My RWBY Academia Chapter 7
Welcome to UA
Soon it was April, time for the first day of school, Ruby was already in the car with her sister and Uncle Qrow while Summer and Tai wished her luck.
Ruby wanted to offer Izuku a lift but the boy said it was fine he had some last minute things to get ready so to go on ahead. She was brought out of her thoughts with her dad asking "and you sure you have everything Ruby?"
"Yes dad, I have everything, don't worry" Ruby said nodding
"Good, now do your best and try not let the fact the teachers are well known Pro's distract from your studies and Yang don't embaress your sister" Summer told them.
"Yes mom" The two girls said nodding understanding
"Don't worry, I will make sure they behave" Qrow said and starts the car and drives off heading to the school.
Once arriving Qrow dropped Ruby and Yang off by the gate entrance while he went to park up. Ruby looked on in amazement as this time she was walking into this building as a student
"Hard to believe the acceptance was just as small, outside those on recommendations 44 got in though the exams." Yang said rubbing her head. "By the way, which class did you get assigned to."
"Oh, it's Class 1-A" Ruby said remembering what was told in the letter that assigned her class
"Well best get there so you not late" Yang said and gave directions to it.
Ruby nods and runs into the building and looks for her class. She looks for her class number doing her best to recall her sisters directions to the class room. She soon finds the really huge door.
"Wow….it's huge..." Crystal said amazed and gulps "Alright, let's go" She opens the door and walks in and sees several of her classmates already in there.
The ones in there she recognised was the boy in glasses, Crystal and the pink girl she talked to.
"Oh, hey Ruby" Crystal said approching with the pink skinned girl
"Oh hey Crystal, listen thanks by the way" Ruby said smiling
"Huh? For what exactly?" The purple haired girl asked confused "Oh, by the way this is my friend from my school Mina Ashido"
"Nice to meet you, you must be the girl Crystal been talking about the last few weeks" Mina said shaking Ruby's hand
"Oh really?" Ruby asked surprised while Crystal blushed
"Oh, not that often" Crystal said embaressed
"Out of the way petals!" a familiar voice said and Ruby turns annoyed as in enters Bakugo with the same annoyed look.
"Oh, hello Bakugo, so good to be your classmate" Ruby said sarcastically
"Whatever, least during this we can finally settle which of us is better, and I know it's me" He bragged as he goes and sits on his assigned seat.
"Well he is just as charming as ever" Oscar said entering
"Hey Oscar" Ruby said smiling "Did you get here okay?"
"Yeah, my aunt gave me a ride" Oscar said nodding He looks and sees his seat is next to a student with a bird head "Err...hello"
The classmate had his eyes closed and opens one eye then simple said "Hello" and closed his eye again
"Alright then" Oscar said sweatdropping
As people were talking the door opens and everyone looks and in walks in Penny, people went silent as they knew who was was but they didn't know she was assgined to this class
Penny smiles waving "Salutations, it is nice to meet you all."
Ruby approaches and offers her hand "Hello Penny, my name is Ruby Rose. It is nice to meet you"
"Ruby Rose, I will log that into my permanent memory and it is an honour to meet the daughter of White Thorn" Penny said smiling
"You know my mother?" Ruby asked surprised
"Of course, I have extended memory of all current active Pro-Heroes" Penny said nodding
"Wow…." Ruby said amazed
"Looks like she is making friends with the robot girl" Mina said smiling as she talked with Crystal
"Yeah, well probably best that we try to connect with Atlas propaganda girl" Crystal said shrugging, she didn't trust Atlas but she wasn't going to punish Penny for that,
Just then an argument happened between Bakugo and the boy with the glasses. Crystal walks over just as Bakugo threatened the boy who introduced himself as Tenya Ida.
"Relax Ida, I am sure this guy didn't mean it, though if he did he knows that would reflect badly" Crystal said
"Hey! Shut up purple hair!" Bakugo said annoyed
"I can't believe you respond like this to a simple critique! You must defiantly be in the wrong place" Ida said shocked. Just then they look to the door and see Midorya there standing awkwardly "It's him"
Everyone in the class turns to see Izuku who was awkwardly put on the spot. Ruby and Penny were close by and the robot girl said "Oh hello there"
Izuku awkwardly nervous said "uhhh hi!"
