Welcome to the third chapter of my Metroid fanfiction.

In this chapter, we shall see how baby Ridley copes with life on his own after being abandoned on Zebes.

As stated previously, I only own Dr. Ripley, Ridley's adoptive mother, and the Federation Marine who defended Ridley. The Cunning God of Death himself is owned by Nintendo, Saturo Okada, Gunpei Yokoi, Hiroji Kiyotake and Yoshio Sakamoto.

Without further ado, Please enjoy the latest chapter of The Cunning God of Death Rises.

A hungry Ridley explores

For many hours, Ridley cried desperately for the ship to come back and return him to his cozy, warm enclosure, rather than leaving him on this seemingly uninhabited planet, sadly to no avail. After realizing that he had been abandoned here for the rest of his life and that none of the soldiers were coming back for him, the little baby sadly crept back to the bodies of the only two people who defended him. There he lay, frightened, alone and confused, wondering quite what he had done to deserve such a fate as this.

Soon, it was nightfall and the infant Space Dragon nestled close to his adoptive mother's side, longing to be protected from the evening chill. Sadly, no matter how hard the little baby tried, all he felt was cold and, with a small but heavy heart, he understood that she could no longer protect him.

After a few days of staying inside the cave, too frightened by his recent experiences to run the risk of exploring his new home, Ridley wondered out into the wilderness of Zebes in search of food. Finding nothing on the grassy surface, he reluctantly went back to the cave. However, when he returned, he found that the cave went deeper into the planet and that there were strange sounds echoing in the distance.

Curious, Ridley ventured deep into the depths of the cave and found a curious assortment of creatures. Some of the wildlife appeared to be strange insects and crustaceans, while others looked like bats and reptiles. In truth, Ridley could not have cared less about what any of the strange creatures looked like. All he knew for certain was that he was starving and that all of these creatures looked very, very tasty.

So, with his belly aching from hunger, Ridley went on his very first hunt. His first few attempts ended in humiliating failure, but the baby Space Dragon was highly intelligent and was quick to figure out what mistakes he had made.

With this knowledge, Ridley soon caught an insect-like creature called a Zeb and happily feasted upon it before going off to find more prey. By nightfall, the hatchling had eaten as much as he could catch and returned to the cave's entrance, where he soon fell fast asleep.

Weeks passed by as Ridley continued to feast upon the creatures in the caves, sleeping each night with a satisfyingly full stomach. However, the creatures soon became fearful of the little baby's deadly bite and had started to hide away from him, out of his reach.

With his food supply swiftly decreasing, Ridley soon began to become desperate and returned to the cave's entrance to find something to eat. He soon happened upon something he had not seen for weeks. A food supply he had never tried before.

Hmm, I wonder what Ridley found. Will it affect him and other life forms at some later point in his life?

As always, I only own Dr. Ripley and the Federation Marine who defended Ridley. I do not own Ridley himself.

I hope you enjoyed reading this chapter and I hope to have the next chapter posted as soon as possible.
