Tale Of A Hybrid
Book I – Kanto
Chapter IV – A Challenger Approaches
Last Time On… Tale Of A Hybrid
"I'm pissed off now… who are you?! What are your goals?!" I shouted out, my aura all of a sudden serious and combat ready.
"You know that bloody hurt… you piece of shit!"
"Yeah! Thanks brat! Argh…"
"You deserve it" I growled out, showing my longer and sharper fangs that I didn't know I had.
"Hmph, look at that, the special brat is here to play the hero and save the day!"
"It is nigh time we finally introduce ourselves, before we take you back to base!"
Pokemon Centre, Main Lobby
I growled dangerously at the two mysterious human criminals, standing there grinning at me like they just won the biggest prize at the casino. The only thing I could see through the smoke and fire were their silhouettes. One was a man, the other a woman. Both of them were holding some sort of circular objects; and I knew that it was not anything good. All of a sudden, they stepped through the smoke and revealed themselves: wearing the same black outfits as the grunts with the red 'R' on the front. However, what makes them stand out the most is their strange hairstyles: the man with short green hair with 'M' shaped bangs, while the woman had golden hair done up in two long pigtails. The two were strange people, though undoubtedly evil. Their eyes as well; the male with maroon, while the female with purple. They laughed at me in a mocking manner as they took in my ready battle stance, which was the basic lower stance of the shaolin kung fu. The two criminals were itching for this pokemon battle, as they were throwing their pokeballs up and down, catching them in their hands.
"What's that going to do? You think you can threaten us?" The man scoffed.
"Let us show you what a real threat to you we are instead!" The woman said soon after, as cinematic lights shined down on them from nowhere.
The woman started off first "Prepare for trouble!"
The man soon continued "And make it double!"
Both of them synchronized for the line "Here's our mission, so you better listen!"
The woman raised her hands into the air "To infect the world with devastation!"
The man then threw his rose that he had hidden behind his back, to which it burned in the fire "To blight all people in every nation!"
The woman then continued, slicing a heart in half with her pretty sharp nails "To denounce the goodness of truth and love!"
The man pointed his finger up into the sky and shouted, "To extend our wrath to the stars above!"
The woman then finally decided to say her name "Cassidy!"
The man soon after did the same "And Butch, of course!"
The now known Cassidy then did her final line "We're Team Rocket! Circling earth all day and night!"
The now known Butch then followed with his own "Surrender to us now or you will surely lose the fight!"
Once they finished their motto, gold and green coloured smoke bombs erupted behind them, creating an odd effect with the combined burning fires. My body was shaking slightly, in fear, though I didn't show it in front of them. I never show my emotions in front of others. That would just make me look like a fool in front of the humans. I was ready for anything, already fully on guard, I sensed the other bad guys slowly nearing my direction, though what I didn't expect is the flood of sudden memories to come rushing back to me. Losing my concentration for a moment, the pain in my head was great, grabbing it with my hand to ease it. I went down to one knee, breathing heavily as the images started to become more clear.
Flashback, Team Rocket Base
I was… trapped in a white room… which looks like some sort of lab; There were computers, flashing buttons and, humans in lab coats that have a small red 'R' on the top right of the clothing. Team Rocket, that is the name of this organisation… now I remember. Though, it looked like there was no way for me to break free. I was trapped in some sort of containment pod. My arms were locked in some sort of metal contraption and… the same with my legs too. The voices were muffled, though I could hear them, and see their smiling faces. Disgusting humans, I do not know what they will be planning to do with me, though I could tell that whatever I'm trapped in, is draining my power slowly… my essence, was leaving me. All of a sudden there was an explosion, and another human in a cape rushed in, though with a bright orange dragon-like pokemon.
The alarms were going off in the base, and the human with the cape approached me, ordered his pokemon to do something, though I have no clue. I saw it's arm glow silver, making me panic, before busting open the glass prison. The contraptions keeping me from escaping unlocked, and now I'm free… though, I dropped to the floor instantly, tired… drained. I looked up at the man, who gave me some berries. I ate them at an extremely quick pace, I wanted food, I was hungry… those berries restored some of my health and energy, which made some of my strength return again, and was able to hear all that was going on.
"Kid, we don't have much time… but here's a letter of where to meet me, I know you probably do not trust me… but my name, is written on that note. I'll hold them off as long as possible to allow you to escape your jailors" The man said as he and his pokemon led me to freedom.
