"That was a very delicious meal."
Dressed in a silky white slip, Moka pushed her empty bowl across the table. Her chopsticks were placed neatly across the top.
Kurumu forced down another mouthful. She doubted she would ever get used to the unpleasant taste and texture of natto. Giving up on the meal, she grabbed the chopsticks and placed her bowl in Moka's.
"If you say so."
Kurumu stood up with dishes in hand. The hem of her pink shirt drifted back down to her thighs as she sashayed over to the sink.
"I think Kokoa would have enjoyed it too."
Kurumu snorted as she placed the dishes in the sink and turned on the faucet.
"Well there's plenty left in the refrigerator for tomorrow if she wants it."
Kurumu heard Moka dragging the table off as she cleaned out her bowl, squishing the leftover natto and rice through the sink grating. In seconds she had both bowls in the dishwasher.
"How long did you stay up last night?"
Kurumu closed up the dishwasher and turned the dials. She favored the inquisitive vampire with a smile.
"Not too long. Listened to that first Toshinobu album while writing letters to Nerume and Ms. Kiyoshi. I didn't recognize a single song."
"How can you not know Missing?"
"I don't?"
"Saddle of Meteor. You were Mine. Cry on Your Smile. Oh, What a Night."
"I didn't say the album was bad. I just don't know any of the songs."
"I can't believe you don't know any songs by Toshi."
"Well that was an 89 album. I didn't know most of the songs on your Southern All Stars double album."
"You have to know La La La Love Song on the third CD. It was played all the time on the radio."
Kurumu shrugged, gesturing at the closet.
"We should get dressed."
"Do you think Yukari would get upset if we don't match our lingerie today?"
"You could always call her and ask what she has on."
"That's right. I'll do that."
While Moka hopped over to the entryway to fetch her phone out of her schoolbag, Kurumu strolled over to the closet door and tugged it open. She lingered in the doorway, waiting for Moka. The vampire freed her silver phone and flipped it open.
"Call Yukari."
Moka smiled at Kurumu as she started walking over. Kurumu retreated into the closet, glancing over her clothes. She had no real preference over what she wanted to wear, thinking she might wear the jacket.
"Ms. Akashiya?"
"Rubi?"
"Yes. I'm sorry. Yukari isn't here."
"She left you behind?"
"Oh, Ms. Kurono. Not quite. She didn't come home at all last night."
"Yukari's missing?!"
"I don't believe so. She was still working on that magical device in your homeroom when I checked on her last night. She gave me her schoolbag and told me to go away. That was around eleven or so."
"Why would you leave her in the school alone?!"
"We should get dressed."
Kurumu absently took the phone Moka handed her. The vampire tugged off her white slip and tossed it into her hamper. She selected her indigo, lace bra with the black, satin bow and started putting it on.
"She's still at the school."
"How would you know that?"
"I have a tracking spell on her, Ms. Kurono. I promise you that she has not left your homeroom."
Kurumu frowned as Moka pulled on a navy, lace thong with a white, satin bow.
"You're going to wear thongs?"
"Get dressed, Kurumu."
Sighing, Kurumu shook her head. Still holding the phone, she glanced over her lingerie options.
"Are you sure about that tracking spell, Rubi? I know you're still struggling with the teleportation spell Yukari tried to teach you."
"I'm quite familiar with this spell. How do you think I found Yukari in that city full of people?"
"Wait. Yukari didn't teach you this spell?"
"I had a pinch of Yukari's hair from when she was attacked by our gari gari. I keep a fresh lock of her hair on hand at all times so I can always find her when I want to."
"Whatever. You can't leave Yukari at school alone and defenseless."
"She has a spell to alert her if anyone opens the door."
"Yea, but if she's sleeping, she might not be able to react fast enough to an attack."
"I was also worried so I put a spell on the doors to warn me if she left the classroom. I swear to you that I would have been warned if her location had changed."
Kurumu mulled that over as Moka finished buttoning up her blouse.
"If you are right about her spending the whole night there, Yukari is going to need a change of clothes. Make sure you bring a fresh uniform for her to wear."
"Okay. Should I go wake up Ms. Shirayuki?"
"Sure. We'll probably be waiting over by her door."
"Okay. I'm ending the call now."
"See you soon."
Kurumu handed the phone back to the vampire before she slipped out of her pink shirt and tossed it into her hamper. Grabbing her lacy, crimson bra, she slung it on like a jacket. She clasped the front hooks and adjusted her breasts to fit nicely in the cups.
"Shouldn't we head straight to school?"
Kurumu shrugged as she seized her lacy, crimson thong and pulled it up. She never enjoyed how these felt, but she figured she would share in Moka's discomfort.
"I need to make a quick stop in the commissary and mail my letters."
"Mail doesn't go out until Friday morning."
Kurumu paused for a moment to slip her arms into her blouse.
"If I don't do it now, I'm likely to forget."
"What if Yukari has been kidnapped?"
"This is Yukari. I'd be more worried if it were you spending the night there."
"That's not nice."
Kurumu grabbed her jacket but had no intention of closing it all neatly like Moka had. Slipping her arms into the sleeves, she gestured for the door. After Moka left, Kurumu closed the door behind her. She followed the vampire to the entryway.
"Maybe we shouldn't wait for Mizore."
"Don't be like that."
Moka pouted as she slipped into her shoes.
"She's not going to rush for Yukari's sake."
"I'm worried too, but I don't think ditching Mizore will make things better."
Moka sighed, adjusting her schoolbag as Kurumu put on her shoes. The vampire drew back the deadbolt and pushed out the door, stepping into the morning air.
"I don't think it matters what I do to Mizore. She'll never like me."
Snatching up her schoolbag, Kurumu skipped out of the suite.
"I'm going to run inside the commissary. I'll meet you over at Mizore's suite."
Not waiting to see Moka's reaction, Kurumu hurried across the clearing at a slight jog. She rummaged through her school bag as she neared the glass doors, fishing out her letters and her purse. It took her a moment to free her card from her purse, holding it up to prompt the automatic doors to open for her.
"Morning, Ms. Kurono."
A swarthy man with black hair and dark eyes smiled from behind the register resting upon the counter on her right. He had on a short sleeved, blue and yellow striped polo which made him look even wider than usual.
"Morning, Mr. You. I'm mailing these."
Fixing her schoolbag at her side, she held her letters over the counter. She shivered from his naughty thoughts as he took the letters. He grinned, gesturing to the store while she slipped her lunch card into her jacket pocket.
"Anything else I could help you with?"
"Nope. Have a lovely day, Mr. You."
"You too, Ms. Kurono."
She retreated out of there as quickly as she could, knowing he would admire her skirt as she left. It was worse when she swung by on the weekends in a tank top and shorts. She was lucky they had a woman working this place in the evenings as she doubted she could do her laundry in peace with him around.
"Morning, Ms. Kurono."
Kurumu smiled, waving at Rubi before the witch fell in step with her. The older witch was dressed in a long sleeved, burgundy blouse layered with a black lace mesh forming petals. The blouse had a black, satin bow stitched at the collar. A tiny zipper stretched down from the collar to the small of Rubi's back.
"Morning, Rubi."
The burgundy, pleated skirt matched the blouse, having a similar layer of black lace mesh stitched from thigh all the way down to the hem at her ankles. The witch held a plastic bag and a schoolbag.
"I trust that you have clothes for Yukari."
"Right here."
Kurumu nodded, noting Moka was standing by Mizore's door.
"And you are sure that Yukari is still in her classroom?"
"Even if she has left the classroom by some other means, my tracking spell highly indicates her location has not changed much if at all."
"Is Mizore awake?"
Moka smiled sheepishly as they joined her.
"I haven't tried knocking on the door yet."
"Sheesh, Moka."
Shaking her head, Kurumu knocked firmly on Mizore's door.
"Get up, Mizore. You're going to miss walking to school with Tsukune."
"Do you have to phrase it like that?"
"What else could I say to motivate her?"
Moka frowned, glancing aside.
"We should go."
Reluctant to leave Mizore behind, Kurumu turned to Rubi.
"Do you have magic to open a door?"
"I can if you don't mind breaking it."
"Rubi. I can break this door if I wanted to."
"I'm sorry. I don't understand what you want."
"She meant could you open it without damaging it?"
