Authors Note: Hey, I am planning on updating every Wednesday. This chapter has some Destiel, so if you don't like it, I'm sorry. Again disclaimer I do not own anything.

Both Winchester's glance at each other, not knowing how to respond to the teen. "Are you sure? You can't go back once it's done." Sam made sure to get through to Ben that wiping someone's memory is permanent and you can't go back and forth on it, the kid has to be sure. "Yes, do it" with no other words being said, Dean nodded and held Ben closer.

"Ben…"

"I want to get out of here as soon as possible. You can't convince me to stay any longer when I already waited long enough." The teen was running around and filling a small brown duffel bag sitting on his bed. Dean watched as Ben started to stuff clothes and other essentials into the bag, and he felt a wave of deja vu hit him.

"Sam, you can't-"

"Watch me, Dean! I am sick and tired of this life! I can't get friends, I'm known as the freaking freak! Do you know how it feels? No, you don't because you are always the bad boy, the cool kid that everybody falls for. I hate sitting here waiting for one unlucky hunt, that dad will come home and tell me that you are dead! Or maybe both of you die! I don't know! I want to finally be normal, to only have to worry about my grades and decide what to wear to go on a date! Don't worry about the things under my bed! I want out, so I'm getting out!"

Dean watched helplessly as his brother packed to leave.

The only difference is that Dean is the one that Ben wants, but the older Winchester can only think about how Ben is leaving his only family behind. But Dean knew that he had to let the kid choose what he wanted. "You guys can sneak out the front door. I'll meet you out there" both of the brothers took one last glance at Ben and went their way to the Impala.

When Ben began to make his way to the door, he saw his mom coming from the living room to meet him. "Where are you going?" The question was filled with worry but Ben can hear the but to it. "I'm going to Jakes, spending what little of the break I have left with him." Ben continued to make his way to the door when Lisa spoke up again "how long are you going to be gone?" By this point his mom had her arms crossed but you could tell that her worry was getting the best of her, "I don't know! Probably 3-4 days." He found that the lies rolled off his tongue easily. "Ok, be safe" her voice got nice and gentle. "Okay, I love you." Am I ready to do this! What am I even doing! I'm going to leave my mom! He felt his hand grip around the doorknob and pull it open. He looked around the house one more time and realized that he was ready to let go of this part of his life.

"You ready kid?" Dean asked as the 17-year-old got in the back. When Dean looked in the rearview mirror he saw a look of awe on the kids' faces he looked around the car. "You okay, Ben?" He said with a smile. "I've never been in here, I've only seen it when it was in the garage and even then…it's awesome" the brothers chuckled as Dean turned baby on and let the loud rumble set in. "Where are we going exactly?" Ben quipped. Sam looked at Dean then answered, "we are going to Lebanon, Kansas" "what's there?"

"Ummmm it's where we live"

"You live somewhere? I thought you moved around a lot"

"We used to until we found this underground bunker that is safe from any supernatural beings"

Silence filled the car as Ben looked awestruck once again

"You mean to tell me that not only did you find somewhere to live. But IT'S AN UNDERGROUND BASE!" The older Winchester bursts out laughing, "that's what I said!"

Laughs filled the Impala while they got on the long stretch of road to Kansas.

Yeah, I made the right choice, Ben found himself thinking.

Castiel POV

"Jake, when did Dean say he would be back?" The angel strolled into the library, where Jack was reading a random lure book, "uhhhh, I think he said he would be back in 3 days. Now thinking about it, he should have been back yesterday." Jack looked up at Cas and saw the worry echoed in his face, "I mean… he should be back today" the Nephilim quickly changed what he was saying when Castiel's worried look got worse. "Are you sure?" Jack noticed when the angel started to pace around the room, "Cas, I think they are fine. I mean I haven't seen many hunters but from what I've seen, they are one of the best. A little salt n' burn would take them down'' Castiel listened to Jack's words and stopped pacing, "you're right, I mean if they were in deep trouble then Dean would surely pray to me, right?" The Nephilim nodded and went to his book. "I think that they are probably on their way back right now" Castiel took a seat across from Jack and decided to wait till the brothers got back.

"Okay Ben, we are here" Dean announced as everyone got out of the car. "In an abandoned factory?"

"Don't pay attention too close to that. Grab your stuff and let's get you situated" Dean went to the trunk and threw Sam his duffle and when he was reaching for his, he saw the date on his watch, "oh no…" Ben and Sam immediately looked at Dean, "what?!"

