Chapter Five:
It was hours before the dinner party was going to begin when Elena went into Hope's room, watching as the girl was slipping on her necklace when Elena cleared her throat. Hope's blue eyes flashed to her and Elena felt as though she was not just happy to see her but sad as well.
"I need your help and expertise," Elena began. "The brothers Salvatore are definitely going to have you remove all my compulsions-believing that the Mikaelsons placed me under but the truth is I had any and all compulsions undone during the summer thanks to my friend Caroline's cousin Kaylee." Elena took a breath and exhaled. "I just need you to fake it or give me a bit of a migraine to mimic undoing of the compulsions. I need it to be believable for them."
Hope nodded and a smile reminiscent of Klaus appeared on her face but it didn't worry Elena, as the girl was a descendant of the Mikaelsons' mother.
"I have just the thing," she said as she hugged her. "Don't worry-everything is going to be fine."
Now as Elena was laying on her bed, chest heaving and face flushed, she had a huge thousand-watt smile on. Everything that happened after dinner when Elijah brought her to his room…she couldn't hold it in anymore and squealed into her pillow. She had her shirt undone to reveal the ivory colored lace bra and the suit's jacket was still in Elijah's room.
"So I see the outfit worked," Rebekah drawled and it forced Elena to sit up to look at the blonde. "Sorry Kol lied and blocked you both, ruining the moment."
"There's always another time," Elena managed to get out as she tried to normalize her heart rate. "But yes the outfit worked." Elena's blush intensified. "He couldn't stop touching me, he kept staring at me…I never felt like that even at the beginning of my relationship with Stefan."
Rebekah smiled sadly and as she walked into the room she made her way to the bed and sat down. Her fingers ended up undoing Elena's hairdo and began to do a French braid.
"It's always at the beginning of relationships with vampires that everything will feel extremely intense," Rebekah told her. "At the height of many of my relationships they were very intense to the point that Nik actually caught me in the middle of a pleasurable experience…but I couldn't be with him." Her eyes did look downward. "The man-later on I learned-wanted to use me against Nik himself and it made me a bit…jaded is the word."
Elena sighed, as she felt horrid for her friend. She knew what it was like to be jaded because of a failed relationship and Elena had two failed relationships.
The first was with Matt-sure they were good and according to the school they looked good, but the relationship went stagnate to the point that her breaking point was her parents' death. She wanted to reclaim their friendship.
The second was with Stefan. They were good for each other and she wasn't going to say that they weren't. They really were…until Katherine wormed her way into the town and everything became blurry. The real breaker was when he left with Klaus and broke up with her over the phone, his voice dead.
She did reach behind her and grabbed her friend's hand, showing a small sign of support.
"You will find a love that consumes you," Elena promised. "You will find a love that consumes you and makes you burn for more." Rebekah smiled.
"I hope you find that with my brother," Rebekah admitted. "I've seen him in love, I've seen him in lust but…whenever I see him with you I see him truly happy and in love and seeing him both happy and in love at the same time I enjoy seeing him both-happy and in love."
As the night wound on for those who live in the Mikaelson Mansion it was peaceful but for those who did not live there it was anything but peaceful…especially for Stefan Salvatore who had to bury his brother's corpse.
He had placed it in a coffin.
He did feel a deep sadness as he grabbed the shovel and began to dig up dirt in the wooded area on his property. The sounds of someone walking made him turn and he saw Matt, Caroline and Bonnie who looked at him with some sadness.
"Do you need help?" Caroline asked as she moved to stand next to him, her fingers entwined with his and he nodded. "You and Matt can bury him, Bonnie and I will get the shots ready inside." She kissed his cheek and as she caressed his other cheek fondly, she walked away to go inside with Bonnie.
Once the girls were gone Matt had a shovel and helped him dig up the dirt. He may not have liked Damon but the way he died…well he would have preferred a different method.
"I'm sorry man," Matt told him softly. "I'm so sorry about what happened to your brother." He really was as his sister Vicki died some time ago and he was closer to her then to his own mother.
