Author's Notes
Hey y'all! I hope you're all having a great Christmas! Sorry for not uploading for quite some time! If you haven't seen my profile, then university and work isn't giving me the time to write my stories. However, since it is the holidays, I have free time! Anyways, that is all I have to say, oh! Also, one more thing: I will be focusing more on my newer stories like this one, and another that's coming out soon. The older ones I will be taking a break from for a bit! I also had writer's block for the recent chapter of Rise of the Nephalem (Check it out… please?), though now that it's done, I can continue working on the other stuff!

Chapter III – Trouble In Viridian
Wild Pass, Road to Viridian
Me and Riolu have been travelling for quite some time now, almost three hours away from Pallet. I have become a pokemon trainer just recently, with the help of professor Oak, who gave me a special device known as a pokedex and five extra pokeballs, which will help me greatly in my journey. Even though understanding these creatures is natural for me, there is still so much unknown about them; even for me. Who knows? I might be closer to the truth behind them then I do know myself, with me being half and half put together… you know what I mean. Anyways, from time to time, I had to carry my partner on my back, every hour he just seemed to get tired instantly. To be honest, being Riolu's comforting ride is kind of getting on my nerves. Right this moment though, he's just walking fine beside me, just being his happy, stupid self. Humming random tunes and doing silly moves… I might be happy to being back in the wild, but this is the strangest thing that I have seen in my entire life so far.
I sighed, and questioned him "What are you doing?"
"Just entertaining myself to pass the time master" Riolu responded with a cheeky grin.
"You're hopeless…" I sighed once more in annoyance.
"That's because I am!" My partner's grin grew even wilder, before he settled down and chuckled at my surprised expression.
That made me sigh for the third time this day.
As we were making our ways through the thick wooded path, I was looking up into the sky, watching the white fluffy clouds just pass by without a care in the world… wishing I was one of them. Suddenly, my partner decided to do the same thing, possibly trying to figure me out again. He should know by now it's useless, so stubborn… it is what I hate about him (not literally of course). Suddenly, we witnessed something, brilliant… shining like a beacon of light in the blue ocean of nothingness; It was silver, had wing-like hands, and was flying up too high to make out the rest of the details. The mystery godly creature was like a blessing, as my hand was moving up on its own, catching some sort of glowing, white… scale? Before dying down. It was truly an amazing sight: Perfectly clean, smooth and magical. I can almost see my own reflection, though not enough to do so.
"Data of Pokemon unknown" The pokedex said in its robotic male voice, though we ignored it completely.
"Riolu, did you see that?" I asked, starting the conversation first this time, again.
Big Mistake…
Riolu was grinning like mad, while taking a peak at the scale as well "I have no idea! But this scale I know is definitely of some sort of legendary pokemon! I know that for a fact!"
"I see… by the way, why are you so excited all of a sudden?"
"You started a conversation first this time! That's some progress, riiight?"
"Yare, Yare…" I sighed, finishing the talk.
'Damn it, so close… yet so far…' The small, blue humanoid like canine did a depressed look, before fire was shown in his eyes.
"I will get through to you master! Whether you like it or not!" Was his determined reply.
"Keep dreaming…" I countered, putting the magical silver scale into my pocket for safe keeping.
Clearing, Two Hours Later
"We're going to take a break here for today" I announced, as my partner cheered loudly, and sat down on the earth, sighing in relief that he gets to rest from all the walking.
"However… you will be helping me set up the tent and other essentials for camping" It was sudden, though mentally was smirking on the inside as I witnessed the small pokemon's shocked reaction. To be fair, it was quite funny.
"REALLY?! I'm so tired though! How in the world can you have so much stamina?!" Riolu whined, before being lightly smacked on the head by me.
"When your life is always being on the run, it is pretty easy to gain a lot of stamina" I explained, getting a look of understanding from my small partner pokemon.
"More like infinite stamina…" He whispered under his breath, however, with my superior hearing, it was easy to know what he said.
"Yare, Yare… just get to work and help me, stop your complaining… looks like I'm going to have to start training you tomorrow" I said, with a hidden evil smirk as my partner's head perked up.
"Training?! Hell YES!" Riolu got excited, at the wrong time…
"Unless you don't start helping me set up the campsite for tonight, there won't be any training tomorrow" Doing a mock thinking pose, I said in a bit of a teasing voice.
"That's not FAIR! Fine! I'll help! You god damn meanie!" Riolu pouted in a childlike way.
