When she came to, Ed was pushing his way into a transmutation circle. When she felt what had woken her—excruciating pain, Reiko realized she had been screaming!
"It's alright, Reiko. I won't let him do this." Ed gave her a reassuring smile, halting the transmutation.
"She's MIIIIINE!" Wailed Majahal, and tried to transmute a weapon, but strangely had a bout of bad luck. The weapon flew up and impaled him.
Ed paled himself. "Reiko, did you—?"
"No," Reiko gasped. "I gave him bad luck, but that's karma. What good—or evil—you put out in the world comes back on you."
"Equivalent Exchange," Ed breathed.
