Chapter 2: New Friends Old Rival
Ash was walking through the woods and came across a Caterpie. Ash went through his backpack and pulled out a PokeBall. He then smirked and told Pikachu
"That Caterpie seems like it will be great for support, especially against Gary's Bulbasaur. But it does put me in an even worse scenario against Brock, doesn't matter."
"Pika" Pikachu said while getting into his battling position.
"Maybe you don't need to fight this one" Ash told Pikachu.
"Pi" Pikachu said while giving Ash a confused look.
Ash looked at the Caterpie and threw his PokeBall at it. After just a bit, Caterpie was caught.
"Alright!, Another Pokemon!" Ash said with his hand up in the air. And after a fist bump from Pikachu, they walked away still a bit hyped. Untill of course they bumped into Gary.
"Hey watch it!" Gary yelled.
"Why were you just standing there?!" Ash yelled.
"I was trying to train my Nidoran (Female)! And I'm doing pretty well" Gary answered the last part smugly.
"Fine, doesn't matter to me" Ash said while getting up and trying to walk through Gary. But was stopped by Gary, who said/asked
"Hold on Ashy Boy, have you caught any new Pokemon?"
"Of course" Ash answered.
"Then let's battle right here and now!" Gary loudly recommended.
Ash turned to Pikachu and asked him
"Whay do you say buddy?"
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted with his fist up.
"Lets have a two on two" Gary said.
"Fine" Ash answered.
And so they both stepped back and beought out a PokeBall each.
"I choose you, Spearow/Nidoran!" Ash and Gary yelled in unison.
"Spearow!" Shouted Spearow
"Nan!" Shouted Nidoran (Female).
"Spearow Peck!" Ash commanded.
"Nidoran, Poison Sting!" Gary ordered.
After the commands were given, there was a clash between Spearow and Nidoran, Poison Sting vs Peck. After much struggle, they cancelled each other out and jumped back. Spearow looked at Nidoran with an intese glare and so did Nidoran to Spearow.
Ash was thinking of what to do, then got an idea.
"Spearow, Leer!" Ash shouted.
"Nidoran, Scratch!" Gary Exclaimed.
As soon as Spearow got close enough to use Leer, Nidoran scratched him.
"Now use Fury Attack!" Ash commanded.
Spewrow did just this and hit Nidoran with Five Fury Attacks in a row while it was halved in Defense.
"Nidoran!" Gary yelled after seeing it hit the ground. Once Gary saw that Nidoran was getting back up, he told him to "Use Scratch!"
Nidoran did just this managed to land the hit on Spearow.
Spearow was still looking much better than the Nidoran so Ash told him to use
"Focus Energy!"
Gary took this opportunity to have Nidoran use
"Fury Swipes!"
However Fury Swipes hurt a lot more than Fury Attack. This was because Three out of five of the swipes were Direct Hits (Critical). And Spearow sure wasn't feeling any better after Gary told Nidoran to use
"Tail Whip!"
Since that succeeded in lowering Spearow's defenses.
"Oh no!" Ash shouted in panic. "Spearow use Peck to finish it off!"
"Oh yeah, well Nidoran use Poison Sting!" Gary shouted.
Another clash happened but this time, due to the crits, and Defense drops, Nidoran's Poison Sting prevailed.
"Row" was all Spearow could say before crashing down to the ground.
"Spearow no!" Ash shouted in alarm.
"Well it looks like Spearow can't continue anymore Ashy Boy" Gary smugly said.
"Urgh" Ash groaned. "Come back, Spearow, take a good rest. Alright it's up to you Pikachu!"
"Pika pi!" Pikachu shouted with a determined look on his eyes.
Pikachu got into the battlefield and waited for Ash's command.
"Alright, Nidoran, come back!" Gary called. "Now go Bulbasaur!"
"Bulba Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur shouted.
"Sticking to the Type Resistance are we?" Ash sarcastically asked.
"Got that right Ashy Boy, and plus they're our starters" Gary reminded Ash.
