And I'm back for another one. I'm actually surprised by my last one. I think I did a great job. Let's just hope I keep my same energy.
So this one is about the second day at Barry at Oscorp before I do a time jump to a week later where he's gotten more comfortable with Norman and Oscorp-but keep in mind, Barry is here on a mission, not for fun. Nope. No fun at all. Just professional.
Alright I'm so eager to do this. So enjoy!
But first...
Velocity Vasto: Hey man or girl-don't mean to assume. Nice to see you again, hope your well and having a great year. Thanks for the review and I hope you will keep reading.
r3ggc4lderon: I was thinking about having her play Felicia and I feel bad that they didn't live up to her potential, but unfortunately I'm gonna have to use Sydney Sweeney to play as Ms. Black Cat her self. She is just so talented and played a great role in Euphoria.
9024multiverse: Thanks for the suggestions; I decided to with Sydney Sweeney. Hope you keep reading.
Now...
Chapter 10- Progressing Slowly
Previously on the Flash (Scarlet Johansson 's voice)
"Uh, I've been having...nightmares." He hesitantly says, not sure if he should have said that since it makes it sound so childish.
"Alright there are some things we need to discuss before you head out, you ready?" Steve says and Barry nods his head with crossed arms.
"Uh you were raised in Minneapolis by your mother; Martha Smythe, father: Henry Smythe left you when you were 11, later your mother decided to move you to New York, where you went to Midtown high, went to ESU, graduated in engineering, chemistry, have a master degree in physics, and you live in Greenwich. Got all that?" Steve listed before asking Barry, making sure he got what he's saying at the end.
Barry reaches for the car door, opening it and stepping out and placing his foot on the floor plan of Oscorp. Barry just takes a second, gathering his courage to walk in. Around him everyone are in white lab coats with their name tags attached on the shirt. Even their lab coats looked expensive. How was Barry gonna fit in?
The buisness man holds out his hand as he says in greeting, "Norman Osborn."
"Sebastian Smythe. Pleasure to meet you." Barry says jovially as he shakes his hand. The man had a firm grip that intrigued Barry a bit.
"You definitely are intelligent Mr. Smythe. Tell me about yourself. What do you like to do fun? Do you have a girlfriend?" Norman asks and Barry looks to the side, thinking.
"Well...I don't really know. Things between me and her are a bit...complicated." Barry says
"Love does do that to you. Ask my wife, she'll tell you. Meeting her was so unexpected. We would sometimes have problems, argument and one day I thought we were over, but...then my son came along." Norman says.
This is a big company and I don't allow laziness for any reason. You have to work really hard. Intelligence is not a privilege, it's a gift. You use it to save the good of mankind," Norman pauses again then says, "Do you want to try it in here?" He asks with a grin. Barry looks stunned for a second.
"Yes sir! Absolutely!" Barry says gratefully and Norman smiles.
"Well then..." Norman gets up and walks towards Barry. Barry gets up and is greeted with a handshake from Norman Osborn. "Sebastian Smythe, Welcome to Oscorp."
Black screen!
Avengers compound (Barry's room)
Morning
The sun is starting to set in. After a hard day at 'work', settling in his office, the first thing Barry Allen did when he got home was go to his room and sleep, not even saying good night to his friends or brushing his teeth. The only thing Barry managed to do before passing out, was change into black joggers and a white T-shirt.
He was sound asleep, snoring louder than a snore lax in Pokémon; Barry's favorite game behind Dragon Ball Z. In fact, his snores were so loud that later the night, Wanda actually punches the wall that is connecting them, and yells, telling Barry to shut the hell up.
As the morning continues to rise, Barry's eyes were closed and was fast asleep, unaware that it was almost 8:00! And his friends; Wanda, Natasha and Steve were lingering in the doorway to his room, watching him sleep. But not in a creepy way.
Steve sighs sarcastically as he says, "Look at him, sleeping so peacefully." Wanda grins.
"Yeah...so who's gonna wake him up?" Wanda asks wearily, feeling like she's about to pass out right on Barry's floor due to his snoring that kept her up all night.
Natasha pipes up and says, "Oh allow me! I've been wanting to do this for a while!" Steve and Wanda both look at each other and shrug.
