Chapter [VI] First Flight and Stargazing
"Hngh," Jamieson huffed, struggling to climb up to the upper bunk since he himself had just woken up.
"Leo, wake up," He gently shook the boy, knowing if they waited for him again that day they'd have a risk of being late. "Leo, it's morning," He exclaimed in a hushed voice, not wanting to disturb the others in their room.
"Mm just a bit..." Leonidas hummed, partially awake as he turned towards Jamieson, eyes still shut. "Leonidas!" Jamieson shook the boy harder, raising his hushed voice just a tiny bit.
Suddenly, he feels a strong grip on his shoulder, pulling him down. He soon found himself being spooned by Leonidas as the big spoon. 'Jeez, he's strong for someone so thin,' Jamieson thought, squirming to get out, stopping after a while after how nice it felt.
'Huh... this is how it feels to be cuddled,' He wondered, wanting to cherish the moment, but remembering how they had a flying class that morning. "Leonidas-," Jamieson squirmed, somehow breaking free of the boy's strong grasp, "Wake up!" Jamieson shouted in a hushed voice, smacking his friend with the pillow he snatched, which the blond boy was laying on earlier.
"I'm up!" Leonidas squeaked, standing upright, stretching and yawning, blinking a few times at Jamieson, who simply raised a brow at the boy. "C'mon. You know we have flying class today," He sighed, rolling his eyes.
"You woke me up before the sun even rose?" Leonidas growled, scowling at the boy. "Well, yea-" Before Jamieson could even finish his sentence, once again, he found himself being pulled into the same position as he did earlier.
"Leo!" He squeaked, string to break free of the boy's powerful grip.
"Give it up Jamieson, I'm stronger than you right now. Wake me up once the sun is actually up," The blond boy growls once again, satisfied once he felt Jamieson finally give up.
"Fine," The boy huffed, staring out the window just beside their bed, noticing how the sky isn't even red yet. 'Huh... Maybe I did wake up a bit too early,' He thought.
While being held in such position by Leonidas, Jamieson couldn't help but wonder why he enjoyed such contact. He'd never had any form of contact with any other girls, let alone guys before coming to Hogwarts. The only human contact he'd have is with the Dursleys, and they're 95% negative.
Jamieson smiled, shutting his eyes and instead enjoying being cuddled, slowly drifting back into sleep.
"Jamieson, Leonidas, wake up!" A sudden voice woke Jamieson, who jolted up in shock. "Uh, wha-" Leonidas squeaked, feeling his arm being thrown across the bed.
"Frona is waiting outside," Their roommate, who Jamieson remembered as George, rolled his eyes, pointing at a confused looking Frona just outside their dorm entrance.
"Leo, the sun is up," Jamieson huffed, smacking the boy's right arm, remembering how Leonidas instructed him to wake him up only when the sun was up.
"Fine, fine. I'm up," Leonidas huffed, sitting upright while Jamieson climbed off the top bunk. "How come you get to come up to the boy's dorms?" Jamieson wonders, meeting said girl outside their door once he had freshened up.
Shrugging her shoulders, she replied, "I wouldn't know. Graham said you guys can't come over to our side, he never said we can't come over here," She answered, letting out a sigh once Leonidas finally emerged from their room.
Making their way towards the Great Halls, Frona did her best not to murder her two best friends behind her, who had somehow gotten into a pointless quarrel about which Every Flavour Beans had the best taste. At that very moment, she began wondering why she even stuck around the two, wanting to stuck an entire box of the sweets down their throat to end their quarreling.
Once finished with their breakfast, the trio made their way to the back of the castle, going down endless corridors and stairways. Jamieson had already familiarized himself with the castle, since he'd gone on a tour himself almost around the whole castle the day before.
Leonidas, on the other hand, had yet to memorize the castle's pathways, though he was proud of himself for remembering the way to the Great Halls, even though he got lost after the three of them were separated the day before.
