Eliot Waugh after becoming separated from his friends….after coming to terms with Quentin's death wasn't the same man who he used to be. Despite attempting to be happy with Charleton he was miserable and terribly lonely.

Quentin was dead.

Alice, Fen, Josh, Margo were all in New Fillory while Penny and Julia were together and searching for them (they had so far, no luck)

So, Eliot was alone now, with only Charleton for company and he hated it.

Charleton was alright but he just wasn't enough for Eliot. It wasn't Charleton's fault, he did a good job at distracting Eliot from his pain and loneliness sometimes but he wasn't Quentin, he wasn't Margo and he wasn't Eliot's soulmate. He was now no longer dating Charleton anymore, it just hadn't been working for him and now they were just friends again.

Eliot for a while after Quentin's death had known that he had a soulmate living somewhere in the world, the tattoo had appeared on his arm one day but so far Eliot hadn't met the person who he was supposed to spend the rest of his life with.

Everyone had a soulmate, an ideal romantic partner. People would find out about their soulmate by a tattoo that would be identical to the soulmate's tattoo, it would appear one day somewhere on their body and would always be facing in the direction where his soulmate would be.

One night he was at a party at the dormitory and Eliot was drinking with Charleton when he felt his tattoo react strongly to something.

He looked to his arm, feeling slight surprise as he did so, and saw that his soulmate tattoo was pointing in the direction of the right of where he was currently sitting.

Eliot felt suddenly a sort of pained longing feeling, he felt as though he wanted badly to meet this person.

They were somewhere close by so he should meet them, maybe they could make him feel happy again and he wouldn't have to feel so alone anymore.

Eliot stood up, made an excuse to Charleton and let his tattoo direct him towards his soulmate, as though it was a compass and he were simply lost.

He pushed through the crowded room, not bothering to be polite, until the tattoo was pointing straight towards a man. The tattoo to add a sort of confirmation to the direction it was pointing towards felt hot against his skin.

Eliot stared at the man and he felt an overwhelming feeling inside of him. Not knowing what to say, how to say it and not wanting to fuck everything up.

His soulmate looked familiar, however he was completely certain they had never met before. The man was attractive with messy black hair, was of average height, wore glasses and was currently wearing jeans and a black long sleeved t shirt. The man wasn't looking up at him so Eliot couldn't see the man's eyes but he was sure that he would find them absolutely beautiful no matter the colour, afterall this was his soulmate.

Perhaps he had stood and stared at his soulmate without saying anything for a bit too long because his soulmate looked up at Eliot, revealing the most beautiful eyes of emerald green that Eliot had ever seen. Eliot also could now see that the man looked to be in his twenties, had a scar upon his forehead, a peculiar scar that was in the shape of a lightning bolt.

"Hello, do you want something?" the man said, in a voice that held just a tiny bit of drunkenness to it.

"Yes…" Eliot murmured and he managed a smile. "My name is Eliot Waugh and…and I think…I think you are my soulmate" he said, feeling nervous as he said this.

The man's green eyes blinked with surprise and the man frowned, "Um…What?" he said.

"Can you show me your soulmate tattoo please?" Eliot asked, there was a sort of desperate, needy urgency in his voice.

"Um sure…" said the man.

The man stood up and showed Eliot a tattoo that was pointed towards Eliot in an almost excited sort of way.

"Oh..wow , will you look that" said the man , with surprise in his voice. "So that's why it's been feeling so hot"

The man looked at Eliot and smiled at him, "I'm Harry Potter" he said.

"I'm Eliot Waugh," said Eliot.

Eliot smiled and it felt almost foreign to him, he had nothing to smile about for what felt like years now and it probably had been. He had seen and experienced so many traumatic things, and not just in this timeline, maybe now he could have a reason to be happy again.

"Do you want to go upstairs? We can get to know each other where we'll be alone" suggested Eliot.

"Sounds good to me" replied Harry.

Once they were upstairs Eliot led Harry to his room and invited his soulmate to sit on the bed.

After sitting down, Eliot joined Harry and for a moment they just stared at each other, for a moment at a loss of words.

"So…Uh…Tell me about yourself Eliot" Harry said.

Eliot was quiet for a moment, his mind sort of filling temporarily with depressing and panicked thoughts. Thoughts that scared him. He wanted Harry to get to know him, to fall in love with him, He wanted Harry to want to be with him but what if all the horrible experiences he had lived through was too much? What if he told Harry about himself and his soulmate didn't want him anymore? Then there was what he still felt for Quentin and there was also the fear that all this calmness of his current life was just a break and soon something bad would happen again to make him lose the man who was staring at him, causing him to be miserable once again.

Eliot forced a smile upon his face, trying to get rid of his fears and doubts and just talked to Harry, telling Harry a bit about himself. He avoided talking about his experiences in Fillory, as he wasn't sure he was ready to tell Harry just yet but he told Harry his magic specialty, he said that he occasionally liked to drink and a bit of his likes and dislikes.

It seemed to be enough for Harry.

"What about you?" Eliot asked.

Harry smiled a bit nervously and he told Eliot about himself as well.

"Well, um..besides being a magician I'm also a wizard and years before I started at this school I went to a different one where I learnt to use magic with a …I also like to drink and I like to read and watch muggle movies and TV shows."

Eliot smiled and he soon offered Harry a drink before they continued to talk and continued to get to know each other.

After a while Eliot couldn't help but ask something that he was curious about since Harry had introduced himself.

"So, Harry my beautiful soulmate are you the famous Harry Potter who defeated You Know Who or is it just an amazing coincidence that you have the same scar and name?"

Harry averted his eyes from Eliot's as he drank some of his beer, "It's not a coincidence Eliot, the famous Harry Potter is me"

Eliot stared at Harry and for few moments he couldn't help but stare, he knew….just as everyone else here at Brakebills did , Harry's story. He felt sympathy surge within him for the other man but also, he felt glad to have someone like Harry as his soulmate. Not because of his celebrity status, he didn't give a fuck about that, but because he was sure that Harry would be able to understand him and what he had experienced because Harry had suffered too.

Eliot put down his drink and placed a hand over Harry's hand, "I don't care that you're famous Harry"

"Thanks" Harry murmured, and he moved himself closer to Eliot upon the bed.

They stayed quiet for a few minutes, later talking again, again getting to know each other and after a while Eliot kissed Harry upon the lips, his hands grasping onto gently the other magician's shoulders.

Harry was surprised at the kiss but Eliot could feel that his soulmate wanted it, just as Eliot wanted it. The kiss was deepened after a moment with Harry returning it, Eliot felt Harry grab at his shirt and pulled him closer as they kissed. It felt right to be kissing Harry, it felt perfect and amazing, and it really did feel to him that this was the man he was always supposed to be with.

When they finally separated, ending the kiss, Eliot stroked one of Harry's cheeks softly as he stared at his beautiful emerald eyes.

"So, date next Friday?" he asked.

Harry gave a nod, "Yeah, sounds good" he said with a smile at Eliot.

Eliot smiled back at Harry, "Good" and he pulled his soulmate into an embrace before offering Harry another drink.

Eliot as he continued to spend the remainder of the party with Harry felt hopeful and genuinely happy, looking forward to whatever future they could have together.