So, that man… his name was Lance, and he saved me from an unknown terrible fate that would've been my end.
From there, is where everything began…
Present, Pokemon Centre Lobby
"What is it brat? Having a breakdown over our entrance? That should show you not to mess with us! Take this on for size! Go, Houndoom! Use Flamethrower!" Cassidy shouted, as a black hound from hell came out from the pokeball with an evil grin, showing it is ready for battle, before firing off its attack at me. Even though I did not know it, my eyes suddenly glowed purple and my power activated without me even commanding it to, since my body has now gone into pilot mode. The attack just bounced off of me harmlessly, witnessing the event of my first ever psychic shield in action. My enemy just scowled at me, not expecting me to retaliate.
"Let me give you a hand! Go, Mightyena! Use Bite on the brat!" Butch threw his pokeball and a black and grey wolf appeared. Although it slightly hesitated at first, as it sensed my aura, though it committed to the attack after all. My body just moved on its own again and dodged the attack before a blue-like swirling sphere of force formed in my hand, and slammed it directly into the wolf without mercy, before it cried in pain and went flying back, a huge circular gash on its stomach could be seen, though luckily it wasn't bleeding, if only slightly.
"Impossible! That damned fucking brat just took out my Mightyena in one shot!" Butch cried out in shock.
"Hmph, whatever! I've got something up my sleeve, don't worry about it!" Cassidy just said, before grinning.
'I see' Butch thought to himself, before signalling for all the grunts to get ready with a hand signal. Cassidy sent out a second pokemon from her pokeball, which looked to have gems for eyes. It was purple as well as small, a creepy smile adorned its face and had a red gem on its stomach.
"What is it, Cassidy? It's been a while since I got to battle… oh, so that's the one" It said in a raspy high pitch, before looking at me and licking its lips, which made me shiver.
"Yes, Sableye, it is unfortunate that we are forced to fight the young one. To be honest, I would rather serve him instead of this blasted Team Rocket" Houndoom admitted, getting a nod from the now known Sableye.
"I couldn't agree more… though, I guess we have no choice. It's nothing personal kid" The gem-eyed pokemon said with its usual grin.
"Alright Houndoom, use Quick Attack! Sableye, get the brat from behind with a Shadow Ball!" Cassidy grinned, as the pokemon sprang off into action.
It was unexpected, though Sableye phased out and appeared behind me like an actual ghost, preparing its point-blank attack, while the hound was charging me from the front. My eyes widened in shock at this, starting to slightly panic. Sweating heavily, I thought of any options; and there were only three: Either take the attacks head on, attack one of them or dodge. If I take the attacks, I would be taken out and captured that way, while on the other hand, option two sounds better, though that would leave an opening on my end if I attacked one of them. That's it, they caught me in a pincer… the heat from the fires are making me lose my focus and concentration, getting tired already, the only option left is to dodge… and it would be to jump upwards. And so I launched into the air, making the pokemon change the trajectory of their attacks. However, that is exactly what the enemy wanted: Butch, if I remember correctly, grinned madly as he made a hand signal.
It all happened so fast; One time I was in the air, and the next I was crying out in pain as electricity ran all the way through my body. That made the other Rocket grunts show their smiling faces holding some weird weapons. I struggled to break free, though each attempt sent a shock through me. I growled lowly at them. Humans… they are all evil. All they do is just cause me pain and suffering! What do they want with me? Why are they after me?! Is this how it all ends? One minute I become a trainer… and everything goes south. My rage has been building up inside me… though, the thing is, I am not able to do anything about it and get my vengeance, each shock saps my energy away from me… I'm starting to lose consciousness. However, before Team Rocket could even lay a hand on me…
"Sensei! I'm coming to save you!" A familiar childish voice sounded as my partner pokemon reawakened.
"Riolu! No! Stay away!" I managed to get a shout out, trying to keep him safe, though, as stubborn as I thought he was, he disobeyed.
"No! I'm not going to just idle around and watch you get taken away! Take this you stupid dog!" Riolu screamed as his hand started to glow a bright white light, before hitting Houndoom right in the gut. It howled in pain, before it went crashing into a wall with great force. My partner was panting slightly from the strain, though he managed to do a grin and a thumbs up.
