Hi! This is the 2nd chapter of Silent Scream and I just want to say that this story is inspired with the song 'Silent Scream'. You see, I kind of like watching lyric pranks of Fairy Tail (Though I'm kinda disappointed that there's not much of them) and I found this video where Lucy is using the song 'Barbie Girl' to describe what she felt under her father's care during her childhood. That's part 1 but part 2 is where the song Silent Scream is used. And I get to say, I really like it! I even downloaded the song and arranged it to be in one of my music playlists!
Oh, if you wanted to check out the video, just search Akira or 'Barbie Girl Dark Version'... I'm not advertising it or anything, I just wanted to mention it.
Anyway, here it is! Enjoy!
CHAPTER 2:Blooming Friendship
NATSU
"Natsu?" I snap my attention to my surroundings when I heard a voice called my name.
Chewing a mouthful bite of burger and fries as I observed the room, or rather the building I'm in, I shrugged when I found nothing out of the ordinary.
'Eh, must've been my imagination...' I thought and continued eating.
"Natsu!" A shout completely made me placed the food I'm eating down, curious about the identity of the one who's calling me.
"Ugh, don't tell me he's a deep sleeper?! We're gonna be late!" The voice exclaimed, echoing around the room. I stood up, eyes roaming around the place once again.
"Oi, show yourself and fight me!"I found myself shouting back, hoping for any response to be able to locate the whereabouts of the voice.
"Seriously? Are you some kind of a warfreak?'"I heard the voice replied, a hint of amusement on her tone. I furrowed my brows, wiping my cheeks and mouth with the back of my hand when I felt something cold dripped on it but found no remnants of anything when I looked at it.
Looking down on my hand, I caught a sight of the table I'm eating at earlier.
Where are my food?!
"What? Hey, were you the one who stole my food?! Give it back you thief!"
"Thie--Geez! I guess water won't work huh? Well let me see if this does!" At the response, I suddenly felt something pinching me and found myself closing my eyes for a second because of the sting.
Suddenly, as if I am suddenly aware of my surroundings—the wind, the ruffling of leaves, the presence of someone near me—opened my eyes only to shield it with my arms because of the sudden light.
"Glad to know you're finally awake, Dragneel. Come on, were going to be late if we don't get moving..." I heard someone said followed by rustling. I guess she's fixing her things?
I sat up, groaning out of the sudden movement. I ruffled my already messy hair before proceeding to squint my eyes on my surroundings.
"Hey!" I tuned to looked at the gi--Oh, Lucy, who looked at me as if she's expecting me to do something. Not understanding what she's looking at me for, I shrugged at her and yawned.
When I heard no response from her, I glanced at her direction and laughed.
She was glaring at me, though I can already see from my place that her eyes were watery from yawning. I looked at her as if her yawning face is funny but honestly? Her fierce watery eyes looking at me, cheeks reddening and the way she was covering her mouth to prevent me from seeing her yawning, is cute! Wait on the second thought, why am I calling her cute?
"You! Didn't you know that yawning are contagious?! You could've have--"She stopped when she once again yawned and I could only chuckle at the glare she flashed on my way.
"You could've turn away or something!"
I raised my hands in an surrender-like manner, face amused at her reactions, "Sorry, can't help it. 'Sides isn't yawning a normal thing? Why d'ya seem to hate it?" I asked then stood up to stretch my arms a little.
Despite pretending that I was busy with my business, I kept my eyes on her reaction. I mean, I can't help it! She's just so expressive with what she feels and it was interesting to watch!
She slightly pouted, eyes turning away from me and looking at her right before answering," I just—I find it uncomfortable...Yawning by yourself is okay, since you already expect it but being affected by someone else's sucks! Your eyes get all watery, face scrunched up and sometimes, even my jaw hurts from opening my mouth too wide..." She frowned, scrunching her face up a little before glancing at me, who already finished with stretching and is only listening to what she's saying.
I nodded, agreeing with what she said. I suddenly remember that time where I was reprimanded of yawning during a class...I mean come on! We all know it's involuntary so I can't help it! Besides, how can I pretend that the lessons so interesting as she made it to be when it makes me sleepy instead of being 'inspired'?
"But enough of that! Come on!" She exclaimed, stomping outside our 'Hideout'.
I trailed after her, hands inside my pockets since I left my bag on the classroom.
No one talked as we trekked towards the main campus. It's silent but it's not uncomfortable. Usually, I would think of anything that we get to talk about but with her? I felt that is not needed. I felt like she's not the type of person who would want to force herself to talk just to prevent silence or awkwardness (not like there's any between us).
