Finally, they arrived at the Mathers domain. They entered a small Village. Subaru awoke by the noise of children playing and villagers doing their daily routines. Subaru has only seen this in rpg's and films. Still, he was interested in the scenery.

"So you finally woke up? Good, we will be soon arriving at Roswaal's domain, so please Subaru behave.

"That's right" a small cute voice shouted, Subaru recognise this voice.

"Puck" Subaru murmured. "O? so introductions are not necessary then". a small floating cat spirit flew in front of his face. The carriage room became a bit colder and spirits' gaze at Subaru became colder.

"My daughter told me you humiliated her in front of many people" his words were cold. Subaru was afraid of feeling the pain of death so he quickly spoke in an apologetic voice.

"Puck, please forgive me I did not mean to insult her, I am really sorry"

"Is that right" he stares at him with wild cold cute eyes. But suddenly a voice interrupted Puck's interrogation.

"Stop it Puck, he already apologized for it" Emilia shuts. She looked at the frightened boy.

"You know Subaru, was it? it's not so polite to apologize so much. Just try thinking before you act next time" At that, she turned to her spirit dad who floated next to her shoulder.

"You better listen to her Subaru" The little cat pointed his paw to the boy.

"Yha…" Subaru murmured in a defeated tone. Finally, the carriage stop for a couple of minutes, and the maid informed them they had arrived at Roswaal's mansion.

At the entrance of the mansion, a tall maid with yellow log hair and sharp teeth greeted them all. "Welcome back Miss Emilia, and nice to see you to Rem" then her eyes spotted the black-haired man.

"And this is" she spoke with a calm soft tone. "This is going to be our news college Frederica, his name is Subaru" a cheerful maid answered. Frederica seemed a bit confused but Emilia pointed out.

"Not so fast Rem, I still need to talk to Roswaal about him". " I see" Fredrika nods.

Subaru was a bit occupied by his thoughts about the future he will have in this world. For him, after he nearly died he felt uneasy to act naturally as he did the first time he talk to Emilia. Now he knows not everything people say is true and some people have their own goals. He did not know why are Satella and Emilia releaded or not. He got some uneasy vibe from the blue maid. He felt like something about her was not right, or he just don't know her too well. He can swear he heard her giggling from time to time opening the small window in front of the carriage just to peek at him. It was so weird. Not wanting to get hurt or cause trouble he kept his emotions in check for now. When the half-elf and the yellow maid entered the mansion he felt someone grab his hand.

"Subaru, let go, or you want me to call you brother?" The blue oni smiled at the man.

"Subaru is fine… but why did you call me that? and do I suppose to call you sister or something?" for a moment one word stun her and she turn away from him. "It's fine Subaru, you just can call me Rem". "Now let me guide you to the guest room before the Lord returns, then Miss Emilia will talk about your debt" she silently guided him to the entrance. The mansion halls were big and fancy full of expensive works of art. And full of doors, Subaru wondered how many people worked hare to maintain this big place. She finally guided him to a door. "This will be your room, for now, I will inform you when the Lord returns and talks with the mistress, wait for me hare until then" Subaru did what he was told, he entered the room and notest how clean the room was and how fancy the bed was he just lay down and try to relax.

Behind the closed door maid still stood. She lowers her head and starts looking at the floor remembering what Subaru asked of her.

"Sister" she murmured to herself. She summoned her loved book once more first looking if no one is looking at her and brought it to her chest. A small tear runs down her blue eye remembering a day that changes her life forever.

- 10 Yers in the past in the hidden oni village far away. -

"Why did you do that Rem? you could have died?" Skream a small girl with pink hair. She had an argument with her smaller sister about her wandering alone at night to make dinner in the middle of the storm. Her sister, stood silently and start crying, Ram saw what was going on and wanted to embrace her, but the blue oni screamed at her, tears and rage was seen on her small face. Her little oni horn showed himself. She swings her hands knocking vases off the table. Littering the floor with big shards of glass and clay.

"Why, why I can't even complete even the simplest task without you" Ram was stunned at her sisters remarks, but still tried to embrace her sister. "I'm just a worthless replacement of you"

Ram hugged her sister trying to calm her down, but her sister's oni rage take over. She that her sister grabbed something from the floor while she was still hugging her. Suddenly her eyes became wide.

"Rrremm" she tried to spit out her words, but instead, she only spat blood. In a rage, the blue oni stab her.

Her loved sister, her adorable twin just stabbed her with something. In Rem's tiny arms Ram saw that she was holding a big broken shard of glass. Ram's heart froze in disbelief. Realizing what she had done. Rem back a little rage tears became sadness and disbelief. She dropped the shard on the floor while Ram tried to brave while bleeding out from the fresh wound. Ram stared at her confused and sad sister. She mutters the final word. "why".

Rem in grief and regret did not know what to do with herself, her gut told her to run, run as far away as she can. And she did.

