Emeralds, since ancient times, have been a symbol of spiritual awareness, protection, love, and wisdom. "The Jewel of Kings" some called the Emerald, and while Emeralds were beautiful Gems, most never actually saw the gem for what it was.
A Gift.
Yet, this gift was misused by all
All except one Knight...
A small dark-skinned girl in rags sat in a room with an older and sickly-looking woman on the bed. The small dark-skinned girl watched as the woman coughed violently and was so weak she couldn't even raise her hand.
Later, the girl in rags was now mostly bones as she hadn't eaten much in a while and she now sat on the corner of the streets and all she could see was the wondering eyes of bypassers who looked at her with pity but didn't help her, while some looked at her with disgust at the thought of helping her. The little girl in rags felt as if the world was against her and just felt like sleeping and not waking up to the cruel world that surrounded her.
Months later, The dark-skinned girl in rags began to look up to the sky and raised a hand to the sky hoping some person or some angel would take it and fly her off to a better place and she wouldn't have to suffer so much.
"Please someone help me..." The dark-skinned girl in rags begged aloud, yet no one even glanced at her, not a single person.
Emerald found herself at the mercy of a couple of thugs ready to end her on the spot. One of the thugs held her weapons away from her and two others held her arms and had her face a few other thugs in front of her.
One of the thugs in front of her looked at her with a glare, "This little bitch thought she could steal from us, she's gonna learn her damn lesson!"
Another thug turned and glared at him, "shut up!" He yelled, "you're the one that screwed up dumbass, next time don't be fooled by some pretty face," he said
"I didn't!" Cried the first thug
"Enough, we'll talk about this when we get back," the second thug said, he then pulled out a dust pistol and pointed it at Emerald's face, "now tell me where you stashed our jewels or your gonna be just another dead girl on the street" ordered the second thug
"Piss off" Emerald snarled
"Wrong answer bitch" he replied
He cocked the hammer of the gun back and put his finger on the trigger. Emerald looked in fear as she felt the cold metal of the barrel pressed against her forehead and she began to feel helpless and was afraid of dying here. She didn't want to die... She didn't want to die!
'Please, Oum! Someone save me!' Emerald cried to herself.
Before the thug could pull the trigger, a sword flew through the air and right into his chest. The thugs and even Emerald were surprised and they looked down the other way and saw a blond haired teen standing there. He looked at them with a bit of a smile.
"Sorry, to bother you, but I've seemed to have misplaced my sword," he said, "do any of you know where it could be?"
He then slowly walked to them and the rest of the thugs pulled out their pistols and pointed at him.
"Don't take another step motherfucker!" Cried another thug
"Oh it's not me you should be worried about anymore, I'm unarmed," He said "She isn't"
Before they could react, the Thug was shot in the neck causing him to fall, then the thug holding Emerald's weapons was shot in the back and she dropped the dust pistol and grabbed her weapons, and threw one of her blades at another thug and managed to stab him in the gut before pulling it away and ripping his stomach open.
A thug turned to shoot her but the blonde man came up behind him and snapped his neck and he held out his hand for his sword which was lifted out of the dead thug's chest and flew right back into his hand as if it was magic. And the blonde-haired teen turned to the next two thugs and killed one by stabbing them in the face and then stabbing the other one in the gut before raising his sword and tearing open his stomach which caused his guts to fall out.
The Final thug turned to shoot at Jaune but Emerald turned and quickly aimed her pistol and shot the thug in the back of the head, killing him and having his body slump against a large trash bin.
The blonde teen turned around and saw the dead thug against the trash bin and then looked to Emerald with a smile, "Thanks for the save" He said
She just nodded and took a breather, "I should be the one saying that" Emerald said
"Jaune Arc" He introduced
"Emerald," Emerald said "Emerald Susitrai"
Jaune smiled, "Well, how about we get outta here?" Jaune asked
Emerald looked at him with a skeptical look
Jaune just smiled, "Trust me, I can take you to a place right now where you don't get held up by thug's besides I owe you for saving my life," He said as he held out his hand
Emerald thought about it, he had saved her life and she did the same for him. She just smiled wondering if this was another sucker she could just steal from, but there was a part of her that told her just to trust him for now, and Emerald listened to that other part and she took his hand and he led her away from the scene.
Little did Emerald know that the time that Jaune had truly changed her life and took her away from that place was her living hell...
Currently, our resident illusionist was walking down the hallway, thinking about her dream.
