Toji was in turmoil. How could he have a similar technique to him? Like... Megumi. He knows many other sorcerers that use summoning as well. But, why now? He wasn't ready mentally to deal with a summoning sorcerer.
Sure, the techniques were different. Yet again. Toji slowly started to avoid Izuku. He just reminded him too much of Megumi. It was too painful to look at him and only remember his son rather than his adoptive brother.
He had stayed at the apartment on a Saturday morning. While Izuku went out to do his daily physical training. He sighed as he poked at the piece of grilled fish over his rice, not paying much attention to the rolled omelet and the slices of toasted bread.
Inko sat down across from him as she added natto to her rice. She hummed as she took a bite of her breakfast before she spoke.
"Toji. What's wrong? You've been avoiding your brother after his Quirk developed."
He cursed under his breath, knowing the woman found out his issues so quickly.
"It's... Izuku's Quirk reminds me of someone I used to know."
Her eye widened slightly, she nodded. Understanding the hidden words.
"Did you care for them?"
"At first, no. Because of someone... I cared for her a lot, but when she died. I couldn't stand looking at him. All I could see was her, but once he was gone. I had so many regrets. I wished I had done better and was there for him."
"You almost sound like a parent. But then again, I'm not sure what you went through before I met you. But I will tell you one thing, Toji."
He looked up at her. Inko's expression was fierce.
"I know you have regrets, but don't cloud them. Never taint the memories you have of people. Doesn't matter if you have regrets. Don't let those be tainted from the past and the ones for the future. You let those things occur, you'll hurt people. If one of those people is your brother, I'll be furious. I won't forgive you at all."
Toji chuckled and nodded. He started to eat his breakfast. Once he was finished, he left in a hurry to meet up with Izuku. Inko was right. He couldn't let his past life hold him back. Not especially when he has someone to take care of now. So, he'll try.
He reached Dagobah Municipal Beach. He watched Izuku pick up a microwave, placing it in front of his summon. The greyhound dog growled and jumped at it, tearing it apart as its drool disintegrated it. The green-haired boy took out his notebook and wrote down his observation, mumbling to himself of his curse spirit's potential.
He lifted his head up and smiled at his brother.
"Oh hey, Toji, didn't expect you to come."
"I have to help you figure out your technique. But, I will say it is odd."
"Hm? What do you mean by that?"
"Most summoning techniques have the user defeat the spirit or dominate it to have it under its command."
"How do you know that?"
"I've met a few sorcerors, but none knew their powers too well. At least you're trying to understand the basics. They always confuse it for Quirks."
"That does make sense. It is a bit confusing. I had this hypothesis. But it's so specific, I don't think it's it."
"It could be a different technique from summoning. But from the way it works, it can be confused as one."
"What could it be?"
"I heard there was one that could use spirit copses and manipulate them like puppets with their cursed energy."
"Could it be that?"
"Probably not. First, I'll train you to use cursed spirit energy. The best way so far is to imbue your energy into a tool. That way, it can become a cursed tool."
"Eh? Really? You can do that?"
"Most are created that way. Anyways here."
Toji tossed a Katana to Izuku. The boy fumbled the weapon before he held it tightly in his hands.
"How exactly do I do it?"
"I'm probably the worst teacher for this but whatever. Cursed energy requires negative energy, focus on your negative emotions and try to... Will it."
"My question is, how exactly do I do that?"
"I'll be honest, I'm not too sure how. I'd prefer to do with trial and error than rely on one of the sorcerers here. Their training is less than mediocre, plus it's not like there's much of them anyway."
"Huh? W-What do you mean by that?"
"This job is dangerous. Sorcerors die. Which is why they charge so much to deal with curses."
The green-haired male's complexion paled at the new information, falling over and the dog yelping as it was used as a cushion for his fall. Toji merely sighed, watching his brother faint.
"Geez, I forget how much of a pansy he is."