That was a can of worms he didn't want to touch since he caught his mother and Tyler before Caroline's accident.
Stefan nodded, feeling hollow and empty inside. The dirt kept piling up he jumped into the hole and measured that it was indeed six feet.
"Can you help me lower the coffin?" Matt nodded and both managed to wrangle the coffin into the ground, they placed the dirt beside them on top of the coffin. "Well all we have to do now is honor his death with alcohol."
"Bourbon was is favorite right?" Matt asked and Stefan nodded. "We can have bourbon shots."
Stefan laughed and as they walked into the house Caroline had an entire set up for honoring the dead-shot glasses, bottles of alcohol, limes, salt and cocktail shakers.
"Let's drink to Damon Salvatore," Bonnie said as she took a shot of bourbon. "He lived as he died-recklessly."
Esther stared at the kitchen, wondering what half of the stuff was. The stovetop was strange and the machines lining the kitchen terrified her but she held it in. She moved to stand in front of the large rectangle box and spoke.
"Open," to nothing happening with the magic metal rectangle. "OPEN!" She shouted and still nothing.
"Need help?" She turned to see the human doppelganger-she didn't know what her name was- in something that shouldn't be appropriate. The girl claimed it to be 'exercise clothing' but why was the 'regular' clothing not good enough for this? Or basically anything a little bit more appropriate as the girl's legs and something called a 'sports bra' had a thick strap that was out on display. "Here," the girl went over and opened the door. "Is there something you want?"
"Water," Esther managed to get out as the reddish brown haired girl and her daughter Rebekah were in the same outfit except in different colors-Rebekah was in dark blue, the girl named Hope was in light purple and the doppelganger was in light pink. She saw Elijah in what she was told was appropriate exercise clothing-the same type of exercise clothing Jeremy Gilbert and the other vampire was in. "I just want water."
"Here," her precious son Elijah said as he went over to them and pulled out a glass looking…pitcher?-out for her. "Lovely mind getting the glasses?" 'Lovely' nodded and did grab a glass. "Want me to make breakfast for you?" He asked her while 'Lovely' went to grab a carton of eggs, milk, shredded mozzarella cheese and green onions.
"I make good scrambled eggs," the doppelganger said. "Bex, Hope, Jeremy, Enzo, Elijah you want some?"
"I'll take some," Rebekah, Jeremy and Hope said while her son and the other male vampire shook their heads. "Need help?"
"Could you run the green onions under the water and them chop them up Bex?" Elena asked as she began to grab a large bowl and a whisk.
Klaus was watching from the doorway as the doppelganger-Elena-was including his family in making breakfast, which was really sweet, and the way Hope was acting made his heart thud.
He didn't like the fact that she came in time to kill herself but apparently her mind was slowly changing and she was healing in a healthy way.
His eyes narrowed and then smirked as he decided to buy her a dress for the ball his mother wants done. He brought out his cellphone and began to smile as he was going to buy his daughter a dress.
Klaus' smile became sharper as he planned on doing something completely out of his character. Instead of being a cold-hearted bastard who enjoys killing and creating hybrids…
He was going to show them that he was a good father and an okay man. That he can change and he can be redeemed.
Rebekah, in a light pink tunic and grey leggings paired with dark grey ankle boots walked into the Mystic Grille with Elena in a cold shoulder light blue shirt and jeans with black ankle boots.
Hope was with them in the same outfit as Rebekah but with a light purple tunic, black leggings and black ankle boots. Caroline and Bonnie eyed Elena with the Mikaelsons-the witch with such loathing and the baby vampire with curiosity.
"What are you doing here?" Bonnie asked with a glower and Elena returned the glower with a vengeance.
"Your mom's rule was that none of us were to be harmed," Caroline warned. "So what are you doing here?"
"Not everything is about you two," Rebekah scoffed as she flicked her braided low ponytail over her shoulder as she sauntered over to Matt. "My family's hosting a ball and I'd like it if you could come but not as my date." She smiled widely. "But I'd like your friendship."