"I'm not being mean, this is just me being… nice" I finished the conversation, with my partner pokemon struggling to find a response, only stuttering.
One Hour Later, Sunset
We were done setting up for the night to come; There was a campfire going, log benches were temporarily set up, and of course the tent that was fit for only one person and small pokemon. That certain pokemon, begrudgingly, my partner. If I'm being honest, it is actually quite comforting travelling with someone you trust. Unless you are able to understand their language, to which conveniently, I do. Wondering to myself, I thought; What would it be like to not be able to understand them to such a degree? It was a nice question indeed, though I might have an idea; pretty awkward. Anyways, the woman, known as Delia, I believe, was nice enough to give me some rations, which include canned beans, some canned steak, a small pot and pan to cook it in, some ramen packs for some reason, and a bag of marshmallows, as well as some bottled water.
I… much prefer hunting, though, she insisted that we take some things on our journey just to be safe and prepared, while the professor gave us a travelling guide and a map of Kanto. Quite handy if you ask me. This made me trust the two humans more, as I can also sense when the food is poisoned, which it is not, and I am thankful. Those two humans back in Pallet gained some of my respect in the end, which is saying something. I will never fully trust the human race, though those two will forever be engrained into my heart of how friendly they were to me.
My partner was wiped out at the moment, so I decided to put him inside the tent to rest, was careful to not wake him up of course. The next step was to get some natural water from a clean river I scouted out not too far from here, so as any human, I would find a large leaf and scoop it up like that. Though, that got me thinking, if I have these… abilities, can I, just gather the water in the palm of my hand and carry it like that? With that thought in mind, kneeling in front of the rushing water, closing my eyes and started to concentrate. It took quite some time, though suddenly I felt a pull of some of my energy, which figuring was escaping me. Once I opened my eyes, I witnessed a few small orbs of water floating right in front of me between my two arms, the size of small marbles, which soon combined into a medium sized orb. My eyes widened slightly at this discovery, before however… it wavered and splashed back into the rushing water. This elicited the very first reaction from my locked dam of emotions; shock, and confusion. One thing I haven't noticed during that is the colour of my eyes in the water's reflection.
"This might take a while…" I said to myself, scratching the back of my head, before recovering myself back into my usual stoic self.
Back at the Camp Site, A Couple Minutes Later
"Where in the name of Arceus have you been?!" Riolu shouted as he saw me come out of the undergrowth concentrating, with a medium sized orb of water floating in front of me, between my hands, which were emitting blue energy. It took quite some practice, but just before dark, I was able to get this thing down. I'm not sure what this ability is, but it is draining me of my energy pretty fast. Well, it seems that I will have to train alongside my partner on my control tomorrow. I set the water gently down into the pot, which just about filled it up, and wiped my brow, before sighing in contempt. I looked at the small blue canine like pokemon, who in return was looking at me in shock and awe at the same time. I guess it's understandable…
"No wonder what that energy I sensed earlier was… you was using psychic to carry that water!" Riolu pointed a finger at me, grinning like mad.
'Psychic huh? So that's what that ability was…' I thought to myself.
"Yeah? What about it?" I questioned my partner.
"Well, it's just that a handful of pokemon, specifically psychic types can use… quite rare in my opinion" Riolu answered, to which I nodded.
"I see…" I replied, before opening a pack of ramen, and threw it into the pot, an extra for my partner of course.
"So, how long did it take you…?" Riolu smirked.
"Almost an hour" I answered with my own, making the small pokemon fall off the log bench.
"That's Impossible! Are you a genius or something?! It takes other pokemon long and hard training to master that move!"
"I still have to learn psychic control to properly master it, I run out of energy pretty fast"
"But still though… pretty impressive"
"Thanks… I guess?"
"You're welcome!" Grinned the energetic pokemon.
And thus, for the rest of the evening, we ate our cups of ramen in silence, to which I prefer to be honest. Of course, there was small talk here and there, but mostly about the start of our morning training session tomorrow, and of course the journey to the city. I love travelling, it brings me peace, taking in all the sights that mother nature has to offer. The wild pokemon living in the forests, mountains, and even cities as well as towns… just makes the views just so much more… magical and alive. They make me feel the most alive. It even sometimes brings harmony to the two sides fighting in my mind. That is why I meditate during the late nights and early mornings, because it helps me put together the two sides, helps me control them better. People may call me stoic, or too calm, or even unemotional. However, it is for my own good. Just having pure emotion makes me lose my self-control.