"Doesn't matter, Pikachu use Quick Attack!" Ash called out.
"Pika Pika Pika!
Pikachu managed to land the first hit and it so happened to be a Direct Hit.
"Bulbasaur, Leach Seed!" Gary ordered.
"Bulbasaur!"
"Pika!?"
"It's fine Pikachu, use Thunder Wave!" Ash announced.
"Pika Chu!"
"Shake it off Bulbasaur and use Poison Powder!" Gary called.
After doing just that Pikachu loomed Bulbasaur down and waited for Ash's next command.
"Now Quick Attack again!" Ash commanded.
Pikachu did just this but was too weak from the Leaching and Poisoning to be able to deal too much damage.
"Vine Whip, now Bulbasaur!" Gary called.
Unlike Pikachu's Quick Attack Bulbasaur's Vine Whip dealt massive damage to the weakened and tired Pikachu.
"Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!"
The Thunder Shock hit but didn't deal that much damage due to the type resistance.
Gary simply smirked and called out
"Now wrap it up with Razor Leaf!"
The attack hit and did as Gary said, ended the match.
"Pikachu, no!" Ash shouted.
"Hmm, Two for Two, come back Bulbasaur!" Gary then retracted Bulbasaur. "I sure hope next time you actually pose a threat Ashy Boy."
After Gary walked away Ash hit the ground.
"Damn, damn it! Why couldn't I beat him!? Couldn't even take one single member down! It doesn't matter what matter now is getting Spearow and Pikachu to the Pokemon Center" Ash said before dusting himself off, cradling Pikachu, and heading out of the Forest.
Only to be stopped by Team Rocket. And after one long intro Ash stepped back, put Pikachu down, and realized all he had to fight team rocket with was Caterpie. But then, he saw a Pidgeotto pecking the grass. He stared at that Pidgeotto and threw his PokeBall with full force at the thing (Curve Ball Style). It was done very quickly and the Pidgeotto was caught off guard by the throw, so it worked. the with both of his last Pokemon resting in two PokeBalls, he called them both out.
"Pidgeotto, Caterpie!"
"Stand down Twerp and hand over your Pokemon, especially your Pikachu!" James and Jessie told Ash.
"Never gonna happen!" Ash responded back.
"Fine!" yelled both Jessie and James before sending out their Pokemon.
"Koffing, use Tackle on the Pidgeotto!" James ordered.
"Ekans you Bite the Caterpie!" Jessie shouted.
"Caterpie use String Shot on the Koffing and Pidgeotto use Wing Attack on the Ekans!"
Both did their part. After Caterpie's String Shot, Ekans was immobilized and couldn't battle anymore. And after Pidgeotto's Wing Attack, Koffing was sent back but got back up, untill Ash told Caterpie
"Use String Shot on the Koffing this time and Pidgeotto finish them both off with Quick Attack!"
After the call was made, Caterpie and Pidgeotto managed to successfully knock both Ekans and Koffing out.
"Lets fall back now!" Jessie yelled with James and Meowth nodding in unsion.
After they were far enough, Ash turned to both hid Pokemon and realized tbe reason he couldn't beat Gary.
"I was so focused on beating Gary, that I completely forgot about the fact that I wasn't fighting alone. I have you guys, my friends, the friends that will always fight with me" Ash explained.
Both Pidgeotto and Caterpie seemed to enjoy Ash's warn hands rubbing the top of their heads. But Caterpie slithered back and started glowing.
"Caterpie, you're evolving" Ash said, flabbergasted.
After a minute of this, Caterpie finally finished evolving.
"Metapod" the newest evolved Metapod said.
"Alright!" Ash shouted in excitement.
He then brought out out his Pokedex and registered Metapod into it.
"Alright, we should get to the Pokemon Center, so come back, both of you" Ash said while retracting both Pidgeotto and Metapod back.
(Five Hours Later)
Ash and Pikachu were back to where they were when Team Rocket attacked and were training for their upcoming Gym Battle.
"Thunder Shock!" Ash called out.
"Pika!"
