Hey! Sorry if this chapter is boring... Anyway, if you have suggestions of what can happen tell me (i could use some new ideas) and I'll see if I can add them.

Disclaimer: Do I have to? *sighs, looks down at cards* I don't own Percy Jackson or Marvel.

Steve POV

Agent Percy Jackson was MIA. After this was confirmed, Agent Annabeth Chase broke down. We froze at first, stunned by what was happening. Annabeth was always pretty guarded and was never seen crying in the 2 years she has worked for SHIELD. She didn't show any fear when she had to go on a mission with the odds against her and she didn't so much as flinch when she came back with bruises all over her and Bruce helped disinfect and bandage her wounds. But everyone has a breaking point and it seems this was hers. Right now, she looks like her life has just been turned upside down.

We shared a very long group hug that lasted until the tears stopped coming. She then stood up and excused herself, leaving the room and probably heading to her quarters. She didn't come to lunch, nor to dinner. I knew I didn't have a reason, that she was strong and could handle it, but I was worried about her. After all, she was only 19.

"Do you think she's going to be alright?" I asked.

"I sure hope so. It's weird seeing past her barriers. It feels like we're intruding in her personal space." Said Clint and I nodded in agreement.

"What I want to know is how did Jackson disappear from my tower. I asked JARVIS and he said that at one point he was here and then he couldn't detect him anymore." Tony said obviously annoyed.

"I think this is a mystery for tomorrow." said Natasha while rubbing her forehead. "I don't know about you but the whole emotional stuff and the search tired me. Night!" And with that she left. We followed soon after.

-time skip to morning-

The sun rose. Time to get up. It was normal for me to be the first one awake. Military habits go away hard. I took a shower and then went on my daily jog around the city. I was surprised when I came back that someone was already up. It was 6:30 am after all. I thought that maybe Natasha or Clint had a nightmare and decided to not go back to sleep. It was neither of them.

Annabeth was bent over some papers and was furiously writing something.

"It looks like a hurricane went through here." I said, because it was true. There were papers scattered everywhere: on the table, on the floor, on the couch…

Annabeth turned to face me and glared. I took a little step back but not because of her glare. That was more a half-heartedly attempt at one. I saw the real one and let me tell you: It's terrifying. What made me step back was her appearance. Her stormy grey eyes were duller but sparkling with hope, desperation and determination. Her honey blonde hair was disheveled and tangled. There were purple bangs under her eyes that hinted (cough more like announced cough) that she hadn't slept last night. It was shocking – everything seems to be like this since yesterday – as she was almost all the time so collected and now she was, for lack of a better word, a total mess.

"Can you give me that paper over there?" Annabeth's voice shook him from his thoughts. She was gesturing towards a paper on the floor that was just out of her reach. I picked it up and looked at it from curiosity. It looked like a map of America. I gave it to her and asked:

"What's it for?"

"Places where Percy can be. When we check one place, I cross it on the map. The rest: planning, strategizing." she said.

"You don't give up easily, do you?" I said, smiling. It was the wrong thing to say.

"I can't." she said and her voice cracked just a bit. "Three years ago, it was all about not giving up hope. And believe me, there were times when it seemed like there is nothing you can do anymore. We didn't, though, and we won."

"Won? Was it a competition or something?"

"Or something…" Her eyes started filling with tears that won't be shed. "Anyway, last time he came back. I have to have trust that he will come back this time too."

"He disappeared before?" asked a confused Clint, who was leaning on the doorway. Annabeth looked surprised to see him there which showed how much Percy missing affected her. She can tell when other people are approaching. When Natasha asked her about it, she said that it was a very useful skill to have and the fact that Clint sneaked up on her without having to try was concerning. One look at him and I saw he realized this too.

"Yeah, he did. When we were 15, we went and… explored some places and he got… lost. He was gone for 2 weeks. After that, he crashed his own funeral." Annabeth chuckled.

"So you think that he's going to do the same thing now. Minus the funeral." concluded Clint.

"I have to. When I was gone, he didn't think one second I was dead. I won't either."

"That's – wait, back up, YOU DISSAPEARED?!" I yelled. In my defense, I was worried.

"I didn't disappear, more like got kidnapped." she whispered but we heard her.

