"Now, now, Katerina. Not so fast," Klaus murmured, moving up behind her as he still ran high on the adrenaline that rushed through him after their intense dispute. Katherine just stood frozen at the entrance, her back still against him as she also tried to calm her racing heartbeat. For a split second, she forgot about the pain from the wolf bite.
Klaus licked the blood off his fingertips before brushing Katherine's hair to the side, leaning in to softly speak into her ear.
"I made a witch do a spell that keeps you trapped here at my demand. I could just compel you to stay, but... we both know how that ended up last time."
Katherine felt the hair on her neck rise as he spoke to her, and she knew that he was doing it on purpose. Swiftly, she turned around to face him, their noses only inches from each other as they both looked at each other with beating hearts. "It wasn't entirely my fault... You knew, didn't you?" She paused for a second. "You knew I was on vervain." She knew she was wandering on dangerous paths with assumptions against the immortal, but she had to know the truth.
Eventually, after a short pause, Klaus responded with his regular smirk. "Maybe I did... Maybe I didn't," he teased. "Does it make any difference?"
Katherine glanced at him, curiously. "Why?" she asked.
Klaus just sighed at her, brushing off her question as he took a step back. "Go and change love, you look awful."
Katherine rolled her eyes. "Please, tell me how you really feel," she replied sarcastically, before turning her heel and walking towards the closet once again.
Katherine's eyes widened when she opened the wardrobe doors. She couldn't believe Klaus had brought so much nice stuff for her. On the hangers were small, pretty designer dresses with shoes to match. She looked in the small paper boxes and found pretty diamond bracelets and rings. On the shelves, she found clothes she regularly wore like tank tops, leather jackets, and denim. Klaus must have caught up with her change of style during all his years chasing her. She also found some very revealing lingerie. Lucky for him this was her style, or else she would have scolded him for being such a pervert. She didn't like the fact that Klaus would know what she wore under her clothes at all times either, but it was fine since she didn't have to pay for anything herself.
She was a little worried that there was a hatch, considering Klaus had actually done something nice for her. She almost laughed at the thought of Klaus walking up to the cashier, paying for a pair of red panties. He probably compelled someone to shop for him.
The young woman grabbed some clothes and designer heels and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Twenty minutes later she felt satisfied enough, besides, the water was getting cold. She would have felt better if the godforsaken bite wound would just go away, though. She wrapped a towel around her tan body and admired herself in the mirror before she started doing her makeup with the products Klaus had gotten her.
Katherine stumbled over to the couch where Klaus was sitting, more confident now that she looked like herself again, but still trembling from barely managing to hold herself up. As soon as Katherine stepped into the living room, Klaus put down his book and glanced over at her.
"Katerina, I must say you look a marvelous amount better with the blood off your shirt and your makeup retouched," he said, casting a glance at her newly done curls.
"I'm your prisoner, Klaus. Not your eye candy."
Klaus chuckled at that. "Who says you can't be both?"
"I must say, you have spectacular taste in fashion," she joked.
"Well. Some run-of-the-mill rags wouldn't be befitting of you would they?"
She snorted and took a seat above him. "At least you're right about that."
Katherine frowned when Klaus went straight back to reading his book. She studied it to catch a glimpse of what this book was all about, but the cover was blank so she didn't have a clue. She sighed and dragged herself over to where he was sitting, leaning over his shoulder to see what he was reading.
Klaus cleared his throat, stopping halfway in the act of turning a page as he looked up at Katherine who was analyzing the page carefully. "Do you want something?"
Katherine snapped back to reality, pulling away when she realized how close she had gotten to him. "Jane Austen, huh?" she pondered. "I didn't think of you as the type to enjoy her work."
"There is a lot you don't know about me, Katerina." He simply said, dismissing her attempt at small talk as he went back to reading.
She sighed, feeling her entertainment levels dropping by the seconds. She went back to her chair, but after a few minutes of silence she couldn't take it anymore.
"I'm bored," she complained.
"Not my problem," Klaus answered from behind his book.
Katherine groaned. "It kinda is, you know."
"How so, Katerina." Klaus asked, clearly not too interested in small-talking with her.
"You kidnapped me, the least you can do is entertain me," she complained, testing to see what she could achieve. She was afraid to push his patience too far, but he seemed to be in a decent mood right now.
Klaus sighed in defeat, contemplating for a moment before putting his book down yet again. "Fine."
