"Good morning, everyone! Nekonome Shizuka here, filling in for our master of ceremony until she can get dressed for the occasion!"

Mrs. Nekonome waved at the crowd gathered in the bleachers. She was standing on a platform built in the center of that space between the soccer field and the track lanes. Sporting a red, short sleeved shirt and a yellow bandana tied about her right arm above her elbow, the teacher pranced about in loose black shorts with a cordless microphone in hand. Her voice carried to the crowd through the speakers mounted on the sides of the bleachers and to the front corner posts of the platform.

Two more corner posts jutted up from the back of this platform with a long sign mounted between them. Nine squares were defined, representing the different years and gym periods. Presently each section had a placard indicating a score of zero.

Cords lined with triangles of red and green stretched from the tops of these back posts to a pair of heavy posts skirting the line that marked the start of the soccer field. A tarp was supported between these columns. Two tables were set up beneath this tarp at which the Headmaster calmly sat behind one of them. Ms. Tsumugi was stationed at the other, ready to provide medical attention as necessary.

"Autumn is such a peaceful season. It's also that annoying time of the year when I mysteriously gain some weight."

Kurumu stood with her gym group in their assigned portion of the bleachers at the far west end. They all wore red, short sleeved shirts and gym shorts. The gym shorts for guys were normal red shorts while the girls' gym shorts were more like spandex. Some students wore their yellow bandanas about their heads though Kurumu had tied hers about her left arm.

"It's also the time for festivals and fun. I'm so happy that you have all come out here today to show your support. I want to thank you all for being here."

Kurumu stood in the front row with Asuka, Taijin and the other teachers of their group. Due to her tiny size and leaving her hair down, Mrs. Sunao could have passed as a student. It was surprising to see that she had also donned the tight, red gym shorts. Ms. Shuzen was stoically standing nearby, wearing a pair of black slacks. The grinning English instructor, Mr. Nagamushi, had his eyes hidden behind a pair of square shades, rocking a pair of green track pants with the school insignia.

Many students were seated further up in the bleachers with their friends and families. Some visitors had even made banners to support their kids. Their science teacher, Mr. Hakuru, was chatting four rows up with Yukari and her parents. Mizore was perched in the top row with her mother, holding binoculars and a white umbrella to shield them from the sun.

"Well we can't delay any longer. Without further ado, let the ninth Yokai Academy Sports Day begin!"

Several cheers responded to the teacher's announcement. Kurumu absently reached out to touch Mrs. Sunao's shoulder.

"Ninth? You weren't doing this when you were in school?"

"Sports Day was something the gym teachers pushed for the year after I was hired."

"Could the participants in the hundred meter dash line up at the starting line? We will be starting your race at eight on the dot!"

The representatives from each gym group trotted off from the bleachers. Being on the west end, the stocky, bald Tatakai was the first to join Coach Kibashiro at the starting line. The track coach was holding a white flare gun in her left hand. Her right hand fidgeted with the whistle dangling about her neck by a yellow cord. Like the other gym instructors, she wore a black and white shirt designating her status.

"Hey, Buddha! Don't lose!"

Tatakai frowned at Asuka's wide grin.

"I'm not Buddha!"

The other first years in red shirts were first to join the bald boy at the line. Yamadachi had tied his purple bandana across his brow, contrasting sharply against his wheat tresses. The other dark haired boy was unfamiliar to her but was wearing the orange bandana signifying Moka's gym group.

A tap on her shoulder drew her attention to Kagami, whom hopped off the bleacher above them to squeeze in between Kurumu and Asuka. The girl draped an arm around her waist, leaning into her.

"It's going to be a long day."

"Yea. Our event isn't until after lunch."

"Mine is the last event of the day. At least Yuu doesn't have to wait forever for hers."

"It's still two hours before mine is scheduled."

Standing on the other side of Taijin, Masataka sighed dramatically. With her bandana tied below her right sleeve, the girl fussed with her greenish blond tresses.

"This is so lame."

"I totally agree. Sports Day isn't something they should make high school students do."

Kurumu frowned at Utsumi whom hovered beside her friend.

"Did you guys have Sports Day in junior high?"

"School is about academics. It's not like we would ever be allowed to compete in professional sports."

"Exactly. Unless you have family in attendance, there's no reason to get excited over this."

Asuka stepped out and gestured broadly at Masataka.

"You can say that but I'm still fired up!"

"Because you're an idiot."

Asakira strolled over, regarding the pair of undines imperiously.

"I hope you don't think I'll tolerate you two slacking off. Even if your families aren't present, there are still many fans cheering for us."

The gun fired, setting the boys gathered on the line into a blur of motion. Four of the six older boys in this dash were okami whom had been at Nikki's birthday party. The guy with the fluffy, sienna locks wearing the blue shirt with a purple bandana tied about his neck was Horiguchi, a second year in the cycling club. Another guy about Tsukune's height was Jiseki Kowa, president of the cycling club. He had his dirty blond hair swept back with his yellow bandana tied about his brow.

The other two were seniors from the soccer team. The guy roughly Ginei's height with the shaggy black hair was Shimobe. He wore a green shirt and had his orange bandana tied to his left arm. She could not recall the name of the taller guy with the purple bandana.

These four were putting the first years in their dust but were at least three strides behind some sandy blond haired guy wearing a blue shirt and yellow bandana. She had seen this short, spiky haired guy in the halls but had never been introduced. In seconds, he crossed the finish line ahead of the rest.

It was too close to say whom took the next four places. The unfamiliar first year from Moka's team looked like he had beat out some stocky, dark haired kid wearing a blue shirt and orange bandana.

"Our Buddha took last."

Kurumu laughed as Tatakai finished at least two strides behind Yamadachi. She wondered if Senyou would have stood a better chance against his fellow okami.

"And the winner of our first event is Mr. Todoro from the second year yellow team. In second from the third year orange team is Mr. Shimobe and Mr. Jiseki from the third year yellow team claims third."

Whistles and cheers answered Ms. Nekonome's proclamation.

"Now this is where we will be splitting up. Kickball will be held on the baseball diamonds. The water balloon fights will be held in the tennis courts. And Capture the Flag will be here on the soccer field. A teacher from each gym group will be stationed at the bleachers of each of these team events to indicate the seating area for the fans of that group. Everyone, please disperse accordingly."

The hoots and hollers intensified as Rubi pranced up onto the stage in a daring outfit. With a grin, Ms. Nekonome handed over the microphone to the witch.

Black heels graced Rubi's feet. Fishnet stockings stretched up the entire length of her legs, slipping beneath the daring garment. It was like a swimsuit bottom, so those stockings had to at least go up to her waist since that much of her leg was exposed.

It was hard to say if the bottom of that outfit was part of the top. The top portion seemed to hang over the bottom at the waist and had two buttons in the center. It parted at the top button, sweeping up in two black swaths of fabric which barely held Rubi's bosom in place.

There was considerably more fabric in the back of this sleeveless outfit. It swept down below the waist in a pair of coattails like the old, fancy clothes foreigners would wear in the movies. A puffy white ball was mounted at the top of her rump in the center. Judging by the hairband she wore which included a perky pair of black bunny ears, Kurumu surmised this was some sort of bunny girl outfit.

"Thank you, Ms. Nekonome. Sorry it took so long. Ms. Hitori had to loosen this up so I could breath."

The crowd chuckled as Ms. Nekonome hurried off the stage. Rubi pulled a sheet of paper out from her breasts, shaking it open.

"One quick reminder to all students and parents. Yokai Academy is all about the coexistence with humans. Therefore we urge everyone to remain in their human forms."

As Rubi regarded her notes, the dark haired Mr. Karatsuki whom instructed the first year computer course started hanging placards on hooks to reflect the current score. He ignored their spot since they had taken last. After putting up fifteen points for Yamadachi's group, he hung the placards to indicate forty five points for Moka's group.

"We also encourage our students to compete as humanly as possible. Any blatant uses of supernatural powers will be grounds for disqualification."

One hundred twenty points went up for the first of the second year groups followed by seventy five for the next. The point discrepancy between first and last was huge. It was disheartening to see they were so far behind at the end of one event.

"If you need assistance with anything, please turn to the young men and women dressed in black uniforms or blue robes. The PSC and kendo clubs have volunteered to be at your service."

Rubi paused as Mr. Karatsuki finished updating the scores.

"In fifteen minutes we shall start our team events. We hope that will give everyone enough time to move to your desired event. Coach Amekoshi will be overseeing the water balloon fight and will announce the schedule. Her referees will be Coach Takaku and Coach Kanatoko."

Rubi turned to point at the baseball diamonds.

"Coach Yaisoku will be announcing the match ups for kickball. Coach Miyazaki and Coach Enkan will be the umpires for one game while Coach Miwa and Coach Miwa- is that right?"

Several people chuckled as Rubi looked for confirmation from the Headmaster. She turned about with a bright smile.

"Coach Miwa and Coach Miwa will be the umpires for the other game. I will be the announcer for our Capture the Flag event. Coach Hirata will be the referee for this. Our senior teams will be playing first."

Rubi gestured off to the archery pavilion. They had erected those three posts to the south of it for the ball toss and bread eating events.

"We will host three events at the archery pavilion. Archery will be first event starting at nine. Slightly to the south of the pavilion will be where we have the ball toss and bread eating contests. Ball toss will be held after the archery event concludes and the bread eating contest is after the shot put. Pie eating is the last event held at the pavilion. Coach Ochi will be the referee of these five events."

Rubi grinned, gesturing at the two coaches standing at the start and finish lines.

"The rest of the events will be managed by Coach Kibashiro and Coach Hoshineru. I will also be your announcer for all of the single events. For those doing the long jump, please report to Coach Kibashiro."

Ms. Shuzen stepped out from the first row and turned on the group.

"Everyone that is going to the water balloon event, follow me. If you are going to the kickball games, follow Mr. Nagamushi."

"You heard her."

Asakira started after the teacher, prompting a reluctant Masataka and Utsumi to follow.

"Come on, Yuu. I'd rather watch kickball than a bunch of guys chasing a flag."

Kurumu chuckled as Asuka and Taijin took off at the start of this exodus. With a glance back at the stands, it looked like more than half of those in attendance planned to leave. She supposed it made sense, considering many of them had nothing to do for hours.

Irewata hopped down and placed a hand on Kurumu's head. Kurumu smirked at the girl as Hiboshi and Yaisoku slowly followed after her. Hazumi and her dad were a couple of paces back, chatting with Irewata's mother. Behind them was Madosuki and her family which included two little brothers.

"We're going to watch Yasi get soaked. Want to come?"

Kurumu smiled softly, noting Kagami was still glued to her side.

"That depends on my captor."

"I don't care. Mom said I should stick close to you."

"Where is your mother?"

"She's with Ren's mom over with the seniors."

"Do I know this Ren?"

Kagami giggled, leaning her head back to smirk at her.

"She's in band. Her little sister, Saezuri, is in choir."

Kurumu immediately knew whom Kagami was talking about. The Umou sisters. They both had cinnamon tresses which spiraled down from their heads like drills.

"I take it Mrs. Umou is older than your mom."

"Mhm. Ren is the middle daughter of her three."

"They have an older sister?"

"Yea. Though Satori never made it to Yokai. Lucky girl had a baby her last year of junior high."

"Are you coming or what?"

Kurumu smiled at Hiboshi whom glared at her with annoyance.

"No. I think I'll stay here."

"Fine. Later."

"Wait up, Netsuki."

Irewata hopped out of the bleachers to follow after the miffed kitsune. Hazumi nodded at her when she passed by with her father. More people continued to depart.

"So why does your mom want you close to me?"

"Probably because she got socked in the mouth yesterday. I know tengu girls can get mean but I didn't expect Ms. Hanetsume to do that."

Kurumu smiled, having heard all about this when Moka had returned from her outing last night. When Kagami had dropped the news about the potential sisterhood, Hatoko had startled everyone by lunging at Kagami's mother and beating the sense out of her. That had ended their flying fun with the tengu girls hauling an enraged Hatoko back to the dorms while Moka and Tora took the mother to the hospital. The poor woman had suffered a broken shoulder and nose.

Feeling guilty over her relief at missing this debacle which had resulted in Moka and Tora spending most of their day consoling the two harpies, Kurumu had confessed the details of her fake date. While Kokoa found the whole thing amusing, Moka had been miffed about Kurumu getting to spend her whole day with Tsukune. At least Kurumu blowing off Suzume had not ruined her plans, thanks to Hatoko's rage.

"I've never understood Hatoko. She hates guys and gets mad at girls for liking guys. Did she say anything before hitting your mother?"

"Nothing that made sense."

"Well… Moka thinks Michiko might be okay with it."

"Who knows how she felt? She helped us get Ms. Hanetsume off Mom. I guess that's a good sign."

"What is it with you and cuddling other girls?"

Kurumu smirked as Yukari came down to join them. The witch placed her hands on her hips.

"It's safer than cuddling with boys."

"Are you ready to lose, brat?"

Kokoa strolled over, crossing her arms as she sneered at Yukari defiantly. Kokoa had her bangs pushed back with her orange bandana.

"Aren't you making declarations far too early in this? Losing one event means nothing."

"I was talking about our battle!"

Yukari snorted, looking beyond Kokoa. Moka was trotting over to them, holding a crimson satchel at her side. The vampire had tied her orange bandana on her right thigh.

"I'm sorry. I told her not to disturb the other groups."

Yukari darted by Kokoa, throwing her arms about Moka and forcing the vampire to halt.

"Moka, my love! It doesn't matter to me if I'm on top or bottom. As long as I'm with you."

Moka laughed nervously, timidly returning the embrace as her eyes scanned the bleachers. Kurumu could guess that Moka was worried about an angry father taking notice.

"Unhand my sister, you child molester!"

Kagami giggled as Kokoa grabbed Yukari by the collar and tried to yank her away from Moka.

"That phrase has a different meaning than usual."

"Play nice, girls. And be careful."

Kurumu shivered at the sudden appearance of Miyamoto. The boy was sporting the blue shirt of the second years and had an orange bandana tied about his forehead. Unlike most people, he had written upon his bandana in sweeping black characters declaring 'Little Sisters Rule'. He effortlessly stepped in between the two, pushing Yukari by the back of her head into Moka's bosom while his other hand was planted firmly on Kokoa's chest.

"There are those in the crowd with unfriendly motives."

Kokoa grabbed his hand and yanked him into her. She hopped up and wrapped an arm about his head, causing him to stagger.

"How dare you touch the breast of a noble vampire!"

"Let him go, Kokoa."

Kokoa scowled at Moka, relinquishing the grip. She stepped away from the recovering karate captain.

"I should turn you in for abusing your powers."

"I'm sorry, Ms. Shuzen. But your protection is far more important than any rule."

"What do I need to protection from?"