Once we had our dinner for the evening, and the stars were starting to light up the sky, we decided to have some marshmallows for dessert. After this, putting out the campfire, with Riolu waving a goodnight to me as he went lights out inside. I decided to stay out and meditate under the night sky for some time, with the sounds of the wind and night pokemon entering my ears. I felt at peace, so decided to stargaze for a bit afterwards… thinking, the questions echoing in my mind again; Who am I? I still don't know my own name, which is driving me crazy, considering that my partner always calls me 'master', it's really getting annoying. What am I? Some sort of new pokemon species? Or just a normal human with special powers? Could I be both at the same time? There are still so many more questions I have no answers for, though maybe it will come in time… I'm not too sure yet. However, maybe someone will answer them for me at some point. And on that note, I called it a night.
A young mysterious woman, not much older than Delia Ketchum, with long silver hair, watched the boy with a saddened smile on her face, before disappearing deep into the forest.
The Next Day
The first one to wake was of course myself, who got out of the bed already dressed in my new clothes; just a plain casual blue shirt, basic silver jeans, plain onyx outdoor sneakers and a black leather jacket. To be fair, I am not a fan of being too complex with fashion, being all fancy isn't my kind of thing. Though, it was about time to escape from those ragged and dirty clothing that I've been wearing since the time I was running… from… something, I do not remember. Putting that aside for now, deciding to instead get my daily morning meditation out of the way. After some time of peaceful sounds of nature and fresh air, the familiar small flap of a tent was heard, which means that my partner pokemon has finally woken up. Opening my eyes, it was amusing to see him so… groggy. Guess he is just not a morning person, or pokemon, in this case.
"Urgh… what time is it…?" Riolu groaned out, trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes.
I look up at the location of the sun, before smiling innocently "It's just about mid-morning, in time to begin your training"
"Training… though, breakfast first?" He asked, his eyes adjusting to the sunlight.
"You won't be able to perform properly on a full stomach" I said, making the small canine pokemon's eyes widen slightly, before falling to the cool green earth.
"You've got to be kidding me…" Riolu groaned out.
However, before my partner was about to go to sleep again…
"This should wake you up fully!" I shouted, before pouring cold water on to him, to which the small pokemon instantly sprang up into action.
"Hey, hey, hey! What's the big idea?!" Riolu shouted, pointing an accusing finger at me.
I smirked instantly, and started explaining "Well… someone's got to learn how to wake up early in the morning, because you need a lot of energy in order to be able to train, and it looks like the cold-water trick worked just fine"
"That was not fair, and not nice" The small canine like pokemon pouted and crossed his hands.
"Do you want to train or not?"
"Yes! Of course I want to!"
"Then learn to follow a healthy lifestyle for it"
"Yes master!"
"Also, don't call me 'master', it's annoying"
"What should I call you then?"
"How about… sensei from now on"
"Sure! Honestly, sounds way better"
"Anyways, to start off your physical training, we must work on your stamina; ten laps around our campsite, ten sets of ten of push-ups, sit-ups and squats… go" I ordered, making my partner look at me in shock.
"Th-th-that's… a lot for a starter" Riolu stuttered for a response.
"Do you want to get stronger or what?"
"Yes!"
"Then stop complaining and do it!"
"Yes sensei!"
"Now, I'll be keeping an eye on you, so you don't slack off, and work on my psychic control" I finished the conversation, and our sessions began.
In the end, we trained for at least an hour and a half, with the inclusion of a spar in the end after a short break, the results were already starting to show; Riolu's speed seemed to increase quite frantically in this short amount of time, as well as learning a move called quick attack. His strength as well, seemed to learn a second move called power-up punch, as seeing the small cracks in the small rock hill that's close by. Even though it is weak, it is a good start. On my end, using psychic on a single object became less taxing, and slowly migrated into handling multiple. It was much more difficult of course, though I never gave up. We felt accomplished together, so, as a reward, we both ate our breakfasts happily, even though I didn't show it. Our breakfast were cooked steak and beans. Though, once we were done, we had to pack everything and move on with our journey.
