Bobby was still standing in the conference room holding a sobbing Maddie while Sue had gone back to work when his phone had plinged from a message received. While having one arm around Maddie he got his phone out of his pocket with the other and just stared at the picture attachment, there in a large hospital bed and connected to a variety of tubes and machines was
"Buck" Bobby gasped, which had Maddie flinch and sob even harder. Bobby read the message attached to the picture and then squeezed Maddie's arm which had her look up and at the phone where she saw
"Buck" Maddie cried happily this time, hardly believing her eyes that was as if glued to the picture on Bobby's phone
"Let's go" Bobby said after a moment of recovery and packed the phone away, to soon for Maddie but she didn't complain, she just followed the 118 firecaptain outside to where Hen and
"Chimney" Maddie squealed and ran to her boyfriend with excitement who was staring at his phone like Hen, both having received the same picture as Bobby
"Cap, is it really true?" Hen asked a little guarded
"I believe it is" Bobby smiled. "Let's go see our boy" Bobby said
30 minutes later the entire 118 was gathered in room 103, nobody saying a word. Christopher had dozed off and Eddie had taken him to his own bed. Buck was still out and Athena had just laid out all the information the doctor had given her
"We takes care of our own" Chimney broke the silence
"Yeah, Buck is not alone in this" Hen said. Maddie just kept staring at her brother, still afraid he was gonna disappear from her if she let go of his hand. Athena and Bobby standing by the window looking out into the hallway at all the chaos that was still unfolding but was quieting down a little
"They brought him in as a John Doe, Bobby" Athena said and looked up at her husband with teary eyes. "It was a mere coincidence I hadn't already left and that the doctor was able to catch me, and even then I almost turned around to go home to May and Harry and you" Athena cried now
"But you didn't and you found him, in all of this you found the one piece that glues our family together" Bobby said, taking Athena into a hug "Now let's go home, Buck will still be here tomorrow" Bobby smiled to Athena who glanced at the figure still laying unresponsive in the bed by the back wall
"Yeah he will" Athena said like it was a command and a silent plea all in one sentence. They bid the others goodbye and told that they would be back in the morning and then left the hospital. Hen left a little while after Bobby and Athena, needing to get home to Karen and Denny, but Chimney, Eddie and Maddie all vowed to stay at the hospital overnight, Maddie not wanting to leave Buck out of fear of losing him, Chimney to be there for Maddie and Eddie not wanting to leave either Buck or Christopher alone before he knew that they were gonna be okay