Yes, Emerald always had a Dream.
A Dream she was desperate to achieve to fill her selfish desire. It was a selfish dream, but it was better than having no dream to dream about.
In her dream she was finally happy, living the life she had always wanted, with a home and money and enough food she wanted, but that dream had changed just a little bit. Now, there was a person in her life, a person she could love, and who had loved her back just as much. She had Jaune stand beside her in their house, with their children... with her family. The family she had always wanted.
But that dream, her dream, was being threatened, by her, by the one who had caused the person she had loved so much pain and had taken his attention off her.
Cinder had taken Jaune's attention away, had caused him to be angry, and to obsess over her downfall, she was causing Jaune to lose sight of what he had wanted and what they had come here to do, and Emerald didn't like it. Not. One. Bit.
So, it was her mission. Her Job. She would make it her mission to destroy Cinder for Jaune. Emerald wouldn't fail Jaune. She could never fail him, if she failed him, she could no longer be beside him, be with him.
Emerald loved Jaune, that much was obvious. But it was love that had pushed her forward. It was her love for Jaune that she willingly did things for him, obeyed him, did whatever it was he ordered.
Love was Emerald's biggest emotion and her love for Jaune was her biggest drive to succeed, because one day, she hoped he would reciprocate such love back.
Now while many in her line of work called Love a weak and useless emotion, she knew it was false. Because everything people did or do was for love. And it wasn't always the love of human intimacy, but the love of killing, the love for the hunt, the love for hookers, love cheap booze, these were all things people in her line of work loved, so love was a part of the job. Love is what drove people to do anything for whatever they had come to love
Love is the most powerful emotion in all humans.
And as if she tempted fate, as she found the corner, she was face to face with none other than the very woman she had come to despise.
Both of them stopped and looked at the other and Emerald smiled at her, "Just the person I wanted to see" Emerald said
Cinder glared at Emerald, "and why were you looking for me, Susitari?" Cinder asked
"I just wanted to have a little chat, that's all" Emerald said
"About what?"
"About Jaune"
Cinder looks at her with a halter wondering if this was some sort of trap, but she saw no weapons, she agreed and told Emerald to follow her so they can talk in private.

Cinder and Emerald now we're on the roof that has a good view of Vale and even other parts of Beacon. Cinder turned to Emerald and gave her a bit of a glare.
"You need to stay away from Jaune," Cinder told her
Emerald just glared back at her, "And why is that?" Emerald asked
"Because he doesn't care about you," Cinder said "Whatever Jaune has planned, whatever he is up to... you don't matter to him, he's only doing this-"
"Because of Salem?" Emerald said
Cinder looked taken aback by the revelation that Emerald knew about Salem, but she pushed her surprise to the side and continued "Yes" Cinder replied "Jaune has done everything and will do anything of it means he could gain her affection, he doesn't care about other people or what happens to them" Cinder said
Emerald scoffed, "So you say..." She began, "But didn't he love you?"
Cinder froze when she mentioned Jaune's feelings for her, "He didn-"
"He did! And so did you!" Emerald said with a snarl "He loved you, but all you did was betray him because you suddenly grew a heart!"
"I didn't betray him!" CInder yelled
"Really? Then what was with the Arrow to the Heart?" Emerald asked with a raised brow, "What do you call leaving him for dead in the snow? Leaving him alone while you went off and went to live your own little happy life?" Emerald finished
"I Didn't have a choice," Cinder said with a glare
Emerald glared back at her and moved closer to Cinder and looked at her dead in the eye, "We all have a choice," Emerald told her, "And you made the wrong one"
"Why?" Cinder asked, "Because I realized what Salem made us into!?" Cinder yelled back
"Because you can't accept that you're a killer like me and like Jaune!" Emerald said, "You just hide behind this false mask of being some good person who never did any wrong so you can hide the fact that your hands have just as much blood on them as the rest of us!"
"Because I realized that a life of murder and being pawns to our mother and this little game was not what I wanted!" Cinder yelled
"But you still haven't accepted just what you are, have you?" Emerald said
Cinder glared, "That's where you're wrong, I know exactly what I am, what I was, but I changed because I wanted to be better!" Cinder said
"Oh, you wanted to be better, huh?" Emerald asked "Then why haven't you tried to stop us? Stop Jaune?"
