The next day, everyone was doing their usual routines in the hotel when they hear a thud come from outside. After a couple of seconds, Alastor entered through the front door with an announcement to make.
"Everyone sharpen up" he said, everyone glancing at him.
"We have...a visitor" he said with that grin on his face.
He then moved aside as a tentacle ending in pincers slammed down on the floor followed by another. Charlie and Vaggie looked at each other, knowing who showed up before looking back at the door. Then through the door crawled in Nightfright to everyone's shock.
"Welcome to the Happy Hotel my dear friend" said Alastor.
"Thank you. It's quite the unique place. Very esthetic and clean" Nightfright replied.
"So your the...Nightmare Demon" said Charlie as she cautiously approached Nightfright.
"Yes. That would be me Charlie" Nightfright replied.
"You know who I am" she asked him.
"I do and I must say it's a pleasure to meet you" said Nightfright as he let out his hand.
Vaggie got between them and pointed her spear at him, only for it to be grabbed by one of his tentacles a second later.
"Fast reflexes. This isn't the first time I've had a weapon pointed at me" said Nightfright.
He then grabbed it from her, turned to Alastor and asked him "Is this how all visitors and guests are treated"?
"Oh no, just the ones she doesn't like" Alastor replied, Vaggie shooting him a death glare.
"Oh...OK then" he said as he glanced back at Vaggie and let go of her spear.
"So...Nightfright, what brings you here this evening" Charlie asked him.
"Nothing much really. Just dropping by for a visit" he replied.
"Oh well...that's nice of you" said Charlie.
"Excuse us for one minute" said Vaggie.
Vaggie pulled Charlie aside to talk to her.
"Charlie, do not believe or listen to anything this guy says, you and me both know he can't be trusted" said Vaggie.
"Oh I know. But don't worry Vaggie, everything is going to be fine" Charlie replied.
Vaggie sighed as they walked back to the others.
"We all saw the show your pets put on for us after the extermination. Bravo" said Angel Dust, clapping as Vaggie glared at him.
"It was really nothing. What better way to introduce yourself to the populus then to show them just what you're capable off" he replied.
"I'll warn you right now though. Sir Pentious will find you and try to kill you for ruining his joyride" said Angel Dust.
"Oh he can try. I'll make him regret it if he does" he replied.
They all sat down at the bar and Husker asked him "You want anything to drink"?
"Oh I'm good, thanks. I have such a high tolerance it's almost impossible for me to get drunk" he replied.
"Oh yeah? And how much can you drink before you get drunk" Husker asked him.
"A gallon. So unless I want to get drunk, I can't" he replied.
"Wow, impressive" said Husker.
"Actually, you know what...I'll take a glass of wine, any kind will do" said Nightfright.
Husker poured him a glass and gave it to him. He drank it and said "Ah, you gotta love the refreshing taste of wine sometimes".
"So...what was your…life like, before you ended up in hell" Charlie asked him.
"A rollercoaster. A crazy, on fire, out of control rollercoaster" he replied.
"Wow...that bad" she asked him.
"Worse...but I don't want to talk about it right now" he said.
"Alright, that's fine" said Charlie.
After a while, they all walked outside, only to be greeted with the same kind of giant nightmare crow that destroyed Sir Pentious' Warship.
It walked towards them with a thud in every step. Everyone speechless and frozen at the sight of it, except for Alastor. It got close then lowered it's head, Nightfright petting it like a parrot.
"Good Magmabird" he said.
"Magmabird" Vaggie asked.
"Yes, all of my...pets, have names like a species of animal would" said Nightfright.
"That's...interesting. And you call these giant crows Magmabirds" Charlie asked.
"Yes" Nightfright answered.
"OK, than what do you call the other nightmares we saw" Angel Dust asked.
"The Sabretooth Tigers, those I call Ravagers. The Grizzly Bears? Fireclaws"
"Is that the...full arsenal of nightmares you have" Charlie asked.
"Oh no, I've got plenty more. I just haven't showed them off yet" Nightfright replied.
"Really now" Charlie asked, nervous.
"Yes, but not to worry, they're all under my complete control" Nightfright replied.