And like that another Pidgey was defeated (It took half an Hour for the Pokemon to become healthy and the rest of the time was spent on Training all his Pokemon).
"Alright, I think that's enough training Pikachu" said Ash.
"Pikachu."
"Do you by any chance happen to be another trainer from Pallet Town?" Asked a man with a Samurai helmet.
"Yeah, so what's it to you?" Answered/asked Ash.
"I'm a Bug Type specialist. I've been battling every Pallet Town Trainer and now I've run into you, so battle me!"
"Alright, hopefully this will be some better training than I have been doing, since it's with an actual person." Ash said while stretching.
"Let's have a Two on Two" said the Samurai.
"Alright" said Ash while bringing out a PokeBall.
"Go Pinsir!" The Samurai called as he brought out a Pinsir.
"Go Pidgeotto!" Ash called as he brought out Pidgeotto.
"Pidgeo!"
"Crck"
"Pinsir, use Tackle!" Called the Samurai
"Pidgeotto, use Wing Attack!" Announced Ash.
Pinsir was hit by the Wing Attack directly and instantly fainted.
"Pinsir!" Shouted the Samurai.
"One down One to go" said Ash. "But for now, come back Pidgeotto. And go Metapod!"
"Metapod."
"Then I'll use mine!" Said the Samurai.
"Metapod."
"Metapod, use Tackle!" Ash commanded.
And like with Pidgeotto, Ash's Metapod one shot the Samurai's Metapod.
"Alright and that does it" said Ash. "Come back Metapod."
"Well okay, you win" said the Samurai.
"We better get going, we've got a Gym battle to get to" said Ash.
But then, a flock of Beedrill came flying by. The Samurai retreated, but Ash decided to fight back. So he called out
"All of you, come out!"
(Half an Hour Later)
Ash was walking out of the Forrest and heading to The Pewter City Pokemon Center. He healed his Pokemon in the Center and got them ready to fight.
"Now that I've got a Pidgeotto, Beedrill, Butterfree, and Spearow, along with Pikachu of course, I think I'm ready to fight Brock" said Ash.
"Oh, so you're thinking of challenging Brock the Petwer City Gym Leader, are you?" Asked a mysterious man.
"Well yeah, he's a Gym Leader, and I've gotta get at least Eight Gym badges to enter the Indigo League" said Ash.
"I see, but I recommend you just turn around and stop right now, you don't stand a chance against Brock, not with the team you have" the man commented.
"I know my team isn't built for a Gym Leader that specializes on Rock types, but they're all I've got and all I need.
"Is that so, well go ahead and do as you please, but be ready to be disappointed" the man finished before walking away.
"We'll show you" said Ash. "Won't we Pikachu?"
"Pika?" Pikachu said with a hand up and determination in his voice.
So they ventured further, until reaching the doors of the Pewter Gym. Taking a deep breath he opened the door to the Pewter City Gym and entered.
He began walking around what seemed to be a dark room until a voice echoed
"Who goes there."
Ash turned around and that's when a light shined on Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader.
"A challenger maybe?" Brock questioned.
"Yeah, I'm here to beat you and earn my First Gym Badge" Ash echoed.
"Then prepare yourself" Brock warned as he held up a PokeBall in the battlefield.
"Bring it on" Ash said.
"Since I'm your first Gym Challenge, I'll only use One, but you can use as many Pokemon as you need" Brock told Ash.
"Fine with me" Ash said.
"Go Onix!" Brock Called.
"Roar!" Onix roared.
"Well come on out, Butterfree!" Ash shouted.
"Bad choice, don't you know that flying type Pokemon are weak to Rock? But this is even worse, because Butterfree is also Bug which is also weak to Rock" Brock said.
"I know, but believe me, I couldn't find anything with a type advantage over your Rock Type" Ash assured Brock.
"Well whatever, Onix use Tackle!" Brock demanded.
"Butterfree, use Sleep Powder!" Ash called.
"Free Free!" Butterfree repeated while using it's attack.
"Onix!" Brock exclaimed.