"Observe."

Miyamoto pointed to a group of boys wearing sunglasses and sporting cameras with telescoped lenses on max zoom. The bustle about the bleachers drowned out any sounds they were making, but it looked like they were laughing creepily.

"Who are those guys?"

"Alumni from the loli appreciation club."

"I thought this was a friends and family event."

"Any graduate from Yokai Academy can make a request for transportation to these events."

Yukari snickered as several lenses were turned in her direction.

"Those perverts just want to see girls wearing tight gym shorts. It's like watching porn to them."

Kurumu blushed at the thought of these boys masturbating to pictures of her. She was suddenly very aware of how much attention was turned in her direction. She slipped out of Kagami's embrace by taking the girl's hand, hoping it would diminish the lechery. Many boys had a weird fascination with lesbians.

"I didn't need that thought, Yukari."

"This might be the closest these sad fools get to being with a real woman."

"Please have mercy on those less fortunate than you, Ms. Sendou. I'm sure many young men would want to switch spots with you if they could."

Yukari eyed Miyamoto suspiciously.

"Did Huang say something to you?"

"I would like to ask everyone to keep clear of the soccer field. We will be starting the first Capture the Flag game in two minutes. Please stay off the field. You have been warned."

Kurumu smiled, noting that a bunch of seniors had gathered on the field and were preparing to face off. Mr. Hirata stood in the center with his cherry locks styled in a crew cut. The guys with orange bandanas included Mr. Tsutsushi, the soccer captain with the braided dark locks, and Mr. Nagashima, the tennis captain with short, curly strawberry hair. Their opponents with the purple bandanas included the massive Mr. Hisahito from basketball and Aku's older brother, Itsuki, from the soccer team.

She shuddered as another lick of debauchery touched her core.

"I wish they'd stop staring."

"What are you doing over here?"

Ginei jogged over to them with a huge grin on his face. He was wearing the same blue shirt as Miyamoto and was wearing his orange bandana in his dark bangs. Kurumu was relieved to see his bandana lacked a silly statement written upon it when he stopped beside Moka.

"I am warning these ladies of the dangers they face."

"You know that's an old tactic, Haiji. These days we don't warn our victims before we strike."

"My presence here is for the good of Ms. Shuzen."

"Did you say that to the teachers whom caught you trying to steal girls' measurements?"

Miyamoto huffed at Ginei's snickering. He crossed his arms defiantly.

"I have no regrets. My duty to the protection of little sisters transcends conventional rules."

"You're just a nuisance."

"Bear with it, Ms. Shuzen. It might be uncomfortable at first, but I'm certain you will enjoy it soon."

"Now that is a statement which needs context."

Kurumu smirked at Ginei's grin, shaking her head.

"I never asked yesterday, but what event are you in?"

Ginei laughed, clapping a hand on Miyamoto's shoulder. He balled his other hand into a fist and gave them a thumbs up.

"Haiji and I are on our capture the flag team. I'm hoping this goes a long way with Mika's mother. This contest is like the ultimate test of masculinity. Struggling to take away what another man holds most dear while protecting your own house."

"Where is Mika and her family? I'm sure that Moka and Yukari would like to meet them."

"They're in the center about seven rows up. While she is in a different gym period, I'm hoping she will root for our victory if we play against her team."

"So you two will also be my enemies soon. I look forward to proving my dominance."

Ginei and Miyamoto turned to regard a smug Huang whom walked up with his eyes closed and his arms crossed. Naturally as a first year he was wearing a red shirt but he had a purple bandana tied on his left arm above his elbow, designating his gym period.

"You're also in the capture the flag event?"

"Of course. It is the ultimate test of masculinity. Beating another man into submission and taking his possessions while daring him to do the same to you."

The older boys shared a glance before favoring the confident first year menacing grins. Ginei smacked a fist into his palm while Miyamoto's neck cracked as he moved his head side to side.

"We will look forward to playing with you."

"What do you want, Huang?"

"I am here to issue Mr. Aono a challenge."

Kurumu glanced over to where she had last seen Tsukune. He was still up there chatting with Kamitsuku and his adorable mother. The woman wore a simple white sundress which was not much paler than her wavy locks which almost reached the small of her back. Tsukune had shared lunch with the mother before the parent orientation on Saturday, stating she was quite pleasant.

"Tsukune! Come down here and refuse Mr. Huang's advances!"

Kamitsuku's eyes met hers and he began to laugh as Tsukune turned flush. Kamitsuku gestured towards them and started helping his mother descend the rows. Tsukune followed them down.

"I'm so fired up. Once I defeat Mr. Aono, he will become mine."

Ginei laughed, stepping over to clap Huang on the shoulder with enough force to make the boy stagger.

"Ease off there, tiger. Tsukune's a young maiden that might not be able to handle you."

The cheers brought Kurumu's attention to the action going on near the center of the track. A line had been stretched across all the lanes which Coach Kibashiro stood at. The blond Coach Hoshineru was making a mark much further down the track where a young man was shaking his arms at the crowd. Kurumu recognized the boy in the blue shirt as Shirenai Yuuki from the cheerleader squad. His yellow bandana was tied about his short, chocolate locks.

Once Shirenai was off the track, Coach Kibashiro gestured at the boys gathered beside her. The tall blond with the crew cut wearing a blue shirt and his purple bandana tied about his head wandered away from the line. Kurumu recalled that this was Shizumaru from the basketball team.

On the sound of the whistle, the tall boy sprinted to the line. He launched up into the air, sailing a long ways down the track. His front foot came down and he bounced a couple paces. Coach Hoshineru jogged over to his location, making a mark which was nowhere close to how far Shirenai had been. The crowd's reaction was mild in comparison.

"Now that Sports Day is here, I'm remembering how much fun these things were. Let's all work together and try our best!"

"Hey, Tsukune. Kamitsuku. And you are Kamitsuku's mother?"

Kamitsuku grinned at Kurumu, gesturing at the woman.

"Yes. This is my mother, Awa."

Kurumu doubted there was any chance this lovely lady was a kappa. But he had admitted that his father was an undine which begged the question of how he ended up a kappa if neither of his parents were one. She imagined it would be rude to ask about the woman's true form.

"Mr. Aono was talking so lively about how he really feels like he's at a human school now."

"Sports Day is about as human of a thing as there can be. People coming together to work towards a common goal. This day is symbolic of peace and harmony."

"You know… armies work together towards the common goal of slaughtering their enemy."

Tsukune staggered back in shock as Huang nodded with a wide grin.

"That is correct, Mr. Morioka. This festival is a symbol of battle. I will crush my opposition."

Tsukune laughed nervously, waving his hands in a placating manner.

"Hold up you two. This is high school. Not war."

Kokoa huffed, gesturing to the platform as people cheered for the next jumper.

"You only say that because you're losing."

"I know we got off to a rough start, but I'm sure that Mr. Tatakai tried his best. Mr. Ikazuchi will get us some points in this next event."

Turning her attention back to the jumpers, Kurumu was just in time to see a senior send himself flying with a spectacular jump. This guy in the green shirt with the yellow bandana tied about his dark locks marked with white splotches was Geijitsu Ryoute. Like Shirenai, he was a gyokuto on the cheerleader squad. He was unofficially dating Nazenara from volleyball, having grown up with her in Aranoiji.

Coach Hoshineru trotted over to mark the spot where he landed as the crowd cheered for the young man. He was more nonchalant about his performance. It was clear that he had not gone as far as Shirenai, but it was much further than Shizumaru.

"I don't think anyone is beating those cheerleader boys."

"I didn't know guys could jump that far."

There were only two third years left waiting to jump. She had no idea whom the guy with the short platinum locks was, but the guy with the orange bandana tied about his throat was Funsui from the tennis team. His wavy, shoulder length sienna locks gave him a slightly feminine appearance.

"Any points are better than none. We should be here to honor love and peace."

"Tsukune is right. We should focus on being happy and together."

Yukari snickered, poking at the crimson satchel hanging from Moka's side.

"You can't fool me. Kurumu told me all about you making something special for Tsukune today."

Kurumu smiled as she thought about this morning. Moka had roused her up, demanding that she help her make Tsukune a bento lunch today as punishment for yesterday's transgressions. It was the first time Moka had made a bento lunch.

"Is that true? Did you actually cook for me?"

Flush, Moka favored him a warm smile and nodded.

"Let's have a nice day together."

"Moka… I'm so happy."

Kurumu poked the dazed boy in the shoulder

"Careful there. Mizore's mother will be watching."

"How come you're never so happy about my cooking?"

With a fierce blush, Tsukune laughed nervously at Yukari's protest.

"Yes. We should all have fun."

"Fun is me pulverizing all whom stand in my path to victory."

Huang chuckled at Kokoa's wild grin.

"I would expect nothing less from the daughter of the ruthless Shuzen family."

"Why are you still here?"

Huang crossed his arms smugly, nonplussed by Kokoa's annoyance.

"Quite simple. When I defeat Mr. Aono, he will have to join my family."

"That wimp isn't even in the same event as you."

Huang gasped, falling back a step.

"What?! How can you not be in the manliest event available?!"

"Well I didn't want to argue over whom took what event so the other guys left me with the wheelbarrow race. You're more them welcome to watch."

Huang continued to reel with disappointment.

"That can't be! We have to compete today. I vowed to make you mine."

Ginei snickered, placing a hand on Huang's shoulder.

"I don't mind you chasing after Tsukune. Frankly I find it hilarious. But I'm seriously going to hurt you if I find out that you have touched any of the girls in my club inappropriately."

"Isn't that being a hypocrite?"

"And the results for the long jump are in!"

All attention turned to Rubi whom was dancing about in the center of the stage.

"In first place for the second year yellow team is Mr. Shirenai. Taking second is Mr. Geijutsu from the third year yellow team. And third place goes to Mr. Funsui of the third year orange team."

Kurumu smirked, recalling that Funsui had promised to ask a girl out by the time of the cultural festival. She had teased him about asking out Bouncy Bunny since they were both from Aranoiji and he had shown interest. But in the end he had seemed more determined to pick one of the cheerleaders, using the number of votes they got in the popularity contest to decide between Kukioba and Garakuta. She wondered if he had asked Garakuta out yet.

"Well… any points are better than none."

Kurumu blinked as Mr. Karatsuki hung up the points for the other first year classes.

"Fifteen? We got fifteen? What was Ikazuchi doing?!"

Kamitsuku chuckled at Kurumu's reaction.

"Give the guy some slack. We're the first group of first years so we have to go first. He might have tried harder if he had someone else to compare his jump to."

"I have a new proposition! If my team defeats your team, then Tsukune must join my family."

"You're only saying that because your team is sixty points ahead of ours."

"It disgusts me to think my classmates can't outperform anyone associated with you."

"That's not nice, Kokoa. We have no say in whom gets assigned to the different homerooms."

"We also have the results of the first game of capture the flag. Team Nagashima defeats Team Hisahito. The next game will start in three minutes. We need the second year teams to report to the field."

Ginei clapped a hand on Miyamoto's shoulder.

"It is time."

"Indeed."

"If I don't return, tell Mika that I loved her."

Kurumu laughed at Ginei's serious tone.

"Just go, you dork."

The two stoically departed from their group, walking with their heads held high.

"So cool! That is the essence of being a man."

"They're just a couple of posers."

"You simply don't understand, Ms. Kurono. A man must fight for his place in this world."

"Will the participants for the balance race please report to Coach Kibashiro? We will start the event as soon as everyone is ready."

Huang thrust his finger at Tsukune.

"Be a man, Mr. Aono. Accept my challenge!"

Yukari snorted, crossing her arms about her chest.

"There's nothing manly about taking a challenge that has only risk and no reward."

"It's a matter of pride! A vampire backs down from no challenges."

Yukari scowled at Kokoa.

"Nobody was talking to you."

"Huang. This isn't funny. If you don't take the hint, I'm going to charm you into leaving."

"That's against the rules, Ms. Kurono."

"I doubt anyone would care."

"You are missing the point of gambling, Huang. If Tsukune has to risk a life of servitude, shouldn't you carry the same risk?"

Huang frowned at Yukari.

"What are you saying?"

"If you lose, will you denounce your family and become Tsukune's bitch?"

Kokoa's eyes brightened up as Huang staggered back in shock.

"That's perfect! Do it Aono! Make him your Shuichi!"

"I don't need a Shuichi!"

"What's a Shuichi?"

Kurumu smirked at Kagami, shaking her head.

"You're better off not knowing."

"But I'm the family heir. I don't think I-"

"Come on, Huang. Are you not man enough to take that risk?"

Pleasant laughter interrupted their exchange. Ms. Huang strolled over to them, wearing a long sleeved, black jacket which stretched down to her calves. White hem lined the folds of the jacket which parted at her bosom to reveal much of her milky white cleavage. It came back together at the collar where a bell was hung in the center. A necklace of white prayer beads hung from her neck and below her breasts.

"It sounds like my dear brother has overstepped his limits once again."

The woman spoke fluent Japanese through a charm she had pressed to her lips. A pair of smaller bells dangled from her earlobes and a black Chinese hat rested upon her dark tresses. A swath of her locks were pulled back in a slim tail which fell to her waist.

"I like challenges as much as the next person, but we can't have my silly brother throwing away his birthright. Perhaps there is something else we could offer of interest to you."

"You're lucky we are being civil with him after what he pulled."

"I do apologize for my brother. Shall I speak with your parents?"

"That won't be necessary. I didn't tell them about his crime."

"What are we talking about?"

Kurumu smiled at Tsukune, shaking her head.

"It's nothing to worry about."

"Hey, Ms. Huang. You're Ritsu's science teacher. Why aren't you dressed to represent your brother's gym period like the other teachers?"

"Those rules don't apply to the dead."

"The dead?"

"My sister died of an illness many years ago. It was thanks to an arrangement with the Shuzen family that she stands here with us today."

"Oh? Are we doing away with our ruse now?"

"I see little reason to continue deceiving them, Sister. It may help convince Mr. Aono to join our cause."

Ms. Huang smiled softly, lowering her charm. She said something sweetly in Chinese, placing a hand gently on Moka's shoulder.

"Sister. They don't speak our language."

The lady sighed, placing the charm on her lips once again.

"I was sixteen when I passed away in the spring of 93. My parents desperately tried everything they could to keep me alive, even preserving my body with the hopes that they could bring my spirit back. Your mother, Ms. Shuzen, demanded allegiance from my parents to assist them."

Moka's eyes widened.

"You're the girl we saw when we went to China that summer!"

"You were so little back then. My first playmates after being revived."

Moka staggered back, looking over the woman.

"You… you haven't changed."

"I know. I was thinking you must have forgotten all about me when you did my interview."

"If you were revived by a vampire, doesn't that mean you're a jiangshi?"