"Go right ahead." Steve stoically says and Natasha nods her head.
She walks more in Barry's room until she comes to a stop at the foot of Barry's bed, who was still sleeping. Natasha smirks to herself before leaning closer, inches from Barry's pale skin. And in a brief second, she felt bad for doing this but what the hell.
Natasha stays silent as she is close to Barry's ear and that's when she..."BARRY ALLEN WAKE YOUR SPEEDY SELF UP BEFORE I KICK YOUR ASS!" Natasha yells right into Barry's ear, causing his eyes to shoot wide open and scream in a panic before accidentally falling off his bed and onto his floor, where he groans.
Steve and Wanda watch from the doorway as Barry groans as they hear the loud thud* Wanda winces her eyes, hoping Barry didn't hurt anything while Steve's eyes widen, not expecting that to happen.
Natasha follows Barry to the other side and sees him on his back. "Morning, Sleepy head." She sweetly says and Barry moans.
"Rise'n shine, Kid." Steve calls out from across the room. He could hear the giggles coming from Wanda as well.
Barry grunts. "Ow," he slowly picks himself up and stands fully up with a wince all over his face as his left arm is covering the right side of his hip that collided with the hard structure of the floor. "For real? Why did you scream at me?"
"Cause your late!" Natasha snaps, grabbing his alarm clock and showing him the time. It read: 8:05. He's 5 minutes late!
"Throwing water works just as well. God you remind me a bit of Cait." Barry mutters and Natasha smacks him playfully.
"Yeah, well whenever I meet her, I will give her pointers on how to abuse you more." Natasha jokes and Barry grins lightly before realizing he's loosing track of time just standing there.
Barry uses his speed and in .3 seconds, Barry was decked out in a blue gingham check shirt accompanied with some jeans and his iconic black converses. He immediately speeds out of the room, through the lounge, sending ferocious winds washing over Sam and Rhodey who were sitting at the counter eating cereal, and out of the compound towards the Midtown to get to Oscorp.
Inside, Rhodey grunts and Sam groans. "BARRY!" Sam exclaimed before shaking his head and taking another spoonful of Lucky charms.
"Should we have told him that Happy's been waiting outside for an hour." Rhodey deduces aloud, enough for Steve, Wanda, and Natasha to hear. Apparently, Steve heard and looks at Nat who just shrugs in response.
Outside in Midtown, Barry is running at Mach 4, lightning zig zagging through the streets, feeling the wind and power rush his face, and his feet lifting off the ground as he runs. After coming to a stop in front of the Oscorp building, he pulls out his phone and checks the time. He was now 5 more minutes late probably cause of his pit stop at Stark bucks at Time Square to pick up a cup of coffee.
Barry lets out a long sigh. Knowing he needs to be there quickly as possible, Barry thinks quickly and when he figured out his plan, he takes action and runs up on the side of the building and vibrates at the right molecules, allowing him to phase right through the buildings structure and thankfully landing in his lab.
Unfortunately, his little mischievous plan seemed to trigger silent alarms that shoots a huge ringing noise all over the lab, irritating him and regretting on what he just did. Just about outside his glass doors, he can see a bunch of man dressed in blue with batons out rushing past his lab and down the hallway.
Barry looks away from the door view, trying not to seem suspicious about what's going on outside. After a few moments, he can hear security saying, "False alarm, everyone get back to work." That's when Barry smirks to himself.
Flash!
Barry lets out a long sigh as he types aggressively on his computer at his workspace in the lab before dropping his head on the desk, frustrated. The lab was big with a bunch of scientific equipment all across the room, with cabinets and sink, with 6 glass windows at the back of the room , where you can see a great view of an energy plant far into the horizon named; Roxxon.
That lab was definitely a huge upgrade then his back home at CCPD-well Barry wouldn't exactly say that it was a huge upgrade-more like it was modern then bigger. One small problem tho...he wasn't alone. When Norman assigned him this lab, he didn't know that he was gonna be working with someone else. That someone else was a fellow co-worker who Barry never got their name.
He seemed friendly, he had curly black hair, was wearing a green V-neck with some brown pants, with the lab coat that Oscorp provides for every scientist when they work here, and a pair of headphones-which is weird since he wasn't provided some. Guess it's for people who just don't want to be disturbed so they use them to block out any source.