"I'm afraid spells like that were never taught to me."
Kurumu sighed, knocking on the door again.
"Mizore. Wake up. Either Moka will break the door down or Rubi will set your room on fire."
"I don't know any spells to cause fire."
"What spells do you know?"
Rubi squirmed slightly, clutching the plastic bag to her bosom.
"Mostly spells related to nature."
"Isn't fire a primary element?"
"I guess but I've never been taught those kind of spells."
The sound of a deadbolt alerted them to the door as it was drawn back. Mizore poked her head around the door as she pulled it open.
"Why are you here so early?"
"Come on, Mizore. You need to get dressed."
Kurumu grinned, pushing in through the gap. The snow girl whimpered, slipping away from the door. The naked girl shuffled off into the shadows of her room.
"Are you sleeping naked again?"
Mizore grunted a response, tugging open her closet door and disappearing from sight. Smirking, Kurumu leaned her elbows on top of the half wall flanking the stove.
"You shouldn't answer the door naked, Mizore."
"Why not?"
Kurumu glanced back at Rubi as the witch drifted into the entryway behind her.
"Because it's easy for someone to force a door further open."
"But she knew it was us."
"Some bad people can cast illusions, Rubi."
"I don't think her wearing clothes would change the outcome in that scenario, Ms. Kurono."
Kurumu paused, feeling like Rubi had actually outsmarted her here. Shaking her head, Kurumu glanced over the contents of the room or lack thereof. The only visible thing was a wrinkled futon left in the middle of the room. There was nothing out on her counters.
"You need to get furniture, Mizore."
Moka gasped, placing a hand on Kurumu's shoulder.
"I didn't know she had nothing."
"Yea. Lots of kids are like this, Moka. You've been in Tsukune's room."
"I always thought him more of an exception."
"None of the guys on his floor had a bunch of furniture. Most any of them have is a couch and a desk."
"I suppose you're right. Tora and Kana only have desks."
"It's so much more notable when you have a spacious suite and it's empty. It reminds me of the time we visited Mr. Kaneshiro. When Yukari and I asked for his help with Lord Chiki, his place was empty. As he was born an illegitimate son, his father was only involved enough to send money to keep his mistress quiet. After his mother passed away, his father disowned him the moment he turned sixteen."
"That's horrible."
"Yea. The Headmaster agreed to give him free tuition on the basis that he never tells anyone his true form. Because he refused to tell his true form to some PSC guy, he got hospitalized two years ago."
"Mizore. If there is anything you want, I could maybe buy you something?"
There was a thud from inside the closet and a slight whimper.
"Mizore? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Kurumu nodded, placing her hands on the half wall and leaning back. Moka smiled nervously.
"If you don't mind, I could get you a desk or a table."
The closet door opened and Mizore emerged. She had on her school blouse which was thin enough to see the dark sports bra beneath. Purple and white stockings were pulled up to her knees with a small stretch of bared, pale skin before the start of her plaid school skirt.
"I'm fine, Akashiya."
Mizore paused to pull a drawer out. She retrieved a couple wrapped suckers before closing it up. She prompted them to leave the suite when she came over to the entryway to get her shoes and schoolbag.
"What time is it anyways?"
Kurumu shrugged, rummaging through her schoolbag to fetch her phone out of her purse. As Mizore wiggled on her shoes, Kurumu pulled her phone out and flipped it open. Confirming the time, she thrust her phone into the same pocket as her lunch card.
"Six after seven."
"Way too early. Will Tsukune even be at the usual spot?"
"We're worried about Yukari."
Slipping out of her suite, Mizore frowned at Moka. She turned to lock up her door.
"What's wrong with her?"
"She spent the night at school. Rubi thinks she's still in homeroom."
"She's in school. I'm positive of that."
Mizore shrugged, unwrapping a sucker. She stuck it in her mouth, wadding up the wrapper and stuffing it into her schoolbag with her keys.
"Why would she spend the night there?"
Moka sighed, starting to walk away which prompted everyone to follow.
"She was working on that device to remove me from the rosary. I guess it took a lot of time."
"Hey, Rubi. Can we listen in on Yukari with your tracking spell?"
"I don't have that feature on my spell."
They strolled by the commissary and started down the trail.
"If we're too early, I'll wait for Tsukune. You can all go on ahead."
"I think we can wait a few minutes for Tsukune to arrive."
"Akashiya seems in a rush."
"I suppose we can wait a minute or two."
"Why? Do you need his blood again?"
"No. I mean, yes, I do, but not today."
"Then go. He needs to recover from your physical abuse."
Moka pouted as they neared the point of where all the suite trails converged. She looked like she wanted to say something but not a word was spoken. They veered off to the right and started down the larger trail towards the main school path.
"Rubi. Could you give Tsukune some of your blood today?"
"Can't you give it a rest?"
"I was thinking it would help him recover."
"I didn't wake you up so you could pick a fight."
Mizore glowered, causing the air about her to drop in temperature.
"I suppose I can ask the nurse to help us again. When will he get his fangs? It feels so impersonal the way we are doing it."
"I have no idea, Rubi. It's different for each person that undergoes the Rite of Ascension."
"Don't you think it will be romantic when Mr. Aono takes our blood directly from us?"
Mizore glanced at Rubi whom was holding her hands up to her blushing cheeks while Yukari's bag of clothes dangled from her elbow.
"I would rather receive his bodily fluids."
"Oh? You wish to become a vampire?"
They arrived at the intersection of the main path without anybody explaining Mizore's remark. Moka was a few steps ahead of them, looking about the empty intersection. She grinned and waved excitedly.
"Tsukune!"
Tsukune was several paces down the trail accompanied by Miyamoto whom was wearing his white gi for some reason. Tsukune grinned, kicking up into a slight trot which Miyamoto effortlessly matched. In seconds the pair had joined them.
"Morning, Moka!"
"Morning. And to you, Mr. Miyamoto."
"Morning, ladies."
"I'm surprised to see you all out here so early."
Kurumu released Mizore to thumb off in the direction of the school.
"We're early because Yukari spent the whole night at school."
"What?!"
"Yea. Rubi left her there to work on that project for Moka."
Rubi frowned as attention shifted to her, though her eyes were distant.
"She just left the classroom."
Kurumu paused as the others shared concerned looks.
"Well… that should be normal. She probably woke up and is checking on the time. You know that they don't have clocks in the classrooms."
"Because I would stare at it all day if we had one."
"You shouldn't admit to that, Mizore."
"We should hurry and check on her."
"Should we jog?"
Mizore glanced at Tsukune, shaking her head slowly.
"You'll have to carry me if you do."
"I'll carry you."
Mizore held a hand up at Miyamoto's grin.
"No. My body only responds to Tsukune's touch."
Tsukune blushed and started walking at a brisk pace towards school.
"I think we'll be fine walking."
Moka and Rubi both matched his pace. Grabbing Mizore by the hand, Kurumu nodded at the others. With a sigh, Mizore walked alongside her while Miyamoto stoically hovered nearby.
Moka struck up a conversation about how Tsukune was feeling which also included talk about getting blood from Rubi today. It was nothing which required her attention. She was more worried about Mizore since the air had dipped another degree or two. They said nothing all the way to the point where the forest started thinning out for the pond which was off to their left.
"Is Tsukune improving in your morning training?"
"His movements are much more precise in the short time I've worked with him. He has also figured out how to channel his energy over one weekend. I'm still at a loss how he managed such a feat."
"That's the Headmaster at work."
"Indeed. I understand it had something to do with a whip and Ms. Toujou. I was hesitant to ask for further details as it sounded inappropriate."
"Rubi may have been inappropriate but Tsukune took the training seriously."
"I would expect no less from a woman obsessed with getting spankings."
"Do you think Tsukune can rush in and save Sendou from whatever it is we got up so early for?"
"I think Mr. Aono would rush in and try to save any of you girls. It's all a part of being a man."
"That doesn't make me feel special."
Kurumu smiled softly, squeezing Mizore's hand.
"How many guys are in your karate club?"
"Including myself, technically thirteen. While Mr. Kiyohara is registered to our club, he spends more time looking after his little sister. I find no fault in his decision."
Kurumu chuckled, shaking her head.
"How is your little sister movement going in that perverse club of yours?"
"That is not my club."