Izuku screamed as he ran around the abandoned complex building, the hissing of a large centipede-like creature following after him. Toji was outside, taking in some of his e-cigarettes. He exhaled as a cloud of smoke left his lips, picking up his vibrating phone.
"Yeah?"
"I thought you told me it was from a grudge of old tenants! Not a fucking centipede snake thing!"
"Look, dude. I don't decide on what form they take. Just hurry the fuck up. Don't you have your tool?"
"The shit broke! I told you... I'M NOT READY FOR THIS SHIT!"
Toji sighed and ended the call, contemplating whether he should or shouldn't give a hand in this. Ah, fuck it. He decided to wait instead.
First an hour, then two had passed. Toji's expression turned grim, unsure of the results inside the building. His smile turned wide as he watched Izuku was carried out by the spirit. The snake-like part hissed softly, its tongue flicked at Toji. Setting down Izuku gently. The boy had scratches and some bruises littered across his body.
His eyes glared at his brother, lifting his hand up and flipping him off.
"I... Hate. You. Piece. Of. Shit."
He panted out and groaned softly in his attempt to stand up. Toji only laughed as he walked over to the boy and lifted him up with one arm wrapped around his waist.
"So, have you figured out the energy at least?"
"I have some mild idea on controlling the curse energy. It reminds me of the flow of the chakra crap. I might have to get some books on the subject to understand better."
"I'll get some acupuncture books as well."
"Huh? Why?"
"What else? To beat the shit out of people in the points. While it's not fully reliable. It will give you a good idea on where to strike and take advantage of it."
"Geez, You really are a sadist."
"Girls seem to not mind it when it involves in the bed."
"Ew, that's gross and unnecessary information for me to know."
"You say that now, but then you'll be wanting to pound on some ass."
"Ugh, please. Just stop. I don't want to be discussing sex with you, of all people."
Toji let out a fake sob and wiped nonexisting tears. Glancing at the spirit following the two of them in the empty streets.
"You should call it away. Don't want you getting in trouble now. Still, have you figured out how you make the spirits into your summons?"
"It's a hypothesis, but I'm confident about it. If I inject my cursed energy, it seems to go through some changes and rewiring. like a parasite or mind control sort of thing."
"Oh. Hentai tag, nice."
"What is up with you and involving almost everything in a sexual term?!"
"Hey, mind control and body modifications are pretty decent tags. Most of the chicks drawn are fucking hot."
"UGH. Just shut up! I wish I could stab out my earlobes!"
"Ah yes, brain and ear fuck..."
Izuku let out an incoherent screech as he attempted to murder Toji. He only laughed at the boy's feeble attempts.
Toji groaned as he had stayed up late the other night. Of course, it was a curse he had to deal with. Sure, he could have taken Izuku and had the boy deal with it. But it was a semi-grade 1 spirit. Something that was out of his brother's league as of yet. He could deal with semi-grade two if he sweated a lot during the fight. He was glad enough his control with his curse energy and emotions were decent.
Nothing like the sorcerers of his past life, but compared to the other sorcerer he's met here. It was miles away better. Which reminds him, the number has been dwindling lately. He heard from a few others that they had died from some commissions or just disappeared. Which meant there where a possibility of Special Grade curses involved.
He pressed his head on his desk and groaned. He was too tired to think about such matters. Final exams were close in a couple of months, Izuku was pressuring him to study. His grades were decent, enough for him to attend the U.A school. A loud slam on a desk caught his attention. Bakugo was fuming as his heated glare was pointed at Izuku. The boy whimpered as he looked into the other's eyes.
Toji huffed at the interaction. Sure, Izuku had developed some backbone, but he still was scared of the Pomeranian. He rolled his eyes, grabbing an eraser from his stationary case, bending his wrist a bit as he straightened up, flicking it hard enough. When it hit Katsuki, there was a loud 'Twuach' sound. He slowly turned to Toji and glared at him, steam coming out of his ears. This only caused the boy to laugh.
