockwood Estate. She did like it but she looked at it more before deciding to swap the trousers with a skirt and she got four inch heels in the same color.

"Does this look good for a dinner party?" Elena asked her and Rebekah nodded with a grin.

"That will look good on you," Rebekah said as she picked out some ball worthy gowns. One was a strapless red number while the other was a black and gold one. "I think that you will like these for a ball." Rebekah added as she was mentally planning one.

Hopefully Nik will allow her to have that as Homecoming was a major let down in her opinion.
