Hey all! Sorry for the lack of chapters, life gets in the way, but here's a more light-hearted one. Let me know what you think!

The day was May 15th, and Team RWBY's usual routine began with Ruby's impossibly alert whistle tearing through the ears of her teammates. Blake was next to arise, sorting her backpack and choosing some reading material for the lunch break. Eventually, Yang lumbered from her bunk bed following numerous prods and pillow throws from her sister, sorting slowly through her stuff whilst combing through the long maze of her hair.

One member was yet to stir.

The precocious leader of the team edged closer to Weiss, who seemed incredibly relaxed in her sleep. The alarm she usually set for herself hadn't begun blaring out and the girl lay completely still. Ruby smiled seeing her BFF so serenely quiet. But with the morning starting, the leader blew her whistle again, right next to the heiress' ear.

"RUBY!" Weiss screeched as she sprang up from the bed. Ruby fell back in surprise and looked up to see the heiress grabbing her stuff and heading to the bathroom. When she returned, the group was crowded around the doorway.

"Weiss, why did you send yourself a package?" Yang questioned, a confused expression on her face. Weiss for her part was starting to tire of her teammates' antics this morning. She stormed over, slightly undercut by her still damp hair from her shower. Bursting between Yang and Blake, she saw a small package in brown wrapping paper. Taped to its exterior was a pristine label with a Schnee logo in its top right. She soon understood why Yang had asked, as the label said it was from W. Schnee.

"Yang, I wouldn't get a package for myself. It's from a family member. Now hurry up, we'll be late for class." Weiss couldn't hide her irritation from her teammates' inane question. Ruby raised an eye seeing the heiress go about in her usual efficient manner, yet with an occasional flourish. She gazed at her as Weiss picked up Myrtenaster with a slightly accentuated holstering of it on her hip. To her silver eyes, there was something Weiss was excited about, yet she wasn't willing to reveal. Ruby felt the need to investigate.

Weiss wasn't paying too much attention to her leader as the group left for their first class of the day. A history class with Dr Oobleck, one of the more enjoyable lessons for the heiress. Even if Oobleck's manic teaching style wasn't particularly for her, learning about the past battles of the world was still engrossing enough to put up with it. She couldn't shake the feeling that her other three teammates were talking about her though. Occasionally, she noticed Ruby and Blake briefly glancing her way as they whispered something.

The same happened in the next class, Goodwitch's combat training. It wasn't her favourite, owing to its length. But her paranoia peaked at seeing Ruby then whispering in her sister's ears, the silver orbs of her leader glancing her way. Luckily, lunch was after.

The team had the time to go into Vale for once. The airship journey featured the usual discussion of the morning accompanied with Blake's eyes scanning through pages of a new fantasy novel she'd bought the previous day. As they landed, Ruby quickly announced that her, Blake and Yang needed to speed off for ten minutes before meeting her at their favourite outside cafe, Cafe Tea-Air. Before Weiss could ask why, a few disparate rose petals appeared in her vision, leaving her slightly frustrated but happy for ten minutes of peace. At least the cafe visit would be nice with its smooth, dark coffee.

Meeting up with them for lunch was actually a delight for once. The four did look completely disheveled, sprinting round the corner and gasping for air with their school bags thrown down at the table. Yang simply fell back into the metal chair of the round table they'd grabbed next to the front door. When Weiss probed as to why they looked like they'd run into a pack of Beowolves, Ruby was somewhat indignant, saying they'd had to grab some important packages from the post office. They were all acting slightly strange, but the heiress didn't mind it. Especially as Yang offered to pay for their lunch.

The day's events continued with some afternoon sparring with the heiress. Before starting a sparring match with her blonde teammate, her leader cheerily approached.

"Wait, wait, wait, Weiss!" Ruby nearly skipped towards Weiss with a small brown bag in hand. "Please give this a go! It's some gravity dust I got earlier from a local dust shop. Please!" The near-begging from the silver-eyed girl broke down Weiss' defenses easily.

