"Stop stop STOP!" Julia uncharacteristically shouted, gesturing desperately at the firing range and the two figures currently shooting.
"Are you aiming you two?! Show me how you shoot…" Shooting was one of the few passions of Julia, she would tolerate no disrespect on her firing range!
Hoshi winced at being shouted at some "Um… The recoil seems to...watch.." She lined up the bolt action rifle they kept around for target practice and closed one of her eyes, bracing herself excessively. The recoil of the relatively weak rifle make her take a step back and sent the shoot far off to the side, she pouted in frustration.
Nala took a deep breath with her own rifle and aimed. Her heart was beating heavily at the edge of their feline hearing. She closed her eyes as she slowly pulled the trigger, wincing as the recoil kicked her in the shoulder. Her ears folded around the earplugs in them.
"I see...Both of you.. if you can please don't shoot anymore for now…" Julia declared and rubbed the bridge of her nose. When she opened up her eyes she felt a bit bad seeing as her two younger lovers were both pouting and looking sad.
"Hoshi, you aren't bracing for the recoil right, you need to be able to absorb it with body through your back foot, so the energy transfers into the ground. It seems some muscle training wouldn't hurt either." Julia said and leaned over to pinch and prod at Hoshi's stick like arms.
"Nala dear, you are bracing for the recoil too much, you are anticipating it and closing your eyes, you probably don't even realize it and get tunnel vision. Does your vision dim a bit?" Julia asked as she stopped being so worked up.
"Y-yeah...It kind of scares me.. firing a gun, but I know I might need to help someday. You all keep me back home if we get attacked, but another gun could mean we all.. live…" Nala looked a bit more upset at the harsh criticism.
"Sorry for yelling you two, I just don't want you getting hurt or shooting anyone but the enemy, any of you getting hurt is.. unacceptable to me. Maybe a change in gun might help besides these old things. I keep them maintained, but I did just loot the off some dead raiders after all...Lets head to the armory." Julia said and ruffled both of the twin's hair, giving them a little kiss on their foreheads.
It took the bite out of the criticism they got, and cheered them up slightly. They had never been allowed in the Armory that was Julia's domain… Nala was at least familiar with some of the weapons inside having designed some of them..or at least adapted the tech for them from better weapons.
Down a hallway off the main path through their home was a door more armored them the others. It wasn't locked to any of them, but the two youngest had no reason to go in there before…
"Welcome to my own little paradise." Julia declared with the hint of a smile on her perpetually frozen face. "Guns, Ammo, and Armor. Old guns that we get from dead raiders I mostly scrap for parts, they are shit anyway."
Hoshi and Nala peered around at all the racked guns with wide eyes… some of them were quite familiar to Nala "This one! You got the design built? I had whipped it up based on your's I wasn't sure if we could adapt a power source for it." Nala said and reached out for a smaller gun that was racked. It was pistol sized with an extendable butt stock.
"Yeah, you labeled it the X-Smg like my X-Sniper. It is pretty fun.. In fact it might be up your alley… The recoil is lower than that rifle, and the fire rate is really good. Grab that one and check the safety. Always check the safety when you pick up a weapon! I would normally also say to check the magazine, but your x-"
"Doesn't use bullets, just formed plasma bolts…So almost no recoil." Nala finished for her lover. "Sounds good to me." Her ears were perked back up, and her tail was waving back and forth.
"I guess I'll take this one then. Which is this one? Surprisingly light…" Hoshi said as she lifted up a bulkier gun from a rack. It was closer in size to Julia's weapon, but thicker and shorter.
"Give it a go, its pretty light since it is mostly made from Plassteel. The X-Cannon is pretty fun, it puts a LOT of rounds downrange… If your aim is bad it isn't bad choice, at least one of the forty burst should hit...At least it could suppress the enemy." Julia noted as she gestured for them both to follow her. "We can at least practice till you both stop flinching when firing, you can't have that."
