Izuku watched his brother with his mouth agape. When? Since when did Toji become a gambler? He thought he had known the male well enough throughout their years of growing up together. But this? Oh, no. Did mom even know!? Of course, she didn't. She didn't know that one of her kids would be gambling away his allowance in predictions on televised hero fights?!
He swallowed the dry lump of the air lodged between his throat, nudging at Toji. The older turned to him.
"Hm? Oh right, you might be hungry. Here. Buy some food from the nearby convenience store for you and me. I got to see if I cash in this time."
It only made Izuku mentally wail at his brother. 'Why!? Why the fuck are you doing this!? Oh, my fucking world!' He kept on metally berating Toji as he walked by to a Lawson's. He sighed and grabbed tuna-filled rice balls, water, and then some fried chicken. Was it the healthiest? Fuck no, but curse Toji for making him stress eat.
He stopped as he frowned. Since when did he start stress eating? He wasn't too sure, but it was probably around when Bakugo and Toji started to fight one another. His hell on earth.
He had recently found out he had grey hairs, letting out the loudest shriek. Izuku Midoriya. Age 14, grey hair, and in his second year of middle school. Now was one of those moments he wished he could turn back time and threaten his younger self. 'No. Don't get near him. He'll be the biggest ass in your life. You'll end up regretting it despite how good of a brother he is.'
While in truth, Toji was a good brother. He was also an asshole. Worse than Bakugo. His arrogance was in so many pegs higher than Katsuki, yet he could fucking prove it with strength. Sure Izuku was doing well, but he was jealous.
Toji's fucking growth spurt, his muscles, the air of confidence, the popularity he got. He had so much what he wanted. It reminded him so much that it's why he looked up to him. Yet, he also despised it.
Izuku let out a heavy sigh as he placed the money on the tray, waiting for the cashier to hand him his change and receipt. By the time he was back out, the fight had ended. Toji was waiting for him, jogging to him with his same usual stoic expression.
"Did you win your bet?"
He only smirked as he showed the wad of a hundred thousand yen in his hands.
"Does this mean at least something? Damn, I'm getting lucky. My bad streak fucking broke. Guess I should bring you more often."
"Not a good idea. Mom's going to kill us when she finds out we skipped school."
"You maybe, I'm used to doing this shit."
"What? Toji, how long you've been gambling?"
"Why does it matter?"
"Just answer the fuckin question."
Toji scoffed as he grabbed a Jule, inhaling it before he exhaled, staring right into Izuku's eyes.
"Probably around the third allowance I got."
"That was four years ago!? You've been gambling since then!? Stop smoking too! It's bad for you!? GAH! I have fucking grey hairs. BECAUSE OF YOU! Fucking hell, Toji!"
"Bro, like just chill."
"Chill!? JUST CHILL!? Mom is going to murder you! Why do you think Bakugo is terrified of her? I- May you pray for a painless death."
That is all, Izuku said before he handed Toji the bag, after grabbing his food and headed back home. He rubbed his face with his hand, feeling his blood pressure spiked from their conversation.
Izuku wanted to cry more than ever from the stress. How!? He stooped and turned to Toji, the older a few steps behind him, soon stopped as he looked inquisitively to Izuku. He exhaled as smoke left his lips.
"What now?"
"Do you think you'll become a hero this way? Come on, we're both planning to attend UA! You can't be behaving this way."
"Who said I'm becoming a hero? Fuck that, I got better shit to do."
"What? But I thought you... but you are attending to UA?"
"Yeah. for general courses."
Toji sighed as he combed his fingers through his hair, slicking it back.
"Just cause I said I'd attend that school doesn't mean I'll become a hero. Their general courses are just as fine. Plus, I've told you before. Morally, I'm not a good person like you. I'm still going to train you, but that's it. Plus, it would be fun to see that pomeranian pop a fuckin' vein too."
"Are you doing it all to make Katsuki mad?"
"Fuck Nah, I ain't aiming to get him a hard-on by thinking he's the main reason for it. Just a nice side perk to get him raging."
Izuku looked at him with disbelief and confusion.
"What the fuck?"
"The dude's a fucking narcissist. If he thinks he's the main reason for why I'm doing so, I don't want him to get a hard-on from it. You know I like fucking messing with him."
"Oh, right. How can I forget, my brother, being a fucking sadist."
"Damn fuckin' right bitch."