"I'll believe that when you denounce any and all interest in Milady, Kokoa."
"I would sooner take my own life."
"Mhm. So how is your following?"
Miyamoto sighed, shaking his head forlornly.
"Sadly so few see the purity of my vision. Most prefer Mr. Kogane's faction as it has less restrictions. But cherishing and admiring girls is never enough. A true man must be by her side at a moment's notice to save her from any pitfalls life may throw at her."
"That sounds like stalking."
"You should talk."
"Exactly. I'm an expert."
Kurumu had to shake her head at the smooth delivery.
"I hope you're not stalking Milady."
Miyamoto laughed heartily.
"Of course not. While I do regard her as the perfect example of what a little sister should embody, there are others more needing of my protection. Like your fellow first years Hitsuji Chiyu from class ten and Akebara Kaori from class twelve."
"Oh? What about Ms. Katahara from class six or Ms. Akegawa from class eight?"
"Mr. Katahara has convinced me of the wisdom of not denying older brothers their birthright. Out of respect for them, I shall stay my hand."
"I suppose that's a relief. Hikari finds her brother overbearing as is. Are only first year girls subjected to this scrutiny?"
"There is some discussion as to whether or not Ms. Tadayo should be included. But that is the lolicon influence disrupting my purpose. While I agree that a short girl with less bounce represents a purer sense of love, I won't turn away a poor girl whom happened to develop a little more than her sister."
"You mean to tell me that your entire grade has only one girl whom comes close to your little sister standards?"
"The Kitamura sisters are the only others that come to mind whom are widely accepted in my faction. And the first year in class ten is the shortest of that trio while our second year is the tallest."
They were nearing the spot where they set up to distribute papers. The perimeter wall was not much further beyond. She took in a deep breath and relaxed.
"Did you hear that Ginei invited Otonashi to the cultural festival?"
"That is news, though I wouldn't expect her to come. It would be difficult for her to arrange things with Mr. Nurari with her living in the human world."
"Isn't he the one that will bring her the mail?"
"I'm unsure if he does. I know that he delivers the mail to addresses in monster villages. I can't say what he does for those that live among humans."
Kurumu frowned, thinking it would suck if Otonashi didn't find out the name of her mother.
"How do you feel about Ginei's engagement to Hajihachi?"
"That it was long overdue. That dog needed to settle down."
"Isn't he too young for marriage?"
"I'm not saying he should run off and marry her. He needed to stop being such a nuisance."
Kurumu nodded as they walked by their spot. She could see the four boards flanking the path up ahead. In a week, the school would post the top hundred students with their rank and score on three of the boards for the three grade levels. The fourth board would have the bottom thirty of each grade level as a public warning to do better. Kurumu had never been on any boards since her first assessment in April.
"Hey. Are you in love with anyone?"
"Ms. Shuzen is the number one in my heart."
"I meant in a serious way. Like having a family with."
He shrugged as they walked by the first of the boards.
"I've never given that much thought."
"Why not?"
"Because I'm only seventeen."
"So your birthday is earlier in the year."
"March seventeenth."
Kurumu frowned as they passed by the remaining boards.
"Shouldn't you be a third year?"
He smiled with a softness in his sky blue eyes.
"I couldn't get it together. Too young."
His eyes became firm and he nodded.
"But I'm stronger now."
There was something there. But seeing how close the school gate was, Kurumu felt she should avoid pushing that direction. Letting go of Mizore's hand, Kurumu tried to think of girls he would know.
"You're in class eleven with Sonoda. Would you date her?"
He laughed warmly, shaking his head.
"No way. I've known Kami since the fourth grade."
"What about Ms. Shikichi whom was your class rep last year?"
"Yea… I don't hate myself enough to do that."
"What's wrong with her?"
"I think the list of what's right with her would be shorter."
Kurumu sighed, seeing Tsukune and the others were nearly at the main entrance.
"Come on. You are a guy. There has to be a girl you want to take on a date."
"I would love to take Ms. Shuzen on a date if she ever conceded her defeat."
"Fat chance of that happening."
"Her fierce independence is both annoying and charming. It's difficult to stay away."
"I sense a future in prison for him."
Kurumu smirked at Mizore, shaking her head. Tsukune was waiting at the door and holding it open for them. She had to quicken her step because Miyamoto had.
"What about the two harpies from choir in Ginei's homeroom?"
"I didn't want to say this when you mentioned Kami because she is a good friend. But I don't think I could do that to my mother. Good day to you, Ms. Kurono. Everyone."
He nodded and slipped through the open door. Kurumu frowned as she joined the others.
"What was that all about?"
"We should find Yukari."
"Yes. I sense Yukari is near."
Kurumu entered the school after Rubi and Moka. She followed Rubi to her aisle since Rubi used one of the cubbies by Yukari's. Tsukune and Mizore weren't far behind her.
"There she is."
Kurumu followed Rubi's finger, spotting Yukari immediately. The girl was walking out of the bathroom with Huang at her side. It was unusual to see the two together so peacefully.
Seeing the two were headed for the stairs, Kurumu quickly removed her loafers and swapped them with her slippers. Hopping to the edge of the genkan, she paused only for a moment to put on her slippers before bounding over to the pair.
"This is so embarrassing. You better not tell anyone!"
Kurumu darted by Huang to snatch Yukari the moment she was up the first step. She pulled the girl back, pressing her head against her bosom.
"There you are! Moka's all worried since you spent the night here."
There was an odd moment that confused Kurumu as she held Yukari to her bosom. While Yukari was known to have her perverse moments, she rarely indulged in having her face pressed to Kurumu's bosom. Usually she would push away and complain but this time Yukari was going lax. Kurumu loosened her hold, petting the girl's head as the others came over.
"Could you let him go?"
"Him?"
Huang waved his hands frantically.
"Her! Sorry. Language mistake."
Moka arrived first, touching her hand to her chest with a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness you are safe. I can't believe you stayed the whole night here."
Tsukune strolled up with Rubi at his side and Mizore in his wake.
"I agree. This place could be dangerous."
Huang laughed proudly as Yukari giggled nonsensically into Kurumu's bosom.
"Don't be silly. My magic could ward off any threats."
Kurumu frowned at him, sharing a glance with the others.
"Did you spend the night here too?"
Huang did another frantic waving gesture.
"No, not at all! I meant her magic. Everyone knows Yukari is a formidable witch not to be trifled with."
Her frown deepened.
"When did you get on a first name basis with Yukari?"
He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Sorry. Slip of the tongue."
Kurumu sighed, shaking her head. She ran her fingers through Yukari's hair which finally broke this spell that had come over the witch. Yukari turned her head slightly and rubbed her cheek against her bosom, causing Kurumu to giggle.
"You must be tired, you perv. Rubi has brought you a fresh change of clothes."
"Absolutely not!"
Kurumu flinched at Huang's sharp protest. He backed up a step when all attention was on him.
"I mean… it would be inappropriate for a young lady to change her clothes at school."
"What are you talking about? We do it all the time in gym."
"Well, yes, but-"
"Come on, Yukari. I bet you need a shower."
"Please don't do this, Kurumu!"
She turned wide eyes on the exasperated foreigner. She released Yukari to thrust a finger at Huang.
"I normally don't mind people calling me by my name, but definitely not when it's coming from a guy that tried killing us and has not so much as offered an apology for all the grief he's caused us."
Huang backed off but remained agitated.
"You don't understand! You can't leave that lecher alone with my body!"
She jabbed a finger in his chest.
"Your body? Look, buddy. Women might be property where you come from, but last I checked, you and Yukari weren't even friends. I suggest you get lost before I make you get lost."
Mizore stepped in closer with one of her hands turned into a mix of icy daggers.
"I agree. This rude behavior and misogyny should not be tolerated."
Huang huffed, wagging a finger at Mizore.
"Oh that's rich coming from you. Everybody would be happier without you around."
Kurumu snapped a hand on Mizore's chest to hold the girl back as she stepped between the two. She could feel the temperature drop as she stared angrily at Huang.
"Go sit in the teachers' lounge until classes begin. Now."
His eyes glazed over and he dutifully walked away from them. Tsukune let out a heavy sigh.
"Was it really necessary to charm him?"
"Would you rather it had broken out into a fight?"
"I guess not."
"Are you okay, Mizore?"