Being with her for a short while—Hell it isn't even a day yet!—I saw her as someone who would want things to come naturally and genuine. She's expressive, but that doesn't mean that she's sensitive and would be offended on whatever you tell her, even if it's pretty offensive on her part. I might consider her reactions interesting, but there's nothing that could top off her smile—which is a weird thing to say considering that I just met her and this is the first time I've felt connected to someone.
Anybody might have the same reaction as me when I first saw her curled up on a tree and cry, but I think that I'm the only one who felt attached to her even if this is the first time we met...Well, she already met me twice now but that's not the point! My point is, something is telling me that she'll gonna be a vital part of my life so I need to be close to her.
"Hey Natsu?" Her voice snapped me out of my thoughts and that's when I saw that she had stopped walking and is currently standing in front of me, wearing an embarassed expression on her face.
"Yeah?" I tilted my head to the side, waiting for her response. She flushed, fidgeted her fingers before clearing her throat, eyes determined about something I'm not aware of.
"I-I think I'm lost..." She mumbled out softly but i was still able to hear it.
Yup, so cute...
I gave her a smile, not teasing but out of fondness...How can you feel affection for someone you just only met? While I don't know the answer to that, I can't help but think that's what I'm feeling right now.
Similar to her flushed face, I felt mine heat up but I managed to hid it by burrowing myself on my scarf.
"Natsu?"
"O-Oh, right! Don't worry, I know the way!" And with that, I took ahold of her wrist and maneuvered her to the right direction.
"Why didn't you say so earlier?!" I heard her exclaimed and my earlier embarassment suddenly lessened as I looked back at her and grinned.
"It doesn't matter now! I'm here guiding us aren't I?"
"It does! Mwo, first day of school and I'll be marked as tardy!"
"Eh, who cares about that? I'm often late and marked as tardy but look I am? Nothing serious would happen, psh" I stated, before turning left. I can already hear the loud chatter of the students and this means that we're already near the main building.
"I care!"
"Well, you're a weirdo so I'm not surprised..." I stated, before stopping to look at her.
I chuckled at her pissed off expression.
"That doesn't make sense!"
"It does for me..."I replied, still grinning. I tuned out her angry rumbles to look at our surroundings.
Most of the students were already going to their classrooms but there are still some who aren't so I figured that the warning bell hasn't rung yet.
I turned to Lucy who crossed her arms over her chest, still glaring at me. It seems like she noticed I'm not listening to her anymore... I mused internally, not saying anything about it.Wouldn't want to add more reason for her annoyance.
"You'll get wrinkles at making those kind of faces y'know?" I laughed at her expression once again. Damn, my jaw hurts from smiling too much. Well...I looked at Lucy who is currently staring at her face on the mirror she have. I'm not really complaining...
LUCY
"Come on Luce! You don't wanna be late right?" Natsu suddenly exclaimed making me looked at him. I sighed, putting my mirror on my bag and nodded.
"Yeah, but since I'm still new here, I'm not familiar of which direction I should take..." I replied before letting out a small smile at his bright expression.
He suddenly bowed down and tipped his supposed-to-be hat before looking at me. His salmon finge framing his face and I suddenly had the urge to looked away because of how intense his eyes are.
"Well then, Natsu Dragneel at you service and I'm gonna be your tour guide!" He grinned widely and despite the effects of his smile that caused my face to flush once again, I went along with his antics.
"Kindly guide the way Mr. Tour Guide, I don't want to be late and be marked as tardy..."I stated, holding my skirt before dramatically curtsying at him.
He gave me an amused smile for going along his antics before offering his hand which I took.
The warning bell suddenly rang.
"Ready?"I heard him whispered and I don't why but somehow I understand what he meant by that.
"As I'll ever be..."I smiled, excited of what were doing.
Suddenly, I remember the breakdown I had earlier and my smile faltered a bit. Feeling something on my hand, I looked at my clasped wrist only to widen my eyes when I saw his hand adjusted to hold my hand.
I don't mind but...I looked at him curiously. He turned and let out his fanged grin which made my heart skip a bit.
All depressing thoughts from my mind since earlier vanished and was replaced with warmth. What is happening to me?!
NATSU
I held her hand before I chickened out from doing so. This is so new for me but I figured Im just gonna go with the flow.
I tightened my grip on her hand, but not tight enough that it'll leave a mark before running.
With her hand clasped in mine, I can't help to be excited of becoming her friend!
END OF CHAPTER 2
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Thank you Ushidi and rao hyuga18 for your review last chapter! I'm planning to upload chapter 3 soon enough but I don't have the exact date yet. As for my other story 'Perfect Two', it will be a long chapter but expect it soon enough!
As for this story, I really hope you liked it! Silent Scream will definitely get darker for the future chapters...but not now! I decided that I'm going to challenge myself with this story like how I am with writing 'Perfect Two' and I'm hoping for a good result out of it.
That's all, thank you for reading!