Ms. Huang smiled, placing her free hand on her bosom.

"Yes. Your mother had this nice servant with her whom gave me so much of her blood that she nearly died. I will never forget her name."

"Ms. Juunan."

"This little one always called her Sho. I was a slender girl in life. But after the blood, I was not only taller but fuller in some places. My mother had to buy me a whole new wardrobe."

Kokoa nodded thoughtfully.

"So I just need to start drinking Kurumu's blood-"

"Don't go there."

Ms. Huang laughed at their exchange. Lowering her charm, she stepped over to Tsukune. After peering at him intently, she started muttering Chinese and patting his torso in several places.

"What are you doing?"

"My sister is admiring his physique."

Kurumu slipped in between the teacher and Tsukune, holding her arms out wide.

"Don't do that!"

The teacher laughed pleasantly, pressing the charm to her lips.

"I can see that he is strong, though the same can be said of so many other boys. I suppose he is cute but I don't understand my brother's fixation on you."

"Don't you listen to the rumors in school, Sister? He has become a vampire with Ms. Akashiya's blood."

Ms. Huang's eyes perked up.

"Oh? So you might be more than just some tool to release Ms. Akashiya in times of danger."

"So you know about the rosary?"

"Of course. That is Master Touhou's greatest invention. A seal to suppress the blood of the Shinso."

"So you came here for Moka."

"We came under Master Touhou's instruction. He wants us to protect Ms. Akashiya."

"So you aren't after Tsukune."

Ms. Huang laughed, shaking her head. Lowering her talisman, she said something in Chinese and winked at Tsukune. Whatever it was, her brother blushed crimson.

"What did she say?"

"Nothing that needs repeated."

Kurumu placed her hand on the woman's cleavage, feeling how chilly her skin was.

"I can understand Chinese if I'm touching you."

"It was a joke, Ms. Kurono. Though I am mildly curious if I can get pregnant."

Kurumu snatched her hand away, blushing hotly as the teacher brought the charm back to her lips.

"Mr. Aono. The jiangshi never age. If you happen to die while you're still so cute, I wouldn't mind making you my partner for eternity."

"I'd rather stay alive!"

Kokoa huffed, turning her attention back to the events at hand.

"This is dumb. I'd go somewhere else if I thought kickball or water balloon fights were fun to watch."

"I'm sorry, Ms. Shuzen. Jokes aside, we should discuss the terms of the wager."

"What wager?"

"What is at stake if my brother's team wins or loses against Mr. Aono's team."

"You have an idea, Sister?"

"I do. Would all of you like to spend your winter break in China? The Huang family will pay for all of your expenses. Just give me a list of people you'd like to invite, Mr. Aono, and we will make it happen."

"That's an empty offer. Half of us can't travel overseas."

"We are a crime syndicate, Ms. Sendou. We have ways of smuggling you into Hong Kong."

"But that's where your family lives! That's like walking into a trap!"

"He's right. There's no guarantee that you'll let us come back to Japan after we get there."

"That's not true, Kurumu. With magic, I can bring us back to Japan. I can connect any two doors I have passed through if their dimensions are similar."

Kurumu paused, glancing at Moka.

"If we take Mizore with us, she won't have to get married over winter break."

"And we have an announcement to make. Team Morioka defeats Team Tomera! Would the first year capture the flag teams report to the field? One of your teams will be playing against Team Machida."

"It sounds like it is time for you to take the field, Brother."

Huang bowed slightly to his sister.

"I will do our family proud, Sister."

"Before you go, are you okay with letting Mr. Aono invite as many of his friends as he pleases to Hong Kong? Our parents will be upset with you if the cost is high."

"What do you think, Tsukune? Maybe we could have a school trip. Invite the whole grade."

Huang paled considerably at Yukari's suggestion.

"Please don't. At least make it no more than a dozen."

"Thirty and you have yourself a deal."

"It's my freedom on the line!"

"Then if everyone is in agreement, we have a deal. Mr. Aono joins our family if his team loses to my brother's team. If Mr. Aono's team wins, he will be allowed a party of thirty with an all expenses paid trip to Hong Kong."

"I haven't agreed to anything!"

Yukari held a thumbs up at Tsukune.

"Don't worry, Tsukune. My father has never lost a bet on horses or mahjong that I helped him with."

"What does that have to do with anything?!"

"Your father takes you on gambling trips?"

"I will win this event, Mr. Aono. And with my victory, your life will become mine!"

Laughing pompously, Huang finally walked away.

"Don't I have a say in this?"

"You're worried over nothing, Tsukune. Can you think of any relevant athletes from his gym period?"

Tsukune frowned at Yukari.

"I know Ms. Uchikawa and Ms. Matsudera are both in class eight. Ms. Kiba is fairly athletic."

"Hotaru and Hikari are doing the three legged race. And Ms. Naratoki is doing that dress up relay."

"So you can't name a single guy in that gym group that we should be worried about."

"Well… there's Mr. Unsei, Mr. Noboru and Mr. Heniki."

Kurumu smirked, thinking she understood where Yukari was going with this. None of those three were athletes. Huang was making a bet without even thinking about his classmates.

"Take the bet, Tsukune. There's no way he's beating us."

"Looks like the next event is about to start."

Nakai from their homeroom was tiny compared to the other competitors, standing at the line with Coach Kibashiro. The guy for Moka's team was the grumpy Kumoyuki from Kokoa's homeroom. With his grayish hair swept up in defiance of gravity, he had his orange bandana tied about his forehead. His glass of water looked like it had no chance of falling off his head due to his hairstyle.

The last first year had much in common with the senior Kurumu had not recognized from the long jump event. But seeing his short, platinum locks sparked her memory of a pair of brothers whom had been in the popularity contest but had not picked up many votes. Hotaru had mentioned voting for the younger brother but Kurumu could not recall their names.

She knew all three of the second years. The boy with the wild, peppered locks covering his eyes was the younger Borohata from the baseball team. His orange bandana below his short blue sleeve indicated he was in Ginei's group. The glossy haired tanuki wearing the yellow bandana was Tebayai Itsuki from band. Kana's friend Yochimaru had quite the crush on him. The guy with the purple bandana barely visible in his curly, shoulder length shamrock hair was Namida Wana. He played the keyboard for the music club.

She had no clue whom the three seniors were. The proud, stocky guy with the ragged, bluish white locks which perfectly held his cup of water in place Kurumu had seen among the drama club. The guy with his sable locks pulled into a top knot had the purple bandana. The last guy wearing the yellow bandana Kurumu had seen in band but Moka had done his interview.

The gun fired and the boys moved swiftly with their heads high and their water cups level. Tebayai and the other band guy lost their cups almost at the start while the others carried on to the finish line. Nakai was doing admirably, but his short stride could not compete with the taller boys.

The athletic Borohata took first by several strides, with the next three places being real close between Kumoyuki and the other two seniors. It looked like Nakai was doomed to seventh when Namida nearly lost his cup of water. Catching it without spilling it, Namida stopped to put the water back on his head which allowed Nakai to cross the finish behind the other first year. The last two places were taking their time since it was clear they would not be winning this now.

"Sixth isn't too bad."

"Yea, but the guy from Huang's team finished fifth."

"What do you think, Moka? Should I take the bet?"

"It might be fun to visit China. And it would be a very nice thing to do for Mizore."

Tsukune nodded slowly at the warmth of Moka's smile.

"Okay, Ms. Huang. You have yourself a bet."

"The results for the balance race are in! Taking first place is Mr. Borohata from the second year orange team. In second from the third year purple team is Mr. Yokan and third is Mr. Yakedo from the third year orange team."

Kurumu grimaced as Mr. Karatsuki updated the scores. They only had sixty points at the end of three events compared to Huang's team which had a hundred thirty five points. Kokoa's team was ahead of them both with a hundred fifty points.

"Very good, Mr. Aono. I'd like to wish you luck, but I'm not at all concerned with how this turns out."

"Why not?"

"My brother carries all the risk in this wager. Now if you excuse me, I want to cheer my silly brother on."

Kurumu smirked as the foreigner stalked off. She hoped Yukari was right about their odds because that scoreboard looked ominous.

"I know we are falling a little behind schedule, but I am happy to announce the scores as they stand at the end of the second hour of events!"

Kurumu smirked while sitting in the bleachers with Kagami clinging to her side. Rubi had done a similar announcement at the conclusion of the first hour. This meant the scores now reflected the results from the kickball, capture the flag and water balloon events.

"First year yellow team has three hundred ninety five points. They are tied with the first year purple team. First year orange team has four hundred sixty five points."

Despite being in dead last after Rubi's first major announcement, they had caught up to Huang's team. Part of them closing the gap had to do with decent finishes in limbo and archery. Juri had stopped by to inform them that she had finished fourth while Miho from Huang's team had taken fifth. As Juri had warned them, the three winners had all been older archery girls with Ms. Hidaka taking first, Ms. Fujino claiming second and Ms. Ochiai taking third.

"Second year yellow team has four hundred forty points. Second year purple team has five hundred fifty five points. Second year orange team has five hundred fifteen points."

Limbo had been hilarious to watch. Dakuhime from Moka's group snagged second place and little Kosame from Huang's group had taken fourth. Both girls were so tiny that they barely had to put effort into getting below the bar. While Amesuki had been one of the taller girls, she managed to squeeze into third place thanks to her experience in gymnastics. The overall winner of the event had been Yawarakai, a third year from the gymnastics club. That girl was quite the skilled contortionist, playing the game by herself after Dakuhime had been eliminated.

"Our third years are showing their school spirit by taking commanding leads. The yellow team has six hundred five points while the orange team has seven hundred twenty points. The purple team is trailing far behind with only three hundred fifty points, but don't count any groups out yet. The day is not even halfway done!"

Rubi was only announcing the results of the single events and the capture the flag games. In the first round, Team Hitomure had defeated Team Machida while Team Unsei had defeated Team Kishita.

In the second round, their team had been given a bye. Team Morioka had defeated Team Unsei, which had been quite satisfying to watch. Team Tomera was the only capture the flag team eliminated thus far with Team Machida getting a draw against Team Kishita. Team Anko which had a bye the first round had been defeated by Team Nagashima.

"I've been told that Coach Ochi is almost ready to start the Shot Put event at the archery pavilion. All the participants please report to the pavilion so that we can get that started."

Just moments before Rubi's big announcement, the witch had revealed the results of the ball toss. First had gone to Bakugen, the captain of the basketball team. The second years Hatahana and Shuryou had taken second and third respectively. Kurumu had no idea how well Yougan had fared.

"The first game of the third round shall be Team Hitomure against Team Anko. Please report to Coach Hirata at the center of the soccer field."

Yukari was returning to them, accompanied by Madosuki and her family. Kurumu waved at the group, though only Yukari deviated course to join them. The family picked their way up the bleachers.

"What's up with Madosuki?"

"Our water balloon team got eliminated. Lost both of their games."

"That sucks."

Yukari sighed heavily, plopping down on the bench beside them.

"If it's any consolation, Huang's team lost their first game too. The team for Ginei's group was the other team eliminated, though I guess that doesn't matter."

"If Huang's team lose this round, they'll end up with the same points as we got for that event."

"Right. I see we tied up the score. That should keep that braggart at bay."

Kurumu smirked as Ginei strolled towards them. He was in the company of Miyamoto, Tsuiseki, Shuryou, Sangi, Hajihachi and her family. Both older girls had purple bandanas while all the guys had orange.

"I think the pounding Ginei gave him would discourage him from bothering us again."

"They could have won that game faster if Ginei had been an attacker."

Ginei's capture the flag team had Miyamoto as their goalie. Some long haired guy from Miyamoto's homeroom and karate club by the name of Iwai Hideyoshi served as their primary defender. The lead guitarist of the music club, Kaiketsu Inochi, was another defender. He was from Ginei's homeroom and had his short garnet locks swept up in a faux hawk. Their last defender was Arukage Uso, a monstrel boy on the rugby team whom sported a frosted blue faux hawk.

Their three attackers for that game had been the raven haired Washisora from the outdoors club, the shaggy, blond haired Muramatsu from rugby and the ashen haired Tsuiseki from the basketball team. The twitchy Muramatsu had been called out twice for tackling defenders while holding the flag.

"Did you say something to Ginei about Huang?"

"Only that he was in detention for molesting me."

Ideally the team would have their fastest and slipperiest trio be attackers while leaving their defenders as big dudes whom could take the attackers down. Ginei was supposed to be an attacker but had swapped roles with Muramatsu so that he could tackle Huang all game long.

"Did that actually happen?"

Yukari smirked at Kagami, not responding as Ginei's group joined them.

"It looks like Mr. Hitomure will avoid fighting the top dogs of this event."

"Congratulations on your third place, Mr. Shuryou."

The tall guy whose jet black bangs had frosted silver tips huffed dismissively at Kurumu's praise.

"Ease up, Kenshin."

Ginei draped an arm around the tall guy's back to clap his shoulder.

"A pretty girl is talking to you. That won't happen often."

"Back off, Morioka!"

Ginei chuckled, holding his hands up defensively as he pounced back to Hajihachi's side.

"How did our Mr. Yougan do in your event?"

"He took fourth while the younger Bakugen took fifth. I don't know what happened to Hiromori. He choked big time but he still beat the other three guys."

Shuryou scowled at Tsuiseki.

"It would have been pathetic if he had lost to any of those three. None of them are on the team."

"So what is the lovely Kurumu doing with herself this hour?"

Kurumu chuckled at Ginei.

"The schedule says that the wheelbarrow race will be happening soon. I'm waiting for Tsukune and Kamitsuku to come back from the baseball fields to update us on how things are going over there."

"I have Uchiyama taking pictures for those games."

Kurumu grinned at Sangi, gesturing at the brunette's camera.

"Have you been taking pictures of the games here?"

"I've been letting Mika handle the pictures here with a spare club camera. I've been bouncing around between Coach Ochi's events."

"Then what are you doing over here? The shot put event is about to start."

Sangi grinned, handing off her camera to Uzuha whom was the twin with the braided tail. The other twin with unbound hair, Mitsuro, already held a camera.

"Because Mika and I have to run a race."

Ginei chuckled, giving his girlfriend a squeeze.

"These two are in the three legged race which will be starting in a few minutes."

"Who do you have taking pictures of the water balloon fights?"

"Tamura isn't in any events so I have him handling the pictures for that."

"Did Uchiyama not pick an event?"

"That dummy volunteered to do the tire race. I don't think he realizes how heavy that tire will be. But at least his event won't happen until after the kickball games are finished."

Kurumu rubbed Kagami's shoulder as the girl leaned against her side.

"Do you think Huang is still in the medical station?"

"I put the fear of dog into that boy."

"I wonder whom that idiot plays next."

Ginei shrugged indifferently, pulling Hajihachi closer to him.