Matt smiled and accepted the invitation.
Bonnie looked horrified while Caroline gaped. Elena smiled as she had grabbed a bag of food while Hope did the same thing.
"The ball is a stupid Cinderella fantasy," Bonnie scoffed. "What's going to happen at the ball?"
"Well I'm going," Caroline and Bonnie turned to look at Caroline's cousin Kaylee smirking. "This really cute guy-his name's Kol I believe-invited me." Caroline seemed curious until she saw Rebekah, Elena and the girl-Hope-talking to some young guy who could be eighteen or nineteen.
"That's the guy who invited me," Kaylee told them as she walked over to him. "Hi! I'm Kaylee Forbes." Rebekah smirked.
"See you've met one of my big brothers," Rebekah told her with a grin. "I'm Rebekah and this," she pushed Hope a bit forward, "is a relative of ours named Hope." Hope smiled and waved at her.
Elena smiled and hugged the blonde.
"Hey Kay," Elena said sweetly to her. "Great seeing you again." Kaylee grinned and nodded.
"You as well," Kaylee said as she twirled her fingers through Elena's ponytail. "How did you get your hair that wavy? Mine's flat."
Elijah was sitting at his desk in his office when Klaus strolled in, his nose twitching.
"Have the girls come back yet?" He asked, as the twitching didn't stop. Elijah shook his head. "Then we had an uninvited guest as I can smell a horrid strawberry and warm vanilla perfume."
Elijah groaned.
"Katerina was here," he realized with a groan. "What did she do?"
"The perfume was in Elena's room." The groan Elijah let out became a low growl.
"Find out what was taken and tell me," he ordered and Klaus smirked as he held up a piece of paper. "What was it?"
"A dress and a flat iron," Klaus said as he read it off the paper. "I guess she wants to impersonate Elena." He smirked and looked out the window. "If you see her then get rid of her but make sure you don't ruin the dress."
"I have wanted to kill her quickly but if I can do it slowly then yes brother, I will."
Carol Lockwood was already feeling heartbroken as she was living in a giant manor by herself as her husband, son and brother in law were all killed-her husband was shot, her brother in law was murdered by a vampire and her son was killed by his own hand.
Tears poured down her face until someone knocked on the door. Wiping her face, she walked over to the door and opened it to reveal a young woman with shoulder length dark brown hair and golden brown eyes wearing a white dress and a jean jacket.
"I'm a friend of Tyler's," she said as she looked around. "I'm Hayley Marshall." Carol sighed and more tears fell down her face.
"Tyler's dead," she choked out and Hayley gasped. "He's dead." Hayley went over and hugged her.
"What are you going to do?" Hayley asked. "Are you going to live here on your own?" Carol looked at her and nodded which made Hayley snort.
"I'll stay with you," she said sternly. "I'll live with you and help you out." Carol shook her head but Hayley was adamant. "I don't mind helping you out."
Elena knew something was wrong when she entered her room as it looked ransacked. Everything she had was either ripped or utterly thrown around carelessly. She looked around and felt a mixture of horror and anger in her stomach as a picture of her and Jeremy was thrown into a wall, the glass of the picture frame cracked.
"Who did this?" Elena asked and a clearing of a throat made her turn to see Klaus. "Did you do this?" He shook his head.
"Katerina did and she took a black and gold dress as well as your flat iron," Klaus said as he read her the list in his hand. "Apparently that was it." Elena sighed and looked at her closet.
"Well I asked Rebekah to keep the back up dress in there," Elena admitted. "So Hope, Bex and I are going to get ready in Bex's room." Elena side stepped him and asked, "could you help me repair this or tell me where to get the best replacements?"
"I'll actually repair and replace whatever was in this room," he said as he eyed the mess. "Do you want a replacement flat iron?" She looked thoughtful and shook her head in the negative.
"I never felt comfortable with my hair until now."
Klaus smiled and watched as she walked into Rebekah's room, the human smiling happily.
