Sarah was now a mum to three kids. A beautiful little girl and twin boys aged 8 Matthew and Samuel; her sister had named her as their legal guardian. She wasn't returning to Washington and didn't really want to stay in her sister's house, so was staying at her dad's until she could find somewhere to live, her next job was to find a job. She was a cop in Washington so would have to find a way to transfer over to CPD. The ivory tower was her next stop on her list, except we know that nothing will be easy, her phone rang just as she pulled up in the parking lot, the boy's school, great.
"Hello, is this Miss Adams?"
"Speaking!"
"Hello, I'm Mrs Dale. Mathew has been in a fight and needs to go to the emergency room, could you please come and collect him and take him?"
"Seriously? Who was he fighting with? I'm on my way ok. I'll talk to you when I get to you!"
"Ok thank you!"
When she arrived at the school Mathew was sat waiting for her, she asked for Sam also.
"Ok I have to get Sophie first, but by the look of it you need stitches, who were you fighting with and why?"
Both boys started talking at the same time and Sarah just stood there. She was totally out of her depth, looking at the teacher for help, she just shrugged and shut the door.
"Thanks for the help! Let's go boys"
After collecting Sophie, they headed to Med. Matts head needed stitches and Sam's hand was starting to swell, the penny dropped as she parked up.
"What happened? And don't lie to me and don't interrupt when the other is speaking! Let's go in and we can talk. Sophie don't run of, OK? – turning to the receptionist - Hey, I need to book these pair in there was a fight and one hurt his hand and the other his face, and then I need to get a large Gin!" both laughed.
"the nurse will call you back when she is ready, can you fill these in please, thank you"
"Yeah, sure thanks! Kids sit still."
Natalie came out and shouted both boys into the back, Sarah and Sophie followed. Just as they went through the door Sophie ran towards a familure figure,
"Miss Hayley, hi, the twins were fighting and now they're broken. Mommy says the Dr will fix them, are you broken you don't look broken!" Hayley had scooped her up.
"OK slow down, I'm not broken its just a cut and it's all fixed. Let's get you to your mom OK?" placing her down and taking her to Sarah
"Hey, oh my god! Are you OK? What happened?" Sarah asked.
"I'm OK honestly, just an elbow to the face. I match this guy, what does the other guy look like?"
"It looks like it was his brother, Sam! He is just in x-ray; I'm taking bets on a boxers break."
"Really? Brothers are the worst. My older two were a nightmare."
"Yeah, Jay and Will were no angels I can tell you. Talking of Jay where is he?"
"Well as soon as he knew I needed stitches he went to get a coffee! He hates needles.!"
The curtain draws back, and Will is standing there, with Sam. Will looks at Hayley who is holding Sophie and then at Sarah who is in shock that she is face to face with Will. This is not going how she wanted it too. Before anyone can speak Jay comes back with Coffee.
"OK this one has a broken hand and this one needs a few stitches in his head.-Will says- How about you little miss, are you OK?"
"I'm fine, Miss Hayley is broken though, look she has a plaster on her face." She kindly pointed out.
"Miss Hayley is fine; she is going back to work and"
"No! Hayley, you need to go home," Natalie interrupted "Jay will make sure of it, Right Jay?"
"Yes, I will." He smiled.
"Nat! seriously I'm fine!"
"Come on Hayley, we will get a pizza and watch Netflix. It will be fun"
"Jay, can I talk to you for a minuet?" Will asked.
Going into the Dr's lounge Will turned to look at Jay.
"Are you dating her yet?" he asks
"No, she is my partner! Look I think things are shifting but I can't have history repeating itself, I need her in my life, I'm a better person with her in my life, she keeps me grounded and she is my best friend. I can't risk losing her. What if she doesn't feel the same and then she gets scared away and I end up with a crappy partner and lonely because she leaves me?"
"Jay calm down. I'm sure she feels the same way, just ask her just kiss her already, I can't sit in Molly's watching you two dancing around this anymore, just talk to her! ok?"
"Yeah, ok maybe I will, look I need to get her home, ok? See you soon? Oh, and I think you should talk to Sarah, I mean how long is it since you guys did some dancing?"
"What do you mean?"
"Sorry Will, I really have to go!" Jay laughed as he walked out of the room. Hayley said goodbye to Sarah and the kids. They both walk out to the car and head to Hayley's apartment. Maybe it was time to clear the air. Tonight, wasn't the night though she needed to rest, and he was going to make sure she did just that. For Sarah the night was far from over, both boys needed sorting and she needed to get childcare for Sophie.
Will sat in the car outside his childhood home, he could see Sarah and Hannah's old house lit up, the windows were open as the summer evening was giving way to a long humid night.
Sarah had seen Will sat in his car. The kids were finally asleep and she took two beers from the fridge and walked outside. Sitting on the top step she smiled as Will walked over from his car.
"Hey, sorry I was just wondering if I should of rang first, I'm sorry for just showing up."
"Its OK honestly, we need to talk. Look Will I should have called you or tried to find you. I was stupid I'm sorry Will, Sophie is yours. I am so sorry,"
"Hey, slow down, take a breath, OK? I know she is; she looks like my Mom. I don't understand why but I do understand, and I want to be there in the future. I want to be in her life, how ever you want me in it. I promise I will be reasonable and help the best I can. Just don't keep her from me again, please." He raised his beer bottle and they hit them together. Things were going to be OK.