Viridian City
It was… a pretty big place, with high buildings towering above us, looking down like we're just a bunch of ants down on the road. There were humans everywhere I stared, which made me shiver at the sight slightly, instantly being on guard. Riolu, who is my partner pokemon, tried his best to always calm me down whenever he feels I'm stressed or panicking. It is good to have such a reliable partner pokemon to be by my side (I would never admit it in my life), even though he could be pretty goofy at times. I guess it's just his way of trying to bond with me or understand me more or something… it will never work. Always trying to bring out some sort of happy emotion from me, so damn stubborn…
We were standing at the edge of the city, the only reason I was seeing all of it is because of my superior eyesight. The small, blue canine like pokemon was gaping at the site of the large city known as Viridian. Looking at each other, we took a couple of steps forward, before we were stopped by what looked like a police officer. She looked like a serious woman, who's doing her job properly, with sporting the blue and light blue combination uniform, and the badge being of any indication. She also had cerulean hair and brown eyes, honestly is quite a looker. Though, love is not really my thing, it will only get in my way. I was nervous, the way she was looking at us, very analytically… before, smiling all of a sudden?
"Welcome to Viridian city trainer and pokemon! Do you have your ID on you?" She asked me, before holding out her hand, with me complying, albeit hesitantly and giving her my pokedex, before it spoke in its robotic voice.
"Trainer name unknown, place of birth is also not known. Started his trainer journey in Pallet Town, here to provide information on pokemon" It informed.
"Ah, I see, you must be the mysterious boy that I've been told about!" The officer said, as she gave me my pokedex back, before looking down to see my partner pokemon.
"You're a cute little one! What's your name?" She smiled, picking him up.
"His name is Riolu"
"I see, hello Riolu! I'm officer Jenny! It is nice meeting the both of you!" The now known officer Jenny introduced herself to us, putting him down, and doing a salute.
Riolu responded with his own "Hello officer Jenny!"
I just simply grunted out my response and nodded my head.
"Not very talkative, are you? You know, you are the third trainer to arrive to Viridian, and if you are here to get to the pokemon centre, I can get you there in a flash! It is much safer, as there are rumours of criminals spreading around, who are hiding in this very city. If you spot them, give me a call immediately" She gave her number to me, and I nodded my head in return.
"I much prefer walking"
"Come on sensei, just this once…" Riolu pleaded, doing the infamous puppy dog eyes.
I sighed in annoyance "You're so hopeless… alright, fine, we'll take a ride"
"YAY! Sensei's the best!" The small pokemon cheered, bouncing up and down on his feet.
"Alright, you made the right choice, also, why are you calling your pokemon hopeless?" Officer Jenny asked in curiosity as me and my partner pokemon climbed on into the sidecar of the motorcycle.
"You wouldn't understand" I answered with a sigh, as my partner imitated the noise of a motorcycle starting up.
"I'm sure I won't, but your pokemon is sure rearing to go" Jenny smiled, and chuckled.
"Yare, yare daze… that's one of the reasons" And on that note, I went silent, with officer Jenny starting the motorcycle, and taking off.
"Yahoo! This is so much fun ha-ha!" Riolu screamed out as we rode towards our destination.
Pokemon Centre, 3rd POV
Bright pink hair, cocoa brown eyes, pink coloured dress with a combination of a white nurse apron and wears flat Mary Jane shoes. This is nurse Joy, the caretaker and owner of the Viridian pokemon centre. She was just having a normal day, standing at the front till, waiting for injured pokemon to treat and heal that the trainers bring in. Her little helper, a Chancey, who was also wearing a nurse's outfit her size, was just cleaning the floors peacefully while humming some calming tunes to herself. However, today, would be an unexpected visit from a mysterious boy who's partner is a small canine pokemon known as Riolu, who were hitching a ride with officer Jenny earlier today. All of a sudden, the glass of the doors broke open, eliciting a shocked and frightened reaction, as anyone would if they fear they're getting robbed. However, what gained her surprised look is who came from them, before she crossed her arms, and shook her head in disappointment. The pink egg shaped like pokemon got out of the way as fast as possible, as they heard another pokemon screaming in excitement at the thrill.
Pokemon Centre, OC's POV
Officer Jenny was literally speeding on the road, as our destination came in sight, the motorcycle was as loud as a t-rex roar, making my ears bleed, so I had no choice but to cover them and duck to not get flung off accidentally. Riolu on the other hand, was enjoying himself too much, as he had an evil grin on his face, screaming bloody murder. I tried to tell Jenny to slow down, but it seems she was not able to hear me behind that helmet and the loud roaring of the vehicle. Just as I thought it couldn't get any worse than this; we literally FLEW through the doors of the pokemon centre that we were supposed to be at, smashing the glass in the process. Holding onto my dear life, I tried my best not to puke out the breakfast we ate back at the temporary campsite in the clearing, using psychic to at least try and lessen the impact of the motorcycle hitting the ground. When it stopped, I sighed in relief, turning off my ability and shakily getting out of the sidecar, before falling to the ground, feeling all dizzy from it all.