"It's the 17th"

"Yeah…and?"

"I said we would be back by the 15th"

Dean waited for Sam to connect the dots and seconds later Sam started to smile, "ohhhhh"

"He's gonna kill me.."

"Be more positive! I'm sure he won't be freaking out that much, it's only one day"

"I'm so screwed..: have you met the guy, Sam? He's freaking crazy! I was 4 minutes late for a grocery run and he nearly zapped me out of existence!"

Sam chuckled, "but ya still married him"

With a small growth, the 3 men made their way to the door.

When Ben walked through the 2 metal doors he was immediately dumbfounded, the foot led to a staircase overlooking a huge room full of maps, connecting to this room he saw a library and 2 side entryways. "Holy cra-"

"DEAN!" All three of them flinched at the loud voice echoing through the walls. Dean looked pleadingly at Sam, "just say I died on the case!"

"You know that won't work, he would March right into heaven himself and drag you down."

Almost right after saying that Dean was attacked by a face full of a tab trench coat, "WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL! I WAS WAITING HERE THINKING THAT YOU DIED! AND THE NEXT YOU STROLL ALL IN, no "I'm ALIVE AND MIGHT BE LATE- wait…. Is this Ben?" Dean took a minute to digest Cas' emotional outburst.

"Uhhhh, yeah. He got his memory back, and he refused to leave me." But before Cas could respond Dean continued, "Can we talk in the kitchen?" The angel slowly nodded and the oldest brother gave a nod to Sam to let him know to continue leading Ben around the Bunker. "Why are they leaving? Is it because I'm not supposed to be here?" The kid started to silently freak out, feeling the anxiety skyrocket. "No, it's not because of you." Sam was quick to reassure Ben when he saw the kid start to freak out. "Dean just went to catch Cas on what happened. And tell him that he needs to visit your mother to...you know…" Ben only nodded. "Come on, let me show you around.'' The pair made their way down the stairs and into the living room, "This is the library, it has books on almost every supernatural being or legend. Also, there are some other random books for fun reading." The Youngest Winchester watched as Ben looked at the piles of books surrounding the walls.

"Why didn't I see you at all when Dean spent the year with me and my mom?" Sam grimaced but continued to lead through the large halls after the doors from the library. "That's kinda complicated and a very long story." Ben stayed silent for a second, "We have time" The Winchester knew that the kid had an innocent intention but Sam didn't like to look back on that time. "How much do you know about our life?" Ben only shrugged, "Dean wasn't so open about that. But from what I could gather is that you guys are hunters, you guys go all over the Country and kill monsters and save lives." Sam smiled at the last part. When you have their lives they often forget that they save people along with killing monsters. Their pain and their loss cloud the little good they do and it makes them focus on who died and what they could stop. "That's correct. But living that life, you lose a lot. It leaves you hurt and sometimes broken, like how Dean lost you and Lisa. Before Dean went to Lisa and you, there was a big war between heaven and Lucifer.-"

"You mean the devil, Lucifer?"

"Yup. Long story short, I was possessed by Lucifer and the archangel Michael who wanted to have a global fight that would probably wipe out half the world's population. But if they didn't fight then Lucifer would destroy the whole world. Dean, Cas, and I were stuck in a corner. Either kill half the world or all of it, but to make it more confusing we had to look at the consequences if either of them won. Michael would rule the world, but Lucifer would wipe out the whole human race. It was a lose-lose situation. Right, when they were going to begin the fight Dean came riding on like it was the last stand. And in a way it was." Sam looked down at Ben, gaging if this is going to be too much for the kid to understand. "What happened?" The youngest Winchester looked down the hall and continued, "Lucifer was not happy. He started to beat Dean into a pulp. And I couldn't help but watch helplessly as I saw Lucifer use my hands to slowly beat the life out of my brother. Using that feeling of helplessness and anger, I managed to get control of my body long enough for me to open the cage to hell. Before I jumped in, Michael tried to stop me but I drug him down with me. I left Dean alone, while I was in hell with the devil and the most powerful archangel." After Sam finished, silence filled the halls as the kid took everything in.

"How did you get back?" Sam smiled at the 17-year-old's curiosity, "That is a story for next time, Right here is my room, and down the hall in the kitchen. And back where we passed is Castiel's old room, and Jacks-" The youngest Winchester freeze in the realization that Ben doesn't know the Nephilim, "Who's Jack?"

