Chapter 4- Day as an Avenger

Avengers compound

Morning

It was a bright sunny morning, Barry had spent two days in the Avengers compound and surprisingly has learned jack about his new teammates. The only people he really got a slim chance to speak with, was Wanda and Steve. The rest were just to busy or just didn't trust him. Which is reasonable for Barry since he barely trusts them either.

All the Avengers (Except Thor, who had left back to Asgard) have fully moved into the compound, and luckily they had spare rooms so they lend one to Barry, who's room is next to Wanda's and Rhodey's.

Barry had gotten out of bed, brushed his teeth and heads over to the living/kitchen area, wearing a teal shirt and some gray joggers. He uses his speed to make himself a sandwich then taking a seat at the counter with Sam and begins to talk with him companied by Wanda who was making herself some eggs.

"So wait, you're telling me that the two original killers were not Billy and Stu but Sydney and Randy? Barry asks, stunned by this earth's changes and Sam nods as he lift the spoon full of lucky charms and lodges it into his mouth.

"That's right, Sydney was so traumatized when Ronan sent Sydney the tape of Morine Prescott screwing Billy's dad, that she killed Billy's dad and framed Morine Prescott for the murder and got her arrested. Then she went on to kill Billy's classmates including best friends just to get him scared," Sam explains as he takes a sip from his OJ with Wanda just shaking due to the fact she's not too much of a fan in horror movies.

Barry noticed and says, "Wanda, If I'm making you feel uncomfortable I can stop talking about it," Wanda turns and shakes her head.

"Barry it's fine, you're just having a normal conversation. Don't let my uncomfortableness stop you from trying to make friends. Go on. In a way I'm actually kinda curious myself If I'm being honest. I've only seen Scream once a long time ago and forgot a lot about it, so hearing this brings back forgettable memories," Wanda gently says causing Barry to nod his head before turning his attention to Sam, who was eating his cereal.

"So what about Randy?" Barry asks as Wanda grabs some OJ from the counter and pours herself a cup and setting it down on the counter.

"Well Randy joined Sydney cause of his love for her, but also cause he was a fan of the horror flics and wanted to try it out himself," Sam dryly says and Barry just lightly shakes his head in disbelief.

"Wow that's insane. That's not even close to how it turned out to be on my earth...but wow that's dark," Barry notes as he takes a bite from his ham and cheese sandwich.

After a few moments, Wanda turns off the stove and places her plate of food on the counter and sits between Barry and Sam, who were enjoying their breakfast. Moments later, Rhodey come walking in with him rubbing his eyes.

"Ugh...morning Avengers," Rhodey greeted as he yawns, looking like he was in a bar all day due to his tone when he starts to talk.

"Morning...James? You feeling okay?" Sam curiously asks and Barry takes another bite of his Sandwich while Wanda is eating her eggs with toast.

"I'm going to be honest, Tony and I kinda had a rough night," Rhodey embarrassingly says and Barry just shakes his head.

"And by that, you mean you got wasted with Tony didn't you?" Sam asks and Barry softly laughs.

"Fuck off! I didn't I was just..." he trails off, not knowing what to say and Sam smirks as he shakes his head.

"What, spending a night at Tony's tower, drowning in bourbon with Stark tap dancing around the place wearing nothing but a bikini?" Sam says with a smirk and Barry begins to laugh a little more, choking on his orange juice with Wanda covering her mouth with her hand, trying so hard not to laugh.

"Nah I'd be spending time with yo girl and she be asking for when I'm gonna come over next time," Rhodey replies in a snarky tone.

"I don't have a girl," Sam simply says.

"I know. Just wanted to remind you," Rhodey says with a grin, acting like he had just won the Olympics.

"But you know what I don't have," Sam begins and Rhodey raises an eyebrow. "A big ass forehead," Sam finished. At this point, Barry was laughing so hard that tears were starting to roll down his face while Wanda couldn't even eat her breakfast without smiling, trying so hard not to laugh.

"Now sit your candy ass down before I grab a marker and draw a football field on your big head ass," Sam threatened, getting up from his seat and Rhodey looking stunned as he touches his head.

Moments later, Natasha comes walking in to the kitchen. "Morning team did y'all sleep well?" She questioned as she looks at every member in the room.

Silence took over as Barry, Sam and Wanda all look at Rhodey with raised eyebrows before he glances at them.

"Man the disrespect is real around here," Rhodey claimed with Natasha who was smirking.