Onix stopped moving and went to sleep.
"Butterfree use Tackle!" Ash called.
After the hit happened, Ash made Butterfree use Tackle over and over again until finally, Onix woke up.
"Onix, Rock Slide!" Brock ordered.
"Roar!"
And after the call was made, Onix one shot Butterfree.
"Free."
"Butterfree is unable to battle, Onix takes this round!" Brock called.
"Damn, Butterfree, come back! Now go, Beedrill!"
"Zzz!"
"Twin Needle, now!
"Tackle!"
An exchange was made, Onix won the exchange, and sent Beedrill flying.
"Beedrill, Fury Attack!"
Beedrill flew down and used Fury Attack on the Onix, but the resistance was proving to be too much for Beedrill to overcome.
"Onix, Rock Slide!"
The attack hit Beedrill directly and knocked him out.
"Beedrill, no!" Ash shouted in worry
"That's Two" Brock said.
"Come back Beedrill, go Spearow!" Ash called.
"Onix Tackle!"
"Roar!"
"Spearow dodge it and use Fury Attack!"
"Row!"
Spearow did just this and hit Onix Four times before Onix fired back with
"Dragon Breath!"
Spearow was on the ground after the hit, but stood back up and waited for his commands.
"Mirror Move!"
"Row!"
Spearow fires back with a Dragon Breath of his own and makes Onix shake a bunch.
"Onix Rock Slide!"
After the command was made Spearow was out, just like Butterfree and Beedrill.
"Come on!" Ash complained before returning Spearow to his PokeBall.
"Come out, Pidgeotto!"
"Pidgeo!"
"Use Sand Attack!"
"Pidgeo!"
"Onix, Rock Throw!"
"Roar!"
The attack missed and Ash said
"Again!"
"No, Rock Slide!"
This attack hit Pidgeotto directly, as well as caught him off guard, and knocked him out immediately.
"No, Pidgeotto!"
"Pidgeotto is unable to battle, bring out someone else."
"Alright Pikachu, you're all I've got left, so go get em!"
Pikachu was very intimated by the size and look of Onix, but stood his ground and awaited his commands.
"Pikachu Quick Attack!"
"Pika Pi!"
Onix was hit by the Quick Attack but didn't look at all phased. So Brock said
"Use Dragon Breath!"
"Pikachu, Thunder Shock!"
"Pikachu!"
"Roar!"
A clash between Dragon Breath and Thunder Shock occured and while Pikachu won the exchange, the attack didn't effect Onix in anyway at all.
'It was the only way for me to counter Onix's Dragon Breath. But even though I knew Pikachu would win that exchange, I also knew that it wouldn't have any effect on Onix' Ash thought.
"Onix, Rock Slide!"
"Roar!"
"Pikachu dodge it and use Quick Attack!"
"Pika Pika Pika!"
A collision happened, but Onix wasn't that badly hurt by the Quick Attack.
"Onix, Dragon Breath now!"
Pikachu got hit by the Dragon Breath but was still able to continue on.
"Pikachu, Double Team!"
"Pika Pi!"
After the move was made, multiple Pikachus showed up on the battlefield.
"Onix, Tackle!"
Onix managed to Tackle one of the Pikachu's but ir turned out to be the wrong one.
"Pikachu, Quick Attack!"
All the Pikachus came charging after Onix but only one hit em, squarely on the horn, which hurt Onix a great deal.
'The horn' Ash was lost in thought.
"Onix, Rock Slide!"
Ash awoke from his train of thought But was greeted to a knocked out Pikachu (Even if he wasn't lost in his train of thought, Pikachu was too tired to dodge anyway). Ash in disowning shouted
"No!"
"Pikachu is unable to battle, Onix wins, which means I win" Brock said while retracting Onix. He then turned to his back and said "Come back when your Pokemon don't have to constantly be swapped out in order to nearly beat my Onix due to the type disadvantage."
After brock was out of sight, Ash punched the ground in anger, but then immediately headed to the Pokemon Center.