"Good Morning students. I am Professor Cedrella Erskin, welcome to your first flying class," A tall, slim, shoulder-length brown haired female professor stood in-front of the class, right behind her a bunch of brooms following suite, almost as if enchanted to follow her every step.
"Before we begin, please know that Flying class is not a place to joke around. Flying itself is, while very basic, a very dangerous activity. You could fall off your broom from a very high place, fly into another student while trying to control your flight, or even fly straight into a wall," The professor explained, remembering the amount of students she had to send to the infirmary caused her to let out a sigh.
Jamieson nodded, feeling familiar with the phrase. All three classes had repeated almost the same thing, but then again, all three of the classes he'd been in were risky. 'I guess playing with magic isn't the safest thing on Earth,' Jamieson thought, wondering what wizards and witches would identify as the most 'dangerous' part of magic was.
"Now, please take a broom each. These are school-issued brooms, and will only be used in flying classes. Those brooms you see used by Quidditch players are self-bought," The professor explained, Jamieson waddling over to Frona and whispering, "What's Quidditch?" wondering if it was some sort of game or sports.
"I'll show you later," Frona responded, remembering how Jamieson grew up in the muggle world, it was expected for him to not know about the wizarding sports.
"Good, now set your brooms under whichever side has your dominant hand," Professor Erskin instructed, setting her own broom down on her left side, watching her students distance each other before doing as she said.
"Your very first lesson is to summon your broom. Now, broom summoning can happen anywhere. You could be here at the castle and summon your broom from all the way at King's Cross, as an example, but that would take years of practice. For your first time, you'll be summoning your broom from right underneath your hand. To do so," The professor paused, extending her left arm out, palm facing down and facing the handle of her broom, "Chant 'Up!' with sheer focus," She continued, pausing for another moment before calmly summoning her broom, "Up," She chanted.
In a swift motion, her broom flew upwards, right into her hand.
"Wow," Jamieson breathed out, nervous to extend his own hand, in fear that the broom might fly up too hard and break his hand. 'Is that even possible?' Jamieson wondered.
"Now, please repeat what I had just did. Your lesson will continue once everyone has successfully summoned their brooms," The professor instructed, once again watching over her entire class, although she did try to focus on Jamieson, since rumours had spread between the teachers with how he had aced his first potions and charms class, she remembered how gifted the boy's parents were, the same being with Frona and Leonidas.
Shutting his eyes, Jamieson focused as much as he could, trying to block out the varios "Up!"s ringing around him. After a few seconds of silence from his part, "Up!" he finally exclaimed, startled at the force the broom flew up to his hand, he still managed to grip on it tight.
"Very good Mr. Potter-Diggory, 5 points to Gryffindor for being the first to summon their broom," Professor Erskin applauded, surprised it only took such a short time and one attempt to summon his broom.
"Up!" He hears two familiar voices, in unison, chant. "Very good Mr. Malfoy and Ms. Weasley-Granger," The professor congratulated the two as Jamieson ran to where they were, all three of them exchanged high-fives, not aware of the jealous eyes glaring at the trio.
"Next up, you will learn to mount your brooms. This isn't a task as easy as you think," The professor explained, mounting her own broom and flying upwards, a few feet off the grassy ground.
"Balance is important here, along with how you grip your broom. A bit of error," She paused, purposefully leaning herself to the left and losing balance, ending up with herself turning upside down.
"I'm able to stay upside down as I have mastered the art of flying. For you, losing balance means falling off immediately, which wouldn't be pleasant, especially if you're more than 10 feet off the ground," She continued explaining, correcting herself before landing, teaching the students the proper way to grip in small groups.
"Alright, you three," She called out, approaching the trio.
"Now, before you take off, make sure you are balanced on the broom," She began explaining, mounting her broom, "Observer my position. I'm not too far off either end. Being balanced doesn't only mean balancing your left and right, like you would on a Muggle motorcycle," She paused, gesturing towards Jamieson, who seemed to be the only one out of the three who knew what a motorcycle was.