Katherine smiled satisfied, her eyes following Klaus as he got up from his chair and walked over to the cabinet. He pulled out a bottle of Bourbon, and Katherine could tell by the label that it was produced in Mystic Falls. It made her wonder where she was, really. Where was this house of The Great Klaus Mikaelson located? He proceeded to put two glasses on the table, filling up one of them. This made Katherine raise a brow.
"Not gonna pour one for me?" she pouted.
"You have hands, don't you? Do it yourself."
Katherine rolled her eyes and reached for the bottle. "Fine," she groaned, popping the lid off and pouring herself a glass. She hadn't expected Klaus to actually agree to her request, so having to pour her own drink wasn't something she was going to complain about. She felt a soreness in her stomach as she stretched over the table, and it painfully reminded her of the wolf bite. How he had bitten her. It made her growl in frustration.
"So Katerina, tell me. How's Elijah?" he smirked, taking a sip of his drink.
Katherine gulped at his name, uncertain of how much Klaus knew about the two of them. She had to make sure to not piss him off by saying the wrong thing, or accidentally saying something she shouldn't.
"He's managing," she mumbled, not even revealing half the truth. How he constantly rambled about his frustrations towards Klaus, or how happy he had been when spending time with her.
Klaus continued on. "I'm just glad he hasn\t been causing any trouble for me lately. He must be a changed man," he snorted, not surprised that his elder brother was still doting over the Petrova doppelganger in front of him. He had always fancied her, and Klaus, despite all his attempts, could never understand why.
Katherine didn't miss the sarcasm in his voice as she finished her own glass in one sip. She got up to turn on the stereo next to his cabinet, rummaging through his CDs until she found something she liked. There was no way she was sitting in silence with Klaus, white noise was a necessity.
It seemed like Klaus agreed with her, or so she thought, as he just let her shuffle through his stack of CDs. He watched her as she studied one of the CD covers, smiling to herself when she found one she liked. When Klaus heard the song that started playing, he couldn't help the slight smile that formed on his lips as well. "Ah, Zeppelin. A classic."
Katherine wasn't surprised that Klaus knew him. Of course - it was his CD, and he was also a very famous musician. However, she was surprised at the slight way the corner of his lips turned upwards. It seemed that apart from his horrible taste in priorities, alcohol, bedroom interior, and just about everything else, he actually had decent taste in music.
"Yeah, he was one of my favorites back in the day," Katherine reminisced. Thinking about the fun of the 70s. Back when she hadn't been so… captive.
Klaus didn't answer, but his smile didn't fade at her response as he poured himself another drink and poured some in Katherine's glass as well. She sat back down on the couch and drank a few rounds with him just listening to the songs. It was better than watching Klaus read his book at least. However, the entire evening Katherine had only one main thought on her mind, and that was how much pain she was in because of his werewolf bite. Despite this, however, she would not ask him to cure her and she would not beg. She knew that was what Klaus was expecting of her, and she didn't want to sound weak or desperate - at least not more than she already felt.
The whole scenery reminded Klaus all too much of the last time he had Katerina captive. She had always been drinking or playing music so loud he was worrying about neighbor complaints. She had even invited him to join her once. He had been too busy then, too frustrated with her and everything else, but now it felt good to relax a little.
As Katherine looked out the curtains and saw the rays of dawn shine through, she sensed Klaus suddenly get up from the couch. He went over to the hallway and put on his jacket.
"I have some business to take care of today. Clean up this mess while I'm gone will you," he gestured to the empty bottles and glasses before walking out of the apartment and closing the door after him.
Katherine groaned and put her head back, feeling light-headed due to all the alcohol. This was going to be a bad time.
Too long had gone since Katherine had done anything entertaining. Being locked up in Klaus's place for the second time, spending days doing absolutely nothing wasn't something she wished to repeat.
She spun around on a chair in the kitchen, thinking about how much life sucked when Klaus suddenly stormed through the front door, not mad but seemingly in a hurry.
"Katerina, good you're awake. I'm taking you out," he said as he passed by her, walking to his room to get something. Katherine raised her brow, surprised that Klaus was letting her outside, but not at all complaining. The Bulgarian vampire smiled to herself as she got up and grabbed a jacket.
Katherine followed Klaus as they walked down to his car, but despite his average speed, she couldn't keep up.
"Klaus, wait," she panted.