"How was that? I told you I would learn it before breakfast!" He said with a peace sign afterwards while doing a chuckle of victory, before dodging a stray shadow ball of course.
I managed a small smile at my partner, and to say a last few words, before the last shock from the net claimed me into unconsciousness "You're… so, damn… hopeless… you know, that…?"
3rd POV, Pokemon Centre, Main Lobby
"Of course I am… that's why I'm your partner, right?" Riolu said in a quiet whisper, as a slight tear ran down his right eye, before shaking his head and gaining a look of determination, before stepping in front of the mysterious boy, and raising his arms, in defence of his trainer.
"Aww, what are you going to do little cutie? Do a little bite huh?! Houndoom, return!" Cassidy scowled, returning her injured pokemon, before the gem pokemon took its position in front of its master, grinning and ready for battle.
"Hmph, looks like the trick on the bastard of a brat worked… let's take him back to base before anymore backup arrives" Butch said, and the grunts nodded their heads, about to pick the boy up and kick the small blue canine-like pokemon out of the way, while Cassidy returned Sableye back to its pokeball, before however…
"Stop right there Team Rocket! You are all under arrest for theft, vandalism, assault and attempt of abduction of a child! Surrender now!" A familiar police officer appeared with her pokemon partner this time, a small little orange dog like pokemon, to which it is a Growlithe, growling at the members of the evil organisation. Sirens were heard all around the pokemon centre, and another kid, with brown spiky hair, brown eyes, wearing a long purple shirt, dark grey pants, a yin and yang necklace and brown boots came running out of a room with nurse Joy in tow with a few policemen arresting grunts. The boy's partner pokemon was a small blue turtle with a brown shell by the name of Squirtle.
"Hmph! Looks like the brat gets away this time, but we, Team Rocket are not taking our chances of being arrested!" Butch sneered as the two grappled away to the roof before jumping on special air hover boards, flying away as fast as possible from the crime scene.
"Get back here!" Officer Jenny shouted, before sighing in exaggeration.
"Officer Jenny! We managed to save nurse Joy from the Rocket grunts!" The boy said as they ran over to her.
"Never mind about that Gary Oak, we must save the kid and get out of the burning building immediately!" Officer Jenny ordered, as the boy now known as Gary nodded his head, a worried look on his face for his fellow trainer. Some police officers managed to get the net off of the boy with the help of electric type pokemon draining the electricity from it, and then Jenny picked up the kid and carried him on her back to safety outside, while the new arrival of Gary picked up Riolu, and ran off to safety.
OC POV, Mindscape
What is going on? Why do I feel so… light? Where am I…? Am I... dead? No, this doesn't feel like death… I only felt it once when my spirit was leaving my body, and everything felt so… void. My body would be losing temperature if I were dead… so, what is happening here? I am in some sort of stasis… is this, limbo? There are so many questions, yet little answers. In truth, my eyes were closed. They just, would not budge open for some reason, it makes me feel… scared, frightened… terrified even of what I could awaken to. However, when it did happen, and they finally responded to my commands… confusion was the only thing I felt. Why am I in space? There are clouds of different colours, sparkling stars, faraway galaxies and just, a really colourful void. How am I able to breathe? Did I somehow transport into a different dimension?
"Will you just be quiet for a split second with your constant annoying questions?!" A voice shouted in anger throughout the entire void.
"Wh-Who are you?" I asked, albeit a bit nervously.
"Don't you remember?" The voice asked rhetorically, as it revealed itself to be another copy of… me… his skin was silver instead of the normal whitish-pink humans have and, a silver tail with blue like spikes at the end. His eyes are masked with two dark blue fins, while he also has six fins on his back.
"N-No… I… I don't" I stuttered slightly, making the other me sigh, though understands what I'm going through apparently.
"I am you, your wild side, and the reason you're here, is that you almost got yourself captured" He sighed again, this time in annoyance.
"Captured? I do not know what you mean… all I remember happening is going unconscious and ending up… here" I explained, while looking around.
"This is your mindscape, a representation of your mind. And you know… you could've used some of my power back there" He explained and added.
"Your power? I would rather use my own" I denied.
"And that attitude almost got yourself captured, you need to learn to control your hybrid powers and use them properly. Those moves that you use, come from your pokemon side, and you can't just deny them. Embrace them instead. They will always be with you… I, will always be with you!" My wild side pointed at me and scoffed while explaining.