"What's a motorcycle?" Leonidas asked, suddenly curious about the types of transportation Muggles used. "Imagine a broom, but with a thicker, alloy body and two wheels in the front and back. You'll learn more about it in Muggle Studies during your further years. Now, like I said, you need to be balanced on all four sides, and how you lean. Leaning back will make your broom reverse, forward would make it go forth, and leaning even further forth will make it go down," She explained, pausing once again for a breather, "But that will be taught next year, so I don't know why I bothered to explain to you guys," She shrugged, descending from her broom.
Before she could ask the trio to demonstrate broom mounting, two seniors, which Jamieson identified as Graham and one of Slytherin's prefects, the male one specifically, flew towards them.
"Professor Erskin!" They cried in unison, both obviously panicking, the Slytherin prefect successfully landing in-front of her, while Graham somehow managed to stride off a few meters away.
"Y'know, I can deduct points for that ungraceful landing, Mr. Woods," Professor Erskin rolled her eyes, commenting on the boy's almost-failed landing.
"S-Sorry," He apologized, scooting closer to said professor, the rest of the student's attention now turned towards the three.
"What is it? What got you two panicking?" She asked, curious to see two of her best students in such a state. "The pixies are running rampant," The Slytherin prefect squeaked up, Jamieson curiosity sparkingas to what pixies were as Professor Erskin face-palmed.
"That's the 3rd time in these two months, Professor Gallagher really needs to contain them better," Professor Erskin sighed, knowing she's one of the few in Hogwarts who could catch pixies.
"Right. Mr. Graham watch over my class while I sort this out," Professor Erskin sighed, mounting her broom, "Good luck," The Slytherin prefect grinned, nudging Graham as the two flew away,
"Why me," Graham frowned, all eyes now turned towards him.
"Uhm... Okay, first years... What was she teaching you guys?" Graham raised a brow, turning his sight towards the trio. "Broom mounting," Frona shrugged, the other two nodding after her.
"Oh, right. I'm supposed to ask you guys to demonstrate... I think," Graham stated, trying to remember how his first flying class went. "Though I don't think I'm allowed to give points or let you guys fly aimlessly," He shrugged, descending from his own broom, "Starting from... you," He instructed, pointing at Ellias before waltzing over to where the black-haired Slytherin was.
"Hey attention hog," Ellias called out once he and the trio had finished. "What do you want?" Jamieson scowled, all three of them turning towards the boy. "How about we have a race? I'll prove I'm better than you," The black-haired student smirks, Frona immediately frowning, "I... don't think we're supposed to do that," She stated, though inside she knew Jamieson would accept the challenge.
"You're on," Jamieson grinned, both of them mounting their broom and lifting off. "First to reach the entrance wins," Ellias explained, watching his opponent nod.
"J-Jamieson you should probably get down," Leonidas squeaks, trying to coax his friend before they both got into trouble... only to fail.
"Hey, what're you two doing–" Graham turned towards them, spotting the two boys suddenly lift off after in the corner of his eyes, he began sprinting towards them.
"Jamieson, Ellias, whatever you're planning to do, do not do it," He warned, remembering the same scenario during his first class, though he wasn't the one to do it, it still looked painful when it happened.
"Go!" Ellias yelled, proving it was too late for the prefect to get a hold of them. The two took off before he could stop them, "Hey!" Graham yelled, watching them zoom forward, both competing to get the designated point. Jamieson felt blood rush into every part of his body, adrenaline pumping through, he had never felt like it before. The sound of the wind deafening his ear, how fast he was going and how the world seemed to disappear as he flew... Only for both of them to remember, in unison, that they didn't know how to brak.
"Shoot," Jamieson whispered, pulling his broom backwards, hoping it wouldn't break, stopping just before he hit the wall. Ellias, on the other hand, wasn't nearly as lucky.