She was sweating, feeling the pricking venom flush through her blood. She wasn't able to stand anymore as she fell to the ground. Klaus walked over to her and stared at her crumpled body wrenching in pain at his feet. He knelt beside her and held out his arm.
"You didn't earn the blood love, just so you're aware. I'm just not in a patient mood right now, so I don't want to deal with you if you can't even walk," he said as he shoved his wrist against her mouth.
Katherine hesitantly inserted her fangs. Even with permission, drinking from Klaus was scary. She could feel the warm blood run through her veins as it washed away the poison, and after a minute, she felt much better. She decided not to thank him, since he had only helped her because he was impatient, after all.
She walked quietly after Klaus, frustrated because she was out in the open but couldn't run. Right before they had gone out, Klaus had grabbed her shoulders, stared into her eyes, and compelled her to stay close to him whenever they were outside the barrier of the witch's spell. She sat down in the passenger seat frowning, of course he wouldn't forget to compel her. Still, she was curious as to where they were going, probably Klaus's secret torture chamber or something.
Katherine made sure not to fall asleep in the car so she could keep an eye on Klaus to be certain he wasn't going to dump her in a river. She cast a glance over at him. He was all focused on the road, both hands on the wheel. He hadn't spoken to her the entire ride, and they had already been in that car for twenty minutes. She still didn't know where they were going, or what Klaus wanted her there for. Taking her out could mean multiple things. Taking her out on a date, which was unlikely considering it was Klaus Mikaelsonsitting there next to her. Taking her out to eat, which was slightly more likely, since it seemed he was out of blood bags based on the fact that Katherine hadn't been able to find any. Taking her out… Yeah, Katherine didn't want to think about the last option.
"Can we stop for a bite?" Katherine asked casually, knowing Klaus would understand what she was implying. She was honestly starving. Having not eaten since the evening she was kidnapped by this man was one thing, but the bite had drained her of all her lifeforce, and the little sip Klaus had allowed her hadn't helped her regain much of her energy, honestly.
He didn't answer.
She rolled her eyes. "I'm hungry, Klaus. You haven't fed me, remember?"
"Stop sulking."
"Then let's stop for a bite."
"Absolutely not."
"Fine," she muttered, resting her head against the window. She knew there wasn't much she could say to convince the hybrid. He had probably eaten already considering he had been out all day, and most likely didn't care to stop just to feed her.
Katherine struggled to stay awake before her eyes tracked a 'Welcome to Mystic Falls' sign passing the car.
She felt her excitement rise. She was going to see her favorite town again, and there might be someone there who could help her. Even though her annoying doppelganger and her minions lived there, she felt a connection to the place. Perhaps because her former lover was located in that small town.
"What're we doing back here?" Katherine questioned as Klaus stopped the car in front of a way too familiar place. She stepped out of the car and leaned against it with crossed arms.
"I had a change of heart. You and I are going to find the cure together. Because as you said, we have everything we need to find it. And about that tombstone," he grabbed her shoulders and compelled her, "Where is it."
She stared him in the eyes, trying to keep her mouth shut. This was the only thing she had against him, her last leverage. She couldn't just give it up without something in return. Katherine owed it to herself. To fight for her freedom.
She tried to resist the compulsion, but it was impossible, of course. A sigh escaped her lips. "Elijah has it."
Klaus crossed his arms, a stern look on his face. "Of course. You and Elijah have been working together, haven't you?" She nodded reluctantly. "And where is Elijah?"
"I don't know. I was supposed to meet him at the bar when you kidnapped me, remember?" She put her hands on her hips and looked at the Salvatore residence. "Why are we here anyway? Shouldn't we get Jeremy, Bonnie, and the sword, then find the cure right away?"
"Well, love, the sword is in my car. Jeremy is probably with Elena, and Bonnie... We'll figure that out later." When Klaus saw that he grabbed Katherine's attention when he revealed the sword's location, he stared Katherine in her eyes again. "You will do everything I instruct you to do until we get back to my house. And if you happen to encounter a curious lad, you will not spill any information about our plan. Understand?" She nodded and he smiled. "Good girl. Now, I have some business I need taken care of before we can start ahead. When Caroline, the Bennett witch, and the hybrid whom betrayed me did the foolish mistake of leaving me alone in their trap, I called one of my witches to have me freed. Now I'm planning to pay them a little visit. Let's hope this all works out."