"Good morning!" Ida said walking over to him "My name is Tenya Ida from the…."
"Y-Yeah I know…." Izuku said stopping him
"If I am honest everyone here would have overheard your little spat with Bakugo" Crystal said walking up
"A-Anyway...I am Izuku Midorya...It is nice to meet you" Izuku said smiling
"Midorya, you realized there was something more to the pratical exam didn't you?" Ida said surprising the others "You must be very perceptive and I completely misjudged you. I admit as a student you're far superior to me"
"I wouldn't go that far, but I am glad you apologised how you treated him in the exam" Ruby said happy that Ida in his own way apologised for berating Izuku.
"I am unsure on how he would know the Rescue conditions but that was amazing what I saw" Crystal said nodding.
"Hey I recognize that messed up hair, falling boy!" A voice said and the group look to see it was the girl who Ruby, Crystal and Izuku helped save from the zero pointer robot. She was praising Izuku's amazing punch.
"Hey, glad to see you are okay" Ruby said to her
"Oh hello there, I didn't really get a proper way to thank you for helping me get unstuck" The girl said with a smile
"It is alright, a lot was going on" Ruby said nodding
Oscar looks and sees Bakugo glaring, he could only guess what was going on through that boys head but it wasn't anything nice he thought
"Oh, what do you all think orientation is going to be like? I wonder what our teachers are like, I can't wait to meet everybody!" The girl said excited.
"I am eager to find out too" Penny said with a smile on her face.
"If you just here to make friends you can pack up your stuff now." A voice said and the group looked shocked seeing a man lying in a hallway in a sleeping bag "Welcome to UA's Hero course" He said unzip the sleeping bag and drinks a Caprison like drink (I fail to know the actual name of them)
The gathered group of five look on disturbed and all had the same thought 'What is that thing?!'
The man stands up and as he gets out of the sleeping bag said "It took eight seconds for you all to shut up, that's not going to work. Time is precious, rational students would understand that."
Ruby looking at the man confused thought 'Why do I feel I know this guy? I know he is a Pro but he doesn't look like one, then again uncle Qrow doesn't look much like one either.'
The man looks at the class and said "Hello I'm Shota Aizawa, your teacher"
'Wait seriously?! Our teacher?!' Ruby thought in surprise hearing that
Aizawa then reaches into his sleeping bag and pulls out a UA Gym uniform "Right let's get too it, put these on and head outside" He instructed
"Errr….were you seriously sleeping that with them" Crystal asked sweat dropping
"Lets not question it" Penny said also sweat dropping.
We come to Qrow walking into the school's staff room. He looks and sees All-Might by himself looking through a book. He goes over too him
"Hey All-Might, catching up on some early reading?" Qrow asked him
"Oh, Qrow kind off, just checking who the other teachers for the first years are along with me" All-Might said nodding
"More like you are seeing who the lucky Home Room Teacher is teaching that kid Midorya right?" Qrow said smiling "A kid who my niece has been know to not have a quirk but suddenly now has one, that was a surprise I will say" He sips some coffee
"Yeah I guess so, want to make sure he at least pulled the right home teacher as you and I both know life will be hell if you get the wrong one" All-Might said and Qrow nods understanding that to be true.
We then cut to outside with Class 1-A in there Gym uniforms with Aizowa and also the large man in a green outfit with a bit of a bear motiff to it and Aizowa has explained what they were doing
"A Quirk assesment test?!" The entire class said in unison
"But Orintation, we're going to miss it" The brown haired girl said concerned
"If you really want to make the big leagues you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies" Aizowa said in response shocking the class, "Here at UA we're not tethered to traditions, that means I get to run my class how I see fit."