"Sensei!" Riolu shouted as he rushed over towards me, looking over me for any injuries.
"I'm fine… just feeling a little sick" I answered in a cold whisper, as a scolding look came across my face, making my partner pokemon shiver slightly.
"Oh my goodness, are you alright?!" Nurse Joy answered in a worried tone as she rushed over to check up on me.
"Chancey, quick, use Heal Pulse!" She quickly ordered her pokemon, who complied instantly.
"On it!" She answered and concentrated, as a green pulse came out of her palms, healing most of my motion sickness, having enough energy to sit down on a nearby chair and take a breather, sighing in content before grabbing a bottle of water out of my backpack and drinking some of it.
"Sorry about this… I guess I just got carried away" Officer Jenny chuckled and rubbed the back of her head sheepishly.
"How many times have I told you that the pokemon centre is not a drive thru?! I hope you have the money to fix these doors" Nurse Joy scolded her, and the police officer nodded her head and put her hands slightly out in defence.
"How's the kid?" Jenny changed subject, as she and the nurse looked over in our direction.
"Just a case of light motion sickness for now, make sure to follow the road safety rules next time officer" Joy said.
"It will be done! Kid, this is your stop, I'm heading off! Remember, call me if there is an emergency or get any sightings of these criminals!" Officer Jenny said, as she waved goodbye and drove off back to her station.
"What am I going to do with that woman…" Nurse Joy sighed, as she approached me slowly, making me slightly tense up.
"Are you feeling better now?" She gently asked, making me grunt out my response.
"I am not riding a motorcycle ever again… especially hitching a ride with her…" I kind of spat out.
"I'm sorry about Jenny, she's always like this" She apologised.
"Not your fault, so don't apologise" I replied.
"So, how many nights are you here to stay?"
"Up to at least two, don't want to stay for long"
"Alright, just hand over your pokedex to me and I'll register a room for you"
I complied, and she went to the counter and put the pokedex through a special slot in the table, and basically ate it, before coming out again. The nurse then came back and gave it back to me, before showing us to our room for the days to come. Apparently, she explained that she was expecting us to come here, and that I'm not very good when it comes to people, so she'll try and make the place as lively and less stressful as possible, to which I thanked her. Though, she doesn't really have to go that far for me, since we barely even know each other, as well as just recently met. She also said that there aren't many trainers staying here at the moment, since most of them already left to continue their journey to collect some badges to compete in a tournament of some sort.
"Excuse me nurse Joy, but what is this pokemon league you are talking about?" I asked in curiosity as I entered my room.
"The pokemon league is basically a battle tournament, to see who would come up to the top and become the champion. You are required eight official badges in order to qualify for the league, which you get from special gyms that are located in cities across the Kanto region, the hosts of the gyms are known as gym leaders, who you will prove your worth to in order to gain their respect and earn a badge corresponding the pokemon element type they use" Nurse Joy explained.
I gained a look of understanding "A test of skill, huh?"
"Exactly, and if you're interested, I can register you into the tournament through your pokedex" The nurse smiled.
"I'll think about it…" I answered, though, when I looked at my partner, he was already bouncing on his feet, making me sigh in exasperation.
"Your partner really looks like he wants a go at it" Nurse Joy chuckled at the energetic pokemon's antics.
"Yare, yare… you're so hopeless"
"Because I am! I would love to challenge many strong pokemon to battle and win, win and win! You know what else? I would also like to beat up a Lucario at some point!" Riolu giggled at the thought of getting stronger.
"You're getting ahead of yourself kid" I sighed again as I picked him up and held him in my arms.
"Alright, fine, nurse, I shall enter the league, since my partner wants to" I agreed begrudgingly as I gave the nurse my pokedex, who took it and went back to the ground floor to scan in my id, to register for the league.
"You're such a pain sometimes, you know that right?" I asked rhetorically as I sat down on the bed, my partner getting out of my grip, and sitting next to me.
"Well, you want life to be more fun and adventurous, eh? Try mellowing out a bit sometime and enjoy doing something awesome once in a while!" Riolu said, getting a surprised look from me, as that is the wisest thing he said so far.