"Please, just don't gamble anymore, or just don't do it as frequently. But knowing you. You'll just lie to me."
Toji gasped as he placed a hand over his chest before wrapping one arm around Izuku and smirking.
"Damn boy, You know me to fuckin' well."
"It's you, Toji. I'm not surprised you'd be doing something fucked up."
"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah. Go suck a cock bitch."
"Why do you have such a gross mouth?"
"This is me. Why do you think I act like I'm an innocent virgin like you?"
Izuku rolled his eyes as he smiled at his brother, his mind lagging as he processed his words.
"WHAT!? You! When? How?"
"That doesn't matter right now."
"Uh, I think the fuck not! Toji~!"
Izuku whined out the other's name as he held onto him while being dragged down the street back to their house. His pleas, being completely ignored.
Once they reached the apartment. Toji lifted Izuku by the hem of his shirt and pried him off himself to drop him on the ground. Leaving him in the living room and rushing to his room.
Inko walked in and stared at her son with a confused expression.
"What happened?"
"It's. Nothing. Toji's frustrated with some questions I wanted to be answered."
"Don't bother him too much, you know. I know he cares for you. But not many people have the patience with you. Especially when you go into that habit."
"I know..."
"Come on, help me with the food. We can prepare Toji some of his favorite foods to cheer him up."
Izuku beamed and quickly nodded as he stood up and closed the door, rushing to help his mother in the kitchen.
Izuku was walking back after his small moment of being bullied by Katsuki. Sighing as he held his wet notebook, staring at it with a dishearted expression. Could he ever become a hero? Will he even be good at anything? He hated how much better Toji and Bakugou were than him. Hated how much amazing they were, how many people looked at them with amazement or jealousy.
While they only stared down at him with mockery and contempt. His mind spiraled down, second-guessing his worth. Would he become anything good in the future? One that his mother would be proud of with all her praises she says of his son?
She wants to see that kind smile of hers, to proudly say with tears of happiness.
'That's my son! I'm so proud of him for becoming a hero! I always knew he would become one! I'm the proudest mother to have such a strong boy like him!'
He wanted her praise, her validation for his dreams. She supported his goal. But it never hid the worry and fear she had for him for wanting such a career.
But did he do it for himself? Wanting to achieve such goals despite the tall, tall overwhelming wall blocking him? He thought he had been chipping it away with Toji's training. But now, he hasn't at all.
That imaginary hammer and chisel he haad, now replaced with boxing gloves. Despite how much he punches, there's no show of his labor.
He halted as a shiver ran down his spine. He felt fear running down his spine as he witnessed the gruesome scene in front of him. A large and skeleton-type dog, eating away at a corpse, it stench horrible enough he had to cover his mouth.
The corpse what a sludge-like person. His breath hitched, recognizing the villain that had recently hijacked a bank, now dead and being devoured. Guts spewed out blood and sludge green, mixing and painting the street floor. The dog creature tore out its eyeballs, munching on it with glee.
Blood covered its face as the head buried into the stomach and devoured the liver and lungs. Izuku took a step back and stumbled onto the floor.
The creature looked up. It's one eye staring at him while half of its unfleshed skin was exposed along with its brain. The maggots and flies, hovering around it as it growled, preparing itself, arched down before it ran at him.
Izuku screamed out in fear. Was this his end? Dead from such a vile creature? No. No, no. NO. He would end like this. His eyes steeled as he grabbed his backpack and swung it at the dog.. the dog stumbled back and shook its head. That gave the boy enough time to get on his feet.
Holding a box cutter in his trembling hands, he unconsciously smiled as he stared into the creature's eye. A low menacing growl from the dog as it jumped at Izuku, pushing him down. He struggled to hold the dog back from biting him. His hand around its rotting flesh neck, he grimaced in disgust as he stabbed the dog in the head, for nothing to happen. His eyes widened in fear. The dog moved back, shaking furiously and pawing the blade lodged at its head. It's low out a growl. As the body contorted, becoming ginormous than before, saliva foamed out from its mouth.
The saliva hit the ground, a light sizzle, and steam came from it as it seemed to eat out the concrete. Izuku's expression paled at the sight of it. He was fucked big time. How could he defeat it? It's not like he had a blunt weapon and hit it to death. The box cutter did nothing and made it furious.
Then there was a loud yelp, he snapped out from his thoughts. His eyes widened at the head was severe, there was Toji, with a weapon in hand and a... Worm?
