"Pregnant," the word echoed in my mind. I froze in surprise. I turned slowly to Jasper, and his expression was just as bewildered as mine. Pregnant? But how? Carlisle slowly set down the phone. "How? I never knew it was possible..." his voice faded away. He glanced at me and Jasper. "Why don't we all go downstairs to talk?" he asked, making an effort to keeping his voice casual, though it was stiff with shock.

We followed him into the living room, where Esme was waiting. Rosalie had walked off as soon as I'd said Bella's name. Still not over the jealousy, no doubt. Carlisle cleared his throat. "Bella just called. She thinks she's... pregnant." there was a shocked silence.

"Pregnant?" Esme echoed. "But..." her voice trailed off.

"I don't know either. This isn't anything I've ever encountered." Carlisle answered with a frown. "I think there's only one way to fix it, though."

"You mean kill it?" Esme gasped.

"I... we'll have to see first, but that feels like the only option right now." Carlisle replied, his face full of guilt at the thing he'd have to do.

"And..." I began. Three pairs of expectant eyes turned to me. "I can't see Bella's future anymore." I admitted, looking down.

"What?" they all gasped at the same time.

"Well... maybe try again?" Jasper asked questioningly. I frowned, then tried again. It was different. A black-and-white Bella jolted around, almost like a glitchy tv screen. I tried to focus on Bella, but she was jerking everywhere. The colours in the scene went from dull to colourful, then spun and spun, changing into mesmerising patterns and intricate shapes. I had never encountered this before.

A sudden bolt of pain inside my head made the shapes spin the other way, and then my head was suddenly and unexplainably filled with excruciating pain. I winced, my hands immediately flying to my head. "Alice?" came Jasper's voice, pulling me back into reality. "Alice, are you all right?" he cried, instantaneously appearing at my side. "I'm fine. It's just..." I began, but another stab of pain hit my head, and I winced again. My head had begun throbbing uncontrollably. Never in my life had I experienced physical pain, not even the pain of the transformation.

"Alice? What's wrong?" came Carlisle's voice, sharp and urgent. I flinched as the volume made my head pound harder and let out a small moan.

"I... I don't know..." I whispered, trying to relax my features. Jasper offered me his arms, and I buried my face in his chest. His fingers slowly combed through my hair. "Come on, Alice. You don't need to hide anything. Just tell us how you feel, it's fine." Carlisle said, and a small wave of calm flowed through me. I looked up at Jasper accusingly, and he gave a shrug. "Yes?" Carlisle asks, his expression worried.

"My head hurts..." I whimpered, and rubbed my temples in a futile attempt to stop the pain that grew with every passing minute as my brain subconsciously shoved more and more half-formed visions in front of my eyes, forcing me to watch. Soon I couldn't stand it anymore, and I collapsed to my knees, falling out of Jasper's grip. "Alice!" they cried in unison, kneeling down next to me.

I cringed against the floor, broken sobs escaping from my throat. "Oh, Alice!" Esme whispered, softly stroking the top of my head. I gingerly propped myself up, disoriented. I clung onto Jasper's arm as I stood up, afraid I would fall. He carefully swung my legs up so that he was carrying me in his arms. "Alice darling, we need to pick Bella up from the airport, will you be fine coming with us?" Carlisle asked. I nodded. Just then, Rosalie burst in through the open back door. "I'm coming, too!" she declared. I was a bit surprised at that, but I just let the matter fall.

"And me!" came Emmett's deep bass voice. Typical. He would go wherever Rose wanted to be, even if it was the other side of the world.

"If you'd like," Carlisle shrugged. Soon after, we were on our way to the airport. To Bella.