Mizore backed off, watching Huang methodically make his way to the teachers' lounge. Her jaw was clenched but some warmth had returned to the environment.
"He has no right to say that to me."
"You shouldn't let him get to you like that."
"I can deal with it when one of you say it. But I don't want to hear it from an outsider."
Yukari chuckled nervously, taking both bags from Rubi. The older witch patted her on the head.
"I'll be reporting to the Headmaster now. I'll see everyone later."
Feeling the tension drain from the air, Kurumu wandered over to offer Yukari a hand.
"Since you're in my class, I'll stick with you. You need to take a shower."
Yukari looked up at her with wide eyes.
"You want me to take a shower?"
Kurumu laughed, tousling the witch's hair.
"Of course. You need to be fresh for your body measurements today. Come on."
Yukari took her hand and they started off towards the second year wing.
"Could you shower with me, Ms. Kurono?"
"No. Don't be weird."
Kurumu sighed, leaning back in her seat as Ms. Nekonome returned left the room. Ichida was resting his elbows on the podium since Yukari had deferred the role to him.
"So what did Huang want with you after chemistry?"
Yukari turned in her seat with her eyes shining brightly. There was such excitement in her gaze that was so different from her usual self.
"Huang wanted to talk about this cool magic thing that shoots lasers."
"Sounds dangerous."
"Not at all. It's a pretty neat device."
"He's not going to cause us problems again, right?"
"No, no. I'm sure once Mr. Aono joins my family, there won't be any problems."
"This obsession with Mr. Aono is cuter when presented by a little girl."
Kumiko huffed at the amused Juri.
"Childish if you ask me."
Kurumu still felt uneasy. There was something odd about Yukari. It was like her mind had been changed to that of a normal little kid.
"Have you seen this magic thing of his?"
"Oh yes! Huang has it on him."
"Let me guess. It's something stiff underneath his robes."
Abe chuckled at his own remark.
"Probably so. It's too big to put in a pocket."
Kurumu smirked, shaking her head as the boys snickered at her obliviousness.
"I thought you hated this guy."
"Why would I hate him?"
"I don't know. You just seem annoyed whenever you talk about him. I half expected you to hit him with a magic spell when he accosted you the moment we stepped out of lab."
"His presence intimidates me. Don't you also feel the urge to submit in the presence of his masculinity?"
Kurumu frowned at Yukari.
"Are you feeling okay?"
"I'm feeling light as a feather."
Abe snickered, leaning in his seat towards Yukari.
"Did you finish your evil genius immortality project?"
"My what?"
"He's talking about the project you were working on for Moka."
Yukari's eyes lit up at Kurumu's remark.
"Ah yes. I couldn't leave something that fantastic lying about in the classroom unguarded. I gave it to Ms. Huang this morning for safekeeping."
Kurumu felt no better about this the second time she heard it. It had taken Yukari most of the walk to the locker room to explain what she had done with the device.
"I'm still uneasy about you doing that."
"Don't worry, Ms. Kurono. I know she is a dependable and reliable person."
"But what if she uses it?"
"Why would she use it?"
Kurumu frowned at Juri's immediate response.
"I don't know. Maybe by accident?"
"Don't worry. That thing doesn't have enough power to work right now."
"Why didn't you say that before?"
"You didn't ask?"
Kurumu shook her head in frustration.
"If it wasn't finished, you could have said so at the start. I've been worrying all this time that something would happen to Ms. Huang."
"It's kind of you to care about my sister's health."
"Your sister?"
"His sister."
"That's Kurumu for you. She tends to worry about everyone."
Kumiko snorted at Juri.
"She's too much of a busybody."
"I'm also worried that you've been acting strange."
"Strange? How so?"
Juri giggled at Yukari's reaction to Kurumu's concern.
"I think she's smitten."
"It's no secret that she's harboring a crush for Mr. Aono."
"True. But I suspect there might be something there for Mr. Huang."
Kurumu flinched at Juri's deduction.
"No way!"
"Doubt me? What good qualities does Mr. Huang possess?"
"That's easy! He's strong, wealthy and he's not bad looking. His family has connections all across the globe. He's a born leader, destined to take over his clan. He's fluent in four languages and a top notch scholar. All of his private tutors will vouch for his academic excellence."
Juri smirked with smug confidence at Yukari's prompt response.
"I rest my case."
Kurumu bit her lower lip. Juri seemed right here. Yukari would never list a set of qualities like that for Tsukune. She supposed Huang was cute but in a girly way. Then again, Yukari did sort of like girls.
"Real talk, Yukari. Would you ask Huang out on a date?"
Yukari blushed as she laughed nervously.
"Date?! Am I not too young for that?"
"Since when has age stopped you from doing anything?"
"Is that legal in Japan?"
"It's just a date."
"Shouldn't I wait for his proposal?"
Kurumu had to laugh at that.
"Maybe in a traditional sense but there's no reason for a girl not to ask out a guy she likes."
"She says that while she pines away for a man whom will never return her affections."
Kurumu turned in her seat and wagged a finger at Hazumi.
"Oh shush."
"Well… I'm just a little girl. Why would any man say yes to me when there are girls like you?"
Yukari blushed, pressing her two index fingers together as she regarded Kurumu. While not obvious to the others, Kurumu could feel Yukari's lascivious thoughts.
"Stop right there, Ms. Sendou. Most girls will lose with that mentality trying to compare with Kurumu."
Kumiko huffed, nodding in agreement with Juri. She crossed her arms about her chest, leaning back.
"I thought you knew better than to judge the quality of a woman by her looks."
Yukari staggered back in her seat.
"But that's not true. Men are visual creatures. While women can have other qualities, their appearance is their number one asset."
"What the fuck are you talking about, Sendou?"
Senyou grinned at Satsuki.
"She's not entirely wrong."
Abe nodded with a solemn expression.
"Indeed. A bigger bosom is preferable to an invisible one."
"Too true. May as well be dating a dude if flat is your thing."
Both boys grinned, giving each other a thumbs up.
"Bigger is not necessarily better."
"I suppose you're right, Unari. It is about proportions."
"Proportions?"
"You know. The hourglass. Big tits, skinny waist, big ass."
Satsuki rolled her eyes in disgust.
"Typical dog."
"Wolf. How many times will I correct this?"
"Yea. Nobody is attracted to a fat girl."
Kumiko snorted at Abe.
"I guess it's a good thing that we eat our mates before we get fat."
"Could everyone refrain from this demeaning conversation?"
Kurumu smirked at Ichida's drawled suggestion.
"And what's your enlightened opinion about this?"
"I think it's unwise to dismiss the value of physical attraction in a relationship."
"So you're siding with these boys?"
"It's also unwise to dismiss the value of a woman's attitude and intelligence. Nobody wants to spend their life with a dumb, mean spirited woman."
"I could handle dumb if she was gorgeous. Take Kurono for example."
"Hey!"
"Agreed. I would totally bang a dumb chick."
"You're not too bright yourself, Mr. Abe."
"I'd even bang a mean girl, but I wouldn't marry her."
Satsuki snorted, leaning in her seat.
"That's a desperate virgin talking."
"And he'll stay that way with his attitude."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that, Ms. Hineri. His family will help him find a suitable partner. Fairy Tale has devoted many resources to ensuring our monster races don't go extinct."
"Mr. Ichida. You seem quite knowledgeable in this matter. What do you value most in a woman?"
Ichida regarded Yukari calmly. He shrugged after a long moment.
"Looks."
The boys all chuckled as Kumiko rolled her eyes.
"Typical. All men are the same."
"All women are expected to be kind and polite. It's a surprise when they're not. Intelligence only matters if you lack patience. So as Ms. Sendou correctly stated, a woman's appearance is her primary asset."
"I knew it!"
Kurumu shook her head, not understanding why Yukari would be thrilled about this.
"You're acting strange."
"I'm going to agree here. Smitten doesn't cover this."
"What about me do you think is different?"
Kurumu glanced at Kumiko whom simply rolled her eyes without comment.
"You seem more childish."
"Maybe she's always been this way. Normally she doesn't interact beyond what is required of her."
Juri shook her head at Hazumi's response.
"I don't think so. Her tone is so giddy and excitable. That's why I still think she's smitten."
