Tower
Early Evening
Alex took a breath as she leaned against the door frame that led into the small bunk area, she had been looking for Kara and Lena all over the tower that was when it dawned on her where Kara and Lena might be. Sure enough there on the couch, raven and blond hair pressed together, feet propped on the table and snoring lightly was her sister, hair still damp from the shower, blanket wrapped around her like a cocoon. Alex smiled at the figure curled up against her, Lena with her head resting on Kara's chest, hand curled into Kara's shirt, Kara's arm wrapped around Lena's smaller figure, cuddled under the same blanket. They looked relaxed, calm and at peace with the world around them and each other. Alex thought to the many moments between them, how no matter the odds somehow, someway they would always end up together.

Kara cradling Lena in her arms as she rescued Lena when she was tossed over the balcony by Lillian's thugs.

Kara fighting to prove Lena's innocence when she was arrested.

Kara not losing faith in Lena when the Medusa virus was launched into the air.

Kara risking her life when Lena was kidnapped by Lillian and taken to Lex's warehouse. The instability of the b### and Kara rescuing Lena as the building exploded around them.

Kara screaming for help as she carried Lena in the med bay after she was poisoned and they had almost lost her.

Kara sobbing and falling apart when Lena turned away from Kara after the identity reveal.

Kara continuing to chase after Lena no matter how many times Lena pushed her away.

Lena crying and yelling whenever Kara got hurt, fiercely refusing to leave Kara's side.

Lena fiercely protecting Kara against Lillian and Lex and all of Kara's enemies.

Lena developing the anti kryptonite suit to protect Kara.

Kara saving Lena after she jumped off a cliff during the war with Leviathan.

Lena fighting the hardest to get Kara back from the Phantom Zone.

Kara defending Lena, risking her life many times over to protect Lena and keep her safe.

Lena defending a vulnerable Kara from Acrata her words you'll have to go through me to get to Supergirl.

Kara believing in Lena even when it seemed all hope was lost.

Kara not giving up on Lena no matter the odds, no matter the cost no matter what everyone else thought of Lena.

Kara pushing Lena to believe in herself, believe in what she could do and more.

Lena believing in Kara, even if everything going on around them was falling apart, especially of everything going on around them was falling apart.

Kara and Lena always seeking the other out, whether across a room, across National City or across a multiverse or halfway around the world.

Alex grinned at the thought of the many other times the two were practically inseparable. Words unspoken, subtle glances, their touches as they communicated in ways only Lena and Kara understood

Kelly (wrapping one arm around Alex's waist as she handed Alex her coffee): That's adorable (watching Lena and Kara in front of her for a moment. Kelly didn't understand Kara and Lena's dynamic, didn't understand the nuances of their relationship. At first she thought Lena and Kara were together, as in romantically together, like Alex and herself. Alex explained to Kelly one time that Kara and Lena were each other's person. They were unlike everyone else around them and that confounded Kelly, because she didn't know what it meant but it was obvious what Kara and Lena meant to each other. It was love, pure and simple, not that love was ever simple but for Lena and Kara it was obvious a foregone conclusion that they belonged to each other and no one else.)

Alex (taking the proffered mug): That's them (kissing Kelly's cheek) since they met it's always been them, the two of them (motioning) together.

Kelly (tugging Alex with her): Like you and I (walking out onto the small roof patio with Alex.?)

Alex (grinning, sitting on the steps next to Kelly): No not like you and I, not like anyone else either, just them (smiling) something else. Something special. Something different.

Kelly (understanding): Undefined, just them, just Lena and Kara?

Alex (grinning, kissing Kelly softly): Exactly, they're undefined (smiling) I've never seen two people like them, they don't need labels, they don't need a definition, they're just them. Two people who are each other's world, their person.

Kara shifted, careful not to disturb the sleeping beauty in her arms, smiling as she ran her fingers through the long black tresses. She thought on Kelly and Alex's words, she loved Lena, loved her deeply, she was the one person she could just be, with no expectations, just her. Lena was her light, her beacon, her reason for continuing on, no matter the odds. Lena was the source of her strength, the source of everything that she did. Kissing the top of Lena's head she couldn't put into words what they were, they were undefined, no rules, just them.

Lena burrowed deeper into the warmth surrounding her, keeping her safe, grounded. She too had heard Kelly and Alex and that made her think. What was Kara to her? Lena could easily answer that, Kara her best friend, even through everything, her rock, her moral compass, her light in the darkness when it threatened to consume her. The one person in the entire universe that she could count on even when everything was crumbling down around her, especially when everything was crumbling down around her.

Lena (peering up blue eyes peering at her through long lashes): Shh go back to sleep (rubbing her hand over Kara's heart.)

Kara (softly): I heard Alex and Kelly and it made me think (looking at Lena, a soft smile, green eyes peering up at her.)

Lena (tucking herself back against Kara's chest): Me too (Kara's heartbeat soothing her, her warmth and strength surrounding her blanketing her.)

Kara (running her fingers along Lena's spine, feeling the tension in her muscles dissipate): And I (yawning) sorry I, I (a moment) you're my everything Lena.

Lena (relaxing into Kara's touch): I love you (the words scared her, frightened her, she had been down this road before; she meant them with every fiber of her being; Lena knew she loved Kara but what that meant she didn't know exactly, romantic notions aside. Lena always thought, believed that she was unlovable, that how could someone, any one love her, truly love her) I don't have words, I can't explain it and I don't know what you want it to mean but I do, (swallowing) I do love you (feeling Kara take a breath.) We've been through so much, faced so many things and we're here, us, together. That is what's important, this (why was it so hard to convey what she felt, what she wanted to say.) That's enough more than enough (hoping Kara understood.)