"Looking at this thing up close, I wanna ask. Is every living nightmare you create made to kill" Husker asked.
"Kind of, yes. An old friend of mine once said - What's the point of having incredible powers if you're afraid to use them to their fullest" Nightfright replied.
"But you don't kill, right? Apart from the exterminators you killed" Charlie asked.
"Oh, I do kill yes, but not very often" he replied to their shock.
"OK...good to know" said Charlie, a little nervous.
"It's perfectly fine, relax. I'm not crazy or evil, far from it in fact. I'm just...very vengeful" said Nightfright.
"Oh...OK" Charlie replied.
He then got on the Magmabird and said "If you ever need me, just give me a call. Until then, farewell".
He tapped the Magmabird two times and it let out a slight shriek then took off, disappearing behind the nearby skyscrapers a few seconds later.
"You know he's…not as bad as I though he would be" said Charlie.
"See? I told you that he's nice once you get to know him" said Alastor.
"Yep. Yep, you did" Charlie replied.
"I'm a little bit concerned thought...considering every nightmare he makes is made to kill" said Vaggie.
"Yeah, Al how much does he know about his abilities" Charlie asked.
"I'm not entirely sure. Only things I taught him are creating nightmares and how to get into someone's head" Alastor replied.
"I gotta say after seeing that big bird up close, his pets officially give me the creeps" said Angel Dust.
"Oh come on, I don't think they're that scary" said Husker.
"Yeah, they're not that scary until they roar or screech in your face before they try to kill you" said Vaggie.
Husker just sighed as they all walked back in the hotel. Nightfright jumped on top of a large skyscraper with a penthouse then absorbed the Magmabird. He opened the door to the penthouse and stepped inside.
"Scarlett? Honey, I'm home" he called out.
His wife came from behind the corner and they kissed.
"How'd it go" she asked him.
"Great, I had a good time and they were nice and welcoming" he replied.
"It's nice to know that there are SOME good people in hell" said Scarlett.
"Yeah, that's a good thing at least. It's not all scumbags and pieces of filth" he said.
"You still plan on going to that meeting later" she asked him.
"Oh absolutely. I wouldn't dare miss it" said Nightfright.
"Then you better take a shower and get ready for it tiger" she said.
He laughed and said "Yeah, I suppose I better".
Later that night, wine was being poured into two glasses.
"What do I think of that offer? I think I love the idea" said Nightfright as he raised his glass.
"Good to hear that my intriguing friend" said Lucifer as the two of them toasted & drank.
"My own base of operations, where I can do anything with my abilities that I please AND it's far away from anyone living there? I'd love that" said Nightfright.
"After seeing the kind of things you can do and create. It's best I give you a place where you can...cut loose and do whatever you please. To an extent of course" said Lucifer.
"Thank you your majesty" said Nightfright.
"Oh it's not a problem Nightfright. You're a special soul, gifted with a legendary and powerful ability. One I...personally haven't seen or dealt with in a very very long time" he said.
"Oh you don't need to worry about me. I'm not a conqueror nor do I have a desire to be one. It's too much work, it's bad, it's boring and it's not worth it at all. Trust me, I'm not going to be a problem" said Nightfright.
"Very well, I trust you. As well as I should, after all, we have much in common you and I" he said.
Nightfright smiled as he took another sip of wine.
"Once I get that place up and running to my specifications, I've got a lot of ideas for…deadlier nightmares" said Nightfright.
Nightfright then used his powers and showed Lucifer small models of what he was thinking of creating.
"My my my, those look like some of the deadliest living weapons I've ever seen" said Lucifer.
"Indeed they are. If the denizens of the Pride Ring thought this year's rampage was intense, wait until next year, when I put these beauties to the ultimate test" said Nightfright.
Lucifer leaned back a bit, clapped and said "Bravo my friend, bravo. You might just get the spot of most powerful Overlord in the Pride Ring if you keep this up".
Nightfright laughed and replied "I know".
He then looked at the camera then gave a sharp toothed grin as the negative aura escaped his eyes. The screen faded to black except for his eyes as he said "I'm not crazy or evil...just vengeful".
