A Spike in Eureka
Everyone at Café Diem went an unknown man walks into the Café. Vincent, the owner of the Café, goes near the man, but not out from behind the counter. "How can I help you, sir?" Vincent asked the man.
The man in question had white-blond hair slicked back. He also had a blood-red shirt, tight black jeans, black combat boots on his feet. He also had a long black coat that went down to his ankles. It looks like it was 30 years old by the looks of the style. He seems so out of place it was laughable.
The man turns his head to answer Vincent. That gave Vincent a better look at the man's face. He has stunning blue eyes, sharp cheekbones that look like they would cut right out of his face. He also has a scar on his left eyebrow that makes it so he can pull off the bad boy look he was sporting. "Yes, I am looking for Jack Carter." The man's voice was English. It was not what a lot of people were expecting him to have. Vincent replied, "Sheriff Carter is in the Sheriff's Office across the street." The man nodded his head at Vincent then he was out the door before anyone could stop him.
Nathen Stark gets up and barks at Fargo. "Fargo, get the feed from the Sheriff's Office up." Fargo squeaks, "yes, sir." Fargo goes over to the monitor in the corner of the Café. The video comes up. The audience in the café sees Sheriff Jack Carter working at his desk doing paperwork.
In the Sheriff's Office.
Jack hears the door open. He does not look up but says, "If the world is not at risk, go away." "Is that how you address all your guests?" From the voice, alone Jack's head shot up to look at the man in the doorway before jumping out of his set to all but run and hug the man in front of him. Jack wraps his arms around the man and yells, "Mama." The man moves his arms around Jack to pull him closer.
They finally pull away from each other. "What are you doing here, Mama?" Spike looks at his son. "I can't come and see my son, Jackson." "No, Mama, that is not what I meant. Most of the time, the only reason that you come in person and not call is that you are upset with us." Spike nods his head. "You are right. The reason why I am here is that you left your territory without my say-so. Why?" Jack walks back over to his desk. He sits down hard in his chair. "I'm sorry, Mama. I had no say in coming here. The bitch Allison Black told me that I had to come here." Jack slumps his shoulders a little in defeat. "Really. What agency does she work for?" Asked his Mama. "The DOD. She thought that I would do what she told me with the look on her face. I called her boss, but it did me no good. He would not help or listen to me at all. If I had gone by my real name, he might just have listened." Jack sounded so miserable.
His Mama hums as he thinks about what he has heard. "Very well, you can stay. I need someone here anyways. You would be able to watch the people here." "But Mama." Jack wined. "But nothing you should have called me when this happened. It could have stopped it. Also, what have I heard that you are 111 IQ?" Spike asked with a rasped eyebrow. "I needed something that makes me seem different from the other citizens here. I wanted to one out of the pack." Jack shrugged his shoulders as he did not care what others thought of him. "Jackson, you have the 4th highest IQ in the family. You used your age for your IQ, really, Jackson. You who has an IQ of 165. The only sons that bet you are William and Gabriel. And they both are very close to each other, and that is only because they are twins. Why must you downgrade yourself like that?" Spike then moves over to the chair in front of Jack's desk to sit down in exasperation. Spike could not think of a reason Jackson would dumb himself down like that.
Jack looks up at his mother. He was very nervous to say anything to this mother, let alone to the person himself, but he knew his mother would want to know. Jack opens his mouth to tell his mother why "my mate has a very high IQ. I wanted to stand out, not as someone who would see me as just the same as everyone he has to deal with every day." "Oh. How will be my future son in law?" His Mama asks. Jack pulls in a deep breath. To get center himself to tell his mother, his mate "Nathen Stark." Jack waits for the comments from his mother about his mate. His mother hums again." All right. Do you think he would have an open mind?" Jack shakes his head and says sadly. "No, I do not think that he would. Nathen is a man of science. He would need proof of what I am talking about?" Spike looks sadly at his son. "I could show him." NO." Jack yells. "You will do no such thing if the people here find out about you. They will want to test on you. I will not let that happen to you." "Very well, Jackson. If you need, call me at any time, and I will be here as soon as possible." Jack agrees "ok, Mama." They both stand up so that Jack can walk his Mama out. Jack hugs Spike before his mother walks out the door and into the night.
In Café Diem.
They could not believe what they had just seen. Nathen was shocked that Jack would think that he would not have an open mind to allow him to believe him. Know granted, he would need proof just like Jack had stated, but he would get there. His feelings have been growing for a while now about Jack. It has scared him because he had thought that Jack was straight. 'I may just have a chance after all.' Nathen thought.
On the other hand, Allison was pissed that she did not think Jack would talk about her that way. She knows knew that Jack would never be hers. 'I will get him some way.' She thought to herself.
The others in the café did not know what to think about their average IQ Sheriff was not as he portrayed himself to be. Most were ashamed of how they acted towards him when they found out he was average and not like them.
Fargo was the only one who picked up that Jack called the man his mother. "Why did the Sheriff call him his mother? That person was male, right?" There was a pregnant pass in the Café after Fargo said that.
The next thing anyone knew, Dr. Stark was out the door on his way to the Sheriff's Office….
The Maybe End…