"Ummmm- '' before Sam got to organize his thoughts the Nephilim came down the hall toward them. "Sam! You made it back" Ben turned around at the sudden foreign voice. "Oh hi, I'm Jack. and you are?" the Nephilim stuck his hand out for Ben to accept. The 17-year-old nervously shook the outstretched hand, "Uhhh, I'm Ben." Ben looked toward Sam with confusion seeking answers. The youngest Winchester gratefully introduced them further, "Jack this is Ben, Dean's adopted son from a while ago, we had to erase his memory of Dean so he could have a normal life but as you could see here, he remembered. Ben is Jack, he is also an adopted son that we brought in.`` Both of the boys awkwardly waved at each other. "Nice to meet you, Ben. I was just on my way to see where Dean and Cas are." Sam shook his head, "Uhh, right now they are probably talking in the kitchen, I'll go see how it is going. Jack, how about which room he wants to claim." "I'll be ok with that" Sam left in the kitchen.

"What do you mean he remembered?" Cas says in a hurried, hushed voice. "I don't know! He called me when we were on the hunt and I panicked. Cas- I don't know what to do! He wouldn't let me go, I mean the kid was having a freaking panic attack when I got to his house! He looked at me like if I walked out then his whole life would crash and burn, I physically could turn away from him. I was thinking of calling you but- I DON'T KNOW! Tell me what to do. I thought I walked away from that, it freaking broke me, and staring at the kid makes my heart hurt because I can't go back to the man he knew me as. He wants a dad and I can't be that for him, I am the farthest thing from a dad that you can get! And- and-" Cas could tell that he was starting to panic and quickly brought him into a hug, "Hey, hey, it's okay. You let him choose instead of forcing him, that's good. You did well. Hey, hey look at me" Dean looked at Castiel's blue eyes with tears in his eyes. "There you go. Don't degrade your worthiness. I know for a fact that you are a great father, I mean look at Jack-"

"I TRIED KILLING HIM!"

"But ever since then you have tried, and tried so hard to put him first. That kid sees that you would do anything for him. You have done nothing but try to gain his forgiveness since that incident, and even then I saw that fate and any other cosmic being was working against you, trying to make you kill Jack-" Dean laid his head on the angel's shoulder, shaking his head.

"Don't make excuses for me Cast… That was my own choice, I held the gun, I freaking flicked the safety off and held it to his head. That was me! I was just so-so. How can you even be in the same room as the person that almost killed your kid? Gosh, I messed up so bad… I'm just like my dad…. Oh my gosh, I'm just like John." Cas decides quickly to stop the way Dean's head is going.

"NO, Stop it. Stop it right now Dean. You are nothing like your father. John was a poor excuse for a dad. He did so much damage to you and your brother that even you don't realize. Yes, you messed up a couple of times with Jack, but you are sorry and you are still trying to do better. Heck! Jack thinks of you as his father! Every parent makes mistakes. But John did not just make mistakes, he hurt you in ways that not even your worst enemy can do." By then Cas was holding the back of Dean's neck, playing with the small hairs that lead to his head. The oldest hunter let his head touch his boyfriend's forehead so that they were touching. Dean started to get teary-eyed again, letting the emotional wall fall just a little so that he gets whatever comfort he can from Cas. "I don't want to lose him. He never knew his dad, I don't want him to have the same childhood like me, he deserves so much" Cas lets a sad smile touched his lips, "If Ben wants you. I can guarantee that you will give that child anything he wants. You are an incredible man Dean, you will not lose him." Dean lets himself fall back into Castiel's embrace, just accepting the warmth he has spent his whole life rejecting.

"He asked me to wipe Lisa's memory of him." It was quiet but the angel heard loud and clear, he only nodded and let his hands run through Dean's hair, "Okay, I can do that" the quietness settled into the room once again, not uncomfortable but a safe and calming silence.

"He also called me dad… I have always wondered if he was mine, but Lisa told me multiple times that Ben is not mine." Cas knew where this was headed, "Do you want to know?" Dean shakes his head, "No… it would be too hard. If he was mine then I unknowingly abandoned him, more than once for that matter. And if he wasn't mine then I stole Lisa's kid from her." Cas couldn't say anything to that, he didn't know what to say.

"When should I go visit her?" the older hunter shrugged, "Probably now. The more time passes the more she would worry and probably call the cops." One small nod and cas hugged the hunter closer, placing a small kiss on Dean's head.