As she ran she heard her mother's scream, she can't look back. She felt worthless, her beloved sister did not deserve this, she saved her so many times, she committed the greatest sin of them all, she killed an innocent life. She had hoped she survived her foolishness, but sadly the last hope died when her twin link broke, and she felt it, the pain of her sister dying. She still ran and ran when someone yelled.

"Stop the murderer" "Stop the misfit" "Stop the traitor scum"

Another oni's started to chase her. She only tried to hide. She ran for hours whare to she did not know. Is she worth living after what she did? Not long after her tired body gave up she fell on the ground and cried herself to sleep.

When she wake up she felt the wet and cold forest ground. She stands up and brushes mud off her clothes. She suddenly remembers what she did and why is she here, she finds the nearest stump to sit down.

"Sister… am sorrryy" her words became sobs once again. In her jealousy, she just killed someone really close to her, she felt she can't be forgiven for this deepest sin. So she sat on the stump, not eating, thinking that suffering is still not enough to forgive her sins. She cried all the tears she had and regret crushed her so much it was unbearable. So the day became night, and night became day, she waited for any demon beast to finish her off. She only deserved death.

It was the third day of her suffering she felt cold. Maybe the reaper of death came to claim her.

She did not want to look at the figure approaching her, maybe her oni clan members find her to finish her off. But instead of them, a strange man with religious-looking clothes approaches her.

At first, it seems the figure was surprised by spotting her. And he pulls out an ornamented dagger. And started approaching his target. Rem lower her head and waited for the finishing blow. But suddenly he froze when he felt something in his pocket. The strange figure slowly pulls out a small black book from his pocket. Seeing the object the stranger change his mind about doing anything to the girl, and he just put the book near her feet. Rem looks at the man, but he just says "Read" and walks away to the shade of the forest. An hour passed and she finally managed to find the strength to pick the tiny book. It had a black cover with gold marking on the front. She open the page and find it blank, but before she turns the page words started to write themself. "Siner, you committed the direst sins and for that, the Witch of Envy grants you this gift. Follow its guidance and find your salvation" - it draws a little map and points it with a cross - here. She stands up summons her little horn to get a bit more energy to walk and started walking to the pointed location, every step was harder than the last. Her week small body started to give up on her, but her will of finding the so-called "Salvation" was stronger than ever. Deep inside her heath, she knew no such thing can exist to forgive her. Finally, after several hours she approaches the location marked in the book. She collapsed at the entrance and her vision went blank.

She wakes up by the sound of chanting. She smells some food near her. the little oni greedily started eating the dish near her that was cooked rire(Rice) balls. After not eating for so long she enjoyed every bite. When oni was done she started to observe where she was, she was in a wooden room underground on the straw bed. The room had a table and a chair with some strange papers on it. Finally next to her eaten food was her little book. She grabbed it quickly and open its pages, the book text was greyed out marking that she did her task. She raised up from the bed and tried opening the stage wooden door. When she opens the door she can see a fire in a huge cave hall and the same strange-looking men ware dancing to its flame. Suddenly one of the men not dancing spotted her and as fast as the wind he appeared in front of her. At first, she was scared but tried to calm herself.

"Don't worry little one, we don't hurt our own" The figure removed his hood revealing a middle-aged-looking man with short hair and green eyes. He looked friendly, but something about him was strange his aura and smell reeked of something dark that smelled sweet and sour at the same time. The man spotted her expression by smelling something bad. "So you can smell it too, as expected, her love guided you to us". The small oni back away elite and bow her head.

"Thanks for the meal" the man only smiled. He guided the little girl deeper into the cave. The place was huge with a lot of wooden rooms integrated into the cave system. They finally approach one fancier-looking door that was at the end of the cave hall. When they entered the room, it look like the same room as she wake in, but this time it was bigger and had strange religious paintings of women with white hair on the wall, and a lot of candles levitating burning bright red. In the middle of the room, a tall man stood. He had green hair and was wearing a more formal religious outfit than the rest of the members. He was reading something. When he heard something entering he turn his body quickly in a strange fashion at the two who entered.

"Wat, wat wat wat wat, we have you brought me me me" "My lord" a man that guided Rem spoke as he bowed "This girl was chosen by the witch, she received the witches love" For a moment there ware silence and the strange man spoke "Is that so? How, why why why? My brain trembles" Then he turn face to face his guests and came really close to the girl. She jump a bit at his sudden movements. "I see I see I need to be more diligent, I almost missed this opportunity" His smile twisted and he turn away from them. "Bring her to the blessing room, we will test her love" the strange man spoke with authority. The man next to Rem bowed once more "As you command Archbishop"

- The Present-day mansion -

Rem wiped her face with her sleeve and started walking to the kitchen, thinking she had already wasted too much time remembering the past. She used her special spell to hide her book. She felt hopeful for the future. The future her loved book promised and the contact she made with the jealous one.
