(AN) Hello there, and welcome to Chapter Four of How the Elf Lord made New Friends. I hope you all enjoy.

Apology's for the delay; was trying to work on other things, but I'm back now.

A mistake I made in the last chapter but have now fixed was forgetting to mention when it went to the next day.

Credit to DS2010 for some of the dialogue.

Chapter Four

Retaliations

Ducky and Jimmy soon arrived at the park, and were soon examining Rose Taylor's body.

"Cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head," informed Ducky gravely, "Judging from what you've said, Jethro, it appears that Ms Taylor's killer used a long range sniper; possibly in an area where there would be little chance of being noticed."

"Boss," called out Tony as he and McGee approached the group, "Found a set of footprints heading away from a nearby tree."

"So, the sniper must've been hiding up in that tree in order to spot Ms Taylor." said Gibbs in a grim voice.

"What do we do now?" asked Fornell.

"We keep trying to find this gang," stated Gibbs, "Hopefully one of them will lead us to Rodregez's base of operations."

McGee and Tony simply nodded in agreement.

Later on at night, everybody in the Daly house was asleep. Tony, McGee and Ziva were using sleeping bags in the living room; Ziva snoring loudly. An alarm system had been set up by McGee so that they would be alerted instantly to any intruders.

The three agents were jolted awake by a loud and terrified scream coming from upstairs. As quick as a flash, Tony, McGee and Ziva leapt to their feet, grabbed their guns from their backpacks and raced upstairs. As the three agents edged their way along the hallway, they saw that Emma's bedroom light was on. Tony turned to his friends and put a finger to his lips. The three agents reached the door to Emma's room.

"NCIS!" cried Tony as he, McGee and Ziva burst into the room.

The trio lowered their guns as they saw Kevin and Audrey sitting on Emma's bed, while the young girl sobbed into her mother's nightgown.

"Shhh," said Kevin gently, "Emma just had a bad dream; that's why she screamed."

"Phew; thank God." sighed McGee in relief.

"I-I had a nightmare that those bad men came back and h-hurt Mommy and Daddy." whimpered Emma, who was trembling and shedding a few tears.

"Shhh, shhh, it's okay now, sweetie, those bad men won't hurt us." assured Audrey while making hushing noises and rubbing the four year old's back.

"How do you know?" asked Emma in a small whisper.

"Because, peanut, we are under the protection of three highly trained federal agents," replied Kevin, "And you know that I would never let anything bad happen to you."

"And if those bad men do come back, we'll take care of them." assured Tony.

"Okay." replied the young blonde before looking at her parents, "C-can I sleep with you for tonight?"

"Of course you can, peanut." replied the lieutenant before taking the young girl into his arms.

After Emma got snuggled into her parents bed, Kevin went downstairs with McGee, Tony and Ziva. The four sat on the sofa.

"I still can't believe Rose is dead," lamented Kevin, "I should've done more to help her and George."

"You did everything that you could've done," assured McGee, "Now we just have to find Rodregez and put an end to this."

"Hope you get that bastard and the animals he sent to attack me and my family," said Kevin, "I trusted Hues, and now he's betrayed me. By the way, thanks for helping to comfort Emma, you guys."

"You are welcome," replied Ziva, "You are a good father, Kevin."

"Yeah, but I hate not being here for them all the time," stated the navy lieutenant, "I used to really love doing tour duty, but then I started missing a lot of big firsts for Tommy and later Emma. A few unfortunate incidents happened that I wasn't there for and in 2009, I was shot."

"You got shot!" cried McGee in astonishment.

Kevin lifted his shirt up to show a small scar on his chest. "Sniper managed to hit me while patrolling," he explained, "If the rest of my team hadn't gotten to me in time… I would've been dead."

"Whoa," said Tony in shock, "You're very lucky. I've had a few … unfortunate brushes with death myself: my car got blown up, but thankfully I was nowhere near it, and I survived the bubonic plague."

"You're kidding about that last one, right?" asked Kevin before seeing that nobody was cracking a smile, "Seriously, that's … uhhh, I honestly have no idea what to say about that."

"We've all been through a lot, but the most important thing is to keep fighting through." said McGee.

Outside, a shadowy figure was observing the house; grinning evilly.

"Tomorrow is gonna be sweet." hissed the man.

The next morning, Kevin decided to go out for an early morning jog in order to clear his head. He was still worried about the idea of those men coming back and getting revenge for him killing Harry Jeffords, but Kevin knew that if he ever had to defend his family again, he would, but hopefully without killing anybody.

The navy lieutenant entered a rundown looking street with several abandoned houses. Kevin was so lost in his thoughts that he failed to notice a figure in dark clothes, gloves and a balaclava walking up behind him.

Kevin turned around suddenly when he felt a sudden pain in his back. The man saw a tall man in dark clothing and a balaclava standing behind him, wielding a taser.

The figure put his taser away and started throwing punches and kicks at him. Kevin dodged and started throwing his own punches and kicks, which the figure easily dodged. The figure suddenly whipped out his taser and fired it at Kevin's stomach, causing the lieutenant to groan in pain before collapsing to the ground. The figure then threw himself on top of Kevin, pinning him to the floor.

"This is what you get for killing Jeffords, Lieutenant!" barked the man before punching the young man in the face.