(After Healing)
Once his team was fully healed, Ash knew he had to think of some other way to beat Brock, because of the fact that with how his team is right now, he can't win. So he sat down and began thinking of strategies to beat Brock. As he was thinking, he heard a familiar voice ask
"So you lost huh?"
Ash turned and saw that it was that same man that warned him about facing Brock with the team he had right now. So with an annoyed look, he asked him
"What does it matter to you anyways, whether I won or lost?"
"Follow me, there's something you must see" the man said while getting up.
Ash did as he was told, but kept his guard up, knowing better than to place all his trust on a random grown man. However after a lot of walking, Ash saw something that made his heart skip a beat. There he was, Brock the Gym Leader, feeding a house full of kids.
"Those are all of Brock's little Brothers and Sisters. He's the oldest out of all of them and he essentially has to fill in as both a Father and big Brother to them since he's really all they've got" the man explained.
"What about his Mother and Father?" Ash asked.
"His Mother passed away a long time ago and as for his good for nothing Father, he went on his own journey away from home and left his kids under Brock's care" the man answered.
"That's a lot to take in for someone that's only Fifteen" Ash said.
"Definitely" the man said.
"But why did you bring me here?" Ash asked.
"You were thinking about how to beat Brock. Someone who you are severely outmatched by, but are trying to get through with it any way because the Pokemon you have are all you've got. Just like how Brock is all these kids have to look after them. Which is why, I'll help you." the man said.
"Actually I think I have an idea with as to how to do it. I just have to train my Pokemon a bit more in order for them to get ready."
"Use your head Kid, that Pikachu is really the only hope you have in beating Brock the determination it has in winning is more than any of your other Pokemon, so that's what I'll help you out with."
"How?"
"Follow me again."
And once Ash and the man stopped this time, they were right in front of an old electrical shack.
"This shack's electrical system will help strengthen your Pikachu's Electric Attacks enough to the point to where it's Thunder Shock can harm Onix. So we better get started" the man said.
"Right! You ready Pikachu?" Ash said/asked.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu determinedly shouted.
Half an hour later, after lots of time of spent on electrical enhancing. Both Ash and Pikachu were right in front of the Pewter City Gym. Ash opened the doors and announced
"Brock, we're back, and we're here to take that Badge from you!"
"Pika Pi!"
"Is that so? Well then fine, how about this time we have a Two on Two since you're so confident?" Brock queried.
"That's fine with me!" Ash shouted in agreement with a smirk on his face.
And so both made their way to the stadium where they began.
"I choose you, Geodude!" Brock called out.
"Go, Pidgeotto!" Ash called out.
"Geo!"
"Pidgeo!"
"Pidgeotto, use Wing Attack!"
"Pidgeo!"
"Geodude,. Rock Throw!" .
"Geo!"
There was no struggle at all, Geodude's superior attack power was way too much for Pidgeotto's Wing Attack.
"Pidgeo!" Pidgeotto shouted in pain as he flew back.
"Pigegotto, Sand Attack!"
"Pidgeo!"
'If Geodude is gonna be missing hits, then he needs to be able to take as many as he can' Brock thought. "Geodude, Defense Curl!"
"Geodude!"
"Again Pidgeotto!"
"Pigeo!"
"Geodude, Take Down!"
"Geodude!"
"The attack missed and Ash used the opportunity to get Pidgeotto to use
"Mirror Move!"
And so Pidgeotto fired back with a Take Down itself. The hit landed, but Geodude's type resistance plus its upped defense, caused Take Down to do very little damage to Geodude.
"Geodude, Rock Throw!"
"Not so fast, Pidgeotto Sand Attack again!"
The Rock Throw of course missed again. But once it did, Brock smiled, Ash quickly realized why and said
"Pidgeotto, Get outta there and use Roost!"
"Not quick enough, Geodude use Self Destruct!" Brock shouted in command.
The attack hit Pidgeotto a bit (Self Destruct only hurt him in the Wings and Talons) but thanks to the perfectly timed Roost, he healed a lot at the cost of sleeping.