After slamming his head on his desk a couple of times, he is suddenly confronted by a voice when he hears:
"I got this feeli'n on a summer day when you were gone. I crashed my car into the bridge, I watched, I let it burn."
"What?" He asks, his voice sounding muffled as his head is still on the desk.
"I threw your shit Into a bag and pushed it down the stairs. I crashed my car into the bridge. I don't care. I love it."
That's when Barry takes second before narrowing his eyes when he realizes that his co-worker wasn't speaking to him. He was singing. He picks his head up and sees his lab mate jamming out, waving his hands all over the place while he's sitting down.
"Excuse me. Hey, for real?" The co-worker was too busy jamming out that he completely doesn't realize that Barry's trying to talk to him.
"I don't care!" He sings even louder, closing his eyes and Barry tries one more time to speak, before having to resort to domestic measures.
"Hey dude!" Barry says even louder but the co-worker is just too busy singing his heart out.
Having enough, Barry summons a blight of lightning on his index finger and aims at his headphones before shooting it, sending a small shock to his skull causing him to flinch and open his eyes where he sees Barry waving his hands in front of him.
The co-worker notices this time and takes off his headphones, letting them hang around his neck as he looks at Barry.
"I'm trying to work here. So if you could just-" Barry complaints and the co-worker fully removes the headphones and sets them on the table.
"Oh I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you, I'll let you keep working." Barry's lab mate apologetically inquires, causing Barry to feel bad for sending 1,000 volts to his new lab partner's skull, creating a small static shock-similar when you get a shock from touching a door knob after the electrons in the metal move quickly.
Barry nods his head before turning his attention to his computer and examines his work. But suddenly, he is again lost out of focus when he hears his lab mate singing again. This time he wasn't singing, He was humming 'doubt' by twenty one pilots that Barry knew all to well.
One day at Star labs, when Barry was doing some systems check on the facility, Cisco would always come entering humming that exact same song and it went for the whole week. Barry confronted him about it and actually got addicted to it too, but after hearing it constantly, the song just got more annoying.
Which explains why Barry has an annoyed look on his face when he quickly glances at his co-worker, who was sorting out some papers before putting his eyes on his screen.
Knowing he has to be friendly in order for this mission to carry on, Barry kindly says, "Hey is that 'doubt' by the pilots? Cause I love that song."
The co-worker looks up and stares at Barry. "Yeah, I absolutely love that song! Ever since my brother showed me, It got stuck in my head and later I downloaded that song and just played it on repeat," he says with a small chuckle at the end. Barry grins.
"That's cool man. I heard it from a friend back in my home town." Barry says, sounding more like himself.
"Oh yeah in Minneapolis, right?" He asks, fiddling with a red pen in his hand.
Barry nods. "Yeah," he furrowed his brows. "Wait how did you know that?" He curiously asks.
"Mr. Osborn is always letting the newbies partners know a little bit about them before working together. It helps so we can trust." He responds.
Barry looks to his side and grumbles. "Great...so you know about me but I don't know nothing about you." Barry sarcastically says to himself.
Barry's lab mate reaches over from his side to Barry's and extends his hand. "Jim Neutron. But my friends call me; Jimmy." he says in greeting.
Barry smiles and shakes his hand. "Sebastian Smythe. Nice to meet you man. Where you from?" He says calmly.
"I grew up in New Orleans," he says simply and Barry nods. Jim then says, "But...after my dad left, my mom wanted to have fresh start so we moved to Manhattan. There she met another guy and he later became my stepdad. Then a few years later...my mom died." Barry felt so sorry for him on that last part. He knows all too well about death and how it changes a person.
After his mother: Nora Allen's death, and his father sentenced to Iron heights, Barry obsessively tried to look for his mom's murder-even went to Metropolis, and Star City to find anything impossible to prove that he wasn't crazy that night. But he knew what he saw.
Tho, Jim was lucky. Since Barry never really got to move on, it was almost like he was trapped in Central City and couldn't escape no matter how much he wanted to. Barry could never try and restart. His mother's death was just too much.
With a saddened nod, Barry says, "I'm sorry for your loss."
