How did she get to this point in her life?

"Master!"

She was just a normal girl that was only vaguely aware the Moonlit world existed at all. She had signed up to Chaldea on a passing whim, and didn't think they would actually hire her.

contrary to her expectations not only did she get an interview, she was all but hired on the spot. Apparently she had a one hundred percent Master aptitude, whatever that meant and after signing what seemed like a mountain of paperwork, she was whisked away to who knows where.

It was only now, in a burning city while looking down the bad end of a pointed stick, that she realized getting involved in the supernatural may have been a bad idea.

Despite being outnumbered two to one the lancer had managed to create the briefest of openings. Narrowly avoiding a rune that would have done her in, a second was all she needed to close the gap between her and Ritsuka. One more second and that lance would be through her skull.

Mash wouldn't reach her in time, neither would the spell that the caster sent her way finish in time. She was staring her death down, and she was terrified.

Help me!

"He-"

Her voice hitched. She couldn't quite get the words out.

But it was enough.

"!"

A bright blue light enveloped the area, distracting lancer enough to be knocked back something. She jumped back a bit more, warily glaring at the light. Mash and caster were also staring hesitantly, prepared to jump in should this unknown prove to be a threat.

As the light dissipated she could make out two figures. The thing that had beat back lancer seemed to be a large featureless doll with a few glowing markings on it. However her attention was firmly rooted to the girl in front of her.

The girl who had appeared out of nowhere slowly turned to face me, despite the clear tension in the situation. I had stumbled backwards when the light appeared and so was looking up at her, hands still trembling from that near death experience. Even so I couldn't look away from the sight in front of me.

A simple white dress with red accents, long brown hair that framed her brown eyes, all in all she wouldn't look out of place in a Japanese high school. Yet my eyes refused to look anywhere else, with the scorching ruins behind her and the moon casting its light on her, she seemed to shine an ethereal glow. The only word that could be used to describe her would be beautiful.

Her mouth opened and in a soft yet commanding voice asked me a question in a moment I'll never forget.

"I ask of you, are you my master?"

The darkness didn't last long before giving way to light once more, and a plethora of information was unceremoniously shoved into my head. But before I could even begin to comprehend what exactly had happened, my whole body screamed at me about incoming danger. However instead of dodging, I felt a tug within me and reacted on pure instinct.

Ting

Something appeared... no I had summoned something almost reflexively. A certain effigy that brought back less than pleasant memories. It blocked the spear that had been about to skewer me, catching its owner off guard, before pushing her back. The unknown but vaguely familiar servant retreated further back, cautious of the new element added to the battle. Lucky for me she did, as I held no doubt the servant could smash right through the effigy with minimal effort.

It was only when the light dissipated that I realized the attack wasn't meant for me, but rather the person behind me. So I turned to face the person I had inadvertently saved.

The girl had short orange hair tied to one side, golden eyes widened in shock, and a uniform of some kind. However it was the red marks on her right hand that drew my eyes. I would recognize command seals anywhere seeing as I've lived most of my life with them. But who was... ah.

I see...

A flood of old memories rush forward. A silent cry for help that shouldn't have been heard by anyone.

Someone, please save me.

The desire to live on despite the pain.

I don't want to disappear here. I can't disappear here.

Those cry's being heard, despite all odds.

"Umu, well spoken nameless traveller!"

The question she asked.

"I ask once more, are you my Master?"

"I ask of you, are you my master?"

Those words had slipped out of my mouth before I could fully come to grasps with what was happening. A strange feeling had welled up in me while those memories played out in my head and I felt both sad and happy at the same time.

My question seemed to snap her out of that shocked state she was in.

"Ah, yes!" She exclaimed

I gave her a little nod ignoring my own turmoil and confusion, before swinging back around as the Lancer had closed the distance between them. Likely deciding to just blast past the effigy, however...

"Master!"

Clang

A purple haired girl had blocked the incoming attack with a massive shield.

"Tch" the Lancer clicked her tongue in annoyance.

"you're becoming an eyesore girl, disappear!"

"Mash!" Exclaimed my... Master.

Lancer had managed to hook the purple haired girls, or Mash's shield with her scythe, pulling forward making her stumble and breaking her guard. Now completely open Lancer swung downwards, intending on finishing her off.

"Code Cast: Release_MGI(a);" I shouted, creating a shockwave to push the Lancer back and stunning her temporarily.

"Khh. Your tricks are getting tiresome, just turn to stone already!" she shouted while her eyes began to subtly change.