"And I call nonsense. Maybe that Huang fellow zapped her with that magic laser and it caused her to behave like an immature brat while praising the stupidity of men."
"I assure you that I am of sound mind and body, Ms. Hineri. Mr. Ichida agreed with the simple truth that men value beauty the most."
"Maybe men need to change their simple truths."
"Spoken like a girl that knows she can't compete with looks."
Kumiko scowled, grabbing her notebook and throwing it at the back of Abe's head. The boy chuckled as the harmless projectile bounced off his shoulder, falling to the floor.
"What's your opinion on Sendou's behavior, oh wise and honorable Mr. Ichida?"
Ichida smirked at Abe's prompting.
"I think she normally is more mature and withdrawn. I don't know if she's smitten or under a spell, but I do find this change rather refreshing."
"I almost prefer this to sexy Yukari."
Yukari frowned at Senyou's amusement.
"Sexy? What do you mean?"
"That time when you aged yourself a few years. You had decent looks but were still snooty and difficult to work with. Lab today was much more fun with you like this."
Yukari grinned at Senyou.
"I have no idea what you're talking about but I'm happy that you enjoyed lab with me, partner."
Senyou shivered and his grin widened.
"Seriously with this attitude, you're going to make someone a fine wife in the future."
"Down, boy. Any happier and you're tail will start wagging."
Senyou shifted in his seat, confirming that Satsuki was only teasing him about his tail.
"I agree that this behavior is more suitable for me. A girl shouldn't act so violently and cold."
"As far as I know, the only person you're violent and cold to is Mr. Huang."
Yukari gasped at Senyou's amused remark.
"That can't be!"
"Why the surprise? You were the most bothered by that guy even before he attacked us. The only good thing you said about his offer was that you might get to study abroad if Tsukune took you as a wife."
Ichida cleared his throat, straightening up with a glance at his watch.
"Well seeing how we are all so engrossed in our studies for this upcoming exam, I don't suppose any of you are interested in leaving a few minutes early for lunch."
The moment he ended his sentence, Wanibuchi and Yakihara were up on their feet. The door in the back opened, giving Kurumu no chance to glimpse Osakebi before he was gone. Yano shuffled out while Nakai quickly put away the book he had been reading.
"That's our cue. Whom will you be having lunch with today?"
Kurumu smiled at Juri as Hisakata and Tandoku got up from their desks in almost perfect unison. The pair stalked off to the back door.
"I think I'll have to stick with Yukari. She's all sorts of weird today."
Yukari was up on her feet, lingering next to Kurumu's desk.
"Thank you so much, Ms. Kurono. I appreciate your concern."
"No problem. But you're buying if I have to go with you to the school store."
"Oh, that's right."
Yukari's eyes went distant.
"I guess I can try the wares from the cafeteria. It may not be the quality that I'm used to but a hungry man cannot be picky."
"I'll see you after lunch, Kurumu."
Kurumu nodded as Juri took off to catch up with Hazumi and Madosuki. Nearly everyone else had left with the exception of Kumiko whom was chatting with Ichida. Satsuki and Deshi lingered near the front door, waiting on Kumiko. Feeling her lunch card beside her phone in her jacket pocket, Kurumu got up.
"What are you two talking about?"
Kumiko huffed as Kurumu slowly walked over with Yukari at her side.
"My concerns for the cultural festival events. I'm unsure if we should leave Ms. Sendou in charge of an event with her recent behavior."
Ichida waved dismissively as he started towards the door.
"She'll be fine. All of the girl events with captains will have at least three other girls in them."
"That's not the problem."
"Then take your concerns to Mrs. Sunao. I won't do it for you. Good day to you, Ms. Hineri."
As Ichida left the room with purposeful strides, Yukari frowned at Kumiko.
"I assure you that I can handle being a captain. I'm a natural leader."
Kumiko rolled her eyes as she stalked out of the room, prompting Deshi and Satsuki to follow. Taking Yukari by the hand, Kurumu followed after the trio.
"I'm curious but has the brat ever eaten in the cafeteria?"
"I beg your pardon but are you referring to me?"
Satsuki snorted as she stopped at the back of class three. Kumiko and Deshi kept walking.
"Of course I am. You're the only brat present."
"Can you tell Nozomi and Tsukune that I'm going ahead without them? I'm sure Yukari doesn't want to wait for the lunch line to get too long."
"Yea, sure."
Kurumu continued in silence with Yukari until they reached the stairs at the crossover between classes five and eight. Kumiko and Deshi were already down at the bottom of the stairs while the rest of their class was probably in line for lunch. She managed a smile as they slowly started down the steps.
"Hey, Yukari. Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine, Ms. Kurono."
"Then why do you keep calling me by my last name? Did something happen?"
Yukari hesitated, causing them almost to stop.
"I'm sorry… Kurumu. I was trying to sound more mature."
Kurumu bit her lip as they resumed their slow pace to the landing. Her thoughts mulled over the shower this morning and how they had missed half the period due to Yukari's indulgence.
"Yukari. Whom were you thinking about when you played with yourself in the shower?"
Yukari blushed scarlet, shaking her head vehemently.
"I wasn't doing anything!"
"Nobody moans that much from a shower."
Yukari looked up at her with pleading eyes.
"I swear I had nobody in mind, Ms. Kurono. I was… enjoying this body."
"Are you sure you have nothing you want to talk about?"
"Well… do orgasms for women get better with age?"
Kurumu gagged, shaking her head.
"How would I know?!"
"You are older than me."
"I can't remember how orgasms felt last month let alone how they felt years ago."
"Okay. Is it normal for girls not to wear panties beneath their skirts?"
Kurumu grimaced. The fresh clothes Rubi had brought to Yukari had lacked undergarments.
"I'm going to have a word with Rubi about that. She knows better."
"Maybe that's why you all think I'm behaving differently today. It's hard to ignore it when these nipples are so surprisingly sensitive."
Kurumu chuckled as they neared the bottom of the stairs. She squeezed Yukari's hand.
"Look. I know I put a lot of pressure on you. Having you cast illusions to hide the truth about my mother. Putting you in a difficult situation with convincing the whole school that there was never a relationship between me and Tsukune. And the Nagare issue."
"Um… that's okay."
"You can tell me anything. I won't be upset if you were masturbating while thinking about Tsukune."
Touching down on the first floor, Kurumu smirked.
"Though I would find it funny if Huang was on your mind."
Yukari forced a smile as they made their way to the back of the lunch line. Unsurprisingly, Ichida was in the back with Juri, Hazumi and Madosuki.
"I swear on my honor that I was not thinking of any man while doing that."
"You should save your fantasies about Moka for the privacy of your suite."
"Of course. Thank you for understanding."
Juri slipped around Ichida and grinned at them as they arrived.
"I thought you'd be waiting for Aono to get out of class."
"Naw. Yukari's skittish in crowds so I figured it would be better to take her straight to lunch."
"Girls are so lucky. All they have to do is catch the attention of a man."
Juri laughed, tapping Yukari on the nose.
"Better not let Ms. Hineri hear you say something like that. She'll get angry."
"I'm actually intrigued to hear Ms. Sendou make such a conclusion."
Kurumu nodded in agreement with Ichida.
"Yea. Why do you think that's all there is to it?"
"I don't mean disrespect to women, but men have to be the best in order to have any worth. Take Mr. Huang for example. To become the leader of his family, he's had to learn multiple languages while also becoming a top tier martial artist and summoner. When he finishes his high school education, he will have to learn proper etiquette to interact with the leaders of other clans and countries around the world. There's really no time at all for him to enrich his life with frivolities like hobbies and friends."
Juri smirked, giving Kurumu's shoulder a shake.
"See. I told you she's smitten with him."
"No way. Just last week she would have beaten him to a pulp if he had said the wrong thing to her."
"Maybe it's that phase where you pick on the guy you like to get his attention."
Yukari frowned at Juri.
"That's a thing?"
"Of course it's a thing. And you're the right age for it. It's hard to get a guy you like to notice you when you're still looking like a little kid. So you act up to get any attention you can. Miho was totally like that back in the fifth grade with this boy a year older than us."
"Oh? Is this someone we know?"
"Sadly he went to Mimori. Miho's grades aren't good enough to get her into that school."
"You believe I have a crush on Mr. Huang?"
"Maybe not a crush, but you're definitely interested in him. It's obvious by the way you talk."