"Nah it's all good. My stepdad and I are actually doing well by ourselves. We're getting by fine without her, but I do miss her." He says and Barry morosely grins before glancing back at his computer.
Trying to change the subject, Jim clears his throat before asking a bit smugly, "So...Minneapolis. How is it over there? You support the Vikings?"
Barry glance back at him with a nervous smile since he's never been in Minneapolis in his life. So to carry on this conversation with precise details, Barry again speeds up to mach 4 and runs through Oscorp's front entrance doors and towards Minnesota. After a bit of sight seeing, Barry comes racing back to New York and back up to his lab, where Jimmy is still sitting there, frozen in time.
Luckily, the alarms didn't go off so when he stops running and sits back down in his position before he left, it just seemed like they were just having a normal conversation.
For the brief second of time starting back up again, Barry says, "Oh it's very beautiful. I mean you literally get to explore the four seasons. So many lakes, hills and great views." Smiling at the end, feeling rather glad he left to go to another state. So worth it tho.
"Nice! You a Viking fan? Wait of course you are-you grew up in Minneapolis," Jim says, having a one way conversation with himself. Barry winces.
"Uh well actually I'm a Chiefs fan." Barry says matter-of-factly. Jim tilts his head followed by raised eyebrows.
"Wow you betrayed your own state? That's cold man?" He joked causing Barry to chortle.
"My dad grew up in Kansas City and he's been a Elvia Garbac fan before Patrick Mahomes since. Even when we moved to Minnesota, my dad stayed true to his roots, making me a Chiefs fan." Barry explains but with a dumbfounded Jim Neutron.
"...Who's Patrick Mahomes?" Jim questioned.
"What?" Barry asks, sounding so confused by his labmate's love for Football if he doesn't even keep up with the players. Barry's face scrunched adorably. "What do you mean..." he said, looking at Jim with a still somehow happy looking confused face. "Patrick Mahomes is the QB's for the Chiefs. He's been with them since the year 2016." He explains with a face.
"Um...the QB of the Chiefs is Alex Smith." Jim claimed with a grin.
"That was in 2015." Barry simply says.
"Sebastian, what year do you think it is?" He says before scoffing and going back to work on his computer, leaving Barry to muse deeply in thoughts about his time on this Earth. And how far he far he really traveled.
12 hours later.
It was now night. The sun was finally setting down, with its ray's dimming every hours until the the lights of Time Square can be seen in night time New York. The lights seemed to shine through the windows and hits Barry's computer, where he's intensely staring at his screen that he doesn't notice that Jim was calling out his name.
"Yo Kansas?" He calls out a little more louder, sending Barry out of his daze. Barry looks up and stares up at Jim who had a his headphones around his neck and briefcase in hand while at the foot of the entrance of the lab.
"Yeah? What's up?" Barry asks. Jim points to the clock that's hanged up on the wall, motioning Barry to check the time. His eyes landed on the clock and is surprised when it reads; 8:00.
"We got to go. Mr. Osborn doesn't allow anyone in the labs after 8:00 pm, says something about not letting anyone tamper with work when he's home with his wife and kid." Jim inquires.
Barry nods then turns his computer off, grabs his Oscorp lab coat, gets up from his desk and proceeds to walk out of Oscorp.
After using the elevator to get to ground level, Barry walks out first and passes by Felicia's Hardy's clerk desk where he says with a smile "Night Felicia. See you tomorrow."
"Night Mr. Smythe." She wearily says, sound like she's already done with him-ITS BEEN TWO DAYS! How is she already hating on him?
Barry opens the doors and exits out of the building, sing the fresh air of New York. He could smell that elevated spring break combined with a hint of batter and the cheesy smell in of the Pizza joint: Leo's in front of him- well a building away.
After taking a second, Barry looks around him discreetly and when no one was looking, Barry uses his super speed and races back towards upstate New York and into the Avengers compound, where he's greeted by Wanda who was curled up in a blanket looking like how a turtle hides in a shell after feeling threatened by a predator as he walks in and closes the door behind him. She looked so adorable, he thinks to himself and thankfully Barry learned how to block out his thoughts because apparently...Wanda can read minds like a fortune teller or...a witch.
