As Deputy Headmistress, head of Gryffindor house, and the transfiguration professor, Minerva was so busy during the first week of school that Friday seemingly snuck up on her. Hagrid, on the other hand, felt as though the first week dragged on and Friday couldn't come soon enough. It's all he had been thinking about all week and it had finally come. Tonight he hoped to really start winning over her heart.
Hagrid had had feelings for the woman for years but had never thought he would stand a chance of being with her. They had always been good friends but she had never seemed to feel that way about him. Until recently, that is.
He had everything planned out and it was all set up so he combed his hair down, made sure fang was fed, and made his way up to the castle. Most people were finishing up dinner as he passed the great hall and took the stairs up to her rooms.
Steeling himself in front of her door he took a deep breath, smoothed his hair down one more time, and knocked on the door.
Minerva had been rummaging through her clothes for the past hour. She had no earthly idea what to wear. She didn't know where they were going and hadn't thought to ask how she should dress. She knew she was most likely overthinking the situation but she wanted everything to go well tonight. This week had been so busy for her and she was glad to finally be able to spend her evening work free and in good company. And perhaps a bit of snogging couldn't hurt either. She was excited to see what he had planned for this evening as this was absolutely a date. Sure, she and Hagrid had set plans together before, but never right after a breathtaking kiss. There was no mistaking that he intended for this to be a date, so what did a first date look like with Rubeus Hagrid?
She huffed in frustration then pulled out a midnight blue dress to wear under her robes. Not too fancy, but still a nice dress that she always thought made her bum look good. Hopefully he agreed.
This whole thing made her feel like a schoolgirl again. She was giddy and a little bit nervous which was interesting as she had never been nervous around Hagrid before. Standing in front of the mirror she turned and examined herself. Yes, she was right, her bum did look great in this dress. As she walked over to the bed to grab her robes she heard a knock on the door and quickly walked over to answer it.
She opened the door to his smiling face and smiled back up at him. "Good evenin' Minerva." He said cheerfully, his eyes taking her in. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you." She said as she took his hand and gently pulled him inside, closing the door behind him. She reached to put her arms around his neck and he took the hint, leaning down and capturing her lips for a brief kiss. As she pulled away she smiled at him and said, "I've been waiting all week to do that again."
"Feel free to do that as much as you like, Love." He said, looking down at her with eyes full of adoration.
She felt her stomach flutter at the term of endearment. He had never called her 'Love' before and she decided she rather liked it. Pulling her robes on over her dress, she asked, "So, where are we going?"
"You will just have to follow me and see." He said, a gleam in his eye.
"A surprise?" She said, lifting an eyebrow. "Lead the way, then."
He grinned and opened the door for her. She followed him out of the castle and over the grounds. She thought perhaps they were going to Hogsmeade but then he took a turn in a different direction and soon they were approaching the lake. As they drew nearer he led her to a small niche off to the side of the lake that wasn't in direct view of anyone who may be passing by, but still allowed for a nice view of the lake. There was a large blanket layed out with a basket sat upon it and a bottle of wine sitting next to the basket. He stopped a few feet away and turned to her.
"This is one o' my favorite spots out here. It's mostly private, and when the sun starts to set the sky looks amazin' and the moon shines bright. So I thought a picnic here would be nice. But if you'd rather go to a restaurant we could do that instead! I jus' want yeh to have a nice evenin'."
Minerva's heart flooded with warmth at his thoughtfulness. She didn't realize how romantic this man could be. She took his hand, smiling up at him, and said, "This is perfect Rubeus." He looked relieved.
"And very romantic." She said with a wink and took her robes off, turning and walking over to the blanket, allowing her hips to sway slightly in her dress to give him a good view. She looked back over her shoulder at him still standing there, his eyes focused on her bum. "Are you coming?" She asked.
His eyes snapped up to her face and he reddened slightly at being caught looking, but walked over and sat next to her on the blanket. Opening the basket he pulled out two goblets for the wine and then began pulling out several dishes of food and setting them on the blanket. After setting aside the fourth dish Hagrid looked confused and peeked down into the basket, reaching his hand inside his whole arm disappeared beneath the edge, obviously an extension charm had been cast on the basket. He pulled his hand back out and started chuckling.
Now it was Minerva who looked confused. "What is it?" She asked.
"I asked the house elves to pack some dishes that you liked. Seems they took their task a bit too seriously. Gotta be at least 10 dishes of food here!"
She peeked inside the basket, seeing all the food and laughed. "Well we certainly won't go hungry! Who would have thought you would bring me an entire feast on our first date." She joked.
They each filled a plate and Hagrid poured them both some wine, the pair conversed with the ease of two people who had known each other for years and Minerva was certain she hadn't smiled this much in a long time. Being with Hagrid felt easy, like all her worries melted away and it was just her and him.
After a while the sun started to set and he pointed up at the sky. She looked up to see the sky filled with oranges and purples blending together like a painting and she stared in awe. "Beautiful." She said.
"Very beautiful." He said back but she noticed he wasn't looking at the sky as he spoke. He was looking at her.
She locked eyes with him and he brought his hand up to caress her cheek before leaning his head down and kissing her softly, his hands going to her waist and pulling her into his lap. She giggled as he lifted her and set her in his lap but their lips never broke contact.
They kissed slowly until Hagrids tongue made its way past her lips, deepening the kiss. She moaned against his mouth and slid her arms over his broad shoulders, feeling the muscles beneath. The man's body was pure power and it absolutely turned her on. She had never been with a man as big as Hagrid and she wondered just how big he was in other places.
She was pulled from her thoughts by Hagrid breaking the kiss and moving his lips to her neck. She tilted her head to the side to allow him better access. He kissed and nibbled and sucked on the tender flesh of her neck and she sighed in pleasure at his ministrations. "Mmm, Rubeus." She said breathily. It was then that she felt it, pressing hard against her thigh. She shifted slightly, rubbing up against him, and he groaned, pulling back from her neck and looking at her with darker eyes than she had seen on him before.
"If that's what you want, love, you will have it. Just not tonight." He said, his voice sounding deep. "First I want to treat you like a lady." He gently took her hand and kissed it. "My lady." He added, searching her eyes to see if that was ok.
She blushed and nodded. "Your lady." She agreed. "And that makes you," she poked her finger in his chest playfully, "my man." She said sweetly and placed a kiss on his nose.