"Hmm, no. I will not relax until I am not in danger anymore"
"You have me to protect you"
"A hopeless case sometimes you are…"
"And that's because I am" My partner pokemon said with a small grin. I elicit a sigh for the fiftieth time this day.
That was the perfect time for the nurse to come back with my pokedex.
"Here you are! You are now fully registered into the pokemon league, good luck, and have fun! Also, breakfast will be at ten am tomorrow" Joy said and reminded.
"Sure, thanks" I said with a wave.
"You know, you are a very humble person, putting your pokemon's happiness first before yourself" She said with a smile, before closing the door, going back to her work.
Riolu smiled and spoke "You see, I have the best sensei ever, who is you!"
"Yare, yare… we are continuing our training tomorrow, I'm putting the alarm at eight exactly" I subtly grinned.
Riolu paled at this but reminded himself that it is to get stronger.
Night-Time, Outskirts of Viridian
"Have you discovered the current location of the subject?"
"We believe that we have sir, though we need confirmation first"
"He's possibly hiding out at the Viridian pokemon centre"
"Good, make sure to capture him alive! Do not fail me!"
"Understood boss!"
"You ready?"
"Of course, that promotion will be ours for the taking, once we capture the brat"
"Yeah, you're right. Unlike those fools, we are much better at our job"
"Hah! You got that one right on the mark!"
"Let us go, we have no time to waste"
"Indeed"
Morning, Viridian Pokemon Centre
"Riolu, Power-Up Punch!" I shouted, causing my partner to grin.
'Gather the energy into my fist, gather the friction in my feet, and… take off!' Riolu did his inner monologue and struck the rock that was there conveniently on the poke-centre's training ground/battlefield. A small crack appeared in the middle, before a small chunk of the rock fell to the ground.
"How was that sensei? Pretty cool huh?" Riolu awaited the praise, though instead got a rub on his head from me.
"You were rushing it, take your time" I gave my critical analysis. It might've been simple, but it got the small pokemon scratching his head.
"What do you mean sensei?" The small, blue canine like pokemon asked in curiosity and confusion.
"You will have to figure it out yourself, just like I did with psychic. I'd rather learn by actively doing the activity with trial and error, that way you'll learn from your mistakes" I said, smirking on the inside, as my partner got even more confused.
"You and your stupid riddles! I'm getting a small headache just by thinking about it!" Riolu shouted while grabbing his head in frustration dramatically.
"Who knows, you might grow a second head from it" I casually said.
Riolu looked at me, in fake-anger "Hey! I'm not stupid!"
"Then figure out how to use Power-Up Punch"
"I'll do it before ten am hits!"
"Interesting, before breakfast huh? Wish you luck, I'm going to go and continue practicing my ability, don't slack off, ok? I'll sense it from a mile away" I smirked on the inside.
"Yeesh, I remember… scary times…" Riolu finished, and I went off on my own.
"Alright, here we go! Lets try this thing again!" And the small pokemon went off instantly to train, wanting to impress his master/teacher.
OC POV, Off-Shore Beach
For once, it is silent. Everything has just become a lot more hectic in a span of a few days, I hate it. This is the most I have ever spoken since I started travelling with that Riolu. It makes me feel… tired. It is exhausting to talk this much, with almost a week into my journey. Usually, I am just a lone wolf, just sticking to the shadows, trying my best to stay out of humanity's reach. However, this, small pokemon, is just… how do I describe it? Troublesome? Hopeless? Stubborn? Maybe all three at the same time, always acting like a little tough guy. At least he's training alright, not slacking off. I can sense it with my ears and nose, the struggle to figure out that move. Just an hour and a half of training to go before breakfast. I am not good at general communication honestly, even though I've been improving thanks to my partner, communication with people is a whole different story. I believe I've told you this before. The sound of waves in my ears helps me to recollect my thoughts and calm myself down from all the latest chaos. Crazy, isn't it? All the trouble that's been brewing lately around me, and this is only just the beginning.
I breathed in the fresh oceanic air and sighed; oh how I wish for more peaceful days like this. Standing up, I found an area to practice my psychic control. It was a place that had a few pebbles in the sand, the water was nearby as well. Closing my eyes, I concentrated, emptying my mind of stray thoughts, imagining the millions of grains of sand swirling around me like a small twister. Around me, the sand particles started lifting off the sandy earth, the small rocks following it in the process, surrounding me in a sphere. It started piling up slowly. I felt my energy starting to decrease drastically, so, opening them I did, breathing calmly and moved my glowing blue arms around, the sand and pebbles following it. I was starting to sweat lightly, as the energy from my body continued to be pulled away. This must be a combination of psychic and some sort of telekinetic ability. I dropped suddenly to my knees, panting heavily as I watched the sand fall back down along with the tiny rocks. Sensing a presence, I took a look around to witness some of the creatures, watching me train; some of them were… crab like, and two of them, were, looking at me with strange eyes, always smiling and were purplish/pink. A couple of small clam-like pokemon were near the wetter sides of the beach, watching from the distance.