"Who knows? Since your boys are playing now, that means we'll be getting Team Nagashima."

"A worthy foe indeed."

"You'll have to watch yourself, Haiji. Tsutsushi is no joke and Nagashima is fast too."

"Let me worry about that. You just need to focus on getting that flag off Mr. Haikan."

"That's the only hard part. Their defenders are a joke."

"Don't underestimate my good friend, Hyokoku."

Shuryou scowled as Ginei continued to be affectionate with Hajihachi.

"I'll go watch our kickball team."

"See you around, Kenshin."

Tsuiseki chuckled at his friend's grimace as Shuryou walked away. He retreated back a few steps.

"And I will go round up the other guys. We need to be ready for our next match."

"We need the participants for the three legged race report to Coach Kibashiro at the starting line."

Ginei pressed a quick kiss against Hajihachi's temple, causing the girl to blush. The twins laughed as Hajihachi sheepishly pulled away.

"Good luck, Mika. You're up against the Hitozen twins."

Sangi snorted, slapping a hand on Hajihachi's shoulder and steering her away.

"Talk about fighting dirty. Those two will be tough to beat."

Kurumu smiled as Tsukune trotted into view. Kamitsuku and his mother were several steps behind, walking at a leisurely pace with Hazumi and Hibiki. Even further back was Kokoa and her two girls, Hotaru and Hikari.

"There's Saezuri and Fumenko."

Kagami pointed at the pair of harpies walking towards the starting line. Saezuri had the cinnamon drill curls while Fumenko had her raisin tresses wrapped up in twin buns. They stood exactly the same height though Umou was more endowed than her friend.

Down the track on her right, the auto club seniors with purple bandanas approached. The tomboyish Jarimoto with the long, black cherry bangs was with the twin tailed Kigaru. Behind them was a pair of squat, stocky girls with yellow bandanas whom looked like they would need a break after walking up a flight of stairs. The two undine seniors from the choir were wearing the orange bandanas.

"Have a seat, Tsukune."

Tsukune chuckled as he ignored Yukari's pat on the lap to sit by her side. Kamitsuku sat down next to him with his mother on his other side.

"So how were things with kickball?"

"We've won a game and lost a game. We have a bye this round."

"How's Huang's team doing?"

"Same boat as us. They eliminated Mr. Yokokara's team."

"That was just pathetic to watch. I don't know if Mr. Heniki's team is that good or if Ryuga's team sucked that bad. I doubt they could have beaten the other team that got eliminated."

"Who else got the boot?"

"The third year purple team. I understand that we barely beat them in the first round."

"Are you psyched up for your event?"

Tsukune smiled nervously at Ginei.

"I'm a little worried what my competition is like."

"Just go out there and do your best."

"You say that but my life is on the line here."

Kurumu grinned, pointing at the scoreboard.

"Don't worry, Tsukune. As long as you beat whomever Huang's team is pitting you against, you can rely on your team to carry you to victory."

"My team isn't aware of what's at stake here!"

"Would you ladies like to sit down?"

Mrs. Hajihachi glanced at her two daughters whose attention was upon the girls getting ready for the three legged race. She smiled at Kamitsuku's mother.

"I don't believe we met."

"Yamabato Awa. And this is my son, Kamitsuku."

"Hajihachi Shigemi. These are my daughters, Uzuha and Mitsuro."

"Are your girls in junior high?"

Mrs. Hajihachi chuckled as she sat down beside the other mother.

"No. They're both in the sixth grade."

"Only sixth grade? They're both so tall."

"My other daughter is about to run in this next race. If she's any indication, these girls will end up taller than me just like their father."

"Could he not take the day off from work?"

"He passed away several years ago."

"Oh? My condolences."

"Do you have any other children?"

"Unfortunately not. We tried for almost a decade before we had Kamitsuku."

"Welcome back, Ms. Shuzen."

Kokoa glared at Miyamoto as she passed between the second years and the first row of bleachers. With a huff, she sat down on Kagami's other side.

"My team sucks."

"You're team is doing fine."

"We're in fifth place, Kurumu. Our best finish was in limbo and that's nothing to brag about."

"Would you feel better if I patted your head?"

"I'd feel better if I punched your balls."

Kurumu snickered as Miyamoto backed off a step.

"You know… those twins are little sisters."

"There is a distinct difference between a little sister and a younger sister."

"But you still admire the younger Tadayo from our grade."

Miyamoto huffed at Ginei's playful jab.

"I admire both Tadayo sisters, though many in my faction have ceased interest in the younger Hotaru."

"And the first game is over! Team Hitomure has defeated Team Anko for the elimination! Our next match is between the first year purple group and the second year purple group."

Both boys turned to regard the dancing bunny suit girl on the stage.

"It seems Mr. Hitomure's team remains undefeated."

"We will have to change that."

"Once the next game begins, we shall start the three legged race. Please keep clear of the track!"

Ginei sighed heavily, crossing his arms.

"Such a peaceful event my lovely girlfriend has agreed to do."

"Agreed. The perfect example of true camaraderie."

"I'm glad you two see things the way I do. It's peace and love."

Ginei chuckled at Tsukune's interjection.

"It's also fun to watch."

"I wonder if our twins will win this. They may have perfect harmony with each other, but they are not as athletic as some of their competition."

Ginei nodded thoughtfully, stroking his chin.

"Those big senior girls are in the diving club and the tiny ones are from the auto club. And those other seniors are from Hitsumi's choir. I wouldn't claim any of those clubs are athletic."

Kurumu grimaced, recalling how poorly Nakai had finished despite his perfect balance.

"Do those auto club girls stand a chance with such a short stride?"

"I doubt they'll beat the Hitozen twins but I don't think they'll finish last. Whose bright idea was it to put Kyoufuu with Shirasagi? Weren't those two fighting last week?"

Kurumu knew Kyoufuu was the cinnamon haired band girl whom owned the cursed flute she had encouraged Tsukune to play a few weeks ago. It was hard to believe such a hopelessly romantic girl would fight someone else, let alone with that raven haired girl with the feathered pixie cut. They were about the same height though the other girl was more endowed.

"They may have their differences but they attended the same junior high."

Ginei chuckled, turning a smirk on his partner.

"Not that I'll complain about seeing those two run. There's something immensely satisfying about watching a girl jiggle."

"I beg your pardon!"

Ginei smirked at Mrs. Hajihachi.

"Sorry, Mother. But it's the truth."

"I agree that it is fascinating."

"I thought I raised you better than that."

Kamitsuku chuckled, draping an arm around his mother.

"I think you'd prefer me to be attracted to girls instead of boys."

Miyamoto huffed imperiously.

"You both are fools. Who cares about bouncing breasts? I assure you that girls find such a thing a painful inconvenience."

"They can wear a tighter sports bra if they don't want to put on a show."

Mrs. Hajihachi gasped indignantly.

"Mr. Morioka. That is not always possible."

"Breasts are the perfect size when they don't bounce."

"You're talking about the chest of a man."

"Don't take it there, Morioka. Of course breasts are essential to a woman. But the optimal size is right before they start to bounce."

Kurumu nodded thoughtfully.

"That is surprisingly insightful of you."

"Ms. Shuzen is the perfect example. A slight bosom to mark her femininity while remaining petite. Her body is the pinnacle of female physical performance."

Kokoa blushed with a wide grin.

"That better be a compliment, you freak."

Ginei scowled, grabbing Miyamoto by the collar.

"You're the fool, Haiji. Women didn't evolve to be the ones in charge of physical labor. A woman's ideal body is plump and voluptuous. Big breasts and a big booty are what makes a man want to be alive!"

Miyamoto grimaced, grabbing Ginei's collar in return.

"And you are letting all your blood go to the wrong head! Women do not exist for the sole purpose of mating. We possess a cognitive awareness to cherish more than excessive sexuality!"

"So you admit a woman is sexier with bigger breasts and a bigger booty!"

"I admit that we should appreciate other things that women possess. Like intelligence and personality."

"I don't think Kurumu is lacking in personality."

"Don't drag me into your nonsense."

"Don't try to belittle my superior position. Any man chasing Ms. Kurono will be blinded by her sexuality. He will never appreciate her personality as much as he would if she possessed smaller breasts and a lithe body. True love blossoms for those with the optimal physical appearance."

Kagami frowned, cupping her breasts.

"Are my boobs too big?"

Both Ginei and Miyamoto answered curtly and differently. They scowled at each other.

"There's nothing wrong with that girl. She looks amazing in those gym clothes."

"You just don't understand! Little sisters like Ms. Shuzen look better in gym clothes."

"Yukari just looks like a little kid in gym clothes."

"I wasn't talking about Ms. Sendou!"

"Could you two shut up?! They're about to start the race."

Both boys quieted under Uzuha's scolding as Coach Kibashiro raised her gun. Kokoa hopped to her feet as the gun fired, setting the contestants into motion.

"Go for it, Hikari! Move your ass, Hotaru!"

Kurumu got up which prompted Kagami to join her. She smirked at Kokoa.

"Aren't you rooting for the wrong team?"

"I don't even know the girls running for mine."

The Hitozen twins steadily pulled ahead of the competition, moving steadily in perfect unison. Hazumi and Hibiki were doing well thanks to their height and athleticism. Hotaru and Hikari were keeping up with the front pairs as best they could with coordinated steps.

Hajihachi and Sangi were trying hard not to bust out laughing as they fumbled their way down the stretch. Jarimoto was the more capable of her pair, helping up the clumsy Kigaru at least twice. They were not far ahead of the two choir teams which were having similar difficulties.

The Hitozen twins crossed the finish line as Kurumu turned her attention back to the leaders. From their angle, it was impossible to say which team had crossed second. It looked like Hajihachi's duo stumbled across the finish ahead of the gnomes. They literally fell on the ground, laughing.

"At least my friends did well."

Miyamoto chuckled at Kokoa's dejected remark.

"Agreed. It was nice to see Ms. Hajihachi finish in such a jovial fashion."

"That's not the same thing at all when your team won the event!"

"You are fretting over nothing, Ms. Shuzen."

"I want to win!"

"And the winner of our three legged race is the second year orange team! In second is the first year purple team and third goes to first year yellow team! A round of applause for our lovely ladies."

The crowd cheered on cue as the participants untied themselves from each other.

"Our next event is the wheelbarrow race which will start shortly after the next capture the flag game starts. The participants of the wheelbarrow race should report to Coach Hoshineru at this time. This is a back and forth race, so runners will be starting at the finish line."

Tsukune sighed heavily as he got up.

"That's us. Ready, Kamitsuku."

"Here goes nothing."

Kurumu clapped as the two boys jogged off to the finish line. She watched as Mr. Karatsuki updated the scores for the groups. Huang's team had pulled fifteen points ahead with that last event. She mildly wondered how Taijin was doing over at the shot put event.

"Hey, Kokoa. Where is Moka?"

"She's with Nagisa watching the water balloon fight."

"How's your team doing over there?"

"They were slaughtered by the senior yellow team. I don't know how they could laugh about it."

"It's supposed to be a fun day."

"There's nothing fun about losing."

"Welcome back, my love."

Hajihachi blushed as she accepted a hug from Ginei. Sangi laughed, stepping around the couple and poking Uzuha on the shoulder.

"I'll take my camera back."

"Kiss me for luck on my next match?"

The flush girl lifted up slightly to press her lips against Ginei's. His hands instantly drifted to her rump, giving her a squeeze which caused her to yip in his mouth. She broke the kiss, pressing her hands on his shoulders as she squirmed in his grasp.

"Don't. Not in front of my mom."

Ginei let out a heavy sigh, releasing his firm hold on Hajihachi's ass.

"Back to taking pictures, I guess."

Hajihachi grinned, tapping his nose before walking over to Mitsuro. The blushing twin surrendered her camera to her older sister.

"I want a boyfriend."

"You're too young, Mitsuro."

"Kokoa! How was that?!"

Kokoa grinned as Hotaru came bounding over. She then quickly forced a scowl glancing aside.

"You didn't win."

Hotaru pouted as she placed her hands on Kokoa's shoulders.

"Aw, come on. We got second place. That's the best anyone from our team has finished."

Hikari meekly came up next to Hotaru.

"Is she mad at us?"

Kokoa instantly slipped free of Hotaru to hug Hikari tightly.

"You guys did awesome. Your practice paid off."

Hikari let out a happy squeal as she snuggled with Kokoa. Hotaru huffed, crossing her arms.

"So that's how it is."

"I wish you two had been on my team."

"You should give Hotaru a hug too."

Kokoa glared at Hotaru, remaining in her embrace with Hikari.

"Maybe later. Let's go buy some concessions."

"That sounds good to me."

Taking Hikari by the hand, Kokoa walked off. Hotaru sighed, trotting off to join them.

"And the winner of our second game is Team Unsei! Team Machida has been eliminated. Our next combatants to report to Coach Hirata are Team Morioka to face off against Team Nagashima!"

"It's time."

"Let's do this."

Ginei and Miyamoto stalked off in the same stoic manner that they did for each of their games. Kurumu had to laugh at their performance, draping an arm around Kagami's shoulders.

"I guess this means Tsukune's race will start soon."

"Who is he up against?"

Five of the six seniors gathering for this event were from the auto club. The club president, Doroishi, and his vice president, Fumoutochi, were sporting the purple bandanas. Kurogane and his roommate had the yellow bandanas. Tsuchiyama's older brother was with some taller guy with a periwinkle pompadour.

Doroishi's successor, Jishin, was with some dark haired guy whom was shorter with him. They were wearing the yellow bandanas. The only other auto club boy at the line was Makenuki's little brother representing Huang's team. He was partnered with Yokoana from the computer club, whom had his obsidian locks hanging like a mop from his head.

The first year team with the orange bandanas included the ashen haired Ganjou from the computer club whom helped Ishikure manage class ten. His unfamiliar, dark haired partner looked smaller than him.

Kurumu recognized two of the second years on the remaining two teams. One was this tall, platinum blond whom played for the tennis team. Soratani Soyo was called the Silent Prince because he was rumored to not talk to anyone but his tennis partner, Genzaimuta, whom was his cousin. Most of her information for his interview had actually come from Shiname.

The guy he was paired with was also tall and had flaming hair. His reddish tresses actually wavered upwards off his head like a literal flame. This wiry young man clambered into their wheelbarrow.

"Why is there a girl representing Ginei's team?"

Sangi laughed as Kurumu pointed at the sable haired beauty taking her place inside a wheelbarrow. This person with the hime cut bangs and long, flowing ponytail was wearing the loose shorts favored by guys.

"That's Yokan Awateru. He always looks like that."

"Is this the Yokan whom ranked in the top ten the last two exams?"

"Yup. And the guy with him is Amesuki Nijiro, one of our top five."