"Oof!" The boy cried as he crashed downwards, leaning forth a bit too much at the last minute, sending both himself and his broom onto the ground.
"Oww!" He cried, clenching onto his broken left arm, Graham rushing to where they were, the rest of the students following suite.
"Ellias," He squeaked, descending and sprinting towards the boy, beaten by Graham who got to him first. "C'mon, get up, I'll take you to the infirmary. Class dismissed to the rest of you. Jamieson, I'll see you at the Great Hall in a bit," Graham warned, his tone serious as he glared at the boy, helping Ellias up and leaving the area with the injured boy.
Jamieson looked down at the smashed broom in-front of him, only after they had left did the impact of his actions hit him.
"Jamieson," Leonidas side-hugged the boy, seeing as to how silent he was. "I mean, we told you to stop," Leonidas shrugged, earning himself a death glare from Frona. "If it consoles, you... You did great controlling your broom? I couldn't even move mine after taking off," Frona shrugs, trying to cheer up her friend.
"Thanks," Jamieson whispered, still looking down in guilt. "C'mon, let's go to the Great Hall, we don't have any more classes till midnight," Frona smiles, pulling Jamieson's wrist, leading the two back into the castle after they've arranged their brooms in a neat pile, along with the other student's.
The trio made their way to the Great Halls, enjoying their lunch until an owl dropped a letter in-front of Jamieson. Opening it, Jamieson read it out loud enough for the other two to hear, "Mr. Potter-Diggory, please come see me at my office, this is about your incidents earlier,
Signed, Professor Erskin" His face changes into panic and worry almost instantly. "Be glad she didn't sent a howler," Leonidas shrugged, earning a curious look from Jamieson, who had no idea what a howler was. 'Professors can send wolves for this?' He wondered. a bit glad to not receive whatever it was Leonidas had mentioned.
"I uh... I don't know where her office is," He admits with embarrassment, looking over at Frona. "I'll take you there. You coming along, Leo?" Frona answers with a shrug, looking over at their third friend, who simply shook his head. "I think I'm gonna go take a nap. Our next class at Midnight anyways," He shrugged, finishing his food.
"You and your naps," Frona rolled her eyes, the three of them leaving once they finished eating, with Frona taking a worried Jamieson towards the aforementioned professor's office.
"Mr. Potter-Diggory," Jamieson entered the office after knocking and hearing a faint 'Come in,' from inside, seeing Graham and Ellias standing in-front of her desk, both looking rather embarrassed.
"Mr. Potter-Diggory and Mr. Lestrange. This is only your second day here and your third class, you've went ahead and caused a big accident, anything to say for yourself?" Professor Erskin sighed, clasping her hands together, she looked at the trio in-front of her, face filled with disbelief and disappointment.
"He started it," Ellias spoke after a short silence, Jamieson responding with a death glare afterwards. "I don't care who started it. 200 points from each house, another 50 from Slytherin for breaking a school-issued broom and another 50 from Gryffindor for your incompetence in following orders, Mr. Woods." She sighed, deducting a huge sum of points from both houses.
Jamieson felt his world crash and burn, costing his house that many points. That's waay over the total amount he'd earned for them so far!
"If there's nothing else, Mr. Lestrange and Mr. Woods, you are both dismissed. Mr. Potter-Diggory, please stay," Professor Erskin instructed, smiling slightly at the boy."25 points to Gryffindor, for winning the race," She chuckles, remembering just how much of a troublemaker his father was, she was glad Jamieson at least inherited his excellent control with the broom.
"You've got potential for Quidditch, Mr. Potter-Diggory. You should try for it in your 2nd year. I would recommend you to go now, but 1st years are restricted from entering it," She sighs, "You've already got great broom control. I look forward to our upcoming classes," She smiles once again, dismissing the rather confused Jamieson afterwards, before the boy could even ask what Quidditch was.