"Are you saying I'm weak?" I scowled, before growling and clenching my fist.
"I'm not saying you're weak… you're just not strong enough to fight these people, no, monsters on your own" My pokemon side explained as it looked into the distant void.
"What are you saying?!" I growled even more; my fist clenched further as it started turning white, instantly righting myself, my eyes ablaze.
"I'm not saying this to upset you… or to aggravate you, it's just the simple truth. One day you will be able to fight on your own, that is guaranteed, but you can't just get stronger by training on your own… find someone… precious to you" My other side smirked slightly and started heading back into the void.
"Precious…?" I calmed down slightly, raising an eyebrow.
"You'll find out eventually what I mean… but now is not the time" He said, disappearing into the darkness.
"Wait! I have still so much more to-" I started, though was cut off.
"No, go away, you make me tired, so I need to take a nap, ask me those questions the next time we meet" The other me echoed through the void, before flinging me out of my own mind.
Pokemon Centre, Three Days Later, Late Evening, Medical Recovery Bay, Aftermath
It was all blurry, though… I remember, burning fires in this very building. I can't see that well… where am I? The question was answered as my vision cleared. I was in some sort of bed… though, it was, pretty bright as well. Protected by some sort of glass barrier, and I was wearing some sort of mask over my mouth and nose… it seems to be keeping me alive. There were a few small wire-like tubes transporting strange liquid into me, though, everything seems to be normal with me. I hear muffled voices outside, that is where I must be… however, it all doesn't feel right. The pokemon centre… whatever it is called burned down, right? How is it still standing? Maybe the humans might have an answer to that question. I also hear, a pokemon's voice, sounding like its… worried about something. My vision is clearer now, though, my eyes aren't fully open yet. The pokemon, however, was blue in colour… its shape was, humanoid, yet had facial features of a canine. It was standing there, looking at me through the glass, before, it said something, though, more like… shouted it out.
"Guys! Guys! Sensei's waking up! He's finally waking up! Please come quick!" The pokemon shouted out in excitement and worriedness. It almost had, tears running down its eyes. All of a sudden, there were three humans; two what looked like women, one in a white and pink outfit, and the other in a blue combination outfit. There was also a speck of gold hanging on the shirt. The thing that got me interested though, is the kid in between. Pretty tall for his age, looking like one of those 'pretend-to-be-cool' kids wearing the clothing that he wears. All of them gathered around me, so I weakly turn my head around to see all of them. I was a bit nervous, though… they didn't look hostile towards me.
"Wh-What happened?" I weakly asked, and the nurse replied quietly.
"You were in a coma for almost four days, we thought you would never wake up" She sighed in relief.
"Well, Joy, I've got to say, you do your job brilliantly as usual! Since he is alive, I won't have to file anything, good seeing ya again in the world of the living kid, it's time for me to go back to my post!" She said and saluted, before walking off. I stared in her direction for a little while, before sighing heavily, and looking at the small pokemon.
"I was worried sick about you sensei…" Riolu sniffled.
"I'm sorry, for, worrying you… I, guess…" I spoke slowly, and tiredly.
"So, where are ya from?" The new, unfamiliar boy asked me in curiosity.
"I… don't, know…" I answered slowly, before closing my eyes so I could rest.
3rd POV, Pokemon Centre, Medical Recovery Bay
"We should let him sleep, I checked his temperature and vital signs, everything right now is normal, and he only needs to rest for a couple of hours or maybe another day and will be fully recovered by then, no need to worry Riolu" Nurse Joy comforted the young pokemon, making it sigh in relief and sit down next to its trainer/sensei.
"Hey, little guy, maybe you should come with us as well and leave him be for a while?" The boy, known as Gary, asked.
"Riolu!" The small blue canine like pokemon replied in defiance by crossing his arms and turning away.
"This Riolu is very loyal to the boy" Joy answered the brown-haired kid's question, before both left the room quietly.
