AN: Once more I have terrible priorities and even worse ideas. Have at it
Floral Longing: Tsubasa Side
It was late at night, the weather was stormy and the lights in the apartment were left off. Tsubasa sat on the couch, her head and arms resting on the arm as she stared wistfully out the window, rain pattering against it. She'd been on another tour for the past few weeks now and currently was in the US for another concert in the next few days. Her mood was somber, dampened slightly by the troubles and bumps they'd run into in the last few days since arriving. Scheduling issues, rampant fans and the constant pain of dealing with the paparazzi were troubles she was used to as an Idol.
But of course, no one was perfect. And some days things got to her more than she'd let on to others. Maria and Ogawa had gone off to handle things while she rested, thankfully, and with the brief respite from the stress Tsubasa lay there with her head resting in her arms as she simply stared out the window, tracing the droplets as they fell against the glass. She sighed, her gaze traveling from the window to something else as she shifted her head. Then her eyes lit up just a smidge as they fell upon a bunch of simple flower pots sitting by the windowsill.
She got off the couch, walking over to it and running a finger over the petals of one of the flowers. Marigolds, Freesias and Anthuriums, all of them the color of a brilliant, warm red. A simple but well-cared for bunch of flowers that she'd been given as a gift by a certain white-haired friend of hers. She smiled, wistfully remembering what she'd been told when she'd been given these before she left on her tour.
"If your going to start taking care of yourself you'll have to learn what it's like to take care of another living being too. So take these flowers and care for them!"
"Yukine, I fail to see how exactly this will help me learn how to clean up after myself more"
"J-Just take the flowers you dummy! A-and don't you dare let a single one of them wilt!"
She'd had trouble at first, and Ogawa had to help her most of the time, but eventually she'd gotten the hang of caring for them. True to her word, not a single one had wilted since. As she lovingly caressed one of the flowers, running her fingers across the petals, she felt an urge grow within her. Before she knew it, she had her phone out in her other hand and was calling her, staring out the window with a wistful smile on her face.
"… Tsubasa? Is that you? Shouldn't you be asleep over there?"
"Caring as always, aren't you, Yukine?"
Floral Longing: Chris Side
Chris often liked to wander the gardens around Lydian during break periods. Sometimes she'd run into her kouhais and Kirika'd drag her off on the invitation of a meal while Shirabe sighed in that exasperated but fond way she did around Kirika's antics, other times she'd run into Hibiki and Miku and get sat between them for a quick meal before heading back to classes.
Today neither of those things happened. Instead she wandered alone, taking in the natural beauty of the plant life and flowers around the park. There were others there, true, but they were far enough away from her that Chris could view it all in peaceful silence. She passed by flower arrangements of all types and colors, all beautifully grown and taken care of, but she was looking to head towards one plot of flowers in particular.
The call from Tsubasa that morning had caught her by surprise, still in the middle of getting ready for school. But it had been a pleasant one. Even as she crouched down and put on a pair of gardening gloves a ghost of a smile crossed her face as she recalled the proud tone in the singer's voice as she boasted about how not a single petal had fallen from the flowers Chris had given her. The teasing on her cleaning habits that followed quickly deflated that proud tone into an embarrassed whine of "I-I'm getting better at it! I swear!" from Tsubasa.
The smile got bigger, accompanied by a blush while she worked as she recalled how they continued in hushed tones, Tsubasa quietly saying "I miss you" and making Chris' face burst into a flaming blush as she followed up with her own stuttered "I miss you too". She ran her hand over a flower, a clutch of blue dandelions, as she remembered the audible smile from Tsubasa as she wished her a good day at school. The warmth that welled up from within her at those words nearly made her swoon.
Chris Yukine does not swoon.
Unless it involved certain stupid blue-haired songbirds and their stupidly charming way with words.
She shook her head, almost slapping her cheeks to get her senses back in order and instead resting her chin on the cleaner end of the back of her gloves as she stared at the flower garden before her. Hydrangeas, Dandelions, Asters and Bluestars. Bellflowers, Hibiscus, Calla Lilies and Orchids, all of them a beautiful arrangement of different shades of blue. Each one she'd planted and grown herself. She sighed, smiling fondly at them all, thinking of the one she'd done it all for.
She whispered longingly to them, as if expecting them to answer back in Tsubasa's voice.
"Come home soon…"