He had a feeling this room is going to have a new use.
As soon as Bonnie, Kaylee, Caroline and Stefan walked in (Caroline in a blue dress Stefan had ordered for her from a dressmaker in England) looked around at the amount of guests.
Bonnie was in a cream color one shoulder dress that had a mermaid silhouette while Kaylee was in a turquoise strapless dress with an empire waist that tied up in the back.
The three women looked for Elena when they saw her with Elijah in a deep red fit and flare dress that not only tied up in the back like a corset but zipped up as well. Her hair was pulled into an updo style reminiscent of a socialite from 1864 that made Stefan gulp thickly. Caroline looked at him and he whispered, "Katherine had that exact hairstyle during a dance."
Caroline looked around and spotted another Elena in a black and gold dress with her hair in a chignon going over her left side but she didn't look like the other Elena in red as the Daylight bracelet on her wrist gave her away.
"Katherine's here," Caroline noted. "I wonder why." Stefan snorted and pointed to Elijah.
"Go Original or go home," he whispered. "That's her motto." He took her hand and led her away to a small little alcove where he began to kiss her with his hands all over her body, causing her to moan in his mouth.
Elena did leave Elijah's side and as she walked, she bumped into a brunette in white with a deep halter V neck and was form fitting. Elena smiled at her and brought out her hand.
"Elena Gilbert," she introduced. "I haven't seen you around here. Are you new?" The other brunette smiled and nodded.
"Hayley Marshall and yes I'm new," she said. "I live with Carol Lockwood." Elena nodded and smiled sadly.
"Terrible news about her son," Elena agreed and almost tripped but the two caught Caroline and Stefan almost stripping their clothes off. "But now I need to bleach my brain as I don't want to see my ex boyfriend trying to find himself within a friend of mine." The drawl Elena had slowly was becoming something akin to Klaus' as she had been spending time with him.
"Well at least you can do better than him," Hayley told her as they walked away from the scene they accidentally walked in on. "So much better."
"You already made one friend and this place has many more people you can meet," Elena told her. "I'm sure that you'll find more friends."
Katherine seemed to think it was easy for her to sneak in and take a dress and a flat iron from her dull doppelganger but that thought faded as a hand grabbed her throat.
"Ah Katerina you should have used a different body spray," Klaus purred in her ear. "I'm going to enjoy killing you slowly." Those were the last words she heard as her neck snapped.
Klaus did strip Katerina of the dress and had her tied up in the basement. Leaving the basement he bumped into a brunette in white with a deep halter V neck and was form fitting. He smirked and kissed her hand.
"Klaus Mikaelson," he said with a grin.
"Hayley Marshall," she said with a smirk.
Elena felt nervous as she stood in front of Esther who held a needle in her hand, fingering it longingly.
"I would like your help in killing my children," Esther said. "Haven't the vampires taken enough from you?"
"I'm not helping you with killing your children and all vampires," Elena said hotly. "They haven't taken that much from me!" She was about to get up and leave but her body felt frozen as well as her arm moving of its own accord.
"I want your blood so I'll take it by force," Esther told her coldly and the tip of the needle moved down her wrist, on the vein to get the blood. "Thank you for the help in destroying the vampire race." She muttered something and Elena felt herself being thrown out of the room, her body colliding with Elijah.
He steadied her and looked at her, Klaus appearing behind him with Caroline who wanted to talk to Elena.
"Your mother wants to kill you and your siblings," Elena whispered to Elijah. "I didn't want to help her but she forcefully took my blood." Elijah looked at her vein and as he licked her blood he gave her blood from his wrist after he fixed his shirtsleeve and bit into his. She did lick the wound and both watched as her wrist-on the vein-began to heal.
"I'll take care of mother," Klaus told Elijah as the older brother turned to look at him. "I'll bring Miss Forbes with me." He added. "She and Mister Salvatore were about to desecrate my hallway."
Hope in her deep purple strapless empire style dress was dancing with a human who was there on vacation named Sam Smith before she was twirled into a vampire's arms. His name was Anthony Jensen and he was just passing by. The three of them seemed to be getting along great.