"Not entirely, you need my permission to use the equipment need for this Aizowa" The man said
"I know and I thank you for agreeing to help me with this Hazel" Aizowa said nodding
"Oh my, that is Hazel, aka Ursa Major, the hero who is numb to any pain for a long time and..." Ruby said amazed
"Quiet!" Aizowa said shutting her up "You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives." He holds up his phone who a list of 8 training exercises "But you never got you use your quirks in physical exams before."
"The country is still trying to pretend we're all created equal and not letting those with the most power excel" Hazel explained further "It isn't rational, one day the Ministry of Education will learn"
Aizowa nods and looks to Bakugo "Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam what was your farthest distance throw with a softball in junior high?"
"67 Metres I think" Bakugo said
"Right, try doing it with your quirk" Aizowa instructed and leads him to the throwing area "Anything goes just stay in the circle"
"Oh this is going to make that ego of his bigger" Ruby said sighing
"Yeah I can see that" Oscar said nodding
"Go on, you're wasting time" Hazel said handing him ball
"Alright you asked for it" Bakugo said stretching, he then rears back and hurls it with a large explosion hurling it into the air
"Wow..." Crystal said shocked at that
"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities." Aizowa said as the ball lands "It's the most rational way to figure out your portential as a Pro-Hero" He adds showing the recorded distance that read 705.2m which shocked the class
"Wow, 705 metres are you kidding me?" The boy with the electic like hair said
"That was good, but I am curious, Miss Polendina, why not show us what you're capable of." Hazel suggest
"I guess so." Penny said and takes the spot on the circle she rears her arm and throws it with much force if hurls off into the distance and lands on the roof of a far building, the recording reads 1256.5M
This shocked the class even more, even Bakugo looked stunned at the severe distance. Penny giggles and said "Yeah….I was only using 10% of my core's power as I wanted to be fair"
"Seriously?! That was only 10%?!" The boy with red hair said shocked
"Ohhhh, I want a go, it looks like fun" Mina said excited
"Yeah me too" Ruby said happy
"This is what I'm talking about, using our quirks as much as we want!" The back haired boy with odd arms said
"So this looks fun huh?" Aizowa asked getting the classes attention "You have three years here to become a hero, you think it's all going to be games and play time?" He smirks "Idiots, today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none and will be expelled immediately" This shocks the class
Back in the staff room All-Might slaps his forehead and said "Aw crap he got Aizowa! Midorya is going to be singled out from the start"
"Yeah, I do recall he wasn't too impressed with how the judge panel voted when they gave him his Rescue score" Qrow said nodding.
'Oh man, immediate expulsion with only eight tests….this is bad I know me and Oscar can probably do enough to not come in last but...Izuku, he doesn't have control of his quirk yet….But there is nothing I can do' Ruby thought feeling helpless
"Like I said I decide how this class runs." Aizowa said and lifts up his hair to show both his eyes "Understand, if that's a problem you can head home right now."
"Penny, given your unique capabilities ATLAS has told us, me and Aizowa will allow you to take part in this test but you will be exempt from the contest provided you stick to only using 10% of your core" Hazel points out
"Understood" Penny said nodding.
"For the rest of you bring your A-game" Hazel said folding his arms.
"You can't send one of us home!" Crystal calls out "We only just got here!"
"That's right!" The Zero G girl said "After all even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!"
"Oh and you think natural disasters are?" Aizowa asked her "Or power hungry villains? Or catastrophic disasters that wipe out whole cities? No! The world is full of unfairness"
"Indeed, which is why it's a hero's job to combat that unfairness. If you want to be a pro you will have to push yourself to the brink" Hazel told them
"I see" Crystal said nodding
"For the next three years UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you" Aizowa told them "So go beyond, Plus Ultra style." He motions the class to come over "Show me it's no mistake you're here"
Oscar takes a deep breath and calms himself 'This is intense, but I made it this far and I am not going to let my aunt down with getting sent home on the first day. I have to do it'
'Alright then, time to show this guy what the daughter of White Thron can do' Ruby thought nodding
"Alright, we're wasting time by talking, let the games begin" Aizowa said smiling.
First day and already there is a severe threat of being kicked out. Time to dig deep and go beyond.