"I thought I taught you not to get distracted when fighting."
"T-Toji? When? What? What was that? Why do you have a worm wrapped around you?"
"You can see it?"
"Of course, I can! Also. What the fuck was up with that dog?!"
"It's a cursed spirit, mostly of animals that were abused and left for dead, by the looks of it."
Izuku looked at him with confusion. Then, suddenly he fell onto the ground, eyes rolled back.
By the time he was awake, he was in his room. He snapped up from the bed and gasped. Toji sat on his desk chair and hummed as he read through his notebook.
"It was pomeranian, wasn't it?"
"Huh?"
"He ruined your notes. He's the only one with the balls to do that shit."
"That doesn't matter. But what the fuck are cursed spirits?"
Toji sighed as he placed the book down.
"They are spirits created from negative energy accumulated, But I'm surprised you're seeing them now compared to all of these years."
"Huh? What do you mean? How come you were able to defeat it?"
"The only way to get rid of them is with cursed weapons. Which is why I was gambling, to get them. Some people see them but don't realize what they are. The stronger ones are more troublesome to handle. Some of those team up to kill people and eat them."
"E-Eat? They eat people?"
"Yes, and each other, they feed on negative emotions. Some don't eat humans. Others do it because they enjoy it. Others like to extort the potential of humans before ending their life."
"You mean, t-torture them?"
"Bingo, the more negative energy they create, the stronger they can become."
"There aren't a lot of low-level spirits. It seems like the stronger one hunts them the moment of opportunity arrives. Which is a bad thing."
"Why?"
"Because the more they have, the easier many people see them for some reason. There might be grades 1 - Special grade. Those have enough intelligence to unite and form groups. It's like, that rat principal."
"Wait, you're telling me they're strong enough to make it seem like they have a quirk?"
"Bingo."
"Is that why you've been disappearing so often?"
"Yeah, there isn't an organization to exorcise them."
"So you use cursed energy to kill them?"
"Oh, I don't have any. None at all."
"WHAT!?"
"Why do you think I waste money to buy the cursed weapons? But you have some. Mmmm. I might start training you to use it."
"But I can't kill them! You saw what happened!"
"With the proper training, you will. It can be passed as a quirk too. You'll have an extra arsenal. But Izuku. Promise me one thing."
The boy gulped and slowly nodded as he looked at Toji. His fists balled together as he felt his heart quicken.
"You can't tell anyone about cursed Spirits or cursed energy at all. This has to be hidden. It's for their safety."
"How come?"
"They will think of them as humans. When they aren't, they can't be easily defeated or discussed. The only way to get rid of them is to kill them. Do you think people will condone this?"
He nodded as he understood his brother's words. If they were to be discovered. It's most likely turmoil to occur many people clashing onto how to deal with cursed spirits.
"Look. There's a lot about cursed spirits to discuss and cursed energy. That along with your technique for your cursed energy, rest for now. Alright?"
He stood up and ruffled Izuku's head before leaving the boy's room.
Izuku sighed as he curled upon himself. He had to kill those things... it was a hard pill to swallow. But Toji said it was the only choice they had. If they didn't, they would continue killing people. Hero's had to kill. But, it was the last resort thing to do, but for Toji. He had no choice. He closed his eyes and sighed.
His mind flashed of the horrid dog. A wave of pity filled him from the creation of it. The horrible emotions from those that hurt the poor animals.
Izuku then felt a weight on him, opening his eyes, there was the dog, but it appeared differently. He screamed as he fell off his bed. Toji rushed in with worry before his eyes widened in shock at the dog in the bed. His jaw dropped at the black dog panting as its tail shook happily. Letting out a loud bark.
Inko hurried over and gasped at the dog.
"What is this? When did you get a dog?!"
"I think... I think that's Izuku's quirk."
"What!? Is that true?"
"I think so, mom?"
Bwhahahaha. I feel so evil for doing this. This chapter was a bit shorter than a hoped but, I don't want to drag it on more. so I left a bit of suspense.
I feel bad for making Izuku have a similar summoning technique like Megumi, but in all honestly is more like Geto's. I'll go into a more explanation of how Izuku's Innate Techniques works. The cursed spirits will have a bit more gruesome description depending on what negative energy they collect.
I do hope none of you mind me giving Izuku cursed energy.
Anyways I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