Once Geodude hit the ground Brock said
"Since Geodude is no longer
"Onix!"
"Roar!"
"Rock Throw!"
The attack hit Pidgeotto but it still stood up while staying asleep.
"Again!"
This time though, Pidgeotto was out. Ash saw this and after retracting Pidgeotto, he looked at Brock and said/questioned
"Pikachu! So it's come down to my Pikachu vs your Onix again hasn't it?"
"I guess so, but I hope you understand that I can't just let you walk out of here with a Badge" Brock told Ash.
"I wouldn't have it any other way. Now Pikachu, use Thunder Shock!"
"Pikachu!"
The attack hit Onix, but this time it dealt damage. This shocked Brock, but he shook it off and told Onix
"Use Tackle!"
Onix hit Pikachu, but Ash told him to use
"Thunder Wave!"
Pikachu did just this and then used
"Thunder Shock Again!"
"Pikachu!'
"Onix Dragon Breath!"
A collision between Dragon Breath and Thunder Shock happened again with Thunder Shock winning again. Only difference this time was that was once again, the Thunder Shock did damage.
"Roar!" Onix yelled as he began falling to the ground, but then, his head hit and broke the sprinklers in the gym.
"Onix!" Brock shouted in worry as the water began pouring out of the sprinklers.
"Pikachu, finish him with" Ash started with his eyes closed, but didn't get to finish as he felt multiple small arms holding him down. Ash out of pure confusion opened his eyes and saw that it was Brock's little siblings holding him down. "What's going on?"
"Stop hurting Onix you bully!" One of Brock's siblings yelled.
"Believe me kid I'm no bully" Ash confusingly said.
""Stop you guys!"Brock yelled in frustration.
"But Brock we know how much you love your Onix" One of his siblings said.
"This is the entire point of a Gym Battle, and it won't stop until there's a winner!" Brock shouted.
Ash simply, gently sperated all of Brock's siblings from his body and then said
"Come on Pikachu, let's get out of here."
Brock was confused by this and asked
"Why are you leaving? Is it because of my siblings?"
Ash and Pikachu stopped walking, turned around, grinned, and said
"No, I simply wanna win my Gym Badge the right way, instead of the sprinklers being the reason for my win."
After saying this he turned back and walked outta the door, with Pikachu in tow.
After multiple steps outta the door, Ash put his arm on his neck, looked at Pikachu, and asked him
"Are you ready to train again Pikachu?"
"Pika!"
"Hold on!" Said a voice they would recognize from anywhere.
Ash turned around asked
"What's wrong Brock?"
"You left before I could hand you this" Brock said while holding the Boulder Badge.
Ash didn't need another second to reject the Badge.
"I'm good" he said.
"Why?" Asked Brock with a confused look on his face.
"I told you already, I wanna earn my Gym Badge the right way.
Brock simply looked at Ash with a competitive look on his face and said
"Alright, but One condition. It's just your Pikachu and my Onix, since that really seems to be what it comes down to."
"I was planning on winning it with only Pikachu anyways, so your on."
And after that was said, both separated again.
(Three Days Later)
Ash and Pikachu arrived outside the Pewter City Gym for the Third time. After looking at Pikachu and nodding, Ash opened the door, entered the dark room, and shouted
"Where are you Brock!? Me and Pikachu are here for our Rematch!"
Then Brock appeared right in front of them in a flash of light.
"So you finally came. Alright, let's go" Brock said while walking over to the battlefield (If you looked around, you would see Brock's little siblings).
After following Brock to the battlefield, with Brock's siblings cheering him on, thehe Two wasted no more time, and got straight to business.
"Go Pikachu!" Ash called while gesturing for Pikachu to advance.
"Onix!" Brock called while throwing Onix's PokeBall.
"Roar!"
"Pika!"
"Onix, Dragon Breath!" Brock commanded.
"Pikachu, Thunder Shock!" Ash commanded.
"Roar!"
"Pika!"