Ah, so that was why she seemed so familiar. Although her personality was slightly off, there was no mistaking the similarities. The enemy before them was undoubtedly Medusa. Normally that would terrify me especially given my current state, as well as the fact that I didn't have anything that could block Medusa's Eyes of Petrification. It was a good thing then, that I didn't need to. After all me and Mash were not the only combatants.

"You're wide open Lancer! Ansuz!" Shouted Cu Chulainn, the... Caster?

"Wha! Ahhhh!" Medusa was barely able to get a word out before being engulfed by flames.

As the fire began to dissipate, it revealed a heavily damaged Medusa still standing, before she slumped over succumbing to her wounds and began to slowly disappear into motes of light.

"And, that's one down." said Cu, relaxing his stance as Mash walked over to him and said "Thank you, for saving us when we were in danger."

"Don't worry about it, we were only saved thanks to your support." replied Cu as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder, getting a bit closer than he needed to. But before he could get even closer my... Master, I should really ask for her name, went rushing past me shouting "Hey, hey, hey!" and getting in between them.

"Ha ha ha, don't worry girl I wasn't taking her from you." Cu laughed while she silently fumed at him.

"Haah, he seems like he's going to be a pain to deal with." sighed a white haired girl as she walked up to me. "More importantly though, I suppose I should thank you for saving that idiot. without her this mission would've become much harder to complete."

"Oh, um, you're welcome." Dismissing the effigy, I accepted her thanks even though I didn't exactly intend on saving the um... idiot.

"Chief, can you hear me?" a voice laced with a bit of static asked, as a choppy projection of a man with light orange hair appeared.

"Romani! You're late, what took you so long!" the girl shouted at the projection. Startled, Romani responded "Ah sorry Chief, things are pretty hectic right now. Most of our systems were overloaded just a little wile ago."

Ah.

"WHAT!" the Chief screamed as both Romani and I winced. She then proceeded to start verbally ripping into him.

My memory of what exactly happened in the Moon Cells core was still a little fuzzy, but it was coming back bit by bit. So I'm fairly certain that the Moon Cell had a hand in whatever was going on. I should probably tell them, but...

"...and fix it! Honestly, can't you do anything right! You should..."

...I'm sure it could wait. I've been on the receiving end of a tirade from an irritated girl, and if this Chief was anything like Rin I didn't really want to jump into the middle of that.

Rin...

...

"Looks like something has the little miss in a fit." said Cu, breaking me out of my thoughts, as he and the others came to check on the commotion. "But we should find somewhere safer to swap stories, how about it?"

"Ahem, he's right, Romani find us somewhere suitable. You should be able to do at least that much." the Chief said to a very defeated looking Romani. "Right away Chief. Um, there should be a school to the west we could use."

"Then let's get going, we can talk on the way." said Cu, as he started off in the direction of our new destination. The Chief following after him grumbling something about being the leader, while the other two girls and I took up the rear.

I wonder if now was a good time to ask for their names?

Hey all. Happy New Years. So I'm just going to start off talking about Hakuno's profile, it was one of the main reasons I started this fic. I wanted to see Hakuno as a servant without her heroic spirits, but without them she really doesn't have many offensive options. Then I remembered another fic I read, grand glorious games, used the effigy from the beginning of extra. So I took that idea and made it limited to one effigy, that way I could have Hakuno be more offensive oriented while making sure she wasn't OP. Demonic Atlas is pretty self explanatory if you played Extra, and I'm thinking about limiting it somehow so it doesn't become a crutch for me. I won't touch on the Regalia since it won't be relevant for a while. I based the precognition skill on the gameplay of extra, although I'm not sure if the S ranking is too high, but I'll leave it as is. The code casts are likely going to be her main way of contributing, I looked it up and there's honestly way more than I thought, and I'll be using both extra and extella excluding demonic atlas of course. That's about it for the profile I think.

So I've learned that writing dialogue is both fun and difficult. Fun because seeing the end product is satisfying, and difficult because I'm constantly worrying if I'm portraying the characters correctly. I think I have a good grasp on them, but if they start seeming OOC please tell me. That's another thing I want to thank everyone who has reviewed this fic, it's really helped me generate ideas.

But now to address the elephant in the room, this fic is updating at a snails pace. Mainly because I keep getting distracted doing other things. So I have decided in an effort to motivate myself, I will make a New Years resolution for literally the first time in my life. Mark my words, I will complete the Solomon arc by the end of the year. The promise has been made and if I don't keep it I'll feel like a prick.

Anyway, that's all I got for now, I'll see ya.