Kurumu smiled, thinking that the short haired blond did look familiar. This was Amesuki's older brother whom the undine worried about embarrassing.

"Wasn't there a Yokan in the balance race?"

"That's his older brother."

"I suspected as much. The older Yokan is also among the top ten for the seniors."

"I am victorious!"

Kurumu rolled her eyes as Huang jogged across the track with his arms held high.

"Don't you have somewhere else to be?"

Huang laughed as he promptly came to a stop between Kurumu and Yukari.

"I want to be here to witness Mr. Aono's performance. But struggle as he might, my victory is assured."

"Look at the scoreboard. Your team is barely ahead."

"The day is still young, Ms. Kurono."

Coach Kibashiro was at the finish line holding the gun aloft. Each group had one guy in the wheelbarrow with the other holding the two posts. They would have to lift these posts in order to push their partners down the track with only one central wheel near the front to guide their path. Tsukune was taking a seat the first half with Kamitsuku poised and ready.

At the sound of the gun, the boys darted forward. Soratani made swift, long strides, quickly putting distance between him and the others. Fumoutochi was hustling with precision, keeping even with Jishin and Kurogane. Kamitsuku was struggling to keep his course straight, falling behind Amesuki, Tsuchiyama and Makenuki. The only competitor he was keeping ahead of was Ganjou.

People cheered as the boys neared the switch point which was being watched over by Coach Hoshineru. Soratani reached the point first well ahead of the rest. The wiry guy hopped out and they turned the wheelbarrow around. Soratani stepped into the wheelbarrow and Coach Hoshineru called for the switch. Hearing her approval, they started down the second stretch at a notably slower pace.

Fumoutochi crossed the line a couple strides ahead of Jishin and Kurogane. All three teams switched positions as the remaining groups closed in. Kamitsuku was now hustling in unison with Amesuki and Tsuchiyama. Makenuki had fallen back some strides and was with Ganjou.

"Purple third years go!"

Doroishi started off as Kamitsuku crossed the changing line with Amesuki and Tsuchiyama. Tsukune hopped out of the wheelbarrow and they hastily turned the thing around.

"Yellow second years go! Yellow third years go!"

Kurogane's roommate spurred into motion, catching up with Jishin's group. The guy pushing Jishin sped up to prevent being passed.

"Yellow first years go!"

Kurumu shouted as Tsukune tore down the track with Kamitsuku gripping the sides firmly.

"Orange second years go!"

The elegant Yokan sprinted in Tsukune's wake. The two of them shot past the two gnome groups before they reached the halfway point to the finish. But even with their haste, it would not be enough. The lead Soratani had made was too solid and his partner was keeping the gap between him and Doroishi firm. They crossed the finish line first without any question whom the winner was.

Tsukune and Yokan were catching up to Doroishi. It was too close to say whom crossed the finish first. All three teams hit the mark at about the same moment. Several strides later, the other two auto club teams crossed at about the same time.

"What do you say now, Huang?"

Huang chuckled nervously at Yukari's smirk.

"Go Mr. Yokoana! Finish strong!"

"You'll be lucky if you don't finish last."

"Be nice, Yukari. It's only one event."

Huang forced a laugh, clenching a fist.

"Exactly. And I expected no less from the man I want by my side. Of course he would win."

"And the results for the Shot Put event are in!"

Rubi waved to the crowd as Mr. Karatsuki started updating the scores.

"In first place, Ms. Hashimoto from second year purple team. Taking second is Ms. Ueno from second year orange team. And in third, Ms. Iwadake from third year yellow team."

Kurumu sighed as their score was bumped to six hundred fifty points.

"I wish they would tell us all of the places."

"They're not going to shame someone by saying they took last."

"They have no problem posting a board of shame after exams."

"What do you say now, Huang?"

Yukari's teasing had Kurumu look back to the scoreboard. Huang's team only had five hundred forty five points while Moka's group had five hundred eighty five.

"A minor setback, Ms. Sendou."

"And the winners of our wheelbarrow race are second year purple team! Second place goes to the third year purple team and third is the first year yellow team!"

Kurumu pouted, leaning against Kagami.

"Darn. I thought Tsukune had caught those seniors for sure."

"I know. But third isn't too bad."

"All the participants for the bread eating event need to report to Mr. Ochi now. We would like to get that event started as soon as we can."

Kurumu breathed in deep as Tsukune laughed with Kamitsuku on his walk back to them.

"So what's the next single event on the track?"

"I think it's the egg race."

"Hey, Huang. Who do you got doing your egg race?"

"That's a girls event. I didn't bother paying attention to that."

Kurumu smirked, shaking her head.

"Good luck, Huang. I think you'll need it."

"And the winners of our team events are as follows. In kickball, first place goes to third year yellow team. Second is our second year yellow team and third is second year purple team!"

They were camped out beneath the bleachers to shade them from the afternoon sun. Moka had spread out a blanket and they had shared lunch with Tsukune, Yukari and her parents. Mizore and her mother had also joined them, making due with desserts from the concession stands. Moka had managed to keep a smile with so many glares turned upon her throughout the mostly silent lunch.

"The overall winner for the water balloon fight is second year purple team. Second place goes to third year yellow team and taking third is our first year orange team!"

Rubi paused to allow the crowd to react.

"And the champions of our capture the flag event is none other than Team Morioka! Second place goes to Team Nagashima while our third place is taken by Team Hitomure!"

Ginei's team had gone undefeated, beating both the second and third place teams. Due to several draws, there had been four teams playing in the final hour with Ginei's team not even playing. Team Hitomure had finished with a draw against Team Hisahito while Team Nagashima had defeated Team Unsei. With that being Team Hisahito's third draw and Team Unsei's second loss, both teams had been eliminated.

"I hope everyone is ready for the second half of our program as it will be starting soon! Our Tug of War event will start here on the track in front of my stage shortly after the conclusion of the sack race."

Kurumu groaned, reluctant to get up. She glanced at Yukari whom was snuggled up with her mother.

"How much more time do we have before our event?"

"They're supposed to do the push out event first in the center of the soccer field. Ours is right after."

"I trust that you will keep our daughter safe, Ms. Kurono."

Kurumu smiled at the stern father.

"Other than Kokoa, I doubt any of the other girls we're up against will be violent."

Tsukune staggered up on his feet, patting his stomach.

"That was a delicious meal, Moka. I'm surprised that was your first attempt to make one."

Moka smiled softly, packing up the emptied bentos in her satchel. She had only made four since Kokoa had told her this morning about eating lunch with Hikari's family.

"I'm pleased that you enjoyed it. Kurumu did help me."

"I can't say that I've had a whole lot of Kurumu's cooking either."

"Hey now. I helped prepare several meals for you at the Shuzen Estate and at the Okinawa hotel."

"I guess that's true. It just seems like Yukari is the one making most of the meals."

"That's because I am."

Kurumu chuckled, getting up on her feet.

"And here's an update on your scores going into the final stretch. For the first years, yellow team has one thousand fifteen points. Orange team has eight hundred thirty points with purple team not far behind with seven hundred thirty points."

Their score had jumped a lot in these last events. They finally had gotten a first place when Hedoyami had proven he was the best at eating nasty pies. It turned out that there was no time limit and the only way to win was to outlast your opponents. It had been a long event, taking almost an entire forty minutes before Mizuno, a second year from the judo team, finally puked to give Hedoyami the victory. Third had gone to Kurobo, another second year from band.

"Our second years are also putting up some big numbers with the yellow team scoring nine hundred five points. The purple team has the overall lead with one thousand three hundred forty five points while the orange team is narrowly in second with one thousand one hundred eighty five points."

They had also grabbed a first place finish in the egg race. It had been the right call to let a pair of track girls run that race. Nozomi and Nomura still took first even with dropping their egg twice. It was obvious why the race was run before lunch as the coaches needed time to clean up that mess.

Hiyoshi from track and Tsubuyama from the cheerleader squad had secured second. The nekomusume girls were second years representing the yellow team. Third place had gone to Odayakana from the Sadou club and her classmate Tanigawa from the cheerleader squad. The seniors had not dropped their egg once but had walked too slow to beat their less cautious opponents.

Amusingly, Kana and her friend Yochimaru were the duo representing Huang's team for that event. Even with them dropping their egg multiple times, they had finished ahead of two other teams.

"But don't dismiss our third years. They can always claw their way back to the top. The yellow team has one thousand one hundred twenty points. Keeping things close, our orange team has one thousand ninety five points. Our purple team is struggling but has seven hundred eighty five points. There's still enough events to bring anyone up to first!"

Moka folded up the blanket once everyone was off of it.

"Seems like we might win that trip for Mizore."

Mizore regarded her inquisitively. Kurumu grinned at the girl.

"Just a small wager we made with Huang. I'll explain it later."

"Yea. Putting my life on the line."

"You're worried over nothing."

"His team could easily catch up in this final stretch."

"He's right, Kurumu. With eight single events and one team event remaining, there are still plenty of points for him to catch up to us."

Kurumu grimaced as she followed Yukari out into the light. They slowly walked towards the break in the fence flanking the bleachers.

"Do you really think his team has a chance?"

"I'll feel more confident after this hour. Remember that many of the events remaining are for the girls and that his group has many girls to worry about."

Kurumu nodded, knowing it would be tough to beat them in the final relay. Nikki and Akari had grabbed Kazehana and Kirizumi for that. While Kirizumi was not a relay runner, neither was Hiboshi.

"In ten minutes, we will start the sack race. We need those participating in this event to report to Coach Kibashiro at the starting line."

With the events wrapped up at the baseball diamonds, tennis courts and archery pavilion wrapped up, most people were now gathering in these bleachers. Rubi was still strutting about on the platform in her bunny suit, talking with Mr. Karatsuki whom continued to keep score.

As far as Kurumu knew, Huang's group had yet to take first in any event. The tall Honemoto had won the bread eating contest for Moka's group with second place going to a second year choir girl and Zoushiki securing third. Kurumu had no idea why that pretty salamander had agreed to do that event other than she was sort of tall. She was curious how Goto had done in that event and still had not seen Asuka for an update on Taijin's performance.

"There's our teammates."

Kurumu smiled as Yukari pointed all the way down the track to where their group was stationed. Irewata and Kagami were standing out on the track with Hiboshi, Yaisoku and Arashimideru.

"Please keep in mind that the Tug of War Event will start as soon as the sack race results are in. The young men involved in this need to be ready."

Kurumu doubted that would be an issue as the stands looked full. She saw Ushio standing with Tamaishi and Yano next to Mr. Nagamushi, laughing over something. She felt sorry for anyone thinking that they could move that trio.

At the end of the stretch, Coach Kibashiro was directing girls to the bags they had to use for the event. Tonari frowned at the bag she picked up while Shinayaka gingerly stepped into hers. She was trading remarks with Kochimaru whom was already in her sack. Giggling the two hopped their way to the starting line to join the older Kyubane sister from the cheerleader squad.

"Could everyone step off the track? The event will be starting soon."

Kurumu stuck her tongue out at Rubi as she passed by the witch. Following Yukari's example, she veered off to her left to walk in that space between the first row of bleachers and the outermost track lane. She saw Ginei was sitting up in the rows of Hajihachi's group, holding his girlfriend while chatting with her sisters. Sangi was in the company of an older guy whom might be her father.

Turning her attention back to the starting line, Kurumu smirked upon noticing the gorgeous Okimune Hitsumi was among them. She was chatting pleasantly with little Sekkeimoto from the tennis club. While the sack for most girls came up only to their breasts, this tennis girl and Anagume were notably shorter than their competition. Both had rolled down the hem of their sacks to not be disadvantaged.

One of the remaining two girls was a harpy in the karaoke club. She had her smoky black hair in braided hoops and was the tallest of the participants. Kurumu vaguely recalled the short ginger with the scruffy locks as a senior from the choir.

"This is an event I didn't want to miss."

Kurumu smirked at Senyou as she came to a stop by the boy whom stood with Abe and Ichida.

"Hey Ichida. Ready for your Tug of War?"

He chuckled softly, nodding at Ushio's group whom stood further down the line.

"Here's to hoping those three can carry me to victory."

Yukari continued on without her, passing by Ushio's group. Kagami said something to Yukari and they all shared a laugh.

"So what's so special about this race?"

Senyou snickered, cupping imaginary breasts at his chest.

"It's got lots of personality."

"And they're going to be hopping the whole way down. Twice the pleasure."

"You might want to get away from these two, Ichida. Their stupidity might be contagious."

"I should join Mr. Burumoto's party anyways. Wish me luck."

"Good luck, Mr. Ichida."

Kurumu grinned as Tsukune joined her. She glanced back, not seeing any signs of Moka.

"So the lunch date is over."

He sighed heavily, relaxing his shoulders.

"I shouldn't have got my hopes up over Moka telling me about her homemade lunch."

"Ms. Akashiya made you a lunch?"

"For me, Kurumu and Yukari. I knew it wasn't going to be a one on one thing but Mizore crashing our lunch made things awkward."

Senyou snickered, placing a hand on Kurumu. She shivered from a sudden surge of lechery.

"You have too many admirers, Mr. Aono. Let me have this one."

"No way, man. Give her to me. I'll be your art class buddy."

"I think Mr. Burumoto will have something to say if I let anyone date her before him."

Kurumu pouted at Tsukune.

"I can date whomever I please."

"I didn't mean it that way."

Kurumu huffed, turning her attention away from the flustered boy. She also pushed Senyou back a step, not wanting his lustful intentions to distract her.

"We need to cheer Tonari on. This won't be easy for her."

As if on cue, Coach Kibashiro raised her gun. Pulling the trigger sounded the start of the race. The three gyokuto girls instantly pulled ahead, barely hampered by the sacks or their bouncing assets. The other six were either falling on their faces or moving extremely slow.

"Come on, Tonari! You can do it."

"I'm not hopping like an idiot!"

Kurumu shook her head as the gorgon slowly and steadily shuffled her way by them. The crowd was a mix of cheers and laughter as the girls struggled to make their way down the stretch of track. After falling down a third time, the ginger girl had decided to crawl instead of getting back up.

It only took a few seconds for the first three girls to cross the finish line. It was impossible to say whom had won, though it looked like Kochimaru had stumbled at the end as she rolled across the finish.

"Take that, Mr. Aono!"

Kurumu sighed as Huang walked over to gloat. Shaking her head, she watched the giggling Okimune try to stay with the whimpering Sekkeimoto. Anagume was actually keeping up with them, perhaps being more athletic than the buxom girls.

The harpy was pissed. She was cussing as she hopped twice only to fall on her face again. She was keeping ahead of Tonari and the crawling ginger. It looked like they were doomed in this event.

"Your place at my side is guaranteed."

"Huang. You're like three hundred points behind us."

"What is he talking about?"

