Link was at a loss for words for a moment. The little imp wanted to be called mistress? He had to remind himself of the saying, Any port in a storm. He had dabbled in sailing in case he ever decided to journey away from Hyrule. It would be terrible to get swept away into the sea because he hadn't prepared at all. While he wouldn't call himself a sailor he understood the expression. When things get bad don't ignore what assurances you can get. "I'm not calling you that so we're clear. Midna is a fine name without additional titles. The three of us, are in this together." Link pointed at his hairy jail mate. He can't speak for himself, but I think he would agree."

The lupin herder nodded his large head in agreement. The diminutive rider was jostled with intent by the movement. Letting her know once again she was allowed to sit on him by his generosity. Not any control or skill she possesed.

"Fine, I'm no idiot I understand. So, Sir Rabbit have you any clue how to escape? The talkative warrior's pink ears visibly drooped in response. I thought not, so this is still my break out! Now that we've settled the chain of command we're going up." To illustrate her intentions she indicated a nearby staircase. "I don't know why, but the tower above is very lightly guarded." She smirked in a knowing way. "I'm sure you can handle the task pinky.

Link sighed dramatically without bothering to verbally respond. He began hopping along as his current body required. After climbing the stairs he saw two more of the strange creatures in the castle. They were guarding a single door that led into the tower room ahead. He might as well get it over with he thought. He made a quick dash at the enemy making fast work of the spear wielding guards.

There was a sudden change in wind direction as the wolf watched his furry companion. Three more Twill dropped from above cutting the duo off from the bunny. Link found his courage in that moment and lunged for one of them. It cried out in pain as it's throat was torn out. The other two momentarily backed up at the ferocity. Then they stabbed at the wolf with their own spears. Link snapped the weapons in half with his mighty claws. Then charged thru them as they tried to close ranks. The Twill went over the wall to their deaths.

The pink bunny patted the wolf as it reached him near the door. Realizing what he was doing he stopped immediately. "Sorry, your just so soft. Let's see what was so unimportant shall we?"

Midna made a gesture with her pony tail as if it were an extra hand. "Be my guest, the fodder always goes first anyway."

With an irritated nod the bipedal mammal opened the door finding it unlocked. What he found on the other side was something he wasn't prepared for. An involuntary gasp escaped his lips. A beautiful face he recognized met his gaze. She was older and more regal. Yet weathered and sad, a dim reflection of her. He shook his head visibly as he restrained his tongue. She was not his Princess Zelda, but another. That image imprinted on his mind. He wanted to see the sadness on her face lifted. He reminded himself it was not for him to do. This place must have its own hero who would return the hope to this dark time. For now escape must be his priority.

A ghost of a smile touched her features as she saw her visitors. Each person before her appeared as two separate images. The two men were of similar age and nearly identical. The woman was the Twilight Princess she could see the hidden face beneath her twisted form. "Welcome travelers to my personal penance. I had nearly given up hope. Then as if the goddesses finally heard my prayers you three rogues appear." Before she could say anymore vilianous laughter echoed in the halls. She quickly said a little more before waving the trio onward. "Find the hidden great spirits of light and restore them. Only then will the Twilight recede. Gather your courage and be gone you are not yet ready to face him."

Silently the three dashed to the escape route Midna had planned. They managed to avoid enemies or cut their way clear of them. Hyrule Castle was soon behind them as they each breathed heavily. Soon an enraged scream held thick in the air. Like locust, the Twill left in the fortress came rushing towards them. The wave of dark creatures were as far as the eye could see.

The smell of burnt fur came again as the party ran from the horde. This time the right shoulder had what looked to be mountain peaks within a circle. Link the bunny smiled and stopped suddenly. As the others slowed he bellowed with authority. "Keep going don't look back! I will stop the pursuit."

Wolf Link hesitated whimpering in concern. He locked eyes and saw immense magical power building there. He didn't know what it was. However, he was certain getting far away was his best choice.

Link leaped as high as his current pink body could manage. As soon as the tip of his scimitar touched the dirt he unleashed the devestating quake spell. The ground began to shake steadily increasing in power. A cloud of dust kicked up as numerous corrupted beings became nothing but powder on the wind. He collapsed to his knees as he looked at the terrible destruction he wrought. Sadly more enemies were still coming.

Midna looked at the cloud as the power made her shiver. She saluted the direction she believed her savior had been. "It was not a long partnership Pinky. Yet clearly you had the true heart of a hero. I thank you for sacrificing yourself to save me." Then as an afterthought she pet her mount. "Also him, for I am a benevolent Mistress."

Wolf Link howled in despair and resolved himself to push on. At least until the scent of sweaty rabbit caught his nose. As the dust began to settle he was able to make out a long eared warrior facing a horde of enemies head on. With that he charged and joined the fray. Turning the tide of battle in favor of his allies. At least for the moment.