No one-not even Wanda herself told Barry about her full extensions of her powers. Finding out about this one was a huge surprise and took a whole lot of training to keep his thoughts hidden by her. Even though he tells her everything, it is sometimes okay to keep things hidden. It helps not to cause tensions with his friends.
Barry sets his coat down on the glass table that's next to the door and walks over to the lounge and plumps down on the sofa, with a sigh of relief from being at work. She had been watching the boy in the blue pajamas and based on the multiple empty ice cream cartons littered on her table and the little bags under her eyes, eating and crying as well.
Wanda glances over at Barry from the small sofa she was sitting on and smiles as she jokingly says, "Hi honey, how was your day?"
Barry laughs and returns the same energy she has. "Stressful. Could my wife come and sit next me to cure my stressfulness."
Wanda giggles, already falling for Barry's antics. "Wow! so we're married, yet I don't have a ring on my finger." She teased and Barry sucked through his teeth.
"Must have got lost in the mail. Then again I did order from USPS...Yeah...I fucked up." Barry jokes, causing Wanda to giggle more before getting up and sits next to him, grabbing the tub of ice cream off the table and starts eating.
"I didn't know you liked World War Two movies. When was this?" He asks, looking at her with this confused face.
She puts the carton down, clears her throat before saying, "Oh I've always liked these type of movies that are based on true events of Hitler or historical back stories."
"Oh." Barry simply says. Wanda realizes the face he's making and looks at him. "I didn't know you were a Nazi." Barry divulged.
"Well I was sort of kidnapped and enslaved by ex Nazis groups before we kicked their asses" Wanda praised with a smile. Barry laughs while he rubs his eyes in tiredness.
He sets his hands down and after a few glances behind him, notices that him and Wanda are the only ones here. "Where are the rest?" He asks.
"Well Sam is sleeping, Rhodey is with Stark, And Cap and Natasha are sparring at the training room." Wanda says, not taking her eyes off of the TV.
Barry gently nods then look again at Wanda. "Why are you here? All alone?" He asks, wondering why Wanda is brooding in the dark instead of going to sleep or something.
"I needed to get out of my room. It was too depressing in there. Besides I wanted to check on Pietro as well." She admits wit her face falling down as she says that.
"You okay?" Barry asks, noticing the change in her tone at the end.
"I'll manage." She says simply before looking down at the ground, feeling like she's about to shed a tear. Barry notices and gently lifts her head up by her chin and turns it towards him so that now she is looking right at him.
He stares at her hazel eyes accompanied by her beautiful brunette hair with gold streaks. He sees a piece of her hair covering the right side of her eye, and being the nice guy he is, he moves it out of the way.
"Wanda," Barry pauses before he gently and calmly says, "I know your going through a lot. But you don't have to go through it alone. I'm here. I'm always gonna be here when you need me. I don't care if I'm at Oscorp or if I'm on a mission, I'm always gonna be there for you whenever you need it, okay?"
Those words made her heart melt enough that Wanda wrapped her arms around Barry and buried her head in his chest. "Thank you."
Barry leaned down into Wanda's warmth, sighing in comfort. "Of course."
A few moments later, Barry heard mild snoring and peered down to see Wanda sound asleep with a little drool coming out of her mouth. To avoid waking Wanda, Barry carefully leaned back on the couch. He, too, closed his eyes and vanished like a flash.
Awww I love that ending! I'm not really good with couple moments so I asked a friend for some help on this one, hopefully it turned out okay.
Alright so Jim Neutron is my own character I made and is being played by Ghram Phillips. And If you don't know him, he is the menacing Nick St. Clair In Riverdale. I just thought he would play as a good scientist cause even though he's a dick in the show, the man has great talent.
Tune in next time because in the next, There's gonna be a time jump into a week at Oscorp where Barry's more comfortable enough to ask about Demons Blood. Don't worry, I will start it when I get back from classes.
Also I hope you liked that comic thing I did where I make Barry travel to Minnesota while talking to Nick. It's just in the show they never use his powers to his full expense which pisses me off because Barry is literally a god! He could travel anywhere and be back in seconds without no one noticing. So hopefully this comic panel is good enough for you guys to know that I'm not gonna play around with Barry's speed.
Alright that's it for tonight.
See you next time. SpeedyJesus354 out.