OC POV, Pokemon Centre, Next Day
I was finally released courtesy of nurse Joy, though told me to take it easy for a while. My partner pokemon would just not let go of me… not a clue what is wrong with him. So, in a way, decided to carry him on my back until we reached the café area, not a lot of trainers, though enough to make me unsettled. Decided to just take an empty table next to the window, where I would just stare out into the city itself. My decision to hate humans is justified, as to what happened a couple of days ago with Team Rocket. I bet people would wonder if I forgot, however, I never forget large, scaled events like this. It made me scowl, looks like I did act like a fool back there… getting caught in a pincer attack is such a rookie mistake. Narrowing my eyes, witnessing with my heightened vision; those humans going around with their pokemon without a care in the world, not having a clue about the recent occurring events. Pathetic, just pathetic. Wish I could live a life away from trouble like that. Just settle down in a region and live a peaceful life with no criminal organisation hauling on my ass. The only reason I became a trainer is so I could avoid detection from such evil people, though, it only just seemed a matter of time… always somehow tracking me down.
"Sensei? You, okay? The menu is here" Riolu said as I took a look at his concerned little face. This made me slightly quirk my lips, though not enough to get a full on smile out of me. I just silently took the menu and started skimming through it. Nothing too heavy, just a simple strawberry cake and some coffee should give me some energy to start the day off, as well as some energy giving pokemon food for the little guy beside me. Writing what I want on a slip of paper, I slid it inside the menu and shut it, before putting my legs on the table and looked out of the window again.
My wild side's words echoed throughout my mind 'you're just not strong enough to fight these people, no, monsters on your own'
I clenched my right fist until it turned white, before the small pokemon put its soft and gentle hand on mine, making my attention turn to my partner.
"You okay, sensei? You've been out of it for quite some time, starting to get worried" Riolu said quietly, the concerned expression still on his face.
"Hmph" I answered and turned away.
"It's alright if you don't want to, if it's personal business then I won't bother you with anymore questions that might get you even more upset or angry" Riolu tried his best to soothe me, getting a sigh out of me. This is why I like my partner, he's just… how could I say it? Sometimes more responsible then me. Kind of saying something really…
"Here's your and your pokemon's food, enjoy" The waiter came in with a friendly smile and gave us our meals that I ordered for us both. She then went away to leave us be.
We took our time with our meals, since we were not in a rush to anywhere. It was… pretty silent for a long time. My pokemon partner tried to start up a conversation with me once or twice, though it had proven useless. Once done with our meals, we went back to our repaired room so I could pack my backpack, before heading back to the main lobby to check out. Nurse Joy bid us farewell, with Riolu of course doing a salute, while I just simply waved my hand. She also of course reminded me to take it easy for at least another day. I was told that apparently, I have a fast recovery rate, which is pretty interesting to know. And so, on that note, we walked out of the front doors, preparing to leave for the once again wilderness, to which I'm thankful for… greatly. It was suffocating being inside for so long. I would not admit it out in the open, but I kind of liked nurse Joy, she seemed… extremely nice and caring. Not in a love-love relationship, since I told you before that love would get in the way of my goals.
Just as we were about to step out of the front doors however, someone decided to stop us, which made me extremely annoyed, though when I looked at who it was, it was honestly quite surprising, to see the unfamiliar boy I do not recognise.
"Wait! Are you perhaps headed for Pewter city, fellow trainer?" The boy asked me with a grin.
"What about it?" I responded in slight disdain.
'Oh boy' Riolu thought with a wince.
"Well, if you are, then you must be participating in the league… right?" The boy guessed, making me sigh in annoyance.
"So what if I am?" I narrowed my eyes.
"Well, how about we travel there together…?" He offered.
"I refuse" I instantly answered.
"Sensei, please calm down… he hasn't done anything wrong to you" Riolu tried his best to calm my growing anger.
"Oh man… you know, its no fun travelling by yourself! By the way, my name is Gary, Gary Oak! What about you?" The now known Gary introduced himself.
"I don't have one" I answered and started to walk off into the direction of the next city.
"Oh… yikes…" He winced.
"Hey! Wait for me!" He ran after us and caught up.
"If you annoy me or get in my way, I'm going to punch you all the way through the fucking stratosphere" I threatened, making him gulp.
"Yeah, yeah… of course! Of course!" Gary nodded his head in agreement, before we continued on our journey, with now, a hopefully, not annoying travelling partner.
'Yare, yare daze…' I thought to myself.