"Even if this is true, why should Mr. Huang take me seriously?"
"Don't count yourself out, Ms. Sendou. You are the top of the class and we've seen what you will look like in a few years. Mr. Senyou was not exaggerating when he implied you would make a good wife."
Yukari nodded thoughtfully at Ichida's encouragement.
"So… I'm a good catch."
Juri giggled, nodding vehemently.
"Of course you are. I bet you'll be as popular as Ms. Akashiya when you go to college."
Kurumu smirked, shaking her head. With the line mostly comprised of kids with fourth period gym, they were already near the intersecting hallway.
"She'll only be fourteen when she graduates."
"And I'm only fifteen, Kurumu. Are you saying that I don't turn any heads?"
Knowing she had no firm position to argue from, Kurumu remained silent. It was a short time before she spied Akari's trio already holding their position. Kurumu waved energetically.
"Hey, Akari! Nikki!"
Akari grinned with a slight bow and Nikki waved. Kiba had her arms crossed, sulking over something.
"Afternoon, Ms. Kurono. I'm surprised to see you here with Ms. Sendou."
"Yea. She normally meets us out at the tables."
"Our little lady is in love."
Akari smiled politely at Juri.
"Ms. Morisato, correct? We are all aware of her crush on Ms. Akashiya."
"No, this is new. She's infatuated with Mr. Huang from class six."
Kiba frowned deeply as the other two exchanged confused glances.
"But she never speaks well of him when he is brought up."
"Yea. I'd say there isn't a person in the school that she hates more."
Juri wagged a finger at their disbelief.
"Don't forget that she's eleven. It's that age when you pick on a boy to get his attention."
Nikki snickered, gesturing at Kiba.
"She was doing that back in junior high to this boy she liked that's a year younger than us."
"Shut your muzzle."
"She was so in love with him. She bawled the day of our graduation when he turned her down. Said she wasn't girly enough."
"Fuck him. He just wanted a submissive bitch to worship the ground he walks on."
Akari frowned at Kiba, shaking her head.
"Best keep moving, Ms. Kurono. We'll talk more at the table."
Squeezing Yukari's hand, Kurumu guided the witch further up the line.
"So it really is a thing."
Juri crossed her arms and nodded smugly at Yukari.
"Of course it is. Not saying you should ask him out on a date, but there's definitely something going on between you two."
"I think I should eat lunch in the teachers' lounge today."
"Why? Is something wrong?"
Yukari smiled sheepishly at Kurumu, slipping her small hand out Kurumu's.
"I need to talk to Ms. Huang. Make sure the device I left with her is okay. You understand, right?"
Something felt off, but it made sense.
"Okay. I'll tell the others."
The bell could not have sounded any sooner. Kurumu let out a sigh of relief, struggling with Sakamori. It would have been nice to work with the sewing machine today but Sakamori was always like this. And Orochi could not handle her so the only way Kurumu could participate in this class was if one of the girls from another station came over to help.
"Asuka. Take her from me. Please!"
Asuka snickered as Kurumu lugged the murmuring redhead to the aisle between their station and the next. The blond was the odd one out today since there were only two sewing machines per station. Levers on the sides of each station could be operated to allow ivory sewing machines to be swung up from below and secured with a locking mechanism.
"I guess I can."
Shaking her head, the blond strolled over to intercept them.
"You're a life saver. I'll see you in gym."
The moment Sakamori's weight left her, Kurumu darted for the open back door. The computer class across the hall was letting out. She glanced off to her left as she drifted to the crossover on her right which was near the front door of the sewing room. She saw no signs of Yukari.
"Could you please unhand her?"
Tora's voice brought her attention to a trio walking steadily by the disciplinary room. Tora was keeping up with Huang whom was dragging Yukari away by the wrist. Sensing trouble, Kurumu jogged to the other side, passing by the bathrooms and nurse's office.
"Huang! Stop!"
Huang glared at her but complied with her request.
"I don't have time for this."
"We have body measurements today Mr. Huang. It's not something Ms. Sendou should miss. Whatever business you have with her can wait until after school."
Huang tensed up, shaking his head vehemently.
"No. It has to be done now. I'm sure they'll let me reschedule if I miss gym."
"But you had gym fourth period."
Huang let out a frustrated sigh. He let go of Yukari, gesturing at her.
"Give me a few minutes alone with this brat."
Kurumu shivered at the thought Huang would consummate his relationship.
"She's eleven, Huang. Even if you signed that paper, I'm sure you can wait a few years."
The look of confusion on his face was genuine. Yukari timidly retreated to Kurumu's side, clinging to her.
"Paper? What paper?"
"Thank goodness. Yukari was bragging after English about how easy it was to get a marriage certificate in Japan. I was starting to worry that she actually got one and was going to have you sign it."
"Why would she get a marriage certificate?"
"Well we started to suspect that she might have a crush on him due to how she talked about him in class and in the lunch line. I didn't think anything about it until she said that stuff about marriage certificates."
Huang shot Yukari a scathing look that made the little witch cower.
"You wouldn't dare."
"Well… I do have a crush on you."
Huang turned scarlet either embarrassed or furious. Maybe both. He wagged his finger at them while making indecipherable noises. It might have been Chinese or simply gibberish. After a long moment, the trembling boy clenched his fist and calmed.
"Did you sign a marriage certificate?"
Yukari laughed nervously.
"Of course not."
"Where did you leave this marriage certificate you did not sign?"
Yukari laughed again, waving a dismissive hand.
"You're being paranoid. I only got some information about it."
"I don't trust you."
"Think of it this way. If we get married, that might convince Mr. Aono to join the family."
Huang quivered in barely contained fury.
"Give me ten minutes alone with Ms. Sendou. That should be enough time to set things straight."
"What do you plan to do with her?"
"Something that will make her tear up that marriage certificate."
Kurumu hugged Yukari protectively.
"Not a chance, Huang. I'm not letting you harm her."
"I'm not going to harm her."
"I'm not going to let you take advantage of her either."
"Take advantage of her?! What are you thinking?"
"I agree with Kurumu. If Tsukune suddenly declared that he needed private time with Yukari, we would also have to step in. She's only eleven."
Huang staggered back in disbelief.
"Wait. Tora. Kurumu. You both think I'm going to do that?!"
"What else could you possibly need her for in private? If it's just a matter of talking, you can do it now."
"No way! You'll all laugh at me."
"I don't think they'd laugh. While I'm not in the habit of comparing in the locker room, I'm sure it's bigger than average."
Huang's eyes widened as he stepped in menacingly.
"Don't you dare say a thing about that! When I get inside that body, you are so going to regret this!"
Kurumu slapped a hand on his chest.
"Go talk to your sister about how you need help. No man should threaten a little girl with sex."
His eyes glazed over her and faltered back a step. With a slight wobble, he retreated down the hallway towards the front of the school. Kurumu let out a huge sigh of relief, shaking her head.
"Unbelievable. He practically admitted that he was going to rape her."
"I don't think he meant it like that, Ms. Nazohashi."
Tora smiled, patting Yukari's head.
"It's nice that you are so forgiving of him, but I think you are better off avoiding him from now on."
Kurumu nodded, starting off towards the computer labs with Yukari clinging to her side. Tora fell in step, effortlessly matching their pace.
"I agree. He's been acting way too familiar with us."
"I don't think he's that bad of a guy."
"Did you actually get a marriage certificate?"
Yukari pressed her head against the side of Kurumu's breast, making it difficult to walk.
"I'm surprised how easy it was to get. They have blank ones in the admissions office."
"Seriously?"
"She told us about this. I'm hoping she didn't sign it."
"I did but Huang's a foreigner. His sister thinks it won't be as easy as just getting a few signatures."
"You spoke to his sister about this?"
"I left the form with her. She said she'll take care of the witnesses and her brother for me."
"Oh my God, Yukari. Are you actually wanting to marry this guy?"
Yukari flinched at Tora's disbelief as they neared the stairs.
"Well… I do like him."
"I'm hoping it isn't as easy as you think. You're eleven. I bet a girl your age needs your parents to sign that form. There's no way your father will go along with this."
"You're a good friend, Ms. Kurono. Can't you charm some witnesses for signatures?"
"What?!"
"Ms. Sendou's parents will be here for the cultural festival this weekend. It's the perfect chance."
