Summary: Takes place after Season 4 Episode 5 "Breaking Glass" but before/during episode 6, "Family Business". Initially, this story was going to take place before the next episode, but I had this idea about an alternate version of the episode. What if, Killian was taken by the Snow Queen in between episodes and Emma and the gang is searching for him as well as information on who she is and her connection to Emma. Since I have decided to write an alternative to this episode, I did go back and use some of the dialogue from the episode. Please remember, I do not own these characters (OBVIOUSLY).

Author's Note: Thank you to everyone who has continued to follow along. I acknowledge this might not be the best use of characters from this fabulous show, but it's my first fanfic in centuries (haha!) so I am re-learning the ropes. Please continue to leave reviews, feedback, and just keep reading! Enjoy chapter four! Only one more to go I think!

Chapter Four

The gang is back at the Sherriff's station after finding a huge file of artwork and class projects of Emma's during her time with The Snow Queen as a child. Henry is with Robin Hood and his Merry Men as they patrol the forest for signs of her. Regina is leafing through it trying to see if she can pick up any hint of magical essence from the papers, but they are too old it seems.

"Emma, why would she keep this whole file of your stuff. This is only something you do when…"

"When you care about someone," Emma finishes Regina's thought. "I know because I do the exact same for Henry."

"But why then go to the lengths of erasing your memories. Something bad must have happened." Regina closes the folder and sits down at the desk.

"Regina, can you work on tracking her somehow? There must be something at her shop you can use. You and my mom go check it out."

"Emma, I don't know that we are going to find anything. You know how much I love a wild goose chase."

"Oh come on, Regina" Snow says. "You never know what breadcrumb we might pick up. We need to do something."

Regina stops and looks at Snow for a moment before saying "It's that eternal, plucky optimism that made me want to kill you. Among other things." She stands and sighs, straightening her blazer and giving a gentle tussle to her hair before making her way out the door. Snow stops to give Charming a goodbye kiss that starts turning into a goodbye make-out session. Regina pokes her head in the door, sees them, and rolls her eyes.

"We aren't heading into war. Let's go!"

Emma sees her parents and can't help but roll her eyes as well. Although, she starts thinking about a certain pirate she'd like to have her own make-out session with. She's in her office checking security camera footage to try and get a sense of where Killian might be. David walks in to see what they should do.

"What do you have there?" he says, pointing to her screen.

"Security footage from different parts of town. I'm trying to pick up Killian's trail. Something is wrong. I can feel it."

"Don't worry, Emma. We'll find…"

Before David can finish his sentence, Belle comes running into Emma's office. She falls into one of the chairs, panting, and out of breath she says. "She has him."

David looks at Belle asking "Who has who?"

Before Belle can respond, Emma says "Killian. She has Killian."

"What? How do you know?"

Still catching her breath, Belle inhales deeply. "I was in the library and Rumple was supposed to meet me. I call his cell phone and Killian picks up instead."

Emma's eyes widen and her throat tightens with panic. "Well, is he okay? Is he hurt? Where is he?"

"We didn't get to talk for long, but he did say that The Snow Queen is expecting to trade him for you or something like that. She did something to him before he could say anything more."

"I'll bet you anything that our resident Dark One is working with her," David says.

Emma sits silently for a moment taking in all of the information Belle has and tries to piece together a plan. "He didn't say anything about how to find him?"

"No," Belle says, shaking her head, when she remembers "Wait, he did! He said something about an ice cave."

"Ice cave?" Emma ponders.

Her father looks at her, eyes wide. He bangs his palm on the desk because he thinks he's figured it out. "Emma, the ice wall where Elsa accidentally trapped you. It's still up! What if…"

Emma stands, grabs her gun from the drawer, and slips on a pair of gloves. "The town line! You're right. Let's start checking there. It's the best lead I've had all day."

David puts his hand on Emma's arm. "Let's go get our pirate back."

She smiles at him but knows that nothing is ever that simple.

"Belle, can you stay here and wait for Regina and my mom to come back?

Henry is out in the woods with Robin Hood. The group heads back to their camp once they turn up empty, but Henry sneaks off. He's looking for Hook as well as The Snow Queen. He hates to see his mom so upset and he knows something must be wrong for Hook to just vanish like that. He loves Emma and would never leave.

He's half a mile from the town line and about to give up when he hears two voices. Henry decides it would be wise to hide behind something rather than make his presence known. When he secures a hiding place, he peeks out and he sees his grandfather – Rumplestiltskin – talking to The Snow Queen.