"Hey, guys." Sam barged in and the pair quickly looked up, Castiel's arms never left the Hunters east. "Uhhhh, sorry." The youngest Winchester was heading back out of the kitchen when Dean called him back in, "How is Ben doing?" Sam shrugged and went to the fridge and grabbed 3 beers, "He is currently with Jack, picking out his room. When are you guys headed to Lisa's?" The angel decided to answer this one, "We were thinking the sooner the better, so right now? Would probably work." The youngest brother nodded, "Are you both going?" The angel looked at Dean, "Yeah, if that's okay" Dean nodes and in a flash, he and Cas vanished.

"Okay, we have 4 hallways filled with rooms. There are-" Jack was going to list the many room destinations but was cut off by Ben, "Where is Dean's room?" the Nephilim looks at Jack in confusion but he slowly brushes that off, "he right down. Annnnnddddd….. Right here. Room 126" Ben looks at Jack, "Is there any rooms open that are close to here?" Jack looks around and smiles, "Yup right here, right next to him" with that Jack swings the door open and lets Ben walk in to inspect the empty room with a singular bed and desk. "Thank you, I appreciate that. And if it's no problem I would like this room." Jack nodes and joins Ben into the room. The 17-year-old looked at the Nephilim in confusion as he took a seat at the desk, "How old are you?" Ben asks Jack with curiosity, "Oh, well physically I am around 17." Ben smiles at the weirdly phrased answer, "So am I!" Ben sits on his bed facing Jack. "Well, then you have to know some video games." The kid watches as Jack tilts his head in confusion, "what?" Ben looks at Jack in pure shock, "Don't tell me you haven't played any video games, man." the 17-year-old looks in disbelief as the Nephilim looks at him with more confusion.

"Come on! Call of Duty? Halo? Heck, I'll accept Fortnight!" when Jack only shakes his head, Ben jumps to his feet, "Well I can't let this stand! Do you know where a TV is?" the Nephilim stands up and answers, there is one in the 'Dean Cave'``Ben bursts out laughing, "Of course, come with me!" Ben starts to make his way back to the war room from where he remembered. He ran out and got his duffle and ran back to see Jack's confused face. "Lead me to the Dean Cave!" Ben saw Jack let a smile play on his face, "Okay, this way." Both of the teenagers ran through the halls, quickly making their way to the biggest theatre room Ben has ever seen. "Wow, this is impressive. '' Both of the boys made their way to the couch and chairs that surround the TV. Ben quickly puts an unknown disk into the council as Jack watches in interest. As the TV turned on, the 17-year-old got up and threw one controller at Jack, and sat on the opposite side of the couch as the Nephilim. "Okay, because this is the first video game you have ever played, I will tell you the buttons and what they do." Ben directed Jack's attention to the TV as the game loaded, "So we are going to play Call of Duty, one of the best games ever existed, don't let anyone tell you differently." As the game started, Ben taught the Nephilim how to press the buttons and what to do with them. It wasn't long after that Jack started to get the hang of the complicated objectives and the boys started yelling and cheering at the TV.

Jack started to feel the overbearing responsibilities that were forced upon him start to disappear, and Ben started to feel like the start of one of his closest friendships forming. Jack found the chance to be a kid and Ben found another reason to stay with Dean and he knew that leaving was the correct choice. "You know where they put the snacks?" Ben asked Jack right in the middle of a round, both concentrating on the game as the clicks of the controllers filled the room, "it should be in the cabinet behind the couch" When Jack finished, Ben paused the game and grabbed the 2 bags of chips from the cabinet and threw one at Jack. "Here, it's fuel. It will help you concentrate." Jack looks at Ben in confusion, "That logic doesn't make sense, how do chips help with shooting in a game?" Ben starts to laugh, "You're such an odd dude, just try it, trust me." Jack nods and they both open the chips as Ben un-pauses the game.

Both Dean and Cas make their way up to the house and softly knock on the door. When Lisa answered Dean felt a sense of Deja vu that he did not like. "Hi, are you Lisa?" Dean couldn't help but feel grateful that Cas decided to speak, because he felt like all the words left him. "Yes, who's asking?" Cas shrugs and Dean was able to find his voice again, "Oh, we just moved in and we wanted to meet the neighbors, can we come in?" Lisa opened the door wide enough for the two hunters to walk in then she shut it. "Sure, have a seat. Do you want some water or anything?" Both Cas and Dean shook their heads. As Dean took in the familiar living room, he saw old and new pictures hanging on the fireplace. He pointed to one that looked recent with Lisa, Ben, and a strange man. "Who is that?" Lisa looked at where Dean was pointing, "Oh, the kid is Ben, he is mine. But the man is my new boyfriend, his name is Zane." Dean could tell why Ben didn't like this boyfriend, he just gave off the douchebag look.