"Oh that reminds me. Allen, Steve wants to see you in the gym. Like now!" Natasha demanded and Barry looks annoyed as he looks up and rolls his eyes from his sandwich.

"Now?" Barry asks and Natasha nodded. "Great, wonder what this could be about," Barry sarcastically says with a exasperated sigh before getting up and walking out.

Through a few hallways and rooms, Barry finally made his way through a couple of doors and entered the gym, where he finds Steve, who was punching a bag with boxing gloves. As Barry walks closer, Steve hears him coming in before glancing at him and pointed to a big floor mat with a huge A logo emblazoned on.

Steve lets out a few heavy breathing as he says, "Get on the mat," he demanded and Barry stares at him for a second, confused.

"Uh why? If I may ask," Barry slowly contended moreover Steve grins and looks right at him. "Just get on the mat, Kid," Steve says calmly but firmly.

Barry walks to the mat with Steve tightening the straps on his gloves before walking to the mat as well. "I've noticed a few things from your two days here. One, you're a tad humble,"(Barry smiles. "Aww" he says mockingly), and Steve playfully shakes his head. "Two, you rely to much on your speed. Have you ever lost your speed before?" He asks and Barry nods.

"Like countless time," He says sheepishly while he shrugged, and sucked through his teeth in shame.

"Well there you go. You rely on your powers too much. What happens if someone was able to steal your speed? You will be defenseless and will have no way to out think a problem. So," Steve pauses and gets in a fighting stance in front of Barry. "Fighting me will break that chain and maybe, hopefully, you can be badass without your powers," Steve confidently says.

Barry has the uneasy feeling that this will end up the same way his training session with Oliver did. With him in agony and the two massive arrow marks that impaled him. It was a long week after that day.

"Wait you want me to fight you?" Barry nervously asks.

"No speed. Just your fists and legs, trust me this is gonna help. Who knows you might thank me one day," Steve says and Barry makes a face as he looks at Steve, one thought going through his head.

Looks like I'm gonna get two arrows to the back again

5 hours later

Barry groans in agony as he is thrown onto the decorated floor mat for the- well he lost count but it was many times, just getting thrown, getting kicked, punched even, and getting tackled. Although Barry defeats every opponent he's come across, he finally realizes how hard it is to do it without his speed.

His speed is almost like an addiction. He never stops using it, never goes a day without it. Steve can see that after the long 5 hours of kicking Barry's ass. During the training, Steve noticed Barry getting more and more annoyed to the point that Steve saw a glimpse of Barry's hand phasing for a split second. He hasn't made no progress, this will take a while for Barry to get used to not relying to much on his gifts or curse.

Barry's winces. "That's enough for the day, Cap" He says with a forced tone, struggling to get up.

"Agreed. But you should focus more and learn how to control your anger. I saw that little gimmick you pulled when you were on the ground," Barry looks at him in a surprised manner as Steve continues. "The hand. You were gonna attack me, right? Look, Barry I know what it's like to feel so powerless. I was a skinny 16 year old in Brooklyn who get would get his butt kicked in an alley by two goons. So believe it or not, it won't be easy to detach from your speed," Steve wisely says and Barry nod slowly, understanding him.

Steve holds out his hand and pulls Barry up to his feet. "Get some rest, kid. We'll try again tomorrow," Steve says before walking out of the training room, leaving Barry mused by what Steve had said.

With a long sigh, Barry takes off his gloves and tosses it to the ground. He begins to walk out but was stopped when he sees Wanda lingering in the doorway.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" he says running out of breath.

"I came to see how you were doing, clearly it didn't go that well," she said with a light chuckle.

"Yeah, I guess I really do need to learn how to 'detach from my powers' Barry conceded with his hands both on his hip and Wanda nods her head.

"It might take days maybe weeks but don't worry, you'll get there," Wanda supportingly says and Barry grins.

"And how do you know that?" Barry asks, eyeing Wanda.

"Just a feeling," Wanda simply says with a smile and Barry returns a smile back.

And I'll end it off there.

Sorry for making this one short but I wanted to show a day of Barry with the Avengers, just getting a funny moment or somethin. But this one was really regarding Barry getting trained cause even tho he is almost superior, if he gets them powers taken away, he's just a regular CSI guy with feelings for his sister (Iris) Lmaooo.

I wanted to 'add a cherry on top' and what better way to then with a moment between Barry and Wanda. It's a hint to a budding friendship in the future or something more. Anywho, hope y'all enjoyed this short chapter and don't worry there is more to come.

Make sure to leave reviews please.

Till next time.