Kurumu shook her head at Senyou's confusion as Okimune fell over the finish line, laughing hysterically. She had finished behind Sekkeimoto and Anagume and the harpy was about to cross next. The ginger looked like she had given up at this point as Tonari steadily closed in on the finish.

"Mr. Aono shall be spending the rest of his life with me once your team loses to mine."

"Huang. Go take a swim in the pool."

Huang's eyes glazed over. Without another word, the boy stalked off, intent on completing the task she had assigned to him.

"Ms. Kurono?"

She shook her head at Senyou's grin.

"You don't need to know. And if you bug me, I'll send you to join him."

"I guess I'm not in the mood for a swim."

"And the results for the sack race are as follows! First place goes to Ms. Kyubane from third year purple team! In second is Ms. Shinayaka from first year purple team while third is taken by Ms. Kochimaru from first year orange team! A round of applause for all our competitors!"

Rubi clapped her hand on the microphone, causing a slight squeal of feedback. The crowd laughed and cheered for the girls whom were folding up their sacks. Okimune was clearly in high spirits as she chatted with Sekkeimoto on the way to the stands.

"We shall now begin our first round of Tug of War. Coach Ochi will be overseeing the event. The first struggle will be between two first year groups. The purple team shall face off against the yellow team."

Kurumu placed her hand on Tsukune's shoulder, as Ushio's group came trotting by.

"I need to see whom Huang's team picked for this. You better win this, Ushio!"

Ushio broke stride to turn a wide grin upon her.

"I'll do it for a kiss."

"Only if you take first place overall!"

Tsukune staggered, looking upon her with shock.

"Are you serious?"

"That's a lot of points, Tsukune. He'd be doing you a favor."

"Consider it done, Kurumu. I'll tell you where I want that kiss later!"

Kurumu frowned as he jogged off, leaving her with this confusing lick of lust.

"I don't know what he's thinking about, but I'm not kissing him in any place like a shower or a bath."

"You know lips aren't the only thing that can be kissed."

Kurumu blushed hotly, turning to wag a finger at the smirking Senyou.

"He should know I didn't mean that!"

"In a moment, Coach Kibashiro and Coach Hoshineru will have the rope ring set up in the center of the soccer field for the push out event. All contestants in that event should report to the field now."

Aware that Noboru was the captain, she surmised the trio of guys with him was his team. She knew Tawamuru but had no clue whom the other two were. Noboru was the tallest of the bunch and not a single one of them looked like they could push Ushio around even if he was by himself.

"Is that seriously their team?"

Tsukune chuckled as the bald Coach Ochi gestured at a rope in the center of the track. Ichida took the front position with Ushio behind him. Tamaishi was third with Yano holding the end. Noboru took up the front spot on the opposing team with Tawamuru behind him.

"Well… Yukari did say that they lacked noteworthy guys."

Seeing no reason to watch this, Kurumu trotted off to where the rope ring was laid out. Coach Kibashiro was chatting with Coach Hoshineru with a wide, snaggletooth grin. Yukari stood at the edge of the rope boundary with Irewata and Kagami. They were talking with Hiboshi, Yaisoku and Arashimideru. Kurumu was mildly curious whom their stoic Arashimideru would be faced up against.

Kokoa was standing with Nagisa and her giggling undine friends. For some reason Kaimura and Akiyama were also here. She wondered if they were part of cavalry team for Huang's group.

The tall Kagomure from Moka's homeroom stood nearby with her friend Tategami. The blond had her tresses crimped and folded all the way down to her shoulders.

The stocky and tall Kouyama from volleyball was here along with her short haired roommate Kettou from track. Both looked intimidating to get in the ring with. The last senior was the stocky, broad shouldered, Chiba whom was the softball team's catcher. The short haired, heavyset girl would be difficult to move.

A big girl with purplish hair was the only second year present. She was wearing an orange bandana about her upper arm. Kurumu had seen her in the other home ec period and vaguely recalled that she was one of the many track juniors she had not interviewed.

"And the first year yellow team has secured victory over the first year purple team! Next up we have the first year orange team against the second year purple team!"

"Kokoa. Who's in this event for you?"

"It's that tall girl in Moka's homeroom."

"That's Kagomure."

"Yea, her. For some reason they have Yuko here as their person for push out."

Kurumu grinned at the redhead, surprised.

"Really? I figured it would be Tategami."

"Nope. Nobody wanted to do this event so I took it."

"Is Tategami in an event?"

"Yea. She's in the cavalry battle."

"Oh? Is Akiyama going to be your rider?"

"No. We have Ms. Niwa as our rider. Ume here is doing the scavenger hunt."

"What kind of plan do you have for doing this event?"

"I plan to step out of bounds the moment this thing starts. I'm not going to wait for one of those girls to pick me up and throw me out."

Kurumu chuckled at Kaimura's gesture at the big seniors. Kettou and Kouyama were talking with the second year. All three were notably taller than Kaimura and probably twice her weight.

"Well I won't stop you. We need to beat your group."

A second year with her oily black hair tied back in a short tail with a ribbon stopped to exchange some words with Arashimideru. Kurumu recalled that this tall girl was also on the tennis team.

"Yea, yea. Kokoa was whining about the same thing."

"So you're asking the other team to forfeit?"

Kokoa scowled at Kurumu's amusement.

"I didn't tell her to quit. She told me she planned to."

"Make way. Your champion is coming."

Kurumu smirked, turning at the sound of Ginei's voice. He was trotting towards them, keeping pace with a short girl with boyish, onyx locks whom wore a yellow bandana about her forehead. This was Zanzou Miya, a shade whom had aspirations of being manly.

"Ginei! Is your honey doing this event?"

Ginei laughed as Zanzou blushed. He draped his arm behind Zanzou's neck the moment they arrived.

"My disciple wants me present to witness her progress."

Kurumu smiled softly as the girl effortlessly slipped out of Ginei's grasp.

"Zanzou. This might be a little too much for you."

"I can win this event."

"You're much shorter than anyone else competing in this."

And that was not an understatement. Zanzou was roughly the same height as Akiyama.

"They're just girls."

Kurumu balked at that simple logic.

"They outweigh you. Like I bet that catcher weighs four times your weight."

"I will use their momentum against them."

Kokoa grinned, favoring Zanzou a thumbs up.

"She has guts. Take those brutes down."

Zanzou made a show of cracking her knuckles as she walked over the rope boundary.

"With pleasure."

"And the first year orange team defeats the second year purple team! Our next match will pit second year orange team against third year purple team!"

"Did you make Zanzou pick this event?"

Ginei gasped, touching his chest.

"Why would you think that? She's not even in my group."

"Uh huh. Since when has that limited your influence?"

"My team is represented by the majestic Matsushita. If you look upon her, you will be plagued with one nagging question."

Kurumu frowned, looking at the big track girl on Ginei's team.

"What question?"

"What man would be brave enough to scale that mountain?"

Kurumu backhanded his chest, shaking her head.

"If all the girls are present, we can get this started."

Coach Kibashiro grinned as she made her way to the center of the ring.

"The rules are simple. Stay in the ring longer than your opponents. While you don't get anything special for pushing out your competition, this game will continue indefinitely if you don't. Your score is based on when you're eliminated."

"You don't get any adjustments to your spot for eliminating other opponents?"

"Only if we have to stop the game for time. So play smart. Now everyone get in."

Kokoa huffed as the participants entered the circle.

"That's stupid. If there's no incentive to eliminating anyone, people won't try anything."

"I'm hoping Miya learned her lesson from last year."

"She did this event last year?"

"Yea. Threw herself at a big senior girl. She got caught in the air and set down out of bounds. She was so pissed to be the first one eliminated."

"Do you think she has a chance?"

"No. Eventually it will come down to a one on one. Unless that is someone like that redhead you were talking with, she isn't winning a strength contest against any of those seniors."

"Ready?"

Coach Hoshineru blew the whistle to sound the event. True to her word, Kaimura instantly darted out of the ring while the two senior roommates ganged up on the softball catcher. Matsushita locked up with the tennis girl as Kagomure looked on with concern. Arashimideru simply stood apart from the action with her arms crossed indifferently.

Kurumu laughed as Kaimura came prancing back to their group. The girl was giggling, shaking her head. Before she could reach them, Matsushita pushed the tennis girl over the line which got a whistle blown to signal the elimination. She let go of the tennis girl immediately.

The moment she turned, Kagomure tried to strike. Matsushita pivoted surprisingly fast for a big girl, letting Kagomure run herself out of the ring for another whistle blow.

"Aw, man. Seventh?! Why can't we do good in anything?!"

Zanzou struck out against Arashimideru, causing the tennis girl to stagger into Matsushita's path. The big girl grabbed Arashimideru by the waist, hefting her up off her feet. Arashimideru had a perplexed look as she grabbed hold of Matsushita's shirt. She tried squirming as the big girl marched her over to the side of the ring. Before she could get free, she was set out of bounds to the sound of a whistle.

The sound of a whistle announced the end of the double team as the roommates finally pushed Chiba out of bounds. A second whistle blow had both remaining seniors confused.

"Over line, Ms. Kouyama!"

"What? No!"

"Nope. Over line. Final three."

Kettou grimaced, giving her roommate a fist bump before walking towards her remaining opponents. Zanzou eyed both girls nervously as Matsushita locked gazes with her senior.

"Do you want to handle Ms. Zanzou first?"

"So you can push me out right after I do? I think not."

Matsushita grinned at her senior's distrust.

"You should have taken that offer. Now you'll get third."

The two hit each other with so much force that it knocked Zanzou to the ground. Kettou had charged headfirst like a bull with her arms wrapped about Matsushita's thick waist. She pushed hard with her legs as she grunted with heaving breaths.

Matsushita grunted too, trying to remain immobile as she tried to secure a hold on Kettou. She kept reaching for her waist, but Kettou would force her back a step. She was steadily losing ground.

"Pick her up, Matsushita!"

The big girl gasped, staggering back. She lowered her body, yielding two more steps back in the process. She got her arms around Kettou's waist and groaned loudly. With a battle cry, she jerked Kettou up and started walking with heavy, rugged steps towards the opposing end.

"Sweet Buddha."

Kurumu nodded in awe to Kaimura's sentiment. To see that big girl lift another girl nearly her size was a testament to her strength. Once Matsushita was at the end, she let go of Kettou's waist which caused her feet to come down on the outside of the ring. The whistle blew to signal the elimination.

"And the third year purple team defeats the second year orange team! Our last match of the first round is our second year yellow team against the third year orange team!"

"Sounds like your boys lost."

"A bit surprising. We have some big boys on our team like Miyagi from judo and Kuromuro, a backup goalie for the soccer team. There must be some monsters on that senior team."

Kurumu smirked at Ginei's choice of words, turning her attention back on the final showdown in the ring. Matsushita was simply standing there with her arms crossed, staring down at Zanzou. The small girl was gesturing for Matsushita to come to her.

"I'm not chasing you. I can sit in the center of this ring and take a nap. There's no way you are getting me out even if I'm unconscious."

"Ms. Zanzou. If we are forced to call this event because of time, you will lose by default. She has made three eliminations while you have made none."

"Aha! There is a point to eliminating people!"

Kurumu chuckled at Kokoa's interjection. Both coaches also chuckled, nodding.

"Yes, Ms. Shuzen. It's rarely relevant, since we don't have people refuse to participate."

Zanzou sighed before running up to Matsushita. She tried to grab the girl about the leg, grunting as she tried to lift. The big girl chuckled, grabbing Zanzou by the back of the shirt and hauling her off her feet. A few seconds later, Matsushita set Zanzou out of bounds for the final whistle blow.

"Winner! Ms. Matsushita!"

Coach Hoshineru nodded, trotting off towards the platform. Kurumu surmised she would be reporting the places for the scores to be updated.

"If you girls are here for the cavalry battle, stick around. We'll be starting that after I put this rope away."

Coach Kibashiro bent down to pick up the rope as a dejected Zanzou walked over to Ginei's side.

"Chin up, Miya. Second place is better than last."

"I didn't eliminate anyone."

"Hit those weights harder. Next year, you'll be a senior."

"That's right. I'll definitely win this next year."

Kurumu smirked as Zanzou jogged away. She shook her head at Ginei's smug grin.

"Didn't influence her at all."

"What? I'm not going to tell her to stop trying."

"What are you talking about with this idiot?"

Kurumu grinned at Yukari as the witch came over with Irewata and Kagami. It looked like Hiboshi and Yaisoku had already taken off with Arashimideru.

"I was just leaving. Good luck, ladies."

Ginei turned on his heel and trotted off. Coming this way was the poofy, pink haired Nemoto sporting her white gloves as always. She stood much taller than the ebony haired Niwa whom had her hair back in her usual ponytail. They were accompanied by Ontoriki whom was toying with her vibrant, strawberry blond tresses which spilled across her ample bosom.

"Is Ontoriki coming to watch?"

"Nope. Ritsu told me that she was helping Ms. Nemoto in the cavalry battle."

"You two better not drop me. We need to win this event."

"Of course not, Ms. Shuzen."

"We won't let you down."

"You better not!"

The two undines giggled at Kokoa's stern demands. The one with the greenish black hair similar to a watermelon was Numasaki. Her thick, wavy tresses ended on her bosom but fell all the way to her waist in the back. The other with the aquamarine hair pulled back in a ponytail was Umiyama.

"And we have the results of the push out event. But before that, our final tug of war battle ended in a victory for the second year yellow team! We will be starting the second round right away!"

Coach Kibashiro hefted up the thick rope which she had coiled into a bundle. Clutching the rope to her bosom, the track coach jogged away.

"As for push out, the first place goes to Ms. Matsushita from second year orange team! Taking second place is Ms. Zanzou from second year yellow team. And in third is Ms. Kettou from third year yellow team! A round of applause for all our competitors!"

There was a long moment with only the crowd cheering. Kurumu took in a deep breath, knowing that their event would be announced next. She shivered with anticipation as Nemoto and her partners walked by them to join Tategami whom was chatting with Kagomure.

"Our next event will be the cavalry battle held out on the soccer field. It will start when the coaches overseeing the event have the field ready. All participants in the cavalry battle need to report to Coach Hoshineru right now."

"Do you think we can stay out here?"

Kokoa shrugged at Akiyama.

"I guess you can ask Coach Hoshineru when she gets here."

"Our second round of tug of war will begin now! We're starting with the elimination games. First year purple team will go up against second year orange team. This is a fight for your survival!"

Kurumu snickered, hearing that Ginei's group would go up against Huang's group. From what little Ginei had told her about the team representing his group, Huang's team did not stand a chance.

"Hey, Yukari. As long as we eliminate Nemoto's team, we should be good, right?"

"It's still too soon to say that. Of course we should beat them but we don't want to get eliminated early ourselves. We need to last as long as we can in this."

"Any strategies come to mind?"