"Is Ben a good kid?" Dean knew that this was just hurting him more, knowing that he is going to take away the memory of her kid. He knew that he should probably take her memory away and get it over with, but something in his head won't let that happen. He could feel Cas look at him sympathetically, the stupid angel knew that this was hurting him. "He's the most perfect kid anyone could ask for, he cares so much. Poor kid, it's both a strength and a weakness. His father had the same problem." Dean's head snaps toward her, "His father? Where is his father?" he could feel that Cas was going to make a move to stop the conversation. "He left, he didn't even know I was pregnant. I didn't want to tell him either, but I knew he would make the best father for Ben. I don't remember much of him, I don't even remember what he looks like, but I knew that if he ever came back then I wouldn't hesitate to try to get him back." Dean felt his mouth go dry, she couldn't have meant him, right? "How much do you love Ben?" "Dean-" "Oh it's okay. I would give my life for him. If he wasn't in my life then I know that it would be worse than death."

Dean felt himself go lightheaded, was he going to do this? Cas troke his thoughts, "Then Ben is lucky to have a mother that loves him dearly." Lisa smiled warmly and nodded. Castiel slowly gets up and Dean follows, "We better get on our way, lots of unpacking, you know?" Dean knows what that means, why does this have to be hard? She gets up from the chair, "Well I hope that your new house treats you well." When she stretched her hand for a handshake, Cas shook her hand and quickly used the other hand to touch her head. Dean watches as her body falls limp in his boyfriend's arms. "Are you ready?" The older hunter doesn't find the voice so he just nods, "Okay" Dean watches as Cas moves his hand to both sides of her head, and a warm blue glow materializes out of the angel's hands. "We better get anything remaining of Ben out of here"

Dean mechanically moves through the house removing anything of Ben's or anything with Ben away. This was the right choice, but that doesn't remove the hurt deep in his chest. He knows it will pass and he knows Lisa will move on. He's just so done making the wrong decision that he can't help but let his mind wander.

"Sam! We're back!" When Dean and Cas materialize back to the bunker they notice that there is a half-drunk beer and an uncomfortable silence filled the bunker until…

"HOW DID THAT COUNT! HE WAS SO FAR OFF" both Dean and Cas ran to the yelling and laughing that was coming from the Dean cave. Once they opened the door they saw Sam sitting on the chair to the left of the TV and Ben and Jack spread out on the couch. When Dean let his vision look to the TV he saw Call of Duty on all three of them with controllers. "Just face it, Sam, you're terrible with dodging bullets." Ben sat on the couch as Dean watched Ben and Jack cream Sam. "Come on Sam, don't let some teenagers beat you. Show them who's boss." Sam whips his head around to face Dean, "You know what Mr. "Do it better." Let's see what you can do." Cas immediately starts to giggle at Sam's challenge, knowing full well that Dean will probably take that challenge to a whole nother level. "Ok, how about we team up against these kids? Teach them that they don't challenge your superiors." Sam nods as Dean grabs the spare controller and sits in the middle of Ben and Jack, who is at this point laughing, "At the end of this, you will be begging for mercy old man!" Ben laughs at Dean's offended expression. "Start the game before I show you old man, kid" even though it was phrased as a threat Ben laughed even harder, as Jack joined him.

Cas makes his way to the chair to the right of the TV, to watch his boyfriend, friend, son, and soon-to-be son start to make empty threats and have a great time spending the peaceful evening together. The angel started to smile as Dean started to yell at every kill that Ben and Jack got, and watched as Jack and Ben insult the "Old man team". If someone had told him everything he would ever experience, from starting the apocalypse, leviathans, or anything bad he has ever witnessed, but told him that this is where he would end up then he would take all that bad just to get to this point in his life. With the people that truly love him, with a family that loves him.

Ben looked around as he and Jack won the 5th battle in a row, and he knew that he made the right choice, this is truly his family.

Jack thought back at his life so far, he knew that he would never trade this broken family for anything in the world.

Even though Dean was getting his butt handed to him, he knew that this mixed, broken family is the best that he has ever had, and it wasn't till then that he knew that this is how things are supposed to be.

Sam saw the smiles and laughed around the room and knew that even though there were bound to be bad things that will happen, he knows that it's times like these that are worth fighting for.