"Are you alright?" Frona asked once Jamieson had emerged from the office, her face filled with worry. "Bad news is... I lost our house 250 points. Good news is, I earned it 25... I guess," Jamieson shrugged, Frona relieved to see the incident hadn't sent her friend into a spiraling depressed state.
"Wait here," Jamieson suddenly spotted Graham in the distance, leaning against the railing overlooking and the castle's courtyard.
"Graham," He called out, gaining the boy's attention, who turned towards him and leaning against the railing again. "Anything wrong?" Graham asked, his tone empty, making Jamieson feel all the more guilty.
"I uh... I-I just wanna apologize. I-I got you into trouble and cost our house so many points," Jamieson began apologizing, looking down, hearing the older boy chuckle afterwards. "Relax, it's not the first time I went through this. I lost a lot more points than you did when I first arrived. I mean, granted, not in a single day," He joked, earning himself a scowl from his junior, "But still. You're young, I get it. You'll be seeing a lot more of those here. I just wanna say, don't expect all Slytherins to be like that, alright? Take the prefect you saw earlier as an example. He's a Slytherin, but he's well behaved. I'd know since we're together," Graham smirks, seeing his junior's eye widen before continuing, "Ellias just happens to be the first to grow balls and challenge you. You'll meet the same type of people from Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw," Graham's smirk softened into a soft smile afterwards.
"But," Jamieson spoke, only to have a Graham pat and ruffle his head, something he'd never experience before and if he had to admit it, he loved it. "Don't fret it. All I ask is you to earn back those points you lost. Do well in your classes," Graham chuckles, patting the boy a few more times before leaving, not wanting the boy to think of the incident any further.
"Thanks..." Jamieson smiled, glad to have such a caring prefect.
"Frona, you said you'd show me what Quidditch was, right?" Jamieson asked as the aforementioned girl approached him after a while. "Yeah, c'mon," She sighs, leading the boy back to where they had their flying class, except instead of turning left to the back area, they kept going down the corridor, walking past a bunch of greenhouses, which Jamieson found to be intriguing.
"Woah," Jamieson gasped as they emerged from large walkway into a big stadium, with colourful towers around and house flags on top.
"This is Hogwarts' Quidditch Stadium, that's the player's changing rooms," Frona explained, pointing towards the tents outside the stadium before proceeding down the pathway towards the stadium's entrance.
"I can't exactly explain the rules of Quidditch, I've only watch people play it a few times," Frona shrugged as they approached a few players standing near the entrance.
"Hi, are we allowed to watch the Quidditch team practicing?" Frona approached the two as Jamieson looked around, taking in the beautiful view.
"Sure? I guess. No harm in doing that," The female student answered, "Thanks," Frona smiled before dragging Jamieson further into the stadium, climbing one of the many colourful towers.
"Woah..." Jamieson gasped, awed at the sight in front of him. Though he didn't understand a single thing, he still enjoyed watching the students zoom around on their brooms, some players carrying wooden clubs, some being attacked by iron balls flying around. Though it was chaotic, Jamieson still found it fun to watch.
"Y'know, Professor Erskin suggested that I should try out for Quidditch," Jamieson shrugged, Frona nodding along, agreeing with the professor, "You should! You have great broom control already despite it being your first time flying. I mean, maybe next year," Frona shrugged, joining Jamieson in watching the Quidditch practice for a bit more. "You go ahead and continue watching, I'm gonna go review my notes," She piped up after a short moment of silence, seeing Jamieson nod before leaving him alone.
Jamieson wondered whether his parents ever played Quidditch, which reminded him... He should've asked Professor Erskin about his parents.
"Hey," A familiar voice startled him out of his trance of watching the game, earning him a chuckle from Graham.
"Oh, hey. What're you doing here?" Jamieson wonders, noticing how the boy was in some sort of protective gear. "Gryffindor's practicing against Slytherin in a bit, stay around," Graham smiles, nudging the boy.
"I will," Jamieson grins, seeing another familiar figure come up the stairs underneath the bleachers behind him.