Sam had dark blonde hair and brown eyes, which was a contrast to Anthony's black hair and pale blue eyes.
She felt something in her spark but she wasn't sure what it was and it didn't freak her out.
Enzo had Jeremy in his room, tickling the boy who was laughing to the point that he began to wheeze. Enzo stopped and pulled him into his arms, his fingers running through the boy's hair and going down his back.
His little mate's heart rate began to race and as Enzo sniffed his neck, he growled and nipped it, causing him to gasp.
"Mine," Enzo purred and nibbled on his throat. "All mine." Jeremy whimpered and Enzo turned him around, placing kisses along his throat and neck before Jeremy took the initiative and kissed him.
That kiss sparked something in them and Enzo decided that he wasn't allowing anyone to harm his little mate after pulling away and biting him.
Klaus walked into his mother's office and as she looked up at him, she had her head cocked to the side.
"You want to kill all vampires," he mused and pushed Caroline in front of her. "What has she done to you hmmm?"
"She's a vampire," Esther replied coldly. "That is what she did." Klaus sighed and as he walked over to her, he ripped out his mother's heart in front of Caroline. "Go back to your boyfriend and do not mention this," he ordered Caroline who flashed away in horror.
Klaus sighed and as he dropped the heart, he left the body in the room and closed the door. Turning, he bumped into Hayley again and he sighed.
"Care for a drink?" He asked and she raised an eyebrow.
"What do you have?" She asked as she noticed his hand. "Bloody martinis?" He looked and sighed.
"Sorry I don't," he chuckled. "I do have some bourbon."
Rebekah and an old friend of hers Aiden Monroe were laughing when she laid her head on his shoulder.
The brunet male with blue eyes looked down at her-the girl he had been in love with for over seven hundred years-and decided to do something bold. He lifted her head and kissed her, tasting cherries and cotton candy.
Pulling away, she whispered, "Aiden…" he smiled and laid his forehead on hers.
"Seven hundred years you have owned my heart," he whispered in a thick French accent. "I'm yours."
She smiled and if she were human her cheeks would be burning.
"And you've owned mine," she admitted.
Kol was laughing and as he kissed the back of the blonde girl's hand, he grinned at her raised eyebrow.
"Why are you trying to worm your way into my bed Mr. Mikaelson?" Kaylee asked him with a flutter of her eyelashes.
"Trying to worm my way into your phone and then earn your friendship," Kol said with a charming smirk. "After that…maybe."
She daintily plucked his phone from his pocket and added her cellphone into his.
"I can't wait for a text or a call from a new friend," she said with a grin. "Text me later," she added as she walked away and he stared at her.
Klaus had Hayley underneath him, her dress on the ground and mixed with his tuxedo. Their kisses were heated and as he bit her, she screamed his name with her head thrown back.
Elijah couldn't take it and he led Elena up to his room, where he pinned her between the wall and his body, his lips over her throat. She moved her head so he could have access to her neck.
"I want to know," she whimpered. "Are we together in a relationship or is this going to be a one time thing?" If it was a one time thing she could see about getting compelled to forget her feelings for him.
He stopped kissing her neck and looked into her eyes. He could see the fear and the sadness swirling within the brown doe eyes.
"I want this with you," he told her as he stepped back. "I want a real relationship with you. I want everyone to know that we're together." Each word he said he heard her heart beat quicker and faster. "I love you, always and forever."
She kissed him, her fingers going through his hair and when she pulled away she placed a kiss on his chin.
"I love you too, always and forever," she breathed. "I want everything with you. There's no one else." He smiled and as he grabbed her thighs, he lifted her up and wrapped her legs around his waist.
"You are mine," he told her and kissed her, his fingers undoing her dress as hers undid his shirt. "I'm never letting you go."
"You're mine and I'm never letting you go either," she repeated and as her dress was on the floor with his shirt, she kissed his chest. "Always and forever."