Viridian Forest
It was a pretty place. Feels right at home for me; It's wild, though shady with the sunbeams breaking through, lots of pokemon around. Especially bug types, they seem to be the most common around here. All in all, it was peaceful. The sounds of nature; my favourite sound. The leaves fluttering in the light winds and the sounds of wild pokemon communicating with each other from far distances. I obviously can't hear what they're saying from this far, but, whatever. It was a silent trek across the wooded path, no one was really saying anything. However, we stopped when I sensed a familiar aura approaching from the left side. Everyone decided to do the same, with my partner's eyes widening at the realisation of to whom this aura belongs to.
"Come on out, I know you're there, Rhydon" I sighed, and knew where this was going already.
"So, you have sensed my presence already, I'm impressed, young one" Rhydon said as he came out of the undergrowth.
"Hmph, it was nothing" I said with my usual stoic face.
"Wait… you and this Rhydon know each other?! You can understand the pokemon?! What is going on?!" Gary interrupted, gaping at the interaction.
"Is that your travelling partner? If so, kind of pathetic for a human" Rhydon snorted in the direction of the new addition to the party.
"Pfft, I've got to handle with that shit until we get to Pewter city"
"I feel sorry for you"
"Hey! I heard that!" Gary responded to my insult.
"Yeah, so what are you going to do about it?" I smirked slightly.
"Ahh…"
"I think that's enough, I see that you've also become a trainer" Rhydon observed.
"Yeah, it's not turning out well so far…" I responded with a sigh of annoyance.
"Mind if I tag along now?" Rhydon hopefully asked, to which I nodded.
"Hai" I answered and got one of the empty pokeballs out from my belt. The larger pokemon gracefully accepted the invitation by touching the button, before getting sucked in by the red stream of light inside, shaking three times and 'pinged'. I shrugged my shoulders at the action, before releasing the large dinosaur like pokemon out.
"Welcome to the team, I guess… now I have more shit to deal with" I sighed in annoyance once again.
"You're welcome" Rhydon smiled.
"At least you're more tolerable than Riolu" I shrugged; a hidden smirk shown on my face.
"Hey! When were you able to make such jokes?!" Riolu screamed out.
"Hmph" Was my answer, making the small pokemon sweat drop. After a short conversation, I returned the larger pokemon back into the pokeball, before grabbing the brown-haired boy by the shirt, slightly lifting him in the air.
"Listen here Gary, you keep this secret between you and me, and if you ever reveal it to anyone else, I will personally remove you from this earth, got it?" I threatened, my eyes serious and my face a scowl, without realising however, I released a short burst of killing intent at him.
Gary just shook his head rapidly up and down, and with that I released him from my grasp, promptly dropping the kid down on the floor. Riolu witnessed this, and it made him shiver at the sight of his angry sensei.
"Why don't we just keep going? It is going to start getting dark soon" Gary shakily responded, getting a big breath in, before standing up and rightening himself.
"No shit sherlock" Was my response, before we continued moving, making the small blue like canine pokemon sigh.
Viridian Forest, Small Wooded Clearing
"We are taking a break here for today" I stoically announced, before setting down my backpack, with the other boy doing the same. Riolu just sat on the cool earth and sighed in relief that there would be no more walking. Looking at my partner pokemon, just sighed at his antics, before getting everything out needed. Just scanning the area, realising that it was alright; it might be pretty dense, though at least we were in an open area with a small lake nearby, to where we can get natural water. There was sunlight, since it was kind of open, not the most. The next thing that happened, is that an evil smirk came across my face, and my partner pokemon was starting to slightly panic… however, he then realised the direction I was looking was not his: but Gary's.
"Hey, boy! Mind giving me a hand?" I asked, menacingly.
"S-Sure… what do you need help with bud? Though, can't you set it up yourself?" Gary dared to ask, to which I gave him an even more evil stare.
"When you are travelling with me, you abide to my rules, and one of those rules include contribution" I said while getting up into his face.
"So, you either help me set up the campsite for the night, or you will be kicked out of my group, understand?" I threatened with narrowed eyes, whilst poking the boy in the chest.
"Ow, okay, sure I get it! I'll help! Though, what about your pokemon?" The brown-haired boy asked one final question, to which I smiled.
"He already contributed last time"
"WHAT?!"
'He-he, take that human! I had to suffer the same fate, though instead of being kicked out, it was no training!' Riolu thought to himself as he did a cheeky grin and quietly chuckled to himself.