Kurumu sighed as they drifted to the right and started down the stairs.
"I'm not charming your parents for you."
"And what's with referring to yourself as Ms. Sendou?"
"She's been like this all day."
"While you're at it, could you also charm Mr. Huang the next time you see him? Things will go much better if he's not around to mess things up over the weekend."
"I can't do that. He has exams."
"You're so kind, Ms. Kurono. Maybe just charm him to stay away from me. That would be enough."
"That's an odd approach. Are you wanting to marry this guy or not?"
Touching down on the first floor, they were greeted by the chatter of many male voices. Several young men walked by them, intent on the exterior door behind them.
"I'll repeat myself again for all the boys arriving from shop class. While your measurements are being taken in the practice gym, you have to change into your gym clothes first. Since the girls are in the large gym, you have to enter your locker room from outside."
Kurumu grinned at the sound of Rubi's voice. She spied the witch standing by the library, holding a megaphone in her hands. She was dressed in a short sleeved nurse outfit which bared much of her creamy thighs. A white hat with a red cross rested upon her dark locks.
"I repeat. Please do not try to enter the large gymnasium where the girls are being measured. If anyone is caught doing this, you will spend the rest of the month in detention. We already have one silly boy whom thought he could get away with peeping last hour. We don't need another."
"Oh dear. Last hour was Senior's gym period. You don't suppose he tried to get measurements again?"
"When you do return to the practice gym, line up according to your homerooms. Your gym instructors will help with the process. Remember that this is not simply about height, weight and flexibility. We are also checking on how human your transformation is."
Hastening her step, Kurumu walked by the bathrooms and waved her hand high.
"Rubi!"
Rubi turned with the megaphone to her lips.
"Ms. Kurono!"
The device squealed from the excited response. Rubi blushed, lowering the megaphone as Kurumu crossed the remaining distance with a huge grin.
"So whom was the lucky pervert?"
Rubi shook her head with a look of disappointment.
"Believe it or not, but that nice Mr. Miyamoto whom walked with us this morning was the culprit. It shows that you can never know whom you can trust."
"I wouldn't act like it was unexpected. The guy did say he was keeping an eye on Kokoa and they do share that gym period."
Rubi gasped.
"Would you know it, but it was Ms. Shuzen's sharp sense which led to his discovery. He was spying on them in the crawl space beneath the stage."
"I'm just relieved it wasn't Senior."
Kurumu grinned, gesturing at Rubi.
"What's with the getup?"
"Ms. Tsumugi loaned it to me so that I could help with the measurements."
"Are you helping with the boys or the girls?"
Rubi sighed, her shoulders sagging.
"Unfortunately the girls. I wanted so much for Tsukune to take my measurements."
"Aren't you the one supposed to do the measuring?"
"It would be so much more fun to wrap this tape round and around my body."
Tora rolled her eyes, walking away.
"Don't have too much fun."
"Oh, one more thing."
Kurumu paused, regarding Rubi inquisitively.
"This exam also includes your hair color. Try your best to change it."
Kurumu frowned as she walked off with Yukari glued to her side. Changing hair color was such a difficult thing to do. It was like changing her face. She supposed she could do it long enough for the physical, but it would not be as easy as suppressing her wings and tail. Since she had not associated those with her identity for years, it had become natural to put those away once she figured out how to do it.
There were only a few boys lingering about in the cafeteria. All the tables had been folded up, giving the place a more empty feeling. Squeezing Yukari's hand, Kurumu trotted to catch up with Tora before the sphinx got too far away. She smiled at the girl, saying nothing as they crossed the rest of the cafeteria.
"Hurry along you three."
Kurumu flinched at the prompt greeting from Coach Takaku whom guarded the door they had entered. She saw the other gym instructors scattered about the gym, close enough to a door to react if any guy was foolish enough to walk through. Coach Hoshineru hovered off to the right, watching over the other door to the practice gym and one of the exterior doors on that side. Coach Kibashiro guarded the door to the cafeteria behind the registers and an exterior door on that side.
A few girls were seated in groups in the center of the gym in front of Ms. Amekoshi, the young instructor whom was the swim club advisor. The blond with curly, shoulder length tresses waved at their approach.
"Change into your gym clothes and line up with your homerooms. We'll be taking your measurements up on the stage."
With a glance, Kurumu noted Kumiko and Madosuki were the only two present from their homeroom. In fact, most of the girls whom had choir as an elective were present. For some reason, Hiboshi and Irewata were not with Chousei and Natsudera.
Coach Yaisoku lingered near the passage flanking the stage on the girls' side. The other passage for the boys' side was being monitored by Coach Kanatoko. With how many entry points the main gym had, it was surprising that they were having the girls in here when the practice gym had much less access. With all the gym instructors delegated to security, it was obvious why Rubi had to help Ms. Tsumugi.
"Is this really okay?"
Kurumu frowned at Yukari's remark as they started down the passage. Deshi passed by them with a trio of familiar seniors. Horie was the shadowy haired valedictorian from track. Netsukaze from gymnastics was the short haired girl with the fiery rat tail. The dark haired, ponytail girl was from the softball team.
"I mean… there's other girls in the locker room."
Dokiniji slipped out, offering them a smile. Amesuki followed out the next second with her faint blond, wavy hair brushing her shoulders. Both girls favored the left side, allowing them to pass.
"That's kind of the point, Yukari. It's the girls' locker room."
"I know that. But… my heart's not ready."
Kurumu laughed, shaking her head as she tugged the stumbling girl through the door Tora held open for them. Girls were giggling and changing into their clothes in the bank of lockers immediately on their left. The sound of showers and laughter mingled in the air. She staggered a step when Yukari became rooted in place the moment Suzume darted across the aisle wearing nothing at all.
"Oh my sweet heaven. She's naked. Why is she naked?"
Kurumu frowned, letting go of the witch. Yukari's eyes were wide as she looked about in awe.
"Yukari. She probably wanted a shower before getting measured. There's nothing special about it."
"What's wrong with her?"
Kurumu shrugged as Tora wandered into the aisle on their left. Tora started undoing the toggles of her sleeveless PSC jacket before coming to a stop in front of a locker.
"Look at all the breasts. So much."
Yukari staggered forward so that she could look into the next bank of lockers. Frowning Kurumu placed a hand on the witch's shoulder, noting Yukari's fixation on Juri whom was stripped down to her cream bra. Suzume was still butt naked as she toweled herself off in front of a locker while Hatoko pulled her shirt over her beige bra.
"Don't worry, Yukari. I'm sure you've grown a little bit."
Yukari leaned back, clapping her hands together as if in prayer.
"Thank you so much. I can finally tell my mother that I've grown."
Kurumu turned Yukari about by her tiny shoulders. There were tears in her eyes.
"Are you crying?"
Yukari sniffled, bringing the back of her wrist up to dab at the corner of her eyes.
"I'm so happy to be a woman."
"Don't be stupid. Get dressed, moron."
"Can I stay a girl forever?"
"What is this all about?"
Kurumu shrugged as an amused Juri walked over. The sprite had on her red bloomers while her gym shirt hung over her forearm.
"Yukari's being weird."
Yukari stepped forward with her hands up.
"Do you mind if I touch them?"
Juri laughed as the witch's hands crept closer.
"I guess. Nobody's asked to touch them before."
Yukari whimpered the moment her hands cupped the slight swell of Juri's bosom.
"So soft. Bigger than mine."
"I hope so. I'd cry if I was flatter than an eleven year old."
Yukari started squeezing, prompting Kurumu to swat the girl in the back of the head.
"Stop it, you perv."
Yukari whimpered, releasing Juri's breasts to rub her head. Juri giggled, shaking out her shirt before tugging it over her head.
"I didn't think she would squeeze them."
"Well, I'm going to get changed. Are you going to behave yourself?"
Yukari looked about with the same awe as Juri followed the Unabara twins out of the locker room. Hatoko remained seated on the bench, teasing Suzume as she dressed.
"Do you know where my locker is?"
"You can't be serious."
"That heavenly softness erased my memory."
Kurumu snorted, poking her head around the bank. Tora was stripped down to her lingerie. The sphinx's tanned skin was complimented by a dark purple bra. Her rump was covered by a dark purple boyshorts patterned with yellow stars and a yellow lace hem.