"Hey hot stuff," The boy grins, planting a kiss on Graham's cheeks, something Jamieson thought was adorable. "Hey, you," Graham grins, returning said kiss.
"Graham, we're up!" Jamieson hears a yell from underneath. Peeking down, he spots a blond boy looking up at the tower they were occupying.
"Gotta go," Graham grins, exchanging another kiss with his partner and a short hug with Jamieson proceeding to off of the the tower and onto his broom, zooming off.
"Woah," Jamieson gasps, awed and worried about what Graham had just done. Had the boy missed, he'd end up breaking a few bones at least.
"Samuel here, just call me Sam" The boy smiles, turning towards Jamieson, who smiles back warmly, shaking the hand the Slytherin prefect had extended, "Jamieson," He responds, watching the boy unpack a wrapped box.
"Want some?" Samuel grins, sliding the box slightly towards Jamieson.
"Wow, I didn't know wizards ate sushi!" He excitedly exclaims, "Can I really have one?" He asks, not wanting to take someone else's lunch without permission. "Yeah, go ahead. Wizards don't usually eat muggle food. Graham was surprised when I first made this," Sam chuckled, remembering the first time he made muggle food for Graham, which was also one of many ways he won the boy over slowly.
"Thanks... I've never had sushi before," Jamieson grins, picking up a random one, swooning at how heavenly it tasted. "Really? Wait, you were raised in the muggle world, like me, right?" Samuel raised a brow, now doubting about the rumours of how Jamieson was adopted by a muggle family.
Unbeknownst to him, rumours, both bad and good, were spreading like wildfire about his trio, even though it had only been 2 days.
"Well... Yeah, but I wasn't really given much freedom," Jamieson continued, Samuel nodding in silence as they both enjoyed the sushi he made, Graham waving at the two as they finished warming up, both waving back together.
"I've always dreamt of having a brother," Jamieson smiles, watching Graham fly gracefully, "Now I feel like I have a real brother watching over me, even though I've only known him for two days," Jamieson grins, remembering how many times Graham had saved his bollocks.
"Yeah... He has that effect on people," Samuel smiles, remembering what made him fall in love with the boy in the first place.
The two continued chattering, Samuel explaining bits and bobs of Quidditch rules to Jamieson before it spun into random topics and Jamieson enjoying company from another muggle, finally able to share things that he could relate to.
Don't get him wrong though, he loves being around Frona and Leonidas, but sometimes things that they share are unrelatable to him. There's a lot of things he doesn't know about the wizarding world, despite being born from pureblood wizards, the same way Frona and Leonidas didn't know much about the muggle world.
Jamieson soon returns to his dorm later in the evening, once the practice had ended and he parted ways with Samuel and Graham, only to find Leonidas still sleeping. With a groan, Jamieson climbs up the boy's bed, "Leonidas wake up. We have class later," Jamieson huffs, shaking the boy violently, "Mmmm, let me sleep," Leonidas growls, turning around against the boy.
A devilish grin formed over his lips as a lightbulb went off in his head. "Wake up or I'm eating your dinner," Jamieson playfully warned, startled when the boy sat upright in a sudden movement. "Mmm, di... did someone say... di-iner...?" The boy slurred, his eyes blinking in an unsynced pattern.
"Wake up you doof," Jamieson shoved the boy, fully waking him up. Once he made sure his blond friend was 101% awakened, he climbed off the bed and freshened himself up, waiting for the boy before making their way towards the Great Hall, where Frona had been waiting.
"They really couldn't have the class any earlier?" Jamieson asked, munching on his food. "I mean, you can't expect to see stars in the morning, can you?" Frona responded, lifting a brow as she continued eating her food, both of them doing so in a far more graceful way than Leonidas was.
Once they were finished with their dinner, the trio made their way up to the Astronomy tower, swiftly evading Peeves and his pranks, which ended up hitting the people behind them in multiple occasions.