"Oi, PomPom. Cooldown before you blow a fuse. Don't want your few brain cells to burn out with that Quirk of yours."
Bakugo screamed as he jumped at Toji. He stood up and held his arm out to grab the spiky boy's dirty blond hair. Moments like these made him appreciate the long arms he had inherited. It made it more amusing to see the boy become more furious. He yawned and pushed the boy to his goons, making him stumble on his feet.
Glancing at Izuku as he shrugged his bag on.
"Come on. We have to go to visit our uncle."
Izuku frowned and sighed, shaking his head. They agreed to use the uncle visit excuse around people. When they had a job with curses.
"Sorry. I have cleaning duty today. You'll have to go ahead of me. I promised one of my classmates I'd help with some reviewing too."
Toji nodded and left. Ever since Izuku came out about his 'Quirk.' His bullying had diminished. All but Bakugo barely bothered him anymore. But it did cause some mental issues with his brother, on how different they had treated him suddenly. He had to spend an entire month cheering him up.
He gave his goodbyes and headed to a train station. Going to Kakegawa, which was around a 50-minute train ride. Toji sighed, reminding himself he needed the money to buy more tools.
After he had returned from the job and to the apartment, Inko was worried sick for Izuku. Saying he hadn't returned yet and hadn't answered her messages either. Now, he was running around the streets looking for his brother. He skidded to a halt as he saw what seemed to be Izuku and a tall skinny man. Going closer to him.
Ideas were running through his mind, he growled under his throat. Running to a full sprint, yelling out his brother's name, he jumped and kicked the older male. He heard a scream and the horrified expression of his brother. He huffed and whipped the sweat off his face. Running to him, the other began to run away.
Toji scoffed as he knew he was faster than Izuku. He grabbed him by his stomach, lurching his back as he did a suplex maneuver. Knocking his brother out and then picked him up, carrying him over his shoulder.
He glared at the older blond man that spoke up in a fit of coughs.
"What are you doing to young Izuku!"
He lifted his hand up and poked his thumb out quickly, doing a slice throat motion to the man, making him quiet up.
"I don't know who you are. But stay away from my brother, you pervert geezer. Next time I see your scrawny skeleton hands near him, I'll kill you myself and make your body disappear. So keep your back alerted."
The man's jaw dropped as Toji left after giving out his threat.
But when Izuku had woke up, he cried a river of tears as he mumbled up to Toji how much he hated him for doing such a thing. The boy seemed more confused as he told him who the older man was.
"All Might? Oh yeah, you mean Spandex Man. Damn, life's been harsh on him."
He cackled out as Izuku glared at him and sighed in exasperation.
"Please, at least tell me you didn't make things worse?"
"..."
"Oh, No. Toji, What did you do?!"
"What?! I did wrong?! I thought he was a pervert! I did what I thought was right!"
"Ahhh, he's gonna hate me!"
"Why should you care? It's not like he's going to be a teacher at your school."
Toji's eye Twitched at the hologram for Izuku's acceptance letter to the hero department. He had gotten his acceptance for the general education department. He groaned as he slammed his head on the table over and over again. Oh, how much he wanted to choke himself for the irony of this.
All Might. A teacher for the U.A hero department. Both boys met their eyes. The green hair boy smirked at his brother's dilemma.
"You owe me lunch for a week."
"Yeah, yeah. Just shut up."
He snapped out bitterly and groaned. He hated how much shit wouldn't go his way, the one time he betted with his brother, and he lost. This world seemed to enjoy fucking him over and over again.
Maybe he shouldn't have gone to that park all those years ago, for he wouldn't be in a situation like this.
Okay! so I hope it was a decent enough explanation of Izuku's power. this chapter I had a more filler vibe to it. I'll be honest I don't really want to go into detail on the entrance exam. but I'll probably do a quick briefing in the next chapter. But I'll mostly do it to show off some of the curses Izuku has so far.