"Hey Tora. Does this brat have her locker near yours?"
"Her locker is right there."
"I'm leaving her with you then. Make sure she doesn't molest anyone."
Yukari seized Kurumu by the arm, shaking her head.
"I don't remember my locker combination."
Kurumu shared a look of disbelief with Tora. The bell sounded the start of their gym period.
"Hey, Kurumu!"
Kurumu nodded dumbly as Suzume passed by her on the heels of Hatoko. She absently drifted closer to Tora to avoid being in the way of other girls.
"I didn't think you forgot anything."
"I know. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Maybe it's best I stay in here."
"Is Ms. Sendou that desperate to avoid having her measurements done?"
Hiboshi strolled over to a stop, placing her hands on her hips with confidence. The diminutive kitsune was probably the closest girl to Yukari's size in their gym period.
"Thank goodness you're here, Ms. Hiboshi. You wouldn't happen to have a spare set of gym clothes."
Hiboshi glanced at Irewata whom sashayed over to join them. The buxom girl draped her arms over the shoulders of the smaller girl, clasping her right wrist at the slight swell of Hiboshi's bosom.
"I do. What do you need them for?"
Kurumu sighed, leaning against the lockers. Tora was wiggling her shorts up to fit snugly about her waist.
"Yukari claims she forgot her locker combination."
"An obvious ploy. I'll loan you a set."
"Netsuki is eager to prove that she isn't the smallest in our grade."
Yukari glanced aside, pressing her fingers together.
"Do you mind that I won't have anything on beneath your spare gym clothes?"
Hiboshi blinked as Tora cast Kurumu an inquisitive glance.
"That one is on Rubi. Yukari spent the night at school and that silly woman didn't bring Yukari a full set of fresh clothes like we asked her to. The only thing she's got under her blouse is this black camisole I didn't even know she owned."
"I suppose it's no big deal if you wash them before giving them back."
"You're very bold, Ms. Sendou. I would never dare come to school without panties beneath my skirt."
Hiboshi detached from Irewata, grabbing Yukari by the wrist.
"Come on, Ms. Sendou. I'll get you dressed."
"What about me, Netsuki?"
"Go line up with the others. I don't need your help."
Tora tugged her shirt over her head as a pouting Irewata headed for the door. Yukari let Hiboshi guide her off as Kurumu let out a sigh of relief. She shook her head while Tora smoothed out her shirt.
"Don't you also need to change?"
"Yea. Come with me?"
Tora shrugged, following after her as Kurumu made her way to the bank of lockers closest to the exterior door. She wandered over to her locker, grabbing her padlock and spinning the dial in the sequence to release the latch. In moments she had it off and her locker open.
"Has she been like this all day?"
"Yea. Do you think we need our shoes?"
"I doubt it."
Kurumu slipped out of her jacket. She folded it up and stuffed it in after removing her gym clothes. Tossing her clothes on the bench, she started undoing the buttons to her blouse.
"She was acting like she had never seen a girl in lingerie before."
"I know. For a short while I was thinking Huang might have cast a spell on her or something."
"She signed a marriage certificate for him."
Kurumu folded her blouse up nicely once it was off, carefully placing it in the small locker. She reached to her side, loosening the clasp of her skirt so it came off easily.
"I'll ask Ms. Tsumugi to check her for a concussion when she does my measurements."
Kurumu nodded, placing her skirt inside the locker. Closing the compartment, she fished the lock through the opening and secured it.
"Yea. I was thinking we could have Rubi check if she's been cursed or something. She wanted me to shower with her this morning. Not that I haven't bathed with her before, but who shares a shower?"
"Maybe Ms. Hiboshi is right. That she's worried about this physical exam. I know she isn't happy about being so much younger than the rest of us."
Kurumu shrugged, smoothing out her shorts. The good thing about wearing a thong in these was there was absolutely no trace of a panty line.
"I've thought about that too. She finished that magical device to move Moka's soul last night. She only needs a power source to make it work."
"I guess that's good news."
Kurumu nodded before tugging her shirt on.
"Yea. The only thing left is to find a body to put her into."
"We should get going. I think we're the last ones in here."
Kurumu smirked, fairly certain that they were. She followed Tora whom stopped two banks down.
"Is she ready?"
Hiboshi huffed, shaking her auburn curls as she strolled out ahead of a timid witch. At least Yukari was dressed appropriately.
"She's weird. She touched my boobs."
"I'm sorry, Ms. Hiboshi. I lost my balance."
"Yea, right. You just wanted to compare sizes."
Yukari blushed, glancing aside.
"Well… they are about the same."
"No they're not! Mine's much bigger than yours! You'll see."
With a huff, the kitsune turned about and strut for the door. Kurumu shook her head as she offered the witch her hand. Yukari promptly took it and they walked with Tora to the door.
"You're such an idiot, Yukari. Just because you're a girl doesn't mean you can go around squeezing the boobs of other girls."
"I thought she only did that to Moka."
"She's done it to me before."
Tora nodded thoughtfully as they exited the locker room.
"Hmm. She's never touched mine."
"Probably because she knows you'd get upset."
"True. Are you sure you're okay, Yukari?"
"No, Ms. Nazohashi. I'm perfectly fine."
Everyone was lined up in their classrooms though it looked like one of the senior classrooms were lined up at the boys' side passage. Juri waved animatedly from where she stood among their classmates, catching Ms. Amekoshi's attention. The woman turned and smiled.
"There's three of our missing five. Ms. Nazohashi."
"Yes, Ma'am?"
"Is Ms. Shirayuki getting changed?"
Kurumu's eyes widened as she glanced back at the locker room.
"I didn't see her, Ms. Amekoshi."
"Oh dear. What about Ms. Zanzou? Is she in the weight room as always?"
"I'll go check."
Kurumu shook her head as Tora turned about and jogged back to the locker room. It had not crossed her mind to check the weight room for the eccentric second year whom aspired to be a manly man.
Holding Yukari's hand, she guided the trembling girl to their classmates. Satsuki stood at the back of the line with her arms crossed below her bosom.
"About time you got here."
"When did you get here?"
"I walked by you three while you were chatting with that witch lady with the megaphone. You took your time getting dressed."
"Yea. Yukari was having problems."
"What's wrong with the brat now?"
"I want to stay a girl forever."
Satsuki frowned at Yukari.
"I don't think you have much choice in that."
Kurumu chuckled, shaking her head. Letting go of Yukari's hand, she patted the witch on the head.
"I hope you don't mean you don't want to grow up. That's so unlike you."
Yukari touched her chest, staggering back a step.
"Promise me that you'll protect me from Huang?"
Kurumu frowned, sharing a glance with Satsuki.
"Can't you protect yourself?"
"I guess this is better than her weird claim of wanting to marry him."
"When did that happen?"
"It's been a weird day."
Kurumu smiled softly, running her fingers through the hair of the trembling girl.
"Hang in there, Yukari. We should bathe together tonight. I just realized it's been awhile."
Yukari closed her eyes, tottering slightly on her heels.
"Please may this day never end."
"What a goofball."
Juri slipped around Endo to poke Satsuki's shoulder.
"I'll say. She squeezed my boobs in the locker room."
"Why would she do that?"
"Don't know, but it was kind of cute."
"Well… she is your cleanup duty partner."
"Are you jealous?"
"Jealous?! Why would I want that brat to squeeze my boobs?!"
Yukari made an unearthly screech as her eyes went wide and vacant. Kurumu immediately caught the girl when the witch pitched forward. Her body was limp in her arms as a thud sounded nearby followed by the clink of a stone and another object.
"What the?!"
Lying on the gym floor nearby was Huang. A pebble rested within reach of his left hand while the device Yukari had been working on these past few days was near his right hand. His eyes were rolled back in his head as he lay still on his back.
Several girls shrieked in alarm as many pounced back away from the sudden threat. Satsuki strolled over and hunkered down beside the boy, prodding him with a finger.
"Don't know how he got in here, but he's out."
A surge of explanations rushed through Kurumu's mind. Suddenly this whole day made sense and she felt stupid for not thinking of this possibility before. Of course Huang would lie about the device not having the power to work. But hearing that from Yukari's voice had convinced her to not question it.
"We need to recover a signed marriage certificate from Ms. Huang."