"Welcome, class of 2081, to your very first Astronomy class. I am Professor Astra Willerby. I am not nearly as strict as Professor Ancum, no. However, if you dare sleep in my class, I will simply take 100 points from your house, with another 20 for each subsequent times you sleep for the rest of your years here, understood?" The tall, female professor explained, satisfied at the scared nods of the other students.
It was at that very moment that Jamieson regretted not taking a nap like Leonidas did. The class hadn't even begun for a minute, he'd already feel insanely droopy.
"Now, stars are important. Though they don't determine how strong your spells are cast, they can, in some ways, affect the potency of potions brewed at night. When you pair stars along with numerics from Arithmancy and visions in Divination, which are two classes you'll take later on your years, you can make an accurate prediction of lets say, a great flood coming, or even the rise of another dark lord," She continued, shrugging as she spewed more an more gruesome examples, holding back her laughter at the horrified faces of the students.
"Now. Please open your books to page 2. Should you need light, you may cast Lumos here," The professor instructed, hearing sounds of pages turning. A few students had cast Lumos, struggling to read in the dark. "But professor, how are we supposed to read the stars in here?" A student asked. Looking around, Jamieson noticed a few different telescopes, some of which he recognized, though he, too, was curious whether they needed to peek into the telescopes the entire class or if there was a different spell to help.
"Patience, child," The professor sighs. With a wave of her wand, the entire rooftop of the class disappeared, revealing the beautiful starry skies of the wizarding world, visible in every way due to the absence of light pollution, which is something muggles miss out on.
"Wow..." Jamieson gasped, never having seen so many stars in his life. "Yes, Mr. Potter-Diggory. They are pretty indeed. Each star you see up there has a meaning, depending on how bright they shine, their colour and their position. Of course, we won't be examining every star up there for your first year, expect that for your N.E. ," The professor explained before beginning her teachings, with Jamieson struggling to catch some parts due to his insanely sleepy brain.
After quite a while passed, the class had finally ended. "Class dismissed, you may return to your dorms now," The professor smiles, glad to not have to take any points for their first day.
A few students, including Frona herself, was glad to finally be free. Even she was starting to feel woozy, with Leonidas looking as energetic as ever thanks to his long nap earlier. "Remind me to take a nap next time before our Astronomy classes," Frona sighs once they exit the tower, making their way down to the Gryffindor's tower. "Right," Jamieson yawned, his steps suddenly frozen.
"What?" He asked, Frona and Leonidas turning towards him in curiosity. "We... didn't say anything?" Frona responded before the three of them continued their journey back. Jamieson shook his head, thinking he was hallucinating due to his sleepiness, until it returned.
This time, clearer than ever.
He wasn't hearing someone talking, he was hearing hissing... But he seemed to understand the hiss, the way that he did while talking to the snake during his zoo trip a few weeks ago.
"Jamieson?" Leonidas called out, noticing their friend was behind.
Jamieson, on the other hand, had turned around and faced the dark hallway, lit up by only a few torches along the wall, with no other living creatures around, not even the ghosts. nor Peeves.
"What..." He whispered, the hissing continued, 'Free us...' it kept repeating. He heard not one hiss, but multiple. As if a lot of snakes was trying to communicate with him, though he couldn't see any.
"Jamieson," He felt a warm hand on his shoulder, startling him out of his trance, "Are you okay?" Leonidas worriedly asked, looking into the boy's eyes. Jamieson blinked a few times, massaging his eyebrows, he nods, "Y-yeah. Yeah, just sleepy," He smiles, "Well c'mon, the tower isn't far," Leonidas drags his friend, catching up to Frona as they approach the tower's landing.
"Leonidas," The boy called out once he changed into his pajamas, hearing no answer, he climbed up the bunk bed again, seeing how the blond boy was already fast asleep, Jamieson shook his head, deciding the hisses he heard earlier was just his sleepiness catching up, he ignored it and slipped into his world of dreams.