Kara (gently cupping Lena's face, careful of the bruise, understanding Lena through her words, her actions): I love you, I don't know what it means either, I don't have a reference for this (swallowing.) But I can't picture my life without you in it, can't imagine anyone else by my side, can't imagine what I would be without you, where I would be (pressing a soft kiss to Lena's forehead.)

Lena (considering): Does it have to be defined? Do we have to fall within societal norms and social parameters. Can we just have something that is us, something deeper, stronger than anything I have ever felt? Does it have to come with a label or be wrapped in a neat little box with a tag on it? (Taking a breath, inhaling Kara's scent of vanilla) if you want a label then that's okay too (blowing out a breath) I want this though (grinning as she motioned between them.)

Kara (smiling): I'd like that (she didn't like labels, didn't like that you had to fit in one category or another, couldn't two people be everything to each other without defining it), you get me, you understand me better than anyone else ever has. You are so many things to me that I don't know where to begin.

Lena (leaning up): Then (pressing a kiss to the corner of Kara's mouth) then let's just be, Kara and Lena, no rules, no societal parameters just us, you and I against all odds, against the world (blue eyes gazed at her.)

Kara (closing her eyes at the intensity of Lena's words): You and I together (leaning down pressing a soft kiss to Lena's lips.)

Alex grinned, she had heard them, she didn't understand what all of it meant, then Alex did, she realized the truth of their words. For so long Lena Luthor was defined by her last name, her money, her power and for so long Kara had to be both Kara and Supergirl, the weight of the world on her shoulders. With Lena, Kara could relax be herself and not have the heavy demands and expectations of having to have all the answers, to have to save the day. And Lena she could just be, could be herself, be loved not for her name or money but because she was beautiful compassionate and intelligent. Like two puzzle pieces who clicked, they completed each other.

Two Days Later
Alex (wandering in the large state of the art communal kitchen): Hey Lena how's that (her mouth slammed shut, her eyes widened and she quickly turned around) oh my Gods I need bleach for my brain (her sister and Lena wow okay but not in the kitchen and certainly not doing oh my Gods biting back a laugh) seriously you two.

Lena was perched on the counter, where they prepared food mind you, Kara was standing between Lena's thighs, hands trailing up and down Lena's toned legs and Lena with her hands resting on Kara's shoulders, their mouths pressed together, completely oblivious to anyone walking in at any time.

Lena (breaking the kiss; retorting): Mmm you have no room to talk Alex (returning to Kara's lips, enjoying the softness of Kara's lips, the sweetness of her mouth, the little noises she made, how their mouths fit perfectly together, Lena groaned as Kara's strong hands slid up and down her legs sending shivers down her spine.)

Alex (blowing out her breath): Lena I do not need to see my sister (hearing what sounded like a moan) in a compromising position with someone who I also consider my sister. (Giggling could be heard now) and in the kitchen of all places, where we cook, where we eat (Lena's unintelligible answer. All she wanted was a cup of coffee that was all.) Can you two take this to another room, preferably with a door on it so I can get my coffee (turning around?)

Kara (blushing): Um yeah coffee um (Lena's fingers trailed down her jaw.)

Alex (rubbing her face; she was happy for Kara and Lena but she didn't not need to see her sister making out with Lena in the kitchen or in any public place for that matter): I'm happy for you two (Lena leaned forward pressing her face into the crook of Kara's neck) now out so I can get my coffee, please.

Kara (not wanting to let Lena go, she pulled Lena forward): Hold onto me (picking Lena up, Lena's legs wrapping around her waist, Lena's arms wrapping around her neck): Right, um, (blushing) later Alex….

Lena (snuggling into Kara, her head resting against Kara's chest as she was carried down the hall): Bye Alex (smirking) enjoy your coffee.

Kelly (smiling as they moved past her): Um (pointing, turning her head to look at Lena and Kara, Kara carrying Lena like it was an everyday thing and maybe it was) that…

Alex (pouring two coffee mugs): That was Lena and Kara (smiling, handing Kelly the coffee.)

Kelly (kissing her softly): Are they, what…

Alex (proudly): Undefined, just them, just Lena and Kara.

Kelly (chuckling): Undefined huh (setting her mug down) because that sure looked like the definition of…

Alex (lowering her head): Yep (laughing) apparently they might be trying to define what they are (shaking her head at the amusing situation only Kara well only Lena and Kara.)

Kelly (laughing): Hmm how about defined undefined (Alex continued to laugh.)

Alex (continuing to laugh): Defined undefined defined (chuckling.)

Kelly (grabbing Alex's hand): Right how about just Lena and Kara, just them.

Alex (grinning): Yeah (settling down) yeah just Lena and Kara (tugging Kelly closer) and how about us (Kelly gave her a look) what would you define us as (Kelly's lips captured hers) oh (another kiss.)

Kelly (teasing): Let me show you what our definition is Alex (tugging Alex towards the balcony.)

Library
Lena (pulling back from Kara to catch her breath): Are we still undefined (teasing smirk?)

Kara (laughing): You tell me (another kiss) what do you want?

Lena (nibbling on Kara's lower lip): Us, undefined (grinning as Kara pulled her closer) you and I.

Kara (tugging Lena closer): You and I (pulling a blanket over them as they relaxed on the couch, Lena leaning against her chest, Kara automatically wrapping her arms around her) I love you.

Lena (dozing): I love you too (Kara's heartbeat relaxing her.)

Lena and Kara didn't need a definition for what they were to each other, they didn't need to explain themselves or their relationship. They were content to be, and that's what mattered.