"Why are you all here?" I asked, cautiously.
"We are just… here, to watch" The purplish pink-like one said in a deep and slow monotone.
"To protect, you" The other said soon after in the same monotone.
"We're your loyal guards, oh young legendary one" One of the crab like pokemon bowed, before straightening up again.
"Silence… do not give too much… away" One of the purplish pink-like pokemon instantly cut in, in its usual slow yet serious monotone.
"I apologise, Slowpoke" the crab like pokemon apologised, which the now known Slowpoke nodded his head slowly.
'Young legendary?' I thought to myself, this new information processing in my brain, producing more questions, that have no answers to them.
The pokedex in my pocket all of a sudden activated, making me grab and see a picture of the pokemon I'm staring at, informing me in its robotic male voice "Slowpoke, the dopey pokemon: incredibly slow and sluggish. It is quite content to loll about without worrying about the time"
'Must be nice' I thought to myself, as I continued to scan the pokemon. A pretty useful device I must say.
"Krabby: The River Crab Pokemon. It's pincers are not only powerful weapons, but they are also used for balance while walking sideways" The pokedex said.
'Interesting, not like I knew that already' I smirked to myself.
"Shellder: The Bivalve Pokemon. Its hard shell prevents any kind of attack, only vulnerable when its open" It analysed.
'I see' I thought to myself, putting the pokedex back into my pocket.
"I see you have become, a trainer, young one… good decision" Slowpoke spoke, slowly, smiling slightly.
"Thank you, though I would like to train on my own, please… without any disturbances. Privacy is a must" I said seriously.
"Understood, sir" Krabby said, as all the pokemon started moving away, some back into the water, some into the sand and the others elsewhere.
I sighed, one strange thing just happens after another; first, a strange godly-like pokemon, the next, a stupid motorcycle ride with officer Jenny that Riolu wanted and finally, a gathering of water types around me. Its like they worship me as some sort of deity. I honestly dislike the treatment. I sat down cross-legged on the soft sand of the out-of-the-way beach and decided to calm myself through meditation. It worked wonderfully. I love the ocean, especially the sound it makes once its waves hit the shore. I would love to explore the world hidden beneath those waters one day, but it will have to wait for now. That just reminded me, with this strange energy I harnessed, is there a way to control it further? It is a theory, but I might try it out in the next training session we'll have on our travels. Time flies by, I sense that Riolu has outdone himself this time, so its time to head back, since it is almost time for breakfast to be served in the centre's café.
Suddenly, my danger senses went off… something is not right.
'Oh no, Riolu!' I screamed in my head as I rushed back as fast as I could.
It seemed that I noticed a bit too late, as my ears rang as an explosion was heard at the location of the pokemon centre.
Pokemon Centre, 3rd POV
Screaming from trainers were heard, growling from pokemon as they engaged with the strange people wearing black uniforms, red R on the front. Moves were being shouted out as the trainers still staying the nights defended the centre with all their might. The strange men and women in the uniforms, which basically were the grunts, had evil grins plastered on their faces. Some of the grunts managed to get through and started stealing all the pokeballs stored in the back, with the possibility of there being pokemon inside. Nurse Joy was captured by the grunts, who was silently putting the pokeballs into the bags of the strange bad people. Some of the trainers were starting to lose their battles, some won, trying to help the others as best they can. However, it seems they were starting to lose hope.
"Where is the boy?!" A silhouette of a woman appeared, shouted out into the pokemon centre at the trainers present.
"If you don't hand over the special brat, this pokemon centre goes bye-bye!" A man threatened, as he held a button-switch in his hands.
"Heh, we also caught this little guy training all by himself in that training ground, he seems pretty strong, heh, a strange little one, not from this region, are you?" The woman grinned, holding up the small canine pokemon by the neck.
All the trainers were terrified, as they were all looking at each other in confusion at the same time.