Cinder didn't answer Emerald
"Is it because you're afraid? Or is it because you still care for Jaune?" Emerald asked as she walked up to Cinder and glared at her with every ounce of hatred she held for the other teen, "Or is it both?" She asked again
Cinder looked at Emerald with anger but she also knew that what Emerald was saying was the truth. Cinder was scared, scared of being seen as a monster if her past was revealed to her other friends, and she still cared for Jaune, believing she could still change him and believing she could still save him from their mother's influence.
Emerald smiled smugly at her, "So it's true... you still love him" Emerald said
Once again, cinder didn't answer, she just looked at Emerald before looking away
"You may love him... and he may even love you" Emerald began with a soft and sweet tone "But I promise you, and I promised him, that I will destroy you!" she announced with a dark tone
Cinder's eye's widened a little in shock at her sudden change of tone
"You don't deserve him," Emerald said "His hate for you is so much that he wants you dead, which means he loved you so much and trusted you greatly, and yet you betrayed him, left him for dead, but I can be what you couldn't be! I can be by Jaune's side, and I'll never betray him, and to do that, to be by his side, I just have to destroy you" Emerald finished
Cinder looked baffled but her glare returned as she looked at Emerald, "You think Jaune will love you back?" Cinder asked
Emerald nodded, "Because I can be there for him when he has his breakdowns and when he becomes so afraid of the darkness..." Emerald said "I can be his Light"
Cinder still glared at Emerald, "You think that if you destroy me? Tear me down? He'll love you back?" Cinder said
Emerald smiled "Yes because I know he will return my love," She replied "So I will do everything I can to destroy you! I will do everything in my power to bury you in the ground, and break you!" She said with a smile
Cinder glared at her and stepped forward quickly, and she seethed with anger, "You stay away from me, you stay away from Ren, you stay away from Nora, and most of all, you stay away from Pyrrha, or I promise you... I. Will. Burn. You" CInder said
Cinder then walked past her and pumped shoulder with her and walked to the roof access and Emerald turned back to look at her as she left and just smiled. Emerald now had a feeling of how she could break Cinder, how she could truly break her to the core...
"Thank you Cinder" Emerald said with a smile "You just gave me what I needed", and with that said, Emerald had left the rooftop in order to confirm something that may be important for her next move.

Later on in the day, on the grounds of Beacon, both Pyrrha and Nora walked around the Campus.
Nora looked over to her friend and gave her a knowing smile, "You know, The Vytal Ball should be coming up soon," Nora said
"Yes Nora, I'm well aware," Pyrrha said with a smile, knowing very well where her hammer loving friend was going
"So, Are you going to ask her out?" Nora asked
Pyrrha sighed, "Nora..."
"Oh come on Pyr-Pyr, you know you can't hide your feelings forever," Nora said "You can't keep your feelings inside forever, Cinder should know..."
Pyrrha shook her head, "Nora, I-I can't" Pyrrha said "Now, with everything we've learned, with what I've learned... Cinder doesn't need-"
"Your Wrong"
Pyrrha looked at her fellow female with a confused look, "What do you mean?" Pyrrha asked
"Cinder needs you, more than any of us," Nora said "Cinder... We now know what she's been through, what's she done and how much it hurts her, so you telling her, sharing your feelings with her, You being in love with her... it might be the love needs"
Pyrrha looked at her with wide eyes, before a soft smile graced her features. Pyrrha could always count on Nora being the love expert she needed, but she was also wrong about one thing. Cinder didn't just need her, but she needed Nora and Ren as well.
"Nora, thank you, but I'm not the only one Cinder needs" Pyrrha finished
"Wha-?"
"Cinder needs all of us," Pyrrha said "Us, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, all of us, if she loves me, yeah, I'll be the biggest thing to her, but that doesn't mean she needs just needs my love, She needs all our love... because we're her family," Pyrrha said
Nora looked at her redheaded friend and she just smiled brightly, "Yeah! You're right!" Nora said, "CInder needs all the love we can give!"
Pyrrha nodded and the two girls continued to walk around Beacon...
"But we still gotta get you a real sexy dress that'll blow her away!" Nora said
Pyrrha blushed, "NORA!"
Nora just laughed and Pyrrha's face blushed madly as steam radiated off her face.
Neither would have guessed that Emerald was listening in on their conversation, and she now knew that the Spartan was in love with Cinder and she was sure Cinder cared very deeply about her partner. Emerald now had a way to break the Spartan, she just needed to let their love bloom... before destroying it completely.