The clash this time between both attacks had a struggle and ultimately stopped each other.
"So you've been training too haven't you?" Ash questioned even though he knew the answer
"You thought you were the only one huh?" Brock said in question.
"Get him Brock!" Shouted Brock's little siblings.
"Doesn't matter, Pikachu dash closer to Onix's head!" Ash commanded.
"Pi Pika!"
"Onix, Rock Throw!"
"Roar!".
"Dodge it and use Double Team!"
"Pika Pika!"
"Onix, Dragon Breath!" Brock commanded.
The attack hit the wrong Pikachu, and the real Pikachu heard Ash say
"Pikachu, jump off of One of the rocks!"
"Pi Pi Pi!"
"Now, Thunder Shock and aim for the horn!"
"Pika-Chu!"
The Thunder Shock hit Onix dead on in the horn and immediately brought him down and out.
"Onix!" Brock and his siblings yelled in worry.
After seeing Onix's eyes turn into a spiral, they knew the match was over.
Brock dropped his head, exhaled a breath of air, and with his head back up said
"Onix is unable to battle, Pikachu wins, which means the victor is Ash!"
With their battle won, Pikachu and Ash hugged it out, then approached Brock who held out the Boulder Badge to them.
"Congratulations, you won, here take it" Brock said.
"Thanks" was all Ash had to say before taking the Badge. "Alright, our first Gym Badge!"
After having a talk with Brock about him following his dream, the unknown man approached them, and while taking off his disguise said
"Go with them Brock, I'll take care of things here."
"Dad?" Brock asked.
After another long conversation with Brock and Flint, Brock and Ash left Pewter City to go to the Pokemon Center, where an unknown challenge (To Brock) lied. After healing their Pokemon, both Ash and Brock went to the back of the Pokemon Center.
After just a bit, Gastly appeared.
Brock was shocked by this and a bit scared that a Ghost Pokemon just came out of nowhere.
But both Ash and Pikachu stepped up. Ash then showed the Boulder Badge and said
"Bring it on Gastly."
Gastly got ready and so did Pikachu.
Gastly used Dazzling Gleam, and Ash told Pikachu to use
"Thunder Shock!"
The attacks collided, but Dazzling Gleam proved to be too strong, and after just a bit, prevailed.
"Pika!"
"Pikachu!" Ash shouted in worry. "Wait a minute... Thunder Wave!"
"Pi Pika!"
Gastly became paralyzed, but nevertheless, he tried using Hypnosis, but wasn't able to.
"Pikachu, Quick Attack!"
'But that's a Normal type move?' Brock thought.
Once Pikachu landed his attack, he faded into Gastly, then Ash shouted
"Spark!"
"Pika-Chu!"
'Oh I see!'Brock inwardly said.
This attacked it a lot more than Thunder Shock ever did, and was even worse since it was inside of Gastly.
Gastly once again trying to use Hypnosis, but to no avail.
"Again!" Ash commanded.
"Pika-Chu!"
Pikachu was still inside of Gastly, so it didn't even more damage than the last time.
Gastly once again couldn't move. So Ash said
"Wrap it up, One more Spark!"
"Pika-Chu!"
And with that being said, Gastly was out.
"Now we've evened the score Pikachu" Ash said with excitement.
"Pika Pika!" Pikachu shouted with even more exciting.
But then Pikachu, Ash, and Brock went to sleep (Gastly was still out, but used Hypnosis).
(Inside The Dream)
Ash, Brock, and Pikachu were looking at the talking. Gastly. It was saying
"Well done, you've bested me. I want one more match with you to settle the score, but you will need the Cerulean City Gym Badge in order to fight me again. And like this time, I'm going to train in order to beat you."
"You've got it, right Pikachu!?" Ash shouted with his fist raised.
"Of course!" Pikachu shouted in agreement.
"Well then, farewell for now" Gastly said before disappearing.
(Overworld)
As Ash and the others got back up, they stretched and then began their journey to Cerulean City.
'My next Gym Badge is waiting for me' Ash thought as he was walking.