"Yea. Stay away from Moka's sister."

Kurumu smirked, thinking that was a fair strategy. Looking off to the bleachers, her eyes lit up when she saw the seniors coming this way.

"Hey, Yukari. Sumire is in this."

"Yea. She mentioned that to me last night."

Chouda was sporting her orange bandana like a hairband in her mint tresses. She was walking with Michi and Michi's friend whom were both salamanders on the softball team. Michi had her short scarlet locks styled in a pixie cut while her friend had fluffy, shoulder length, magenta curls. Both girls were wearing their bandanas about their necks.

Their fourth whom had her bandana tied tightly about her wrist was Gawauchi from the fashion club. She had full, dingy white hair which almost fell to her waist. She was walking with Manzoku of the kimono club whom had her silvery blond hair pulled off to the side in a bun with a small tail. The girl was wearing her yellow bandana in her hair like a ribbon. Both had attended the same junior high as Chouda.

Further back walked the four seniors with purple bandanas. Kosai Mirai, captain of the fencing club, had her ginger hair pulled to the left in a ponytail held by her bandana. She was with the other two seniors of the fencing club, Fukuda and Tadashiguchi. Tadashiguchi wore her bandana about her neck and had her raven hair done up in her usual braids. Fukuda wore her bandana about her brow, pushing back her dark bangs. Kurumu had honestly forgotten that the trio all shared the same gym period.

"Kokoa. Your seniors are coming. Are we in trouble?"

"Ms. Kosai doesn't scare me."

Kurumu had no clue whom the fourth girl was from Kosai's group. She was a thick, sturdy girl similar to Tadashiguchi and about the same height. She had shoulder length ebony hair masking her eyes. Her skin was notably darker than most others.

Of the other seniors trailing behind yet coming this direction, Kurumu recognized all three from gym but only knew the names of two of them. The girl with the short, boyish tangerine locks with the thin rat tail was Netsukaze from gymnastics. The brunette was Yamaguchi from the volleyball team. The small girl with them with the sky blue hair pinned back with a pink heart barrette was most likely going to be the rider if she was part of their team.

"Coach Hoshineru. Can we stay out here?"

"All girls not in the event should stay in the bleachers. We want the whole soccer field as our play area. We don't want to worry about bystanders getting hurt."

Akiyama pouted as Kaimura chuckled, placing a hand on Akiyama's shoulder.

"Come on. Let's go."

Of the second years coming onto the field, half of them were from the gymnastics team. Wearing the orange bandanas of Ginei's group were Roniushi, Tomihana and Araiguma. Roniushi was the silver haired, pigtailed friend of Hajihachi. Araiguma had glossy black hair plagued with cowlicks like most tanuki. It was as messy as always. Tomihana had her sable tresses done in a French braid.

The other three were on the purple team. There was Watanabe from Kurumu's home ec class and Yamakusa, another tanuki whom had her glossy black hair styled in a pompadour. The last was Hotaru's cousin, Aegu Konomi. She had her beige tresses swept up and pinned similar to how Hotaru did.

Kurumu knew both fourth members of these groups. Tadayo Hotaru with her carrot colored, shoulder length curls sported the purple bandana on her left arm. Wearing the orange bandana was Makenuki Ritsuki with her freckles, short hair and glasses. Guessing by height, these two were the riders.

"And the second year orange team has defeated the first year purple team! Our next elimination round is second year purple team facing third year orange team!"

Kurumu grinned upon hearing Huang's team had been bounced out already. Noting that Kokoa's friends and Kagomure were almost off the field, she saw that Coach Kibashiro was trotting back towards them. The track coach was holding a box in her hands.

"Hey, Yukari. Are we going to target anyone or are we simply going to avoid the competition?"

"I think it's best if we fall back and let some of the others eliminate each other before committing to anything. We'll defend ourselves but we won't go on the attack."

Kurumu nodded, glancing over the second year yellow team. Genzaimuta was the captain. The quiet girl from tennis had platinum blond locks like her cousin. She was walking beside Kazehime whom had silvery white tresses pulled back in a ponytail with hime cut bangs. Kazehime was also on the tennis team and was Arashimideru's cousin.

The other two girls were Honourou and Hageshii from sewing class. Honourou had her cherry tresses up in her braided pigtails while Hageshii had russet bangs covering her eyes. Judging by the size of these girls, Hageshii was going to be the rider.

"The girls going on top will need to get their hats from me."

Yukari walked over to Coach Kibashiro with the other riders. The coach started handing out hats.

"The goal of this game is to remove the hat. Losing your hat or falling off your mount will get you eliminated. Your place is decided by when you are eliminated, not by how many eliminations you make."

"And as Ms. Shuzen pointed out in our last event, the number of eliminations does matter if we are approaching the time allowed for this event. We can't do this forever. The boys' tire race is after this."

"You may mount up when you're ready. You have the whole soccer field at your disposal so spread out. There's no reason for you to start out on top of each other. We will begin on my signal."

Kurumu managed a smile at Kagami and Irewata. She took in a deep breath.

"Are you two ready?"

"Sure! Get up on us, Ms. Sendou."

Yukari frowned as she tightened the strap of the white hat on her head.

"Give me a moment. This hat is too big."

Kurumu grinned, watching the other teams spread out before hoisting their smaller companions. Kosai looked quite comfortable on the shoulders of her two tall companions. It was almost like Fukuda was there simply because they were required to have three.

Two of the second year groups were close to each other, trading playful barbs. Both had a slight issue due to their base players having varying heights, but Makenuki and Tadayo seemed to be managing their uneven platforms fine enough.

"Okay. Lift me up."

Kurumu hunkered down, allowing Yukari to clamber up on her back. She straightened up as Kagami and Irewata pressed in on her sides. With their presence, Yukari was able to distribute her weight more evenly between the three.

"Bring it on!"

Kokoa laughed maniacally from her perch atop Nagisa while her two friends held the sides. She twisted her hat back so the brim faced her back. Like the other riders, Kokoa had taken her hair down to not trouble her hat. Her group had scooted off a fair distance from them.

The blue haired senior was chatting amicably with Chouda as she fussed fussed with her hat. Chouda was surprisingly engaged, smiling and responding. Her partners were also conversing with the other team with Netsukaze pointing and smirking.

"Why don't we go for Ritsu? Her group is close."

Kurumu glanced over at Kagami's suggestion, confirming that Nemoto's group was the closest to them.

"That's up to Yukari."

"We can try but we will need to retreat if any other groups head our way."

"And the second year purple team has eliminated the third year orange team! Next up is our third year yellow team whom had a bye last round. They will be facing the third year purple team!"

Coach Hoshineru held up her hand with her whistle in the other.

"Okay Ladies. On my mark!"

The moment the whistle blew, Kokoa took off towards the second year groups. Nemoto's group had the same idea, charging to meet them halfway. They were almost upon each other when the first whistle blew with the sounds of Hageshii's frustrated cries.

Unable to look away, Kurumu locked hands with Ontoriki whom served as the center of this group. They both shared a grin and tried pushing on each other. Yukari shifted dangerously above her while Kagami laughed hysterically.

"Get her hat!"

"I'm trying!"

With most her attention fixated on Ontoriki, Kurumu barely understood what was going on about her. Nemoto was shouting encouragements to Niwa while trying to keep Kagami at bay. A whistle sounded another elimination.

"Watch our flank!"

Kurumu pushed hard on Ontoriki's hands, causing the girl to stagger back. Niwa made a startled cry and the whole group had to shift back. Another whistle sounded.

"Did you get her hat?"

"No. Keep trying!"

"Use your height advantage!"

"Hold me better!"

Kurumu nearly lost her balance when Ontoriki shoved back with surprising strength. She desperately adjusted her stance as the others had to accommodate her misstep. With a fierce grin, Ontoriki pushed her again, causing them all to stumble.

"What are you doing, Kurumu?!"

"She's stronger than I thought."

Kurumu grunted, trying her best to not lose ground. Ontoriki's sapphire eyes gleamed with glee.

"You forget, Ms. Kurono. Harpies don't have separate wings. We use our arms."

She shoved Kurumu so hard that she toppled back. In fear she felt Yukari's weight leave her as she fell on her rump while the other girls stepped in closer. Another whistle sounded their elimination.

"I got it!"

Kurumu blinked in confusion up at Yukari whom was held by the other two. The witch wagged a hat over her head with her free hand.

"You dumb bird! You nearly caused me to fall!"

Lacking her hat, Niwa bopped Ontoriki on the head.

"Get back up, Kurumu. We're vulnerable."

Realizing they were not eliminated, Kurumu scrambled back to her feet. Kagami giggled, letting Yukari settle back to her stable position between the three.

"Nice one, Ritsu."

"Nice? I couldn't use my hands because of her."

"Oh stop fussing, Ms. Niwa. We tried our best."

"How was I supposed to grab her hat with you three bumbling about? I was lucky I didn't fall off!"

"Turn to our right."

"I guess we should have practiced more."

As they turned under Yukari's command, Kurumu smirked at Tategami's last remark. She wondered if any of these girls had practiced as a whistle sounded another elimination. She found the latest victim easy enough as Kokoa crowed triumphantly over snatching Makenuki's hat.

There were only four teams left standing. Kosai's team was still about in the same place as they started, regarding the others with smug confidence. Chouda's team was making their way towards them.

"Ms. Sendou. I took Sana's hat from her. I don't mind if you take mine."

"Can we trust that?"

Kurumu laughed but knew Kagami was correct. They should be cautious.

"We need to get to her before Moka's sister does!"

Sure enough, Kokoa's group was marching steadily in their direction.

"If you don't want your hat, give it to me!"

With Chouda coming for them, they were able to reach the senior first. Kurumu tentatively reached for Gawauchi's hands whom mirrored her effort. Before either of them could push, the whistle sounded the next elimination.

"Seriously?"

Michi's friend chuckled at her disbelief. Glancing up, Kurumu saw that Chouda had surrendered her hat.

"Turn hard!"

Hearing Yukari's desperation, Kurumu turned towards Irewata. She was just in time to catch Nagisa's hands. The undine laughed, pushing her with their momentum.

Kurumu had no chance to set her footing. Kokoa's group bowled her over with Nagisa losing her own footing. As Kurumu fell flat on her back, the giggling undine came down on top of her, still holding her hands. Nagisa grunted as more girls fell down about them. A whistle sounded another elimination, which Kurumu guessed had to be theirs this time as both Irewata and Kagami were on the ground beside her.

"Get back up, Nagisa! We got one more to go!"

Nagisa rolled off Kurumu against Kagami, letting out a heavy sigh.

"That was fun."

"That was crude. You didn't even try to take my hat."

Kurumu chuckled sitting up. Yukari was pouting as she picked herself up off of a groaning Irewata.

"An elimination is an elimination."

Kokoa grinned down at Yukari while on the shoulders of Numasaki. Possibly having fallen as well, Umiyama dusted herself off before offering Nagisa a hand.

"You're lucky that Ms. Kosai wasn't nearby."

"I wouldn't have suggested it if she was."

Yukari huffed, reaching down to grab Irewata by the hand. She tugged on the groaning girl.

"Thanks for breaking my fall."

"I didn't expect them to ram through us."

Nagisa laughed at Kagami's comment, resuming her position in the center of Kokoa's unit.

"She said charge so we charged."

"Dummies almost got me eliminated."

"It seems that you are the only one left."

Kokoa's group turned about to face their approaching adversaries. Kokoa huffed indignantly.

"Yes. I've eliminated three groups while you've sat back and done nothing."

"You have much to learn."

Kosai tapped the shoulder of Fukuda which signaled her group to stop, favoring Kokoa a smug grin.

"The only elimination I need is yours."

"But I win by default if this goes to the time limit."

"I know you won't let that happen. You are far too impatient."

"And you are far too confident."

Kosai spread her arms out wide with a shake of her head.

"It's over, Ms. Shuzen. I have the high ground."

Kurumu paused, realizing that Kosai was correct. Her girls were much taller than the undines supporting Kokoa. There was no chance that she could take Kosai's hat short of standing on top of her team which Kosai could always do the same in response.

Despite this obvious conclusion, Kokoa did stand up on Nagisa's shoulders.

"You underestimate my power."

"Don't try it."

As Kurumu was struck by a huge sense of deja vu, Kokoa sprang off her team with surprising agility. She zipped over Kosai whom reached up to protect her own hat. Before Kosai could, Kokoa's hand snagged the cap and yanked it off. Coach Hoshineru blew the whistle as Kokoa landed clean on her feet on the ground behind Kosai's team.

"Winner! First year orange team!"

"Hey! That's no fair! She eliminated herself!"

Kokoa turned about, smugly regarding the flustered fencing captain.

"Only the order of elimination counts. I took your hat before my feet touched the ground."

"Those are the rules, Ms. Kosai."

Kosai pouted, thrusting a finger at Kokoa.

"That's not how the scene goes. Anakin is supposed to lose."

Kokoa snickered, twirling the cap in her possession.

"I prefer to write my own script."

"And that concludes our Sports Day Activities!"

To her credit, Rubi was still hopping around in that bunny suit with all the enthusiasm she had possessed at the start of this long day.

"Mr. Nurari has the bus ready in the athletics parking lot by the Judo and Karate buildings north of the baseball fields for those whom requested to leave on the five thirty bus. The next bus departure will be at seven at the bus stop near the student dorms. Please show up for your scheduled departure."

Kurumu sighed, tuning the bus talk out as she draped an arm over Yukari's shoulders. She looked at the final scores, pleased that they had finished ahead of Huang's team by almost three hundred points. Now it was only a question if Huang would honor his wager.

"Are your parents leaving right now?"

"No. They're on a bus tomorrow morning."

"Come on. Let's see how Moka is doing."

They had taken third place with one thousand six hundred thirty five points. They had not done anything too impressive in the final stretch. It was more of a matter of not taken last or second to last. With them acquiring a steady amount of points for each event, they had maintained their lead from lunch.

It was a good thing too since Huang's team had achieved two first place finishes in the final stretch. Everyone had forgotten about the Moose. Fukuyoka Masahiko from class eight was an aspiring catcher for the baseball team. The Moose had flexed his prowess by winning the tire race by a large margin over the two second years that had claimed second and third.

Second had gone to Hechiyado from the soccer team. Kurumu had no idea whom third had been, having already forgotten his name. To his credit, Yamazaru had taken fourth in an event he had not wanted to do. Uchiyama had taken dead last, giving up halfway through.

The dress up relay had been hilarious fun to watch. And even though they were Huang's team, Kurumu was happy that Mikomi's group had squeezed out a victory over the third year okami girls. Fumusuna and her friend whom was dating the cycling club president had been very fast at running backwards. If not for their slower two partners, they probably could have won.