"W-we don't know where the kid is, we just know he is staying the night here!" One of the trainers shouted out, as the others looked at him in disdain, for letting one of their own be sacrificed and location revealed.
"I see… I guess we'll just have to crush this little pokemon here in order to get it out of you all!" The woman announced, as the small pokemon's neck was starting to get squeezed.
"Please… sensei... save, me…" Riolu cried out painfully, with tears starting to run down his eyes. However, before he could even go unconscious, he sensed the aura of his trainer.
"Riolu!"
OC POV, Pokemon Centre
My legs were breaking the sound barrier right now, an arc of light literally coming out from behind me like the flash. I heard screaming, saw fire and heard an explosion. This is not looking good, why are the humans, whoever they are, attacking the pokemon centre? The only other option… is that they could be after me. My journey has turned out more dangerous than I thought it would, and my only thought right now is about the safety of my partner pokemon; Riolu. He has been with me through the most of it, and, grown closer… even though I won't admit it to him or anyone else. My partner always cared for me, calmed me when I started to waver, and helped me through the troubles I had so far. Even if we were only together for almost a week, I feel it is the right to protect my partner more than he does me. It is a must! If I lose him here, I will feel empty again… about everything. I would be wandering the lands on my own again, running and won't be able to continue my trainer path any longer. A bond with pokemon is really something else, and I am surprised.
"Riolu!" I shouted, as I unexpectedly formed a blue sphere in my hand, while continuing to rush at the speed of sound, appearing all of a sudden behind the two mysterious criminals, ramming the blue swirling sphere right into one of their backs, making them release my partner pokemon, to which I caught him, and round-housed the other in the stomach. I heard the two mysterious criminals scream in pain as they went flying in different directions, crashing into different things I cannot make out.
"Are you alright kid?" I asked gently, getting a raspy response.
"Y-yeah, tried to hold them off… but were too strong, at least you showed them, sensei" Riolu whispered out with a cough.
"Here, have an Oran berry, it won't do much, but it will help slightly" I said as I gave it to my partner, who ate it graciously.
"Thanks, sensei, for now… I sleep" The small pokemon said, before closing his eyes, lightly snoring.
"Don't jump into the fray like that, next time, try analysing the situation beforehand" I educated him calmly, though it seemed my partner pokemon heard, as he nodded lightly.
"I'm pissed off now… who are you?! What are your goals?!" I shouted out, my aura all of a sudden serious and combat ready.
"You know that bloody hurt… you piece of shit!"
"Yeah! Thanks brat! Argh…"
"You deserve it" I growled out, showing my longer and sharper fangs that I didn't know I had.
"Hmph, look at that, the special brat is here to play the hero and save the day!"
"It is nigh time we finally introduce ourselves, before we take you back to base!"
Next Time: A Challenger Approaches
Hey everyone! I hope you all had a fantastic New Year's Eve and Christmas! Here is a much longer chapter for the story! I hope this makes it a nice New Year's gift for y'all! Everything is all of a sudden getting intense, and you might be wondering who the villains are, right? Yeah, sorry for the cliff hanger! Though, it had to happen just this once! Sorry for not updating this story for quite some time, had trouble writing the preliminary matches in a Naruto fanfic I'm working on called 'Rise of the Nephalem' (Go check it out, please~?)! Anyways, as you can see, the OC had some personal troubles with himself, and unlocked some new abilities! You might already know what they are anyways, since you are all smart!
Good news, I will be focusing more on this fic now and the newer ones I have planned. Going to take a break from my older ones for a bit! I hope you all enjoyed reading this chapter! New one coming… possibly soon.
Review Corner:
Kiri TheFrenchReader: Yo, since he is half and half, he can't be caught by a pokeball! Unless one certain side wins and takes over. Also, your guesses… might be closer than you think, though I still won't tell you. He might get a flying type in the future, or could he learn how to fly himself? Riolu is a good starter, the reason being is to stop the OC from freaking out at times when around humans. Riolu is the aura pokemon for a reason. The little hyper guy is like a small goofy emotional support kind of guy, even though the main mc always takes care of him instead lol. Their bond will grow stronger!
Kiri TheFrenchReader: The reason that there are two of him is that since he has amnesia, he also suffers from multiple personality since he is half-pokemon half-human hybrid. And of course, since I'm a big Naruto fan, that's the kind of thing I'm going for here. The OC is always trying to keep his personalities at bay, and it is a struggle. That is why he is so stoic and unemotional most of the time. Yes, very good goals that you spoke of my friend.