Later, Early Evening
Gary dropped to the ground, exhausted. He's been working his ass off trying his best to set up the camp. Usually, he would just drive off in his sporty red convertible with his chauffeur, though, decided that he wanted a bit of a change in pace. That's what he told me of course. It was honestly a big mistake travelling with me. Apparently, this brat has a big ego, and plan to drive him to the ground out of that personality. It would only be his downfall if he continues like that. Rhydon helped out with getting the wood for the fire, by… cutting down full on trees. Unnecessary, but he told me that he would work hard for his master. Yeah, told him to call me sensei instead. Riolu got the water for the small cooking pot, and some sitrus and oran berries. Haven't eaten those in a long time. For some reason, my two pokemon decided to work twice as hard for me, the only reason being is that they want to make me as happy as possible. Apparently, the small pokemon also told the larger about the events at the pokemon centre a couple days ago, which made them work drastically harder for me. Told them that they didn't have to, though they insisted.
It was almost time for an early dinner, and the brown-haired hippie decided to release his Squirtle from his pokeball for some fresh air. I was just observing the events from up in a tree, since I wasn't feeling social at all. Seems that my pokemon and the turtle already are making conversation about something, though decided not to interrupt by eavesdropping. Suddenly, a wild circular monkey pokemon with a pig like snout and ears like a cat's, a tail and strange hands and feet appeared out of the undergrowth in front of me, bowing. Looks like it has some information for me.
"You may rise. Now, what is it?" I asked cautiously, in case it is a scout from Team Rocket.
"There is a trainer a few miles to the west not far from here sir, you better be on your guard" The monkey like pokemon informed as it straightened itself.
"What does this trainer look like? Give me a brief description only" I ordered, and the pokemon complied.
"Brown hair, brown eyes and bright clothing. You can't miss her" The monkey pokemon described.
I nodded my head in thanks, before passing it an oran berry "Thank you, you may leave now"
"Understood" The monkey pokemon said, before it swung away with the berry.
I sighed in annoyance; this is going to be so troublesome. Especially dealing with humans and their damn curiosity. I'm fine with wild pokemon, but this is just ridiculous. Riolu decided to join me on the tree.
"What was that all about sensei?" He asked, since he managed to witness the event.
"Don't worry about it. Rhydon, there is a trainer nearby, and I want my team to be a mystery, return for now" I said.
"Sure, as you wish" He responded and understood, before being hit by the red light and sucked inside the red and white ball.
"A trainer huh? Can't wait to battle whoever it is!" Gary shouted in excitement, with Squirtle doing the same.
This elicited a sigh of annoyance from me, and as a coincidence, the trainer that the monkey pokemon talked about showed up: brown hair, brown eyes, a light blue sleeveless shirt and a rose red mini skirt. She also is wearing a white hat with a red pokeball logo.
"Geez, where is the exit to this damn forest?" The female trainer asked with a tired sigh, before looking around as she spotted our camp, directly looking at us and our pokemon.
"Oh, I stumbled upon a trainer camp…" She trailed off before grinning and pointing a straight finger at me.
"You there! With the awesome long silver hair! I challenge you to a battle!" She shouted as she showed her pokeball.
"Alright sensei! Our first official battle! Come on! You can't refuse the challenge!" Riolu shouted as he jumped down to the floor.
"Wish she chose me instead… would've kicked her ass…" Gary whispered under his breath, making me quirk my lips slightly, though recovered back into my stoic self instantly.
"Yare, yare daze…" I sighed in annoyance for the fiftieth time this day.
Next Time: Gym Battle No. 1
What a chain of events huh? A very unlikely travelling group is about to be formed! What did you guys think? Leave a review! I guess I don't have anything else to say, though next up is Pewter City! It looks like the OC started hating humanity even more. I do not blame him though, for the way he has been treated, especially if Team Rocket is now after him. Who knows? They might show up again at some point. But now is not the time. Also, 'You're Hopeless' is the OC's official catchphrase now. If you haven't noticed for the last three chapters.
Anyways, wasn't expecting the Rhydon from the first chapter to show up right?
OC's Team so far:
Riolu (Male, Starter Pokemon)
Moves: Quick Attack, Power-Up Punch, ?, ?
Rhydon (Male)
Moves: Stone Edge, ?, ?, ?
Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed this chapter and I'll see you all in the next one!