"WHAT?! Who did this?" I said, my fists clenched. Clint looked ready to punch the person who did that and while he's unconscious, release rats in his house.

"I think he's my grand-grandfather's brother." she said and shuddered at the memory.

"Wow, and I thought my family was messed up." said another voice that I knew too well.

"Hi, Tony." I said.

"That's not even half of it" Annabeth laughed. Seeing our confused faces, she said "Percy's uncles and father nearly declared war with each other more than once and we had to stop them. His grandfather poisoned his cousin. Don't worry, she's fine now. My grand-grandfather's brother killed his own daughter." she said this in a sad tone. "One of Percy's uncles wanted to kill his cousin, Thalia -yes, it's the same one as before- Luke – he was a friend, more like a brother to me- and I. The list goes on and on…"

"Are… are you ok?" I asked, shocked after what I just heard. Annabeth and Percy's families seemed harsh. She told us about it like it was normal that such things were happening. This was not normal family behavior. Annabeth turned to me and for once she seemed confused.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I- oh. Hades, this isn't normal, I forgot." Fortunately for her, no one heard her say the last part. "I mean sure, it was a bit traumatizing but usually they stop before it gets too intense and dangerous. Now, I need to draw a few blueprints for my family. Even with the situation at hand, I still have work to do and it's not like I can do anything until I receive some news." With that, Annabeth fled the room.

"When we hired them, did we do a mental check?" asked Clint jokingly. Tony was busying himself with his tablet.

Natasha walked past Tony and I and stopped in front of Clint who sighed and went to the kitchen only to return a few minutes later with a cup of coffee and one of hot chocolate. He handed Natasha the coffee.

Annabeth returned, took a few sandwiches and left saying that she doesn't have time to stay because she has a lot of work to do. She emphasized the words a lot.

After we ate breakfast, we went to seat a bit on the couch before going to train and Tony exclaimed "Bingo! JARVIS, put what's on the tablet on the TV." On the TV appeared an old article about a kid who was thought to be a terrorist but was discovered that he and 2 other kids were kidnapped and then taken across the state. The boy and girl looked a bit familiar.

"Those 2 look familiar." said Bruce, voicing my thoughts. He was asked to come by JARVIS.

"That's because you know them." Said Tony and then dramatically pointed at the screen. "These are Perseus Jackson, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood at age 12." Our jaws dropped. Except Natasha. She looked the same as always.

Tony smirked and then showed us another article where it said in bold letters "Missing" and showed a photo of young Annabeth. She looked different but there was no doubt it was her. "At age 7, miss Annabeth Chase ran away from home. There is no more knowledge of her for 5 years other than a few people saying that they spotted her across the state with two other kids." he said.

"Percy and Grover?" I asked.

"No." Tony showed us a blurred picture of young Annabeth and 2 older kids: a girl and a boy. "I ran this photo in a facial recognition program. These are:" He split the screen in two. On the first half there was a picture of a girl with electric blue eyes and spiky black hair and on the second half was a boy with sandy blond hair and blue eyes. "Thalia Grace and Luke Castellan. Age 12 and 14 at the time the photo was taken. Both of them ran away from home. Thalia when she was 9 or 10 and Luke at 9. Apparently, Thalia has a brother: Jason Grace. Unfortunately, he disappeared when he was 2 years old and was never found."

"So young…" said Natasha and I knew that she saw a bit of herself in them. Forced to grow up faster than others. Thalia, poor kid, had a brother who disappeared and she probably thinks he's dead. He probably is.

"Steve, didn't Annabeth mention Thalia? The girl that Percy's uncle tried to kill?" asked Clint. I realized that he was right.

"She did. And she mentioned Luke too." I remembered.

"This is so weird, even for us." Natasha said. Bruce nodded "Agreed."

"I'm wondering what made them run away." Clint said.

"Tony?" Tony rapidly closed the TV and at the same moment Annabeth stepped in the room. "Hey, Tony? Where did you say you keep that holographic thingy that you use for blueprints? I need to see how a few buildings I created look like in reality."

"Oh, yeah. Come with me, I'll show you." Tony said and together they went to Tony's lab.

Bruce left too to do science things. I turned to the 2 master assassins "Training?" They looked at each other and nodded. "Training."