"OK, calm down Ruby. I'll try some." The leader handed over the bag and stood aside with Blake, who's attention was split between a novel and the sparring match. The heiress loaded the dust into a chamber in Myrtenaster. She often found herself struggling against the blonde who could close the distance quickly. Yang's smirk fully displayed her confidence as she assumed a fighting stance. That confidence turned swiftly to confusion as her movement felt restricted. Looking back, a black glyph pulled her back. Her confusion now turned to anger as she ran towards the heiress. Well, that was if she could run. Weiss couldn't help joining in Ruby's chuckles at seeing the blonde sprint on the spot, unable to approach her.

The evening drew in and the heiress returned to their dorm with a smile plastered all over her face. Today had been truly excellent, and the studying she'd just done was invigorating. Returning, she found the other three all engaged in their own activities. Ruby read comics in her own bunk, Blake lazily flicked through even more pages in her bed and Yang was sitting at the desk going over some class notes. She often found herself pleasantly surprised at the blonde's work ethic. For all her casual asides and relaxed attitude, Weiss had discovered a ferocious hard-working girl underneath. None of them seemed to acknowledge her as she entered. Their behaviour today was odd to say the least.

"You've all been strange. What's going on?" She inquired. Blake drew her eyes up from the pages. She exchanged a look between her other two teammates. Weiss stomped her foot in frustration.

"Seriously! What is happening?" The heiress couldn't contain her annoyance at them.

At that, Yang stood up. "Alright, calm down ice queen. We've been just trying to save a small surprise but I guess you should probably know."

"Know what?" Weiss responded.

At that, Ruby shocked her by unfurling a banner hanging over the curtain rail reading the words she wasn't expecting at all.

'Happy Birthday Weiss!'

She couldn't help but gasp at the banner, nor her surprise at the faunus rifling through the drawers to gather small gifts wrapped up haphazardly in paper bags. The gifts were placed on Weiss' bunk as the three gathered in front of her.

"Weiss, you didn't really think you could hide your birthday from us, did you?" Ruby asked, a grin plastered over her face.

"We did kind of figure you'd want to keep it quiet, so there's your gifts. We've also got a cake. Sorry this is all a bit last minute." Yang commented, hand on her hip casually.

Everyone started to look a bit concerned as the heiress stared at them, mouth agape with her eyes transfixed on them. They weren't sure how to proceed.

"Um… Weiss?" Blake asked nervously.

At that, she snapped out of it, looking back at the faunus. A small, but warm smile appeared on the Schnee's face.

"Well this is… nice. Let's have some cake." Weiss wasn't really sure what to do, that was clear enough to the three of them. Regardless, they smiled and did that, with Yang dashing off to collect the cake they'd politely paid the cook staff in the canteen to rustle up.

As she did that, the heiress opened some of the gifts with the other two. She couldn't help her own delight at seeing more of the gravity dust that Ruby had got her earlier, nor the pleasant surprise at Blake giving her an ornate cafetiere she'd found in at the Vale Auctioneers. Discreetly, she opened the box from her sister to reveal a whole bunch of stationary. It was a bit impersonal, but completely functional and useful.

Yang burst through the door soon with a quaint silver box, setting it down on the desk to reveal an iced cake, with the inscription "Happy Birthday Ice Quen." The team gathered round the desk, Blake and Weiss confused and not seeing the dagger eyes that the blonde was giving her sister.

"Ice Quen?! You didn't even get the insult right!" Weiss complained.

"Erm… I may have written the note in a bit of a rush." Ruby sheepishly explained.

Regardless, the team got to work putting together what became a small tea party, setting blankets on the floor and putting the cake in the centre. The conversation became the usual casual nonsense. Ruby talked about some new video game that had come out, complaining about its balancing. Yang discussed the possibility of them all going away at the weekend, which no one really took seriously given she had no idea of where she actually wanted to go. All throughout, Weiss was truly peaceful.

Eventually, the team retired to their beds. The heiress placed her gifts under her bed to organise tomorrow. She'd never really had this many gifts to sort. As she laid her head down, she glanced at the beds and her teammates. They'd gone out of their way at the last minute to make her feel wanted, to make her feel special, even in a small way. Silently, she spoke.

"Thank you. That was the best birthday ever."

She laid her head down, and slept as comfortably as she ever had.