Kurumu supposed that was true though of most of the groups. Touzoku and Yaisoku had been much faster than Anko and Tsuchiyama. They had narrowly taken third, beating Herikuda's senior group which had included Denshou from the Ikebana club. Since lower places were not announced, Kurumu had no idea which of the Akebara sisters had taken fifth, both crossing the line at about the same time.

"Hey Kurumu!"

She shivered, stopping at the sound of Ushio's voice. He had a wide grin as he walked over to her while in the company of Tsukune and Kamitsuku.

"You owe me a kiss."

"You didn't take first."

He chuckled, stopping short of her and patting her on the head.

"A tie for second is good enough for one kiss."

They had tied for second place with Ginei's group. She had watched the final tug of war between Ushio's team and the senior team that had defeated Ginei's group. The seniors had Hiroyama, the soccer goalie, Gizatochi, the ace pitcher, Tomohito, the judo club captain, and Motoharu, another judo club senior whom was Tomohito's roommate and possessed the sexiest voice on campus. It was obvious why they had gone undefeated. To avoid giving the second place team more overall points than the first place team, Ushio's team had never faced Ginei's team for a clear distinction of whom was better.

She glanced at Tsukune, wondering if he would protest.

"Fine. Get down on your knees. You're too tall for me to kiss."

"I wasn't meaning we should do it here."

"Do you want the kiss or not?"

After a moment of reflection, Ushio complied with her quest. She smirked, shaking her head as she peered down at the big guy once he was kneeling before her.

"You realize you're not much shorter than Yukari like that."

"I'm not that short!"

Despite the witch's protests, it was accurate. Taking in a breath to quell the flutters in her heart, Kurumu stepped up to the guy and rested her arms on his broad shoulders.

"Shall I close my eyes and part my lips?"

"I'm not sticking my tongue in your mouth."

"Not even for a little bit?"

Kurumu smirked, glancing at Tsukune.

"Last chance to protest."

"Well… it's just one kiss."

"Ready when you are."

Though she had not asked for it, Ushio closed his eyes with a wide grin. Letting out another soft breath, Kurumu turned her head slightly and leaned in. She reflexively closed her own eyes as she touched her lips to his, wondering what Tsukune was thinking.

Some jeers from the crowd broke her out of the moment. She blushed as his hands suddenly decided they needed to be at her sides. Looking up at her fellow students and noting that Juri was among those amused by this display, she stuck her tongue out.

"Okay. That's your kiss."

Ushio chuckled, letting go of her sides to get back up on his feet. He promptly patted her on the head.

"I shall cherish our first kiss and remind you of it when we are dating."

"Don't push your luck."

"What's this?! Are you renting out your women now?"

Tsukune gagged at Huang's conclusion. He waved his hands and shook his head at the young man whom approached. Huang's attire remained darkened from his earlier dip in the pool.

"I'm not doing anything like that!"

Huang stroked his chin thoughtfully, staring at Yukari.

"And how much would you charge for Ms. Sendou?"

"I'm not for sale!"

"I never would have imagined my friend here was a pimp."

A flustered Tsukune turned on a grinning Kamitsuku.

"I'm not a pimp!"

Ms. Huang strolled over, laughing pleasantly. She placed a hand on her brother's shoulder while her other brought a talisman to her lips.

"I trust that my brother isn't causing you trouble again."

Kurumu draped her arm about a scowling Yukari, dragging the witch in close to her side.

"No, Ms. Huang. Though I hope you will honor the wager we made."

"Of course. Give me a list of whom you want to bring so I can start making the arrangements."

"Mizore will thank you for this."

"Yea. We'll have to tell her about it after her mother leaves."

"If possible, could you keep your guest list under a dozen? I'm worried what Father will say."

"That was not the deal, Huang. Thirty is the limit."

Huang grimaced, staggering back.

"Surely you won't randomly invite up to thirty people."

"Hey, Ushio. Want to go to China over winter break?"

Ushio snorted a laugh, shaking his head.

"Sorry, but no. That's my family time."

Kamitsuku chuckled, also shaking his head.

"Don't look at me. My mother would freak out if I left the country."

"We will take your thirty companions if you can find that many."

Kurumu grinned, unsure how hard she wanted to try to get to that number.

"I know you said you weren't that invested in this, but you seem to be taking the loss well."

"I might have been more disappointed if I had heavily invested in this gamble."

"What do you mean?"

"For instance, if I had convinced father to send a bunch of our family members overseas to enroll in this school so that we could have an entire team under my control to face you. Then you would truly be facing the might of the Huang family."

Yukari snorted, snuggling against Kurumu's side.

"As if that would work."

"It would undoubtedly require the Headmaster's lenience."

"Lenience? You would pretty much need his full cooperation to get sixty of your cronies enrolled into those specific classrooms. And since classrooms are limited to thirty five students, he would also have to relocate several existing students from those homerooms into other classes."

"True. But that would have guaranteed our victory."

"It's not even a fair fight at that point. It's stacking the deck against us."

"But that is the only smart way to gamble."

"I'd like to think the Headmaster wouldn't allow such a ridiculous thing. There's also the timing. Even if you had known your foolish brother would make this bet, there was a very small window for you to make that happen. And it was right before midterms."

"I am speaking hypothetically, Ms. Sendou. It took some negotiation just to get my brother and myself here. While the Headmaster respects Master Touhou, he is trying to handle this situation on his own."

"Will you help us protect Moka from the threat which might be coming for us in two weeks?"

Ms. Huang smiled at Tsukune, nodding her head in deference.

"Of course. I wish you well, Mr. Aono. Come along, dear brother."

The teacher started walking off, prompting her brother to follow. Kurumu let out a sigh of relief.

"So is this threat coming during the cultural festival?"

"It's nothing for you to worry about, Ushio."

"Yea. Hopefully the whole school won't get dragged into this mess."

Kamitsuku laughed, clapping Tsukune on the back.

"Well I'm going to check up on my mother. I'll see you at dinner."

Ushio nodded, crossing his arms about his chest.

"And I need to write to mine. Let her know that I'm now on kissing terms and that she best hurry with that permission or I'll continue without it."

"Don't get ahead of yourself."

"Can we go see Moka now?"

Grinning, Kurumu walked off to her right with Tsukune falling in step. Most students were chatting with their friends and families while gathering up their things. It was nice that nobody decided to jump out and talk to them. It had been a long enough day. Kurumu just wanted to go home.

"Ms. Kurono!"

Kurumu saw Kagami up ahead. The harpy was with her mother, the Umou sisters and a cinnamon haired woman whom likely was their mother. Michiko and Kiki were also with them, though Kiki was notably uncomfortable with the company.

"Hey Kaede. I thought we were supposed to be sitting with our groups."

"I didn't want to bother Ms. Hanetsume and Saezuri is over here."

"Yea. Fumenko is hanging out with Kanari and her mother."

Kurumu's eyes widened as she stopped to scan the bleachers in Huang's section.

"Kanari's mother is here?!"

Hearing their murmured confirmations, Kurumu whimpered in dismay. Why did so many interesting people have to be here in a single day? She was terribly curious what Ishiko's mother was like after hearing stories from Hikari's parents about their weekend adventure. And Kana's mother had been as much a sweetheart as Kamitsuku's.

"Will her mother be here for the cultural festival?"

"Probably so."

"I guess I'll see her next time. Have you seen Moka?"

Michiko nodded, pointing further down the bleachers.

"She comforting her sister. Upset over losing."

"How are you doing, Michiko?"

"Annoyed."

Kurumu frowned, glancing at Kagami and her mother.

"Why? I was happy when I learned a half sister out there."

"You have a half sister?"

Michiko clucked her tongue.

"Not bout that. Mad I dropped the baton. Blew our chances of winning."

Kurumu smiled softly, feeling some relief that it was not about Kagami. Poor Michiko had been the first runner for Moka's team and had messed up passing the baton to Zenpyou. By the time they recovered, they were so far behind that they could only compete for the last places.

"I think only having one track girl on your team blew your chance of winning."

"What's this about a half sister?"

Kurumu grinned at Kagami's interest.

"Over the summer, I met a succubus with three daughters. One of her girls was carried in the same womb I had been born from. So she's my half sister."

"This is the first I'm hearing about this."

Kurumu frowned at Tsukune.

"I didn't tell you about Kabuki?"

"He was training with Ms. Udetama all day the time you called her."

Kurumu nodded, thankful that at least Yukari knew about the girl.

"Yea. That's how it is. I'm glad you're not upset with Kaede about being your half sister."

"Not my issue. Between pa and her mom."

"Will you ask him to come to the cultural festival? I would like to see him again."

"Yea. It would be cool to meet my father."

"Why ya care? Not been in yer life up to this point."

"Perhaps it would be best not to drag her father back into this affair. There's no saying how Ms. Dangai's mother will react to this news."

"It's not like I want him to leave his wife. I just wanted him to meet his other daughter. Maybe help me have another."

"Mother!"

Mrs. Kagami shied away from her daughter.

"But if he comes all the way to Yokai to see me, it would be wrong not to offer."

"Sheesh. I'm so sorry about my mother."

"Naw. Pa always said harpies be like this. Guess he knowing by first hand experience."

The other woman sighed, pulling her two girls to her sides.

"It's true that we don't fret over things like marriage and monogamy. Bringing new life into this world is far more important than pride and social etiquette."

"Can't we at least be friends?"

"Hard with Hatoko. She only here because of me. Feels wrong."

Kurumu smiled in the uncomfortable silence.

"Don't take it too hard, Kaede. Hatoko gives Michiko grief over a guy she was thinking about dating."

"True. Got nothing against ya. But thinks ya have plenty friends. We fine as we are."

"You're in gymnastics, right? Maybe I could-"

"Keep in yer club. We fine as we are."

Kagami bit her lip.

"Well our mothers are on this first bus out. Have a good evening… Michiko."

"Sure… Kaede."

Kurumu walked through the group as they started to disperse. Moka was not much further down the bleachers. The vampire was holding her sister against her bosom, stroking her fingers through Kokoa's reddish tresses.

"Is that brat crying?"

Kokoa jerked back at Yukari's amused inquiry. The younger vampire shoved her sister away, hastily rubbing her eyes with her wrists.

"No! I got something in my eye!"

"Uh huh. In both of them."

Blushing, Kokoa scowled at them. She pointed angrily at Kurumu.

"You need to make dinner for me."

Kurumu grimaced, not in the slightest mood to eat. She wanted to go home, bathe, listen to music and turn in for bed early.

"Can't we go to the dining hall?"

"No! I don't want to eat with these losers!"

"Sheesh. Stop acting like a baby."

Kokoa stepped forward, jabbing Yukari in the shoulder with enough force to cause her to stagger.

"I'm not taking that from a little kid."

"Kokoa. Being mad at Yukari won't change anything."

Kokoa whirled on her sister. She angrily pointed at the scores.

"Dead last! We took dead last!"

Kurumu smiled, glancing at the scores again. Huang's team had one thousand three hundred fifty points while Moka's team had one thousand three hundred twenty five points.

"We tried our best."

"You took eighth in the relay race."

"I'm sorry, Kokoa. We didn't practice handing off batons."

The other two teams that had come in last and seventh had also dropped their batons. Sighing, Kurumu rubbed Yukari's shoulder as the witch remained glued to her side.

"It was a tough event, Kokoa. Our team had three track girls and we still took fifth."

"We had three short, track girls and a miniature fox."

Kurumu smirked at Yukari's clarifications. The relay race had been a fierce competition for second place. First place had gone to the Ohira cousins whom had partnered up with Uchiyama's sister and her friend Yamanaka. The four track seniors had won by a large margin.

Their team had been in fourth at the final baton switch but Udetama had been the anchor for a team which already had three decent track runners on it. She had left Asuka and Hajimari in the dust. It honestly had looked like Akari had beaten out Udetama but Rubi's results declared otherwise.

Fourth had gone to another senior team comprised of mostly track girls. The valedictorian Horie and her roommate Shiruba had been on that team with Kishi, whom usually did hurdles and jump events. Their fourth had been Hajimari, the fast centerfielder for the softball team. If she had not bobbled her baton exchange with Kishi, they might not have lost so much ground on Akari's team.

Kurumu sighed, glancing at the scoreboard again. Seventh place was the second years in her gym period whom had one thousand four hundred fifty five points. She was fairly sure that the only way Kokoa's team could have passed them was by Moka getting first and that team getting last. That had never been possible with Ota Hatsuko from track as their anchor. She had almost caught Asuka at the end.

"Even if Moka had won the relay race, your team didn't have enough points to take seventh."

"That's why I said my whole team sucks! I won my event!"

"Well I don't feel like making dinner tonight. I hope you like the stuff I can make in a microwave."

"Cheer up, Kokoa. This was meant to be a fun, bonding experience."

"Why would I want to bond with a bunch of losers that will only drag me down with them?"

Tsukune forced a smile at her response to him.

"Don't you have any friends in Ginei's gym group?"

"Maybe not a friend, but Negai is from her fencing club."

"You can be happy about their victory then."

Ginei's group had taken first overall with one thousand nine hundred ten points with second overall going to the second year purple group with one thousand seven hundred ninety five points. Their victory had been assured when Negai grabbed first place in the scavenger hunt for Ginei's group. It made their performance in the relay race irrelevant, which was good since they had placed seventh in that.

The scavenger hunt was literally a game of luck. Second had gone to Akiyama while third was awarded to Tensai Tobi from the manga club. Dokiniji had gotten sixth or seventh in that, Kurumu only recalling that the last two participants had been the other seniors.

"I suppose I could congratulate her for stomping the crap out of my team."

"You don't have to put it like that."

The only other event in the final stretch had been the high jump which had been conducted on the back stretch of the track since the tug of war matches had still been going on at that time. The track senior Hirota had claimed first for that with second going to Hayagawa, a track second year.

Before the final race, Asuka had finally crossed paths with Kurumu. According to Asuka, the girl whom had taken third in the high jump was another track second year. Fourth had gone to the Bouncy Bunny, Haneru, while Kakeru had taken fifth. Taijin had taken fourth in the shot put event.

"Whatever. I just want to go home."

Yukari sighed, slipping out of Kurumu's grip.

"I probably should go find my parents. Most likely they have dinner plans for me."

Kurumu smiled softly, waving as the witch retreated from them.

"See you tomorrow."

"Have fun with the brat."

Kokoa scowled at the witch's back.

"I hate that kid."

Kurumu laughed, skipping over to Kokoa's side and giving her a slight push. Taking the cue, Moka and Tsukune started walking with them.

"Look at the bright side, Kokoa. Huang said he'd honor that wager so I could take you to China."

"Why would I want to go there?"

Kurumu laughed at her dismissal of his offer. She gave the vampire's shoulders a playful shake.

"Where else will we have an excuse to wear those pretty Chinese dresses you bought?"
