AN: I started writing this while half-asleep and attempted to channel that energy into this. Enjoy

Clingy

Usually, Chris' sleeping habits could be described with words such as "abysmal" and "disorganized". She'd toss and turn in her bed and shove the sheets and pillows around and she'd often end up in odd positions that somehow failed to leave her sore or stiff in the mornings. Tsubasa noted this in the few times she'd gone on overnight trips with Chris and the others, noting one particular memory of awakening groggily in the early morning hours and having to quietly lay back down, expressionless and quickly becoming red-faced, as she saw Chris laying spread eagle on her futon with the front of her yukata barely covering her chest. That was a memory Tsubasa often found herself thinking back on against her will when her thoughts of Chris took a more… lurid… direction.

But apparently, tonight, Tsubasa noted that Chris' sleeping habits changed whenever she was around. She didn't toss and turn or shove things around, didn't throw the sheets half off the bed or lay in haphazard positions.

Instead she clung to Tsubasa's midsection, burying her face into the taller girl's petite chest while her own pressed into Tsubasa's stomach in a way she idly noted as quite pleasant feeling.

Ignoring the clamoring voice in her head yelling about drawn swords and arousal, Tsubasa gently brushed a strand of hair from Chris' face and behind her ear, taking in her peaceful sleeping face. She couldn't help but smile, caressing her cheek and leaning down to press a quick, soft kiss on her forehead, whispering to her as she slowly settled down to sleep herself.

"Sleep well, Yukine…"

"…"

"…"

"… You too… Tsubasa…"

Stars

They didn't get this kind of opportunity often, seeing a meteor shower with the night sky clear and the stars above visible to even the average viewer. So of course when Hibiki eagerly dragged them all out to view the meteor shower there was nothing anyone could do to go against or calm the girl's enthusiasm. She seemed particularly excited to bring along Miku though, a blanket set out on the highest point of the hill they'd chosen as their viewing point for the celestial event where the two were sitting already, excitedly chatting in hushed tones about the coming shower.

Further down the hill the others were set up in their own ways. Genjuro and Fujitaka and Tomosato were bringing up canisters of warm drinks to fend off the cold and handing them to each of the girls, Hibiki's mother and grandmother were with them as well, Hibiki's mother conversing rather amicably with Genjuro. Shirabe and Kirika were on another blanket midway up the hill with Maria trying to calm the blonde's excitement, Shirabe setting out a small tea set and pouring out warm herbal tea for the three of them to enjoy. Even Hibiki's friends were there, chatting amongst themselves and gossiping about the two lovebirds who took the highest spot on the hill for themselves. Not that they minded it, really. They seemed more excited to see what might develop between those two even.

Then, further to the side, still in view of the rest of the group, Chris leaned back with a long yawn, stretching both arms up in the air.

"Careful there, Yukine. A cicada might fly into your mouth if you open it so wide" Tsubasa teased, leaning forward where she sat next to Chris with a smirk. Chris shut her mouth with a huff of annoyance as she leaned back, propping her arms up behind her.

"I'm not that dummy with a mouth too big for her head you know. And besides, it's not even the right season for them to be out now!" Even still, she shut her mouth and crossed her arms, shivering a little from the cold night air. Even with the layers she'd put on the cold still got to her. Suddenly a cup of warm cocoa was held in front of her, her eyes turning to Tsubasa as she smiled in appreciation. "Thanks, Senpai" she accepted with a nod, holding it in her hands and relishing in the warmth from the cup, inhaling the sweet, invigorating scent of hot coco before blowing on it, taking a sip once she was sure it was safe.

Tsubasa looked at her for a few moments longer before pouring herself a cup of the drink too, closing the thermos and placing it in the basket next to her as she repeated Chris routine. They sat there in silence, occasionally taking sips of their drinks while the background noise and commotion of the others gave the atmosphere a strangely homey feeling. Tsubasa glanced at the other girl, seeing her staring up at the sky with the tiniest hints of a smile pulling at the edges of her mouth, and she smiled in turn, turning to face the girl.

"You don't actually hate that Tachibana brought us all out here, do you?" She teased, earning a blush and an offended look from the girl.

"Sh-shut up! If I let her know that she'd never let me hear the end of it!" She said back, her voice quiet as she glanced up at Hibiki where she sat next to Miku, the pair too far away to even hear Chris unless she started shouting. Tsubasa just giggled, taking a sip from her cup and finding it empty after she was done, setting it aside in the basket to be washed once they went home.

"I know, I know… And I know that even then, you wouldn't mind it at all, would you?" Tsubasa said as she looked back at the girl, one eyebrow raised in question with a smug look on her face. Chris answer of blushing and silently staring into her already empty cup was enough to satisfy Tsubasa, picking up the thermos and unscrewing the lid to offer Chris a refill. Instead the girl shook her head, handing her the cup and bringing her knees up closer to hug them as she stared up at the clear night sky.

After Tsubasa put them away she turned back to see that Chris had laid down instead, hands on her stomach as she looked up at the stars. Slowly, she mimicked her position, laying next to her and feeling a smile creep on her face as Chris' hand slowly inched down from her stomach and down to hers, their fingers intertwining with a reassuring squeeze as Chris looked away.

"… I just didn't wanna interrupt this night for them… y'know? I'm… happy they invited us out but the dummy… Hibiki deserves some special time with her…" Chris' words trailed off as she turned to look over at where Hibiki and Miku sat, Tsubasa following her gaze to see the two of them leaning against each other. While she couldn't hear or see their faces, even she could tell that they were having a particularly intimate moment, without the notice of the others below. Then she turned back to Chris and found the girl's lilac-colored eyes gazing deeply into hers, bringing their intertwined hands up and giving hers a squeeze she returned without delay. "… And I… wanted this night to be special for us too… I guess…" again, her words trailed off, but her gaze remained on Tsubasa's for a moment longer before she turned away, a red flush on her cheeks as she shyly turned to look at something else.

Tsubasa smiled, giving her hand a squeeze and inching closer to her until their shoulders touched, Chris' breath hitching at the contact as she turned back to look at her with their faces only inches apart now.

Nothing was said for a long time between them, only a shared gaze with messages conveyed left unspoken by either of them. A small smile shared in that tender display of affection as they simply basked in the comfortable silence.

Even when Kirika shouted in surprise and awe at the meteor shower beginning and the trails of light burned across the sky in a myriad of colors, the two stayed that way, laying next to each other with hands held as they stared up at the night sky, the entrancing light show lasting for only a few, short, but magical moments.

Even as they all soon packed up to head back home when the meteor shower ended, Tsubasa and Chris kept close, hands held but hidden from view of the others, Chris leaning close to Tsubasa's side with the excuse of "It's warmer next to her" when the others expressed curiosity at her actions.