Back on the range Julia set up some cloth pop-up targets for them from a large stack in a shed there. "Alright you two, we'll try this again. You go first Nala, try to go for a small burst without closing your eyes, there is almost no recoil, so try not to anticipate it so much. Just remember it is more of a short range weapon." Julia offered her advice and stood back, making sure to stand more behind both of them to watch.
"Alright...here goes…" Nala said and gulped, trying to relax as she braced the high-tech tiny machine gun. She had to restart a few times as she felt her concentration waver.
"Relax your breathing, don't pause it until you about to fire, if you anticipate it too much you will start to black out from holding your breath." Julia said and put and arm around Hoshi while they watched. Hoshi leaned into Julia as they watched, holding Julia's hand to her waist. If Julia was watching Hoshi she might have noticed the spark of hunger that was stirring in her slitted amethyst eyes.
It was a small burst, but a steady one as Nala depressed the trigger, a small burst of micro plasma bolts were sent into a target, and a bit around it. "I only winced a little! That wasn't… so bad, not as loud either. Did I do okay?" Nala asked nervously, being very careful to keep her gun pointed away from everyone… she didn't need another lecture on guns that day from their resident gun nut.
"Better, the longer the burst, the less accurate you will be, so try and find a nice burst that feels right… if I remember right you actually added a burst function it you can set how many bolts you shoot. Been a while since I touched the thing. Same goes for yours Hoshi." Julia said, giving Hoshi's rear a light squeeze, making her give a squeaky purr.
Nala smirked and met Hoshi's eyes. She just nodded at her twin, confirming what ever they seemed to communicate. "Oi, twins, leaving me out?" Julia asked slightly grumpily, giving another grope of Hoshi's plump rear.
"We'll tell you after practice, just don't anticipate going anywhere else today." Hoshi said and went over to a stall in the range, picking up the weapon she had set down.
While Nala was fiddling with the settings on her smg, Hoshi lifted up her X-Cannon to aim. "Somehow about the same weight as that rifle...You said the recoil is less?" Hoshi asked as she got a feel. She felt an arm go around her, while another groped around her body. It took her a moment to realize Julia was trying to shift her around.
"Stand like this, your feet are too close together." She said and stepped back after correcting Hoshi's posture.. but not before giving the back of her younger sister's neck a little kiss. Guns were known to fire up their sister they noticed..
"R-right...Here I go…" Hoshi said and pulled the trigger. Her eyes opened wide as a weaker recoil pushed on her. Unlike the rifle, it was a continuous push-back from her weapon as a 40 bolt burst was sent down range. Her target and two next to it were obliterated by the more dense plasma bolts compared to Nala's smaller gun.
"Oooo… Hoshi like~ This feels like… Power…" Hoshi said and rubbed her face on the smooth surface of the Plassteel machine gun cannon.
"I thought you might like it dear. Lets try again Nala, one more time for me love." Hoshi said and ruffled her hair.
"Okay… here goes…" Julia felt a sense of pride as her tiny lover didn't flinch much, or close her eyes this time, just a decisive pull of the trigger. A smaller burst of 10 micro bolts accurately struck her target, if a bit off center.
"Good job, doing better. Give it a few more goes and we can leave it here for today." Julia said and pulled her own sniper rifle off her back to get some practice of her own in.
Later on, after the weapons had been cleaned and returned to storage, they retreated to the bedroom for some relaxing couch time. Julia was in a good mood, she got some shooting with her loves, and currently had both of them resting against her on either side under her arms, right where she liked them, In hugging distance.
A rare purr came to the back of her throat unconsciously, though it was noticed by the twins, even if they didn't say anything, just hugged their shared lover tighter.
It was nice and peaceful…Though Julia sensed possible trouble when she saw the twins communicating with their eyes again, and Nala blushing…
"What are you two plotting…?"
The only response? Both twins licking their lips seductively...Even if it was more cute in Nala's case…