"You lot attacked my family; it was self-defence!" cried Kevin fearfully, "I didn't mean for the gun to go off."

Kevin managed to shove the man off of him before springing to his feet and punching the man in the face. Four more masked men, whom Kevin realised were the same men that had attacked him and his family charged out from a nearby house and surrounded the young man. Kevin exchanged punches and kicks with them, but was soon overpowered when two of the men grabbed him by the arms and dragged the struggling man over to the house.

Kevin was dragged into an abandoned living room and thrown to the floor. The first masked figure flipped a switch, turning a bright light on, which almost blinded Kevin.

"You're going to pay for killing Terry, Daly!" snapped the first man before running up to Kevin and punching him in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him and making the man groan.

The main masked man then began punching and kicking Kevin, ignoring the terrified whimpering and pleading. "He was my brother, Daly!" he snapped while continuing to swiftly punch and kick the lieutenant, "We'll leave you here, then we're heading over to your house to take our revenge out on your wife and kids."

"Please, please, don't hurt my family. I'll do anything you want." begged Kevin; breathless and in pain.

"Anything I want, anything I want!" snapped the masked man, "The only thing we want is for you to suffer and die. Isn't that right, boys."

The other masked men nodded in agreement.

"NO! please no!" cried Kevin in a terrified manner, "You don't want to do this. Hues, I know you're hiding behind one of those masks. Think about what you're doing!"

"Sorry, Lieutenant, it's just business." hissed one of the masked men, who was obviously Hues.

One of the other masked men punched Kevin in the face. The main masked figure took out his taser and shot Kevin straight in the chest, causing him to scream in agony before falling unconscious.

"Let's leave him here for now and go after the family," said the man, putting away his taser and then turning towards one of the other men, "And remember, I want pictures."

The gang then left the house; leaving the unconscious and battered Kevin lying on the floor.

Over at the Dalys house, Tony, McGee and Ziva walked out of the front door; Tony was talking on the phone.

"Everything's all clear, boss," said Tony, "Kevin went out for a walk to clear his head, can't say I blame him. Okay, I'll update you later."

"They found anything new yet?" asked McGee.

"Nope," replied Tony, "The case is almost running cold, but you're doing a good job at being patient McPatient."

Ziva turned her head and suddenly caught a flash of movement round the back of the house. "Tony, McGee, I just caught a glimpse of somebody going round to the back yard," she hissed, "Call Gibbs if it is something."

The three agents snuck round the back and leapt over the fence, which separated the street from the back yard, they then slowly drew their guns.

"NCIS!" called out Ziva, "Whoever is out there, come out with your hands up."

Quite suddenly, Ziva felt a sharp blow to the back of the head, which was followed by her slumping to the grass. This mysterious attacker did the same to Tony and McGee, causing them to fall over.

Inside the house, Audrey and Emma were sitting on the sofa in the living room when suddenly, the living room door burst open and the five masked men stormed into the living room. Emma yelped in fear, while Audrey wrapped her arms around the young girl in a protective manner.

One of the men grabbed Audrey, dragged her off of the sofa and threw her to the floor, he then took out some zip-ties and tied them round Audrey's wrists before gagging her with duct-tape. The same was done to Emma.

Tommy walked in from the kitchen and gasped as several of the men came towards him. Tommy attempted to run, but one of the men grabbed his arm and threw the young boy to the floor. Tommy saw his mother and sister tied up and gagged. Tommy attempted to fight, but was overpowered; tied up like a caff and gagged.

Audrey shrieked around her gag as she saw what they were doing to Tommy. One of the men stood over Audrey, grinning wickedly.

The other men began ransacking the house; knocking over furniture as well as smashing glass and electronics just for the fun of it.

Audrey began crying as she realised that these were the same men from before, minus the one that got shot.

"Remember me?" asked the man standing over her, "I know you do, I can see it in your eyes."

The man then pulled Audrey up by the shoulder, grabbed a chunk of her hair and dragged the brunette through to the den. Audrey tried to kick out at the man, but he punched her in the face, knocking the young woman to the floor. The man then crawled on top of Audrey so that she couldn't move.

"Now listen to me, I will have you and then I'll take care of that sweet little thing in the other room." hissed the man seductively as he bent down and caressed Audrey's cheek, making her shudder.

"NO! please." begged Audrey around the gag.

The man simply laughed and struck her across the face, he then began trying to rip her clothes off, causing the terrified woman to kick and let out muffled screams

In the living room, Emma was sobbing in fear and crying for her mommy. The other men kicked her in an attempt to make her stop, but it only made the blonde cry harder.

"Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!" cried Emma around her gag.

"SHUT UP!" hollered one of the men before giving her a sharp kick, which only made Emma cry even harder.

In the den, Audrey could hear her daughter crying and so got one of her arms free before hitting the man on top of her, Audrey then shoved the man off and attempted to get up, but the man was quicker and shoved her to the floor from behind before rolling the brunette on to her back, pulling out a knife and putting it to her belly.

"If you keep trying to fight, lady, then I'll gut you!" threatened the man.

Audrey whimpered, wondering to herself where McGee, Tony and Ziva were.

(AN) So, there's a nice cliffhanger to leave you on. Will Tony, McGee and Ziva be able to regain consciousness and save Kevin and the others in time? You'll have to wait and find out.

Until then, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out.
